Working alone from home during the pandemic, I had recently moved to New York, only to find my couch stained by the moving company. Despite the company's high rating, the technician's behavior was concerning. Initially friendly and professional, the technician's accent made it difficult to understand him clearly. I had a line me chair that also needed to be cleaned but he said it couldn't be. His explanation however shocking as he mentioned that linen could not be professionally cleaned, recounting a personal anecdote of sexual fluids from his girlfriend about his own linen couch stain. Feeling uncomfortable, I made excuses to avoid conversation but he insisted to show me the phone with pictures of his couch. He kept staring at me trying to see my reaction but I quickly excused myself and reached out to a coworker to call me immediately providing a sense of support during the encounter. He was buff and I just prayed for him to finish the job and leave already. Reflecting on the incident, I realized the discomfort it caused me and felt compelled to share my experience. Getting a time and date that could work for my schedule was easy as they make themselves available quickly and even offer weekend visits. The site visit was scheduled and they followed up with me a few hours before confirming that they'd arrive a few minutes early and to check if that was ok. Yes, not late- but EARLY. A pretty rare experience for any service provider. The actual testing was thorough and easy. From a visual inspection and moisture testing tool to the high-tech inspection tool that sees moisture and heat through walls all the way to the air sampling Tal was efficient and explanatory. He specifically sampled each area that we were concerned about and was done in about 25 minutes. I was told that lab results and analysis could take a few days and we were all set. In only two days I got the official report back and confirmed I understood the analysis with an email exchange with Tal. It was great to learn everything was completely safe and no abnormal mold was present! Overall NYMS was an excellent experience and highly recommended.
