This is the Spirit Airline of Europe. I experienced unprofessional staff at the check in counter on November 28 for my 10:25 AM flight from Rome (FCO) to Paris (ORY). The woman at the counter with caked on makeup and angry snarl got angry that she couldn't force us to check our carry on bag, and slammed my passport on the desk. I'm an avid traveler, and have never experienced such terrible behavior from check in personnel.

Lots of seating and dining options including some surprisingly inexpensive choices. I got a plate of sliced porchetta, just the meat, for just over €5. Very satisfying. The environment in T3, especially the upper dining floor, is cool, airy with lots of space, and surprisingly subdued in tone despite the volume of people. Relaxing, even! It's a little nerve wracking that the gates are announced so late, 30-45 minutes before boarding, but it's not much of a gauntlet to get to one's gate. T1 and T3 are easily accessible from the train. If you're looking for a last minute postcard drop, there are mailboxes inside T1 at the main departures level, just ask the person at the info booth. Check-in both times went smoothly and the service was courteous. Would appreciate this kind of service in North America. You can given bring up to 2L of liquids through security, gasp! Great airport. Can't wait to visit again!

Walked into a lounge and they told us we actually needed to go from Terminal 3 to 1, which was nice of them, and it was fortunately easy and quick to get between the two. Swung by Plaza Premium Lounge which was decent. They had some decent food including pasta, meat, and salad. Not remarkable but still a solid place to chill. Went to our gate about 50 min before the flight was departing and it was already boarding the earlier groups. Was able to line up, get on the plane quickly, and depart on time.

This isn't some regional jet - me and nearly 150 fellow travelers got to board one of two buses for a swaying drive out to the stand where we climbed up a flight of stairs to our plane. WTF, Air France. Rome is allegedly one of Europe's greatest cities. Why doesn't Air France have enough jetbridges? On the positive side, I arrived in Paris safely. We even got a boarding pass on the TAP app for the bus. Thirty minutes go by, then an hour. All of the workers at this point have left. So it is just our plane waiting in the airport for a bus that they told us was coming. Eventually an airport worker shows up and tells us there is no bus. He is not of much help due to the fact that he didn't work for air Portugal. It is around 2 am at this point. He told us we could get a hotel and that Air Portugal would PROBABLY reimburse us, but he did not know for sure since he didn't work for them. We ended up staying the whole night in the airport and rented a car the next morning to drive ourselves to Florence. We never received any communication from TAP Air Portugal regarding alternate transportation, accommodation, or what happened to the mysterious bus they told us was coming. I understand that they cannot control the weather. But to lie to an entire plane full of people and say that there is a bus waiting for us, lead us to wait for said bus, send us a new boarding pass, and then not have any communication when the bus never came is insane. We could have arranged alternate transportation ourselves earlier or at least went to a hotel at a decent hour (not 2 am when the airport worker finally came and found us).

When buying a ticket they sure make a big deal about a lounge, but the reality is different. It doesn't matter if a lounge is an amenity optionally provided. It doesn't matter if the airport is under construction. If a ticket was sold with lounge access, the airlines needs to provide it or give a serious refund in cash.

I had an excellent experience with Delta at FCO…read more Delta Customer service was very kind and efficient, and my bags were properly tagged to my final destination. Unfortunately, there's no delta sly club at this airport (under construction vs. not built??), but you can enjoy the ITA lounge. However, by the time you go through customs, and Italy's version of TSA, and then walk through the plethora of duty free shopping, you'll barely have time before you have to be at your gate. The main reason for the 5 star review was the wonderful service provided by delta flight attendants on both my flights. They were attentive and so personable! The plane was clean and the bathrooms (on both flights) were kept in impeccable condition. I flew economy on my way to Rome, and decided to upgrade to Delta first class (Delta One) on my return flight to USA. And I was treated with kindness and professionalism regardless of my class ..Bravo!! Overall, I highly recommend Delta to/from Rome (FCO).

So of course, we had to wait longer until everything was set up. What a mess.
