It's a terrible designed subway station, you need to follow the signs for transferring between A line and B line, or walking to the train station. The signs are not clear and often the passing through tunnel are closed without notice, and you have to make your way around.

Oh how I wish the United States would commit to establishing public transit like this in every major city. For a few euros you can travel for days around the country and see all the sights and sounds and critical landmarks of history. Beware of pickpockets. Overall it may smell a little bit... Or the smell could just be you :-)

A decent terminal, in a decent neighborhood. Not that nice inside, it looks like it needs major renovations.

Employees at this station are rude. This station charges to use the toilet. Would use another mode of transportation in the future.

I can honestly say that the best foods that we had while in Rome was at the Food Court at Termini!

The preceding station is Garbatella going toward Laurentina, and the following station is Circo Massimo going towards Jonio or Rebibbia. Ok the station is kinda dirty and unremarkable overall, it's a subway and a train station. Trains from here go to Ostia's beaches, but I went in the other direction to Trastevere quarter (rione) and the city centre. The station has escalators that can be in non-working condition. It seems to be a gathering place for the homeless and drunks as well. Little research shows that metro station was opened on February 10, 1955. The mosaics by Enrico Castellani from Italy and Beverly Pepper from the U.S., located in the atrium, have won the Artemetro Roma award. The Porta San Paolo station for the Ferrovia Roma-Lido line runs alongside the metro station. The Stazione di Roma Ostiense, from where main lines FR1, FR3, and FR5 run, is connected to the metro station through the underpass.

The station is in a convenient location for tourists who are heading to the Colosseum and Roman Forum. There is work to make this an Interchange Station however this is not complete yet and the works are currently expected to take until 2025. Like the Colosseum, a lot of scammers seem to circulate within the station and just outside, and do be aware of pickpockets which seem to target this stop in particular on the Rome Metro, I did find the concourse to be quite busy and I did notice a lack of seats throughout the station for demand. I would also advise purchasing tickets beforehand for the same reason, as the ticket hall can be so crowded with queues for the machines, especially when a ticket machine is out of order. If you do have to use a ticket machine, there is an English language option. The platform area seems really worse for wear as well, and it just felt like a letdown compared to metro systems in other cities in particular such as Lisbon and Stockholm. No escalators - steps only! 3* - The location is great for tourists, but the station its-self requires a lot of work.

It's super busy but conveniently is very close to a lot of stuff in Rome, so for day trips or if you are staying nearby it's very convenient. The uber pickup area is a little hard to find, through a nondescript hallway, but getting an Uber worked pretty easily for us. In the past I've had no issues getting cabs as well - at least not no more issue than anywhere else in Rome.

When we went to Stazione Termini to catch the Frecciarossa to Florence, I figured we were in for another grand architectural marvel. It was almost a relief to find an ugly modern train station, built in the 1940s, with a utilitarian, vaguely dingbat/carceral aesthetic. Termini is Rome's main train station, and apparently the fifth-busiest in all of Europe. It was pretty bustling both times we were there, on a Tuesday and Thursday in November. I imagine it gets crowded during peak tourist season. Our high-speed train ran on time and was definitely the best way to get to Florence and back. We spent minimal time in the station itself, but it seemed like a lively, functional place, with a lot of shops and restaurants. Termini may not be a seminal Roman landmark, but it's clearly an essential part of life in Rome.

The Rome Metro, called Metropolitana di Roma in Italian, is the Eternal City's main medium of public transport. It began its operation in 1955, making it the oldest system of its kind in Italy. Seeing as it is quite small, navigating the Rome underground is very straightforward. The main thing to remember is that Roma Termini is the connection point between lines and just about every other transport in the Eternal City. Out of the three lines, only A, which appears red or orange on maps, and B (the blue line) are completed and are the ones that pass through the most landmarks, such as the Vatican Museum, the Colosseum, the Spanish Steps, etc. Line C is a new line gradually being opened in stages. My partner, our friends, family member, and I used it for 2 days during our stay. A single ride costs €1.50 and is valid for 100 minutes on a combination of metro, buses, and trams. But we bought a €12.50 ticket valid for unlimited metro, bus, and train travel within Rome for 48 hours from validation.
