I came here for the first time and I'm disappointed. First, let me start off with the background and the things I did like. I found this place online and checked out their website. I liked that they list various services and their prices as some places don't list prices at all. It was also super easy and convenient to schedule an appointment through the system on their site. I made the first appointment for the day and arrived a few minutes early. I loved the inside with their high ceilings, open space, modern set up with seating in various places. I saw a bar area with a coffee maker, drink fridge, and wine glasses. I loved their plants all throughout the place. The woman who started on my nails was nice. We didn't talk at all except minor exchanges about my nails. She mostly spoke with her peers. When I came in, I had grown out dip powder on my nails with a design from a different place. Once she started to take it off, I noticed my nails were pretty thin so I asked for them to be cut short. She did and then started to file my nails in more of a square so I had to ask for them to be round. What I'm most disappointed about is the leftover dip/base (not sure what the proper term is) on my nails. I had asked for a clear coat and towards the end noticed it looked like the previous base was still on my nails and it wasn't scraped off. If you look at the pictures I attached, you'll notice more of a textured look on my nails and a kind of pink line which is the previous salon's doing with the dip powder. The space between that line and my cuticle is the nail growth. You may ask why I left with my nails looking like that without having them fix it. Honestly, I was over it and wanted to leave as quickly as possible. I also wish I was offered a water or a coffee or something since I saw the set up/area for it. At first I thought maybe it's because of covid, but in recent customer reviews I saw people with glasses of wine. I personally won't be back though others have had great results here. read more

initially i was blown away by the appearance of the shoppe. an apparent bar, slightly more modern music than your typical place, and kept pretty clean. i thought i had found the coolest nail place around. however, while the first woman to work on me was okay, not overly friendly or very communicative but certainly fine, the second woman that started working on me later was not at all. - was facetiming someone WHILE doing my nails - showed visible upset i didn't want to upgrade to higher priced service - didn't realize i partially understood what she was saying to other employees there outside English and i heard her poke fun at one of the young ladies that came in during my visit. - when i left another person there caught up with me and discussed how rude she was so it was not only me. it's incredibly unfortunate when people are taking your money for a service you want for yourself and they have zero gratitude you chose their business, gave them time, patience, and good energy even during something as terrible as them facetiming for personal reasons WHILE working on you. i will never return and it's too bad because i was truly so stoked when i first walked in and remained hopeful even as things went downhill. i'm sure there are many more places in the area that would treat their clients with much more respect...and to be honest, if not, you guys it's time for us to start learning to this this stuff for ourselves at home. absolutely ridiculous to spend money for mistreatment like this. I went here for as a walk-in looking for a manicure, and was told to wait for about 15 minutes, and then when they finally acknowledged me, it was the most uncomfortable setup, my back was hurting when I finally left. The overall gel manicure was very underwhelming, and as I was walking out I felt like I wasted my time and money. (My gel didn't even last the week for some reason) However, despite that I gave them the benefit of the doubt, and went back. (we all have bad days) The second time I came I called ahead and made an appointment for a gel pedicure. Even with the appointment they told me they were too busy, when I reminded them of the appointment they said they overbooked and I would have to wait 35 minutes. So I ran some errands and came back.. once I came back it only got worse. I have never in my life left in the middle of a service, but this was so egregious I left mid appointment. After they had already made me wait 35 minutes past my appointment time, when they finally sat me in a pedicure chair, I sat there for an additional 20 minutes with no one attending to me. It felt like the lady spent more time cleaning the pedicure bowl that had just been used than she did on me. Over the next 40 minutes all she did was remove my gel color (which took 15 minutes of me just sitting and no one working on me) she then shortened my nails, and lotioned my leg. When she started on my cuticles she made me bleed, and proceed to snap at me for jumping back when she hurt me. After that I decided to leave. I offered to pay and they were bold enough to charge me $40 for just removing the gel color. This place is a ripoff!! It is a really cute setup, but HORRIBLE service. Do yourself a favor go ANYWHERE else! This place doesn't even deserve 1 star. read more

This nail bar is amazing!! My step-daughter and I enjoyed a lovely afternoon getting our nails done; I got gel polish over natural nail. The staff is incredibly polite and respectful of my wishes; I told them I don't want anything sharp near my big toe b/c of an ingrown nail. We had a lovely experience! Less than a week later, I jammed my finger and broke a nail. The ladies fixed it for me at no charge!! Amazing!! On a different visit, I decided to get acrylics and I had inspiration photos. The ladies discussed with me what was the best way to move forward, and I should have listened!!! I went my own way and started nitpicking, terrible idea!! I loved them until I got home, they were just too long for me. I went back the next day to have them cut shorter. They didn't complain or roll their eyes, we just laughed as I apologized profusely for not listening to the professionals the night before!!! After another 1.5hrs they look perfect!!! I told the ladies "it's exactly what I didn't know I always wanted!", ombré pink /white base, and ombré glitter tips. My anniversary nails turned out perfect!! Thank you to all the staff! read more

My first visit to Unique Nail Bar was good. I read reviews here on yelp and then visited their website to find out what services they offered and their prices. I called the salon for an appointment, they said they could see me at 1:30. I arrived around 1:20 and waited until a bit after 2:00 to be seated in a pedicure chair...more waiting and, after a bit of confusion (I had advised them I wanted my manicure first), I was moved to a table where Helen did my manicure. After the manicure, Helen moved me back to the chair to do my pedicure. My manicure and pedicure turned out very nice and Helen gives a great leg/foot massage. I took off one star because the prices stated on their website are not the prices they are charging. Website prices: $15 manicure/$23 pedicure; actual prices: $20 manicure/$27 pedicure. This shop is so close to home I'm sure I'll return...and I'll be prepared to pay what they are actually charging. read more

The pricing at this nail salon is extremely good!! Only 100$ for dip manicure and gel pedicure. Unfortunately my nails chipped after a week, they were dip with gel on top but the ends were not sealed with gel polish so they ended up chipping easily. They looked really good initially but I think she forgot to file them until the end so she filed the ends and they broke really easily. My gel pedicure still looks really good though! read more

Wow I can't believe how unprofessional they are here. My first time here was amazing even though they lied to me about timeframes. I wrote Henry's name down and told him I'd be back. I called to make an appointment with Henry and I come in and they take me right away. They weren't busy at all. Henry wraps my nails in acetone and another lady is doing my pedicure. Henry literally leaves with acetone in my nails. FOR 30 MINUTES HE IS GONE WITH ACETONE ON ME. my finger literally started to feel cold and bad and I can tell all the ladies were wondering were he was. I'm thinking someone will come take the acetone wraps off my nails but no I had to ask. And the only available tech was an older lady that was so slow. My pedicure finished and Henry got back and just got started on my nails. He was frazzled, sweaty and didn't apologize or even acknowledge what the hell just happened. Nobody did. I wanted a pure white dip on my nails and as he was doing them I told him it's translucent white, that's not wait. He argued with me saying that it's white. I said look at my toes to compare the white, this is not the white I want. He proceeds to show me that the powder color is white and that this is white. I was so pissed and frustrated at this point and so far in that there was no turning back. I was there 3 hours!!!! They don't care about your time at all. I go to pay and the lady charging me I will not pay for the dip. She brought another lady and they said I'm sorry Henry has to go take his mom to physical therapy and he spent the time on your nails so you have to pay but you can come back again and we will fix for you. So ridiculous as I was leaving town for a month!! They are so unprofessional and so hungry for money but not hungry for treating their customers and keeping them happy. Ew. If their place didn't look as nice as it did it would NOT survive. And with all these bad reviews, I urge you to trust them. It's not worth going and having a bad day. I wanted pink, Holographic, Gel nail polish (No acrylic/ no Fake Nails, just on my natural nails) for both mani and pedi... I asked the lady and he says, "yes we do!" I'm literally in the car outside so upset because of how terrible this place is. I had a 4:00 appointment and came 9 minutes late. You know, mom life and getting out of the house when kids are attached to you. Hired a sitter to come watch the kids so I can get away for an hour and get a pedicure. I come inside and tell them I'm sorry that I'm a few minutes late. She said it's fine and to go pick a color. I picked a color right away because I don't care about color, and she said no take your time pick another color. So I'm waiting there for 5minutes. She comes back and tells me to go sit down on the chair. I sit down, take off my shoes and my socks and waiting for my pedicure. She comes back five minutes later and gives a towel under my feet. I asked her to turn on the water, so at least I can start soaking my feet because I've been there at this point for over 10 minutes. She says no because they're not ready for me yet. I ask her how long and she says another 5 to 10 minutes maybe 20. So essentially they wanted me to wait over half hour! Because they made a scheduling error. They didn't call and ask if I was on my way. I was a few minutes late for crying out loud. So terrible! Terrible. They could've told me right away when I walked in that it's gonna be 20 to 30 minutes and I would've just left because I don't have that time. But to make me take my shoes off, pick a color, waste 20 minutes of my time to then just tell me I have to wait another 20 is pathetic. when I called to talk to them about the situation and give them a chance to explain herself, she hung up the phone on me. They give a great pedicure, however, they don't value your time or appointments. For a year now, I have yet to be seen sooner than 45 minutes after my appointment time. No apologies. Ever. The gal next to me had an appointment & waited for an hour with no acknowledgement or apology. They have a bar. I've never been offered a drink or seen anyone consuming one. If you have 2.5 hours to spare for a 45 minute job, this is your place. Don't bother with the hot stones - they rub them up and down your shin bone for 5 minutes, IN a towel. I cannot say enough about this place. Not only is it beautiful inside and out, but the friendliness and professionalism from Snow and her staff stands out. I went a month ago (29 days) and my nails are still going strong. Though I am going in today for an overdue fill. I am a nail biter and I am quite rough on my nails. Lynn is the ONLY nail tech in north county I have found (and it feels like I have gone to ALL of them!) that can get nails to stay on my fingers for more than a week. She understands what my issues are and works with me. The interior design work is stunning and is definitely "unique" but so is the entire atmosphere. The techs all speak English while working to make their clients more comfortable. I know sometimes people prefer this so I thought I would add it. Also, they use new tools each time and that is reassuring. I know how tough it is to find a good nail place... I have been to all the happiness, perfect, creative and other salons in Oceanside and Vista- and none compare to Unique. read more

I've gone to this place maybe four times to try to grow my nails out. I've been doing the dip powder and I thought they looked OK at first, but they kept breaking off before the two week mark. So one broke off yesterday and out of spite I just took them all off. This is what I see. I am so disgusted. My thumb looks like that too. We came In and sat for about 15 minutes, as there was a Wait. Super bummed I normally go here all the time but I got a pedicure and it was terrible and for 53$ such a rip off. She cut my foot so bad on my big toe it was bleeding. I should have said something but I didn't want to be rude but after tipping her 20% and a Deluxe pedicure that was truly one of the worst I've ever gotten I will never be coming back. The color I picked was thick and not really usable so she poured in acetate to thin it out. The color is weird not at all like the bottle and the texture is off. Looks like it puddled in areas.
