Ottaviano is the nearest metro station to the Vatican. It opened in 1980 and is on Line A of the Rome Metro.
There is work to make this an Interchange Station however this is not complete yet and the works are currently expected to take until 2025.
The platform area is reasonable, I much prefer it to some stations on the network including the one at the Colosseum.
I found it easy to navigate around the station, although being on just one line, I wouldn't expect anything else, there are some signs in English around the station which is ideal for tourists. The same English option is available for the ticket machines.
It is steps only here - so it wouldn't be very disabled-friendly, although there are seats on the platform.
3* - Pretty standard subway station, useful location and will hopefully be made better once the works have taken place. read more
