Honestly, I had no idea what a USPS CPU was until earlier today when I was looking for a location…read morecloser to my digs in Cary that WASN'T the turrrrible location on Wrenn. As it turns out, a CPU is a Contract Postal Unit which carries its own set of requirements, one of which (and perhaps the most important) is that they cannot charge any more than a "regular" USPS location. Onwards: Location: 4 out of 5 About a 7 minute drive from my place. This CPU is located inside the Mobil Gas station (Radha Mart II) at the corner of Davis and Old Jenks. Incidentally, there are some restaurants (Chippy and the coffee place) as well as gas in close proximity in case you want to make an afternoon of it. Free parking dedicated for Mobil station customers awaits! Services offered: 4.5 out of 5 Commensurate with a full service postal office, except for maybe passport services. Notably, they have the counter where you can pick your Priority Mail boxes, envelopes, padded envelopes, etc. for both domestic and international mailing. Customer Service: 4 out of 5 Instead of being manned by Postal Service employees, the employees of the Mobile gas station are the ones that assist with your mailing needs. There was a newer guy who looked like he had just been hired at the station who was still learning the ropes of processing my padded envelope, so I'll give him a pass. The guy who I suspect is the owner/manager was of humorous and almost prototypical Indian subcontinent descent. Helped me to pick out a smaller padded envelope than I initially thought I might need (thereby saving me money), and when he saw me struggling with putting my item in, he took it from me and proceeded to do it himself, delegating me to more menial tasks like filling out the address form. Ha! This sort of brusque but efficient customer service may be offputting to some, but in a way, if you pretend like you don't know what you're doing, you basically get full service help for free. ;) Value: 5 out of 5 The postal service still offers the most reasonable rates if things aren't entirely time critical. Whereas my product would have cost 7$ via UPS ground to arrive mid week next week, the same product cost 7.05 to be shipped PM to arrive by Monday. Overall: 4 out of 5 I didn't have to wait in line, the guy was friendly and helpful, and I was in and out in about 3 minutes after I figured out where the supplies were (look to your left when you enter the store). Also - pickup for mail and packages occurs between 5:30 and 5:45 which isn't that bad.

I looked through my handbag two times, walked around the parking lot, and then did two internal circuits inside the post office - no key fob. The staff saw me puttering around and asked me if they could help me - Southern hospitality ftw. I ask if anyone has turned in a key fob - no dice. Thankfully, my dad is awesome and drove to get me the spare key fob that he keeps (because he is clearly more responsible than I will ever hope to be). If anything, giving him the spare copy is the smartest thing I have ever done. As I'm driving home, wracking my brain over what the heck I did with the dang thing, I realize that I was wearing a jumpsuit with pockets the day before and had put the key fob in a pocket... and promptly forgot to take it out. This would explain how I was able to unlock the car and drive over, but how after I dropped of the package, I was unable to get back in the car. I sort of resigned myself to ordering another one and shelling out the money, or trying to get in touch with the Express customer service center I was returning the rented jumpsuit to, but my dad suggested that I try heading back to the post office to see if they would be able to retrieve the package so I could look through it. I'm not a huge fan of masks, though I understand the reasons for them and will wear them, but I am sooo grateful that the post office staff couldn't see the embarrassment written all over my face when I walked back inside. One woman recognized me and when I told her where I thought the key fob was she nodded her head and stepped to the back. After a few minutes, she brought the package out and I opened it and... there it was. Thank you, sweet baby Jesus and the post office staff. They let me tape the package back up and we all shared a good laugh. I thought my former Fort Lauderdale post office was bad when it came to mail mis-delivery issues,…read morebut this one may take the cake. The line out the door was HORRIBLE, the parking lot was tiny and awful to navigate. My husband and I both have the free USPS service "Informed Delivery Daily Digest," which sends e-mails to you with pictures of the mail that is coming each day. Therefore, we know when mail is missing. Last week a refund check that was coming to my husband, that we got a scan of, went missing. Today I was missing a COBRA info mailing from my husband's former employer and another bill. I waited in line for 15 minutes only to deal with the most condescending, rude and unhelpful man. He was not one of the clerks, it was a taller African American man who looked to be some kind of manager. He told me there is no guarantee on pieces of mail being delivered and seemed like he could give two craps about my issues. How about some faked empathy? Why so rude and combative?? I guess it's MY problem that USPS is losing my mail and not his. I told him about my issues and he completely brushed me off. I have already written to my former congressperson in FL about my mail not being properly forwarded, but I guess I'll be writing to one here too and filing complaints online about the mail here.
