The OEM piece is constructed of a tube that is threaded, flared and bent to create the body of the lever. Other Hondas come with a more straight lever that can be cut and threaded with no modification, but that wasn't the case with mine. I brought the lever to Bill with my intended goal and after a short brainstorming session, we decided to first cut into the piece to see exactly what we would be dealing with. As was expected, it was a hollow tube with thin walls. Bill crafted a solid threaded insert with a tapered skirt to match the existing piece. The execution was spot on and the finished product serves me very well!

It appears the cause of the problem may have been damage to the piston when installing it into the cylinder or a poorly installed wrist pin. Either way the engine assembly did not occur properly. I paid this shop $3,500 for nothing. Now I have to pay to repair the damage they caused and to have the engine rebuilt again.
