A few years ago, my beloved airline changed its partners and I moved back east, leaving my airline loyal heart in a state of depressed and foggy uncertainty. Recently, my very certain and clear hotel loyalty offered me a new opportunity to bring my hotel and airline loyalty game to a new level of awesomeness, but it would mean moving to a domestic airline I'd never flown...well, today was the day of the test run...United Airlines, you exceeded my expectations and much to my own surprise, won a new customer...I'm still stunned. Their partnerships with Marriott/Ritz-Carlton, Hertz, Lufthansa and Austrian formed the winning "quad-fecta"...yes, it's a thing...shut-up The plane was in perfect condition, the crew and service were extraordinary, and the vodka tonic was world class...lol...plus I got MY seat. Those who know me best also won't be surprised that I spent months reading up on them...from strategic plan, to reviews and everything in-between. United is quietly doing some truly extraordinary things to elevate their game and customer experience. I am one very tough customer who is noting those efforts and appreciating their outcomes. Just made a trip to Madison, Wisconsin and back to Tucson. The trip went very well. There was great communication from the the airline gate changes, etc. I was notified as well as the time it would take to get from my landing gate to the gate that I had to go to next the seats themselves were very comfortable even the one in the very back of the airline and the staff was very friendly I would definitely recommend this airline. read more

I was flying from Austin Texas to visit my sister's wedding and was heading back home to Arizona. I was the unfortunate soul that got diverted. I was on my way to Phoenix but because of a huge storm we ended up landing into Tucson Arizona. The airline employees in Tucson handled the situation better than I would have. I would like to give props to the employees, regardless there was nothing they could do due to the heavy rain, but they gave me a meal voucher and told me I can drive to Phoenix and they will deliver my bags. I didn't get my bags until a day later but I am pretty sure everyone else got their bags late too. I got refunded my uber and a travel credit for my late bag. There was an employee at the gates that handled the whole situation and answered everyone's question. The only reason why this is not a five star review is because there were so many people in the gate area that I couldn't find a place to sit or eat. All the restaurants had long lines and there were only two restrooms inside security. So they need to fix that and maybe I'll consider flying through Tucson Arizona. read more

United Airlines how can I dislike you, let me count the ways! I have a love hate relationship with this airline. I love it because they are one of the only ones that flies Tucson to Colorado Spring which means I'm visiting family. Everything else I pretty much dislike! Last weekend was a great example. United cancelled my connecting flight from Denver to Colorado Springs (the plane I was departing on never arrived!) So I ended uap staying in Tucson to depart again the next morning. So the next morning I arrive in Denver for my 10 am connection to Colorado Springs and have 3 gate changes in a matter of 2 hours right after I arrived only for the flight to be cancelled, again?!? Not sure what's going on but that definitley seems excessive to me. Now mind you I understand that bad weather affects the airline industry, but there was no bad weather in Denver or Colorado Springs, it was in Aspen where the plane was coming from two days in row. What they didn't tell me was there were 3 other flights avaialble that day that they could have booked me on but didn't ( and the planes were there on the ground already! ) All of the staff at United from the gates to the customer service center were less than amenable to deal with. The gate agents all gave me that blank stare and said the "well these things happen" comment but no apology or anything to make up for the cancelled flights last night or today. I realize weather impacts the ariline industry but you can provide good support and alternative methods of travel to correct the problem. I was told you can catch a shuttle and United "might" reimburse you!?#$ So the flight cancellation happened twice due to an incoming flight. Several flights went out all day for Denver to Colorado Springs and I was placed on a very long wait list, which would have wasted my entire weekend. So...... I ended up catching a ride from Denver to Colorado Springs so my entire weekend wasn't wasted. So needless to say I wont be flying on United anytime soon, my advice is neither should you! read more

There were weather delays. Understandable. I was flying home to Chicago on Flight 1508 out of Tucson to ORD. The flight was scheduled for Thursday, Feb 17 at noon and ended up flying out at 6 a.m. on February 18th. Okay. Weather. I get it. Here's the part that brought me to write this review: I was flying home to Chicago because I was going through a divorce, and have stage iv breast cancer. I had slept in the airport. The whole week had been one of the saddest, most difficult, most awful of my life. I was sad, so I treated myself to a first class ticket with United - something I had never done before. Exhausted in body, mind, and spirit, I hoped to find some respite in first class. And then I met my flight attendant, Carlton (Carleton?) whose name I only know because I asked him for it toward the flight's end. This man was more rude to me than any flight attendant in economy has ever been. Maybe I didn't fit the bill of what he thought a "first class passenger" should be/look like. I don't know. What I know is this: I am partially blind (no joke) and when he showed me the snack boxes of food, in the pre-sunrise dark, I could not read the labels and instead of explaining to me what he was offering, he pointed firmly at the words on the label and said "READ" and I said "sorry, my eyes are bad." Nervous, I grabbed a box out of his hand not even knowing what it was. Later, because of my vision, sleeplessness (had slept in Tucson Intl), and grief, I tried to find the bathroom. When I asked him where it was he pointed and condescendingly remarked, "Good luck in there." I was mortified. Later, I could not get on to wifi. So I politely asked Carlton "Excuse me, is the wifi down?" He replied "nope" and breezed past me. During our descent, I asked him his name. His attitude changed some after he realized all I wanted was "his name." He got a little nicer. I don't know what his problem was. I know things are tough in America right now -- I know I just had to resign from my post as a public school teacher, a job I loved, due to health/family issues, another thing I was grieving on my "first class" flight to Chicago on February 18th. In short, I was having the saddest day of my life and he made me feel even worse. OH, did I mention that prior to the flight a United employee at check in told me to "ditch" my dog? I did and will now have to fly back to Tucson in a few weeks to retrieve him and drive him cross country. I have to fly United one more time. I'm dreading this. Hopefully, it will be my last time on this miserable carrier. Carlton, I wish you well. I hope you never have the kind of lousy experience you provided me, on a plane, on your worst day. read more

I flew 1st Class from Atlanta to Tucson. The flight from Atlanta to Houston was without any special service for first class other the my drink came in a glass. We weren't offered ear buds or snacks. It was my least recommended 1st class flight experience. The seats were slightly bigger but just kinda dirty. There was dirt on the wall next to my seat. The seat had a stain on it. Just not first class worthy. I really should be refunded for the ticket. read more

So far the worst airline and customer service I've experienced thus far. Tried to check in my luggage and this one older Filipina ( SF airport) was extremely unscrupulous, rude and unprofessional . She's obviously tired and exhausted but so are we. Flight was delayed for more than 3 hours. As we were leaving Arizona back to the Bay Area, another flight delay ( more than 2 hours this time). The most disappointing part of this is they will inform you last minute instead of giving you time to do something more relaxing . 1 star is an understatement . read more

Arriving to Tucson from L.A. in the evening on December 2, I was waiting for one piece of luggage. As soon as I saw it coming around on the baggage claim, I noticed that one of the flaps on the side was wide open, exposing the items inside. It turns out that a zipper had been ripped off. I wheeled the luggage over to the customer service for luggage. A person just sat there without asking any questions. The only comment they made was "we don't cover zippers." As we all know, the zipper is an extremely important part of any bag or luggage. For them to claim that they don't "cover zippers" is extremely convenient for them! Think about that ... an employee of the "largest" airline in the industry (if you go by what's stated in Wikipedia) makes the claim that they don't cover zippers! I've already been to one seamstress (threading needs to be removed before installing another zipper to the track) who refused to even consider repairing it (even though it's not a big job). Now I have to continue to waste my time searching for someone to repair it (or get supplies to do it myself) and eventually wasting my money because "United" Airlines doesn't cover zippers. This means that they can break your zippers, but they don't have to do anything about repairing them. Makes perfect sense, right? Completely fair, right? Anyhow, rethink what "United" Airlines means when you fly with them from now on ... and get yourself something to PROTECT YOUR ZIPPERS. Sounds like the slogan for a new campaign, no? :) read more

They need to get it together on cordinating connections so people don't miss flights. If they are late they need to hold the plane so passengers don't have to run the length of the airport only to be left. I will never choose this airline because of the hassle it caused my family. read more

My flight packed to the brim and the AC was not turned on until about an hour into the flight... but the real reason I am writing this review is because the person next to me had there nose out of there mask for a 2 hour flight and not a single flight attendant said a word about it. I am a mid 20 y/o female who was struggling to fit her carry on in the headspace and the attendant just watched me struggle, holding up the line instead of helping me get it on and off.. shitty service read more

Have you ever had your bag lost and called in to try to find it's location? First you have to listen to 3 commercials because apparently that's acceptable to do to people whose luggage you've already lost. So United has proven once again why they SUCK! I paid $1200 for 2 tickets from Tucson to Washington DC. 2 months prior to my travel date. When I get to the airport, my single bag for my wife and i was 8 pounds over and instead of charging $25 for an extra bag fee they charged $100 as a penalty! Then we find out we cant have carry on due to cheap price I paid for this flight. It only gets better from there.... When we arrive in Houston, I find out my wife are sitting in different rows. Really! I made this reservation 2 months in advance and they can't put us together. I will never fly United again as long as they treat customers like CRAP! read more

What is the point of having a Premier Access line if no one services it? Service I with United in tucson sucks! I don't ask for much for all the miles I fly w/ them. My estimated wait time on the "premiere" iine was 5 minutes. That was an hour and a half ago. I've been listening to their 5 bars of tinny hold music while I fight the urge to jump out the window. There has been no revised hold time, option to call me back, or heaven forbid - a person who answers the phone to help you. I traveled from Gillette Wyoming to Tucson the other day. When I put my luggage on the scale in Gillette it was a perfectly good piece of luggage. My case WAS a black hard case with the handle molded in. When it arrived in Tucson the retractable handle and frame were broken off. I went to baggage claim and a rude man named Alvaro who's customer service skills are non-existent looked at my bag, gave me a number to call and said we don't cover that. I called the number given to me and received a case number and was told to go back in and the Tucson people would take care of me. I did, Alvaro said he was surprised I got a case number and called his boss Shawn. Shawn would not come downstairs to deal with me and when asked to speak with him on the phone Alvaro refused to give me the number or let me speak with his boss. I seem to be out of a piece of luggage I have traveled all over the world with. 24 hours after leaving my bag Shawn called and said they would do nothing for me. I plan on making more noise at a corporate level. I am also filling out the survey United Airlines sent via email and trust that these two worthless employees will get mentioned. We all pay to check baggage, why can't we get help when they, the airline breaks our personal property? We pay for flights and when we travel for work checking a bag is a must when you are gone weeks at a time. I will make every effort to not travel on United, I will at every opportunity warn people about the unprofessional staff in Tucson and I will continue to use social media to share my story to prevent others from being treated like me. read more

United, I gave you another try for my trip for Thanksgiving. I had a confirmation number for my flight. I tried to print my boarding pass, your website wasn't able to do this after 10 tries. Two other people in my family tried this morning and it didn't work either. I checked-in at the airport to be told that there was a problem with the Mileage Plus ticket that I purchased in September. The person at the check-in had no idea what to do. He handed me a piece of paper and told me to call Mileage Plus. After talking to 2 different people at Mileage Plus, they told me that I couldn't get on the flight because it was then under 1 hour prior to boarding. The check-in person said there were 3 seats open, you told me there were none. The other check-in girl said the process to sell me a ticket took too long so she wasn't willing to help. I once again called reservations, after 15 minutes, they couldn't figure it out later. I would like to be reimbursed for my flight that I am now flying on US Airways, the shuttle back to my hotel my meals and the hotel room. I tried to call again tonight to see what I could workout, the lady at your reservation desk was yelling at me saying it was all my fault. Never again. read more

I truly believe that every airline has it's mix-ups and downfalls, but this one really takes the cake. They have the worst on-time rate out of all the other airlines and their customer service is terrible. My wife and I were traveling out of Tucson to LA and then to Alaska, however we were delayed in Tucson 3 Hours because they had to change a tire on the aircraft coming to Tucson. Now fast forward to yesterday and today. Our kids are both military and coming home for Christmas and both have reserved seats to come to Tucson. Our son was delayed in San Diego 4 hours and finally got a flight to San Francisco only to find out of course that his connecting flight was gone. Then he was supposed to have a reserved seat on the next flight out and come to find out the rep in SD cancelled his seat. So now someone who has paid for tickets to come all the way home is now on standby. So he tried and tried to get on a plane and even called customer service to find out why or what he can do. It pissed me off because we haven't seen our son for 2 years and now this f'ing airline is making seem like it is his fault. So they tell him he's confirmed on a flight the next day at 3 pm. which is Saturday. He was supposed to be in Tucson at 6 pm. on Friday. He is still on a standby list which chaps my hide because he paid his hard earned money to come home and he's sleeping in an airport all because of some dumb idiot who cancelled his seat and has no care in the world. Our daughter on the other hand is flying out of Maryland and yes the weather is bad, totally understandable, but I have worked around airplanes for 30 years, 22 in the Air Force and it blows me away that an airline cannot have an aircraft ready and deiced prior to it's scheduled take off time. So she is now 2 hours delayed and god knows what'll happen in Houston. So thanks United for making our holiday season so uncheerful. read more
