I have been going to Unique Nails for about 7 years now. I was a more frequent customer when I had acrylic nails. Now I come when I can fit it into my schedule for a mani/pedi. I have read some of the negative reviews on here and have to laugh but resize everyone's expectations and experiences will be different. The metal nail instruments are all sterilized with heat in an autoclave, after being washed and cleaned (I have seen them do this) and you can see it in the back. New packets have been opened in front of me every time. When it comes to Emory boards new ones are not used for each customer. That's just not economical. If a Customer is concerned about that bring your own they are happy to use it. The same applies for nail polish. I've seen the owner turn customers away who have fungus or damage to their nails. As far as clean goes, it's very clean. Yes there is fingernail dust under the glass at the tables but in the am there is not, that is cleaned daily. The towels are washed and sterilized and maybe used more than once but unless someone has damage to their nail, the finger nail dust won't hurt you. The massage chairs are WONDERFUL! I usually get the deluxe pedicure which is $35. It's a massage of your feet and lower leg, full pedi, nail colour and lotion. It's 30-40 min (depending on the tech) of pure heaven. The manicures could use a little more pampering like the pedicures have. It's pretty straight forward. But with the gel polish and great technique it's worth it. My nails always look great!!! This pedi was phenomenal. I would highly recommend going here. Upon entering, they ask you to wash your hands. I did not have to wait to be seated. I received a scented pedi along with the hot towels. My massage was great. I've never had anyone just rub or lightly touch the ankles before. It was very relaxing. She took her time. I had my big toes previously painted, but she did not ask if I wanted a design when she painted them. My toes (from long nails) no longer hurt and they felt much relief. She trimmed them all and cut them down to a great Length. It was a good pedi. Price was comparable to what I pay at home. read more

I am only giving 4 stars because I had gone in for just a fill of pink and he ended up doing a pink and white fill. I guess what I needed was lost in translation. However, I am extremely happy with how my nails turned out. I will definitely be going back and I'm sure we will have better communication next time. They also gave my daughter a mani/pedi. She was very happy. I will say though that they should turn off the lifetime movie channel. I don't enjoy any of the movies on that network and would prefer my daughter didn't watch those kinds of shows either. This is the best nail salon I've been to in this area. Everyone who works here is good at shaping nails. The pedicures are absolutely the best I've had, with a good amount of massage time. They're all nice and they speak highly of their salon owner. She is usually there helping them and doing nails herself. They do require a mask, and I'm good with that. I almost never write bad reviews but if it spares someone from getting a manicure as awful as the one I just got- I'm glad. You can tell the tech didn't enjoy his job at all. Didn't listen to what I was asking for on the nail length (I wanted short), the file job is super uneven, There's bubbles in the gel and the hand massage was so short I had to rub the little bit of lotion in myself because it was just sitting on my arm. Not what I'd expect for the typical $30 gel manicure. I wont be back and highly recommend you go somewhere else. read more

I have gotten my nails done 3x at this salon. The lady who sits at the first station on the left has done them twice and she did a great job. I had no issues and could go almost 3 full weeks between fills. I went in last Saturday and she was not there so a man did them and they were AWFUL. He was very ruff and cut my cuticles with the drill to the point I have scabs. The paint job was spotty because he was rushing. (I think he wanted to go outside and smoke.) He shaped them weird and got acrylic all over my skin. It's been one week and all but 3 of my nails have lifted to the point they needed to be removed. Love this nail salon! I've been coming here over 10 years. Of course I have my favorite technicians but I could go to anyone in the salon and still get a great gel manicure and pedicure. I've read some of the reviews and had to laugh when they say the salon isn't clean. I've personally seen them clean each pedicure tub after every use. I have been coming to this salon for many years. Everyone that works here is super nice and always accommodating. While many people may have a different experience, I disagree with some of the reviews of this salon. For everyone complaining about the wait, schedule an appointment. It's that simple. They have new chairs, which are very relaxing. After every pedicure, the lining in the pedicure bowl is changed. They also use disposable tools for an additional charge. The owner is personable, always asking about my family and how I'm doing. There is minimal turnover here and most of the ladies have been here for a long time. I don't know why I even continue to come here. I have had one good experience out of around 6. I had an appointment at another place I couldn't make & I came here and had very little time. I got just a quick polish change and the woman didn't even take off the polish that was previously on. They also can't stay on my toenails which I don't understand why and even if you can't why can't you fix it.... I gave the place 4 stars once because the manager was so nice after reading my original Yelp. The techs I have been to are just not even trying to do a good job. Oh well. I definitely cannot give them another chance, they've had to many and I keep wasting my money. As soon as I get home from that place I take the polish off and do them myself. So I've been coming here for years and I love it, but I got SNS with tips and I have never hated something more. I was rushed in and rushed out, all my nails are different lengths, he didn't clean under the nail and half of the tips are glued to my finger. If you don't know how to do sns, just say so. I've been to Unique Nails a few times and yesterday was no different. The facility is clean, and they have an excellent selection of polishes. Their services are extremely affordable; for $20 you can get a standard pedi with polish and for $30 you can get the pedi AND manicure. I believe the deluxe pedicure with hot stones is only $5 more. They also have private rooms for waxing and eyebrows and offer a few special nail services like shellac and minx. Once seated, the employees work fast to get you done but do expect a little wait at the door if you're just walking in. We went at 2:30 on a Friday and they were packed! Super happy! I've tried about 6 places since moving to FL before finding this one and I will be back! I've had the regular for $20 and today tried the deluxe for $30 pedicures and both were worth it! The place is clean and the pedicure lasts they clearly don't use old nail polish. WHY is it so hard to find a decent, clean nail place in Tampa? Reviewers who have mistaken this place for either of those two things are either blind or have stunningly low standards. I made an appointment for a mani/pedi, showed up 5 minutes early, signed in and then waited. And waited. And waited. Are you sensing a theme here? 25 minutes past my appointment time, I got the "privilege" of being moved from the waiting area to the work station NEXT to the one I would eventually be at, perhaps so I could watch the girl that should have been working on my nails all along instead do a mani for someone else. FINALLY, 30 minutes past my appointment time, I got to move to the right chair. The nail tech didn't introduce herself but the license buried underneath all her stuff said her name was "Yen." I told Yen I no longer had time for the pedi. She was SHOCKED. I was like, really? You just made me wait 30 minutes past my appointment time; I have a life, you know, and a reason I'd made an appointment. She blew me off with a smile, saying they just got busy. Yeah, I should've "got busy" going elsewhere. . . So glad my time is meaningless to them. So shellac came off and Yen reached for the same emory board that she'd used on the woman before me -- WOAH, Yen. There's a hygiene issue here. She laughed at me when I asked for a new emory board. I reminded her that a new board was a good way to ensure I didn't end up with a raging staph infection, or worse, and a good way to make sure she didn't end up liable for my resulting medical bills. She hunted down a new board. But little missy just didn't seem to learn her lesson for, several minutes later, Yen reached for the same buffer she'd used on the woman before me - and, judging by the amount of nail dust, dead cells, and other muck caking this thing - every other woman whose nails she'd done this year. Again, I asked for a new item. Again, Yen laughed at me. It took her a good 10 minutes to hunt down a new buffer, which, quite frankly, is a bit scary. Thank goodness I'd brought my own polish because every bottle I opened was old, gloopy, and gross. Many of the bottles were so old they had actually separated. Yuck. Polish job was sketchy - she didn't have me wash my hands (ie, remove cuticle oil and lotion from my nails) before applying base coat. She sprayed (somewhat haphazardly) every other finger with what I guess was alcohol, but didn't really wipe it off to make sure the oils were gone. Base coat application was downright sloppy - I had to point out several spots she'd missed. I'm about 18 hours in and I don't have chips, but my red OPI polish isn't looking shiny, like it should. In sum: there's no consideration for scheduling or time management at this place. I don't know about the other techs, but the one I got was rude - had I been her manager and witnessed how she'd treated me, I would've fired her on the spot. And her technique left A LOT to be desired. Pass, people. Spend the extra money and go to a real spa with techs who know what they are doing and won't treat you badly. Tried this place out for a pedicure and backfill on my acrylics since the girl I normally see it out of town. I won't be coming back. I asked for the lady to check my ingrown nails. She told me she did but I know she never even touched them. Then did my acrylics - didn't like the way they were shaped and asked to just have nail polish put on top. I have bumps and spots with no polish. After I was "done", she told me how much ... It was more than when I asked what the price was before I said down. The salon is clean and cute inside. The price is excellent as well. But, I came in for a polish change on my toes, and a gel soak off and new gel on my hands. She did a great job on my toes, but the manicure was pretty rough. She kept painting on my actual skin and couldn't get an even coat on any of them. She had to redo my entire right hand. So while I do appreciate that she took the time to fix it, it was still lackluster. My gel started peeling from multiple fingers in about 2 weeks. I don't think I'd go back. read more

If i could give it 0 i would. Yesterday i went to get my nails done and my 7 years old nails as a birthday gift for her. An older guy was doing my nails i showed him a picture of what i wanted ,i was clear when i said i wanted them a little thicker than what they usually do them, short and that i didn't mind paying more (money wasn't the issue). My nails were looking awful afterwards and i told him nicely to fix them, his attitude towards me was that he couldn't and that i asked for them to be that way! He even told a lady working there that picky people like me should have gone to another place. I told him that his attitude was completely unprofessional and nasty. My daughters nails were awful as well. He also told me that my pedicure was to be done by somebody else cause he wasn't going to do it for me. This is the first time i have a situation like this and im being treated like crap in a nail salon in front of my daughter. To mention nobody apologized and my complaint was completely ignored.
