When in Rome... Nei tuoi occhi c'è il cielo! I love you;)

"Everyone has secrets. It's just a matter of finding out what they are..." - The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo Ciao! Riding Leonardo Express for the first time felt like The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Not so much Lisbeth in any psychological thriller, but instead for the fast moving trains and mysterious Italian agent encounters! Leonardo Express, just to make it clear, is the premium train headed from Leonardo da Vinci International Airport to the heart of Rome. The train does have return service too. It is obviously named after Leonardo da Vinci and not for Leonardo DiCaprio for all you millennials ;P It's convenient, affordable, and fast! On my journey I had several options. The first was a call I received from Paola, my lovely concierge, if I needed a limo from the airport. I politely declined as I'm one that enjoys being with the locals, so instead planned on catching the train in to Roma. Other transport options include: the metro buses, the white metered taxis, and the regular train service. The Leonardo Express was my choice - as it was a direct ride from the airport to Roma! More on Leonardo Express: It's a non-stop direct service that connects Roma Fiumicino Airport to Roma Termini in just 32 minutes, with scheduled departures every 15 minutes (every 30 minutes during non-peak hour). It's fast! 14€ Euros for a single ticket, valid for one journey, to or from Roma Fiumicino Airport. 1st Class Eurostar travelers ride free, as well as children 12 and under accompanied by paying adult. No limit luggage. Validate your ticket! In the end, I highly recommend Leonardo Express. The trains are immaculate and modern, roomy and comfortable. And before you know it I was in the heart of Roma! It's convenient, affordable, and fast! The bonus was the incredible sites along the way! I ended up catching a white metered taxi back to the airport from Vatican City, just because I was pressed for time, but it's no psychological thriller secret I would certainly ride Leonardo Express in a DiCaprio heart beat! Ti Amo!

Clean, cool, healthy and only locals. Great place to lunch if you are in the area and don't want a "restaurant" but more of a sit down and eat vibe. Fresh pizza slices, great place if you don't want a huge pasta or pizza dish, but still a nice lunch meal. The street it's on is casual, stylish and not full of tourist.

That level of communication and flexibility gave us confidence before we even arrived. Our guide and driver, Maria, was fantastic. She was warm, friendly, professional, and highly knowledgeable about the Amalfi Coast. One of my favorite parts of the entire day wasn't even originally part of the plan. Maria recommended that we start with a swim in Minori, and we decided to go for it on a whim. I'm so glad we did. She took us to a local beach rather than somewhere that felt designed specifically for tourists. Swimming in the Mediterranean surrounded by local families, listening to children laughing and speaking Italian around us, was one of those wonderfully simple travel moments that stays with you. It was beautiful, authentic, and such a special way to experience the Amalfi Coast. From Minori, we continued to Ravello, taking in the incredible scenery along the way. Maria's knowledge of the area, her recommendations, and her willingness to adapt the day to us made the experience feel personal rather than like a standard tour. We saved Pompeii for last, where we met our private guide, Rose Marie, who was phenomenal. Her depth of knowledge was remarkable, but just as importantly, she knew how to bring the ancient city to life. She was engaging, personable, and explained the history in a way that made us see Pompeii as a real city filled with real people rather than simply a collection of ruins. What made this excursion so memorable was the combination of expertise, flexibility, and genuinely wonderful people. From Jany's responsiveness and help arranging everything, to Maria giving us the freedom to experience something spontaneous and local, to Rose Marie making Pompeii come alive, we felt completely taken care of throughout the entire experience. This was easily one of our favorite days in Italy. I would enthusiastically recommend RomeInLimo and this wonderful team to anyone visiting the Amalfi Coast and Pompeii.

We used this service for the transfer to and from the airport as well as short hops to the train station, the Vatican, and the catacombs. They are punctual and communicate about your upcoming rides so you don't have to wonder if they are going to remember to pick you up. Drivers are friendly and helpful. I wish I could give more stars.

From the Latin word for baths "thermae", the name for the station "termini" derives its name from the nearby Baths of Diocletian, its ruins open as a museum opposite the street from the station's main entrance. Piazza dei Cinquecento is the large plaza in front of the station, containing a parking lot and bus stands, a tourist info booth. There is an extended length of ruins of an early 4th century BC Roman Servian Wall (a defensive wall encircling the earliest city boundaries) preserved just outside the station. It's viewable directly adjacent on the north edge of the street leaving the station. The design of station with floor-to-ceiling glass panels with a wave pattern allows commuters inside to admire the ruins from inside. Within the station, 29 train platforms mean plenty of train service, making Rome reachable from most major cities in Italy, and cities across Europe. The entrance hall is filled with restaurants, shops, a couple train lounges and a food court upstairs, car rental offices, post office, railway ticket office, and a tourist info desk. In the basement level has more shops including a grocery store, luggage holding service, and bathrooms. To access the platforms, you need to scan your ticket thru the turnstiles or scanned by the security attendants. The departure/arrivals locations and times are listed on the signs at the head of each platform. I purchased my tickets online in advance so only interaction was scanning my ticket which was quick and easy. The inside of station was clean though would say some of the signs to the platforms are a little confusing. You can find departures and arrivals information at: https://www.romatermini.com

It feels less like a standard train station and more like a mega-mall that happens to have tracks attached. The selection of stores, cafes, and markets here is fantastic--you can easily kill an hour shopping or grabbing a great bite to eat while waiting for a departure. Just a heads-up: give yourself plenty of extra time to reach your train. The platforms here are incredibly long, and if your train is assigned to one of the regional tracks or a high-speed engine waiting far down the line, it can be a massive, unexpected walk to get to your carriage. Keep your eyes on the departure boards and don't linger at the shops too long.

She answered all of my questions quickly and completely, and tailored our experience to what we wanted to see and do. My daughter and I booked a pick up from the cruise port of Civitavecchia and tour of Rome. Andrea was there to pick us up promptly and it felt like we had just reconnected with an old friend. He was very knowedgeable and personable. We were able to see all of the main attractions we wanted to see, and he utilized our time well, avoiding traffic. Andrea made reservations for us to enjoy lunch at a local restaurant where we sampled local food and wine. We were also able to go shopping for souvenirs and learn about the history of the area. We ot back to our cruise exhausted but happy from all we had seen and experienced. The following day, Andrea met us at the Naples port and we headed to Pompeii. He had arranged a private guided tour of Pompeii for us, which we thouroughly enjoyed. We then headed to Sorrento for lunch and shopping. It was a wonderful experience and I would definitely utilize their services again when we are able to return to Italy!

But on Trip Number Six, last week, I discovered an even EASIER mode of transit. You guessed it! Airport Shuttle Express was recommended to me -- er, rather forced upon me -- as I stood at the kiosk in the train station at the airport, trying to buy a train ticket into town. Although I hate being pressured into buying something by a fast-talking know-it-all, I bent to the will of the lady at the kiosk and agreed to buy a ticket for the shuttle instead of the train. And you know what? It worked fabulously. So much so that my hubby and I reserved seats for our return journey too. On the inbound ride we shared the van with two other couples, thus stopped at two hotels before ours, yet still made it there in the 40 min. estimated by hard-sell kiosk-lady. What's more, we passed some of the best scenery imaginable: we drove by the Pyramid, the Circus Maximus, the Colosseum, down the Corso, past Termini (waving to those poor folks taking the train), and near the Spanish Steps. The driver himself was extremely courteous and even pointed out some of the major monuments as we careened (safely of course) around -- but he didn't chat us up or try to engage us in conversation, which I appreciate after a long flight. When it came time to leave the Eternal City and we had scheduled our shuttle pick-up, the same gentleman was at our hotel waiting for us, calmly munching a saltine, fifteen minutes before our official pick-up time. Beyond punctual! Bottom line: At 40 min. door-to-door (!) and 15€ apiece (hardly more than the express train), not to mention the huge convenience of not having to lug baggage on/off trains and across the massive Termini station (you know how far the airport train parks from the station exit!), there's no question: Airport Shuttle Express is my new ride into Rome.

Unfortunately, the AC/ventilation in our compartment was barely working. We reported it immediately after boarding and were simply told to wait. After two hours, the cabin was still extremely hot. What made it worse was seeing other passengers being moved to cooler compartments, while we were not offered the same option. My wife is pregnant, and we asked if she could move to an available room because of the heat. We were even willing to pay for the room, despite it not being particularly clean. We weren't asking for a free upgrade--we just wanted a reasonable and comfortable place for her to rest. Our request was refused. Eventually, the staff acknowledged the problem and offered to refund our tickets. The lack of communication and the way this situation was handled were extremely disappointing. If the AC problem was known and other passengers could be moved, I don't understand why our situation wasn't handled the same way, especially with a pregnant passenger involved. We paid for a sleeping accommodation that we could barely use. Very poor customer service and an extremely frustrating experience.
