Located in the Stockyards and part of Marriott Bonvoy's Autograph Collection, the Drover somehow managed to feel luxurious, western, cozy, and lively all at once! We grabbed drinks at the lobby bar before wandering around the hotel grounds, taking photos, and eventually settling into chairs overlooking the little river/creek area behind the hotel. The outdoor spaces are stunning and incredibly relaxing and I loved all of the murals around! A huge shoutout to Victor, the bartender working that Friday afternoon. I gave him a very vague idea of what I was in the mood for and he definitely understood the assignment. He crafted me some sort of elevated fruity ranch-water-adjacent cocktail that was refreshing, delicious, and one of the many highlights of the afternoon. I completely forgot the name of it but I remember enjoying it - so much so that I ordered another one during lunch :) One of our other friends joined us later for drinks and lunch and, somehow, everyone except me managed to trip over the grass at one point or another. Oh, and not too mention, the great landscaping entertainment... haha! We can't all be perfect!! All in all, the Hotel Drover feels very welcoming even if you aren't staying overnight. You can walk around, enjoy the grounds, grab a drink, and soak in the atmosphere without feeling totally out of place. Relaxing, stylish, and very Texan. I'd absolutely return and would love to actually stay the night sometime!

There were a lot of people, but I was pleasantly surprised by how short the line was to get inside. Parking was plentiful and easy to find. Dollar Day was a great way to experience the park without spending a lot. They offered $1 hot dogs, beer, and sodas, making it easy to grab something while enjoying the races. I purchased a general admission ticket. With the large crowd, finding a place to sit was probably the biggest challenge. There was plenty of activity throughout the park but seating filled up quickly. I would recommend arriving early if having a good seat is important to you. The races themselves were well organized and exciting to watch. The horses appeared healthy and well cared for, and it was fun getting to see the races up close and experience the excitement of the track. The cashiers were incredibly welcoming and patient and actually took the time to explain how to place a bet.

That being said, my expectations were a bit hit and miss here. But mostly a fantastic experience. I love that it's exquisitely beautiful and very clean. I love that staff is formally dressed to impress! Collared shirts and all, it allows the guest experience to feel better. The cream of the crop though is the trumpet guy. He was everywhere and making people feel really special, by playing and getting the crowd to sing, he's really magnificent. A stand out to all other tracks, as nobody has what he does! The aircon is fabulous, so you can feel comfortable the entire day! The food service stations were helpful and nice all great! Each employee has a specific job , so nobody will help you if it's outside their job we discovered, as in helping find seats, getting programs, where's the ice cream, where do we enter for premium parking? All questions we had a tough go of. I wish there were umbrellas out front for shade, I wish more tables and chairs ground level inside, I wish there was a pony station to pet the ponies? But no. Another surprising thing I saw was a pony rider, while waiting on the track, smoking a cigarette! One cinder flick in the air onto a horse or person is not safe at all. Am really shocked this is allowed. Totally loved the "car wash" to the side for the horses who just finished, what a treat to see and treat for the horses, people say they love it. Could be good for marketing! Speaking of which, in my week there, most locals where I went, grocery restaurants gas stations didn't know that track existed! It's a marketing thing but maybe big Texas track doesn't need the money, not sure. Houston has the very best marketing team. Perhaps get some pointers! Now, this is by far another best, the track announcer! He's really the best, he talks loud enough and slow and has the most kind and caring voice of all. Most track announcers act like they've had ten gallons of coffee, not this guy, he's like everyone's loving grandpa! He keeps everyone up to the minute, and we just happed to be there with the inclement weather closure and the race collision and he was cool as a cucumber! Another one of a kind. And then lastly, security. Top notch, they make sure you are accounted for with proper ID and all, it likely any horses here will be tampered with or stolen, fat chance! And the outriders, again top notch safety, they secured the loose horses that fell super quick, they are constantly on the lookout for safety, getting ponies in line organized for each race, for a guest it looks so well organized! Sorry such a long read, but loved it here and wanted to share and hope this helps others who wish to spend the day or more here, it's so so fun! A MUST DO WHILE IN DALLAS!

It is not easy finding a nice venue to host your friends and family in North Dallas. Lucky for me,…read moreI was able to find Crystal Banquet. I threw a party for 650 of my guests and I was astonished at the execution by the management and staff. The management team is experienced and sophisticated. It was very easy to book an appointment and our first initial meeting went extremely smooth. We chose to participate in their food option and the food was exceptional. My fav were the kabobs, chicken and jelly custard. Make sure to get the jelly custard. It might not look like a nice venue from outside but let me tell you when you walk through those doors, you will be amazed by how elegant this hall is. Things I liked about hosting an event here: 1) beautiful decor 2) no smell 3) clean 4) friendly staff 5) food is fantastic 6) Jelly custard

Unfortunately, the way management handled our situation has completely changed our opinion of this venue. We had only signed our agreement a few weeks earlier when an unexpected family emergency and unavoidable international visa/travel delays made it impossible for us to continue with our wedding reception. We notified Crystal Banquet a full month before the event, which was scheduled for a Thursday, not even a prime weekend wedding date. We had paid a $1,500 deposit, but no event ever took place and we never received the services we were paying for. We were also still weeks away from the point in the contract when the final guest count, menu selections, and other event details were supposed to be finalized. Despite explaining the circumstances and repeatedly trying to work something out reasonably, management refused to return our $1,500 deposit. Even more upsetting, they pointed to their cancellation policy to claim that we could potentially be responsible for 75% of the invoice because we cancelled 30 days before the event. What made the experience worse was the communication. We tried to speak with management directly over the phone to have an actual conversation about the situation, but our attempts to discuss it were dodged and we continued receiving short responses simply referring us back to the contract. I understand that businesses need cancellation policies and deposits for protection. But there is also a difference between having a policy and refusing to show any reasonable flexibility when an event was booked only weeks earlier, cancelled a month in advance because of circumstances outside the family's control, and no reception or services were ever provided. The entire experience left us feeling that collecting money was more important than working with a family facing a legitimate emergency. What reasonable purpose does keeping the entire $1,500 serve under these particular circumstances, especially for a Thursday reservation that was cancelled a month beforehand? We approached Crystal Banquet expecting compassion, professionalism, and good-faith communication, particularly because we considered them part of our own community. Instead, this situation has been incredibly disappointing and stressful during what was already a difficult time for our family. Based on how management handled our cancellation and communication, I unfortunately cannot recommend Crystal Banquet.

Nice spot for a birthday party!…read more Looks like this venue can accommodate weddings, birthdays, bar mitzvahs, or any type celebration of your choosing! Ample parking even with potholes to deal with. I think the owners of the rental units are responsible for paving the property. Some serious repaving is desperately needed. There are many other wonderful units located within this particular area. Cigars, wines, Chinese food, and other wonderful spots! Well worth making a visit! However, this review is about this venue. I'll be back to visit the other spots because of their uniqueness! The decorations were wonderful! I think they were provided by the persons that booked the unit. They also had servers for food. However, I think that too was booked via the people that rented the venue. The napkins, which were cloth, were dirty and limp. Ugh! Those need to be replaced. Those were quite objectionably dirty! Same with the white table cloths. (Fake)flower arrangements were nice. They matched the decor for this setting. Chairs need serious updating/replacement or a good scrubbing. Bathrooms were clean and the toilets flushed. Lack of toilet paper was limited. As was hot water and soap. I was a guest. Would I rent here? Yes I would, if the price was right. The party I attended was fabulous! The party was flawless and they went way above and beyond for this party! February 2025

An Unforgettable Quinceañera at The Slate at II Creeks - September 6, 2025…read moreWe recently celebrated my daughter's quinceañera at The Slate at II Creeks in Richardson, TX, and it was truly a magical experience from start to finish! Luis and his staff were incredibly professional, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure everything ran smoothly. Their support throughout the planning process and on the day of the event made all the difference -- the food was amazing. We felt completely taken care of. The venue is absolutely stunning -- modern, clean, and flexible enough to accommodate both the ceremony and reception in one beautiful space. Our guests were blown away by the ambiance and flow of the evening. A huge thank you to DJ Larry Perez, who brought incredible energy to the party! His music had everyone dancing all night, and the surprise appearance from his robot and big head crew was a total crowd favorite. It made the night feel extra special and fun! My daughter had the time of her life, and we are still getting compliments from friends and family weeks later. If you're looking for a quinceañera venue in the DFW area, The Slate at II Creeks is the place to go. We can't recommend it enough!
