Pity too, we wanted to hire these folks. On Wednesday, a very nice gentleman named Ben came to the house. He was a no nonsense, get to work kind of guy. Quickly assessed all of our possessions and came back with a very reasonable estimate. After we received our final bid on Thursday, we called Ben back, the next morning. He had the day off and will be back on Sunday. Sounded odd. But what do we know about the moving business? We had the woman set our packing date for 11 days later on 8/22, while we waited for Ben to get back to us with more details. Long story short, no return call Sunday or Monday. My wife finally called Ben the next night and he told her that he and I had spoke and set everything up for the 22nd. But he and I never spoke. He's yet to call either of us. I'm not sure why he'd blatantly lie like that but if he isn't honest on a simple call to confirm he'd won the contract, seems to me nothing he said could be trusted. Low price is important. But these are our lifetime memories. Being able to trust the folks moving them is far more important. Here's another thought. They drive the load through Canada. Not the using the barge. I've driven the AlCan, twice. Not sure I want my valuables bouncing through Canada like that! 09/23

My former and current landlords BOTH forgot to tell me that I needed a permit to park a moving truck. Then they BOTH forgot to tell me other tenants from each building were also moving out. The move took longer than it should have because the elevator had to be shared with other movers lugging stuff. Moving Checklist: These are mostly things no one told I had to prepare for so here you go. You're welcome. -Parking Permits: Most big cities required it now. Depending on what permit type you need, you might be given special "No Parking" signs with the day and time of your move for you to post on the street. Do it, because moving truck parking tickets are paid by the people moving, not the moving company. I moved from Mid-Wilshire area to Pasadena -Check with your landlord to be sure no one else is moving on the same day as you. If someone else is moving that day, be sure you coordinate so as to not slow each other down with the elevator. -No trucks are allowed on the 110 North...I didn't know this and called my movers ahead of time so they could re-route. The gentlemen who delivered my fridge told me tickets for violations are upwards of $1,000. -Don't buy boxes. Check Craigslist, grocery stores or other businesses for free boxes. I packed a 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom and last year I moved a whole medical practice and didn't buy a single box.

We recently had an experience with Superior Refinishing, a shower and bathtub refinishing company,…read morethat we feel compelled to share. As apartment owners with experience managing over 16 properties, flipping homes, and renovating, we initially planned to replace the entire shower pan and walls ourselves. The estimated cost for the floor pan was $210, the walls $500, and a half day of our time. When we came across Superior Refinishing's services and received a quote of $750 after clearly expressing the scope of the project through an emailed video and a phone call where the walls were discussed, we were impressed with their number for the walls and shower pan and decided to proceed. The price was comparable to what we could have purchased the materials for ourselves and it would free up a Saturday of our time. However, after the individual performing the work left our home, we noticed only the floor pan was complete. After inquiring why only a partial job was done, we were informed that the price to do the floor pan and three shower walls would be $1,750. They then offered a "reduced" $1,400 price due to their miscommunication, which is still $650 more than the original quote. From a customer's perspective, one cannot help feeling that this is a "bait and switch." This is especially true because their website says "save 80% over installing a new tub." If we had known the $1,750 price at the beginning, we would not have proceeded. When we asked them to correct the issue, they sent us an email explaining they "do not do work for free," which was surprising to hear given they admitted to the miscommunication. We hope Superior Refinishing improves its business practices and ethics to avoid such issues in the future. Wishing them the best and a solid improvement in their operations.

After I contacted them, George, the owner came to our house within an hour or so and on the same day! He was very personable and knowledgeable. He found and diagnosed the leak within minutes. He said he would work up an estimate and get back to us. George got back with us the same day and with a very fair estimate. He let us know his crew would be available in a week or so. His crew showed up within a week. They were very polite and went to work right away. The crew found some other serious issues along the way and were able to repair those as well. They were able to match the existing shingles so the roof looks like the repair never happened. They completed the entire job that same day! This is a Great Business.

This was peak busy season and it didn't look like anyone would be able to get to my roof before winter. George came out to have a look and get me a quote, and somehow managed to fit me in 6 weeks ahead of schedule, and well before I had to worry about snow load. His team also diagnosed and corrected the issue that created the rot so it won't happen again. A few months later, a different section of roof developed an intermittent condensation leak and George made a few after-hours/short-notice trips to my house to see where the issue was and do some problem-solving.
