Union Square is a tried and true classic, and my experience with them is always five stars!!! Most recently, I enjoyed their Valentine's Day assortment of DELICIOUS donuts. As always, they were fresh, delicious, and expertly frosted. Their employees are always kind and friendly, and offer a smiling face. I can't wait until my next donut from there! read more

I had high expectations because of the 4 star reviews. However they fell short in my humble opinion. Not bad, but not real good. The service was great. The overall flavor was flat. I tried the glaze, the whisky n maple bar. Not real sweet, just overall bland. The maple bar had zero maple flavor. I really wanted to love this place, it's a no for me. read more

Union Square Donuts arrives closer to home! They have a location in Somerville and one in the Boston Public Market and now they're in Brookline (yay!). Some of the best donuts I've ever had. Always fresh, never greasy/oily, light and fluffy. They have so many flavors, maybe like 10-15 in a day. The hazelnut one is my favorite - you can't go wrong. The Vietnamese coffee donut is tasty too. They also make donut holes. Usually there's one flavor per day. The last time around I had the raspberry chocolate donut holes, tart but sweet, a nice balance of flavors. They also have vegan donuts, sometimes even 3 flavors. They serve coffee too but can't talk about it since I've never had any. Getting there early is always a good bet. There's a chance they may run out. But I've swung by in the hour before they close and they always have at least a few flavors still, and it'll be delicious! Street parking is available. And in Brookline, generally you can park on the side streets (off of Harvard St) for 2 hours or so. read more

Mediocre at best. Sorry, but $10.18 for two donuts is overpriced. She picked the 2 smallest donuts of the varieties I ordered and put them in a bag. Had she picked the 2 best looking donuts on the tray then I absolutely would have tipped. The employees seemed a bit unpleasant. read more

Union Donuts were always good and delicious in the past. This time, I got a sea salt and whiskey glazed donut and it was not good. Dense dough, runny glaze and literally no flavor. I expect more for 4 bucks then a sour tasting puck of dough with some runny glaze. Tool 2 bites and had to throw the rest out. Disgusting. Last time I got that read more

I think that this place is really cute and has a variety of different flavors. However, I think these donuts aren't tasty because they're soaked in grease. When you bite into them they're not moist and delicious like donuts are supposed to be. I feel like I'm biting into grease soaked bread. If you're into those types of donuts, definitely try it out and see if this is the right donut shop for you, but if I'm being honest, just go to Blackbird Doughnuts read more

Hands down, the best donut place in Boston. The dough is unlike any other. What's the best flavor? Maple bacon of course. How much is it? This time, it doesn't matter. It's a must have. P.S If you really must know, they are $3.50-4.50...just get it. It's worth. read more

What needs to be said here that hasn't already been said? Union Square donuts has moved into the neighborhood and I couldn't be happier. As if Coolidge Corner/Harvard Street needed anything else to solidify its awesomeness, Union Square donuts has ensured it. I stopped by on a Saturday morning to grab a tasty treat for myself and my study buddies. The line was long but moved fast. The service is so efficient and friendly. I ordered a brown butter hazelnut crunch donut for myself and a box to share with my friends. In the box was one cinnamon sugar, one dark chocolate Belgian, one lemon, and one vanilla bean. The donuts were fresh and airy, perfectly coated and melt-in-your-mouth. The prices are fair, for the size and quality of donut. Side note- the murals inside on the wall are awesome ... currently using the stack of donuts as my wallpaper on my phone. NBD. So if you've never tried Union Square donuts (because Somerville is way too far to go), you have no excuse now. Welcome to the neighborhood, Union Square! read more

Rating for the donuts only. Diabesity at its finest! Come early or else you'll miss out on some of the donuts! I got the Sea Salted Bourbon Caramel, which was heavy on the salt and bourbon flavors - good if you like that! I wasn't so much a fan of the flavor itself (bad choice on my part knowing I should have tried something different), but I was quite impressed by the donut itself. Now I'm wishing I got something a little more simple to fully enjoy it. Come through and grab a donut or two to eat there or to go! They have really cool wall decor in this store, including a post it note wall for you to contribute what you thought about your visit. read more

Union Square Donuts might truly be my favorite donut place in the Boston area! They NEVER miss with their fun doughnut flavours. My friend and I got a bunch to split and really enjoyed all of them. I'm particularly obsessed with their pumpkin cheesecake donut, which is one of their seasonal ones! Their original glaze is also phenomenal! You truly can't go wrong with any flavour they have though! read more

Delicious donuts. Very unique flavors. Very fresh. Stars taken off because they have a tendency to hire the most customer-unfriendly staff. There is a wave of younger people who take jobs in customer service in this area who have zero concept of "serving" -- except for serving up lots of attitude. I'm tired of counter people with judgment on their faces the moment I walk up. Ditch it and give us donuts with a smile. read more

I came here this weekend around 10:30am to get donuts for breakfast. There was no line which was great. They were already out of their jelly donut. I ordered a chocolate frosted donut, my boyfriend ordered a boston creme and we both got coffees. Pretty pricey about $15. My boyfriend and I both love donuts and were so excited to come here! However, the dough was very heavy and we just didn't love them. We weren't even able to finish them. Not impressed. I would come back to try another donut. Coffee was just okay. read more

All I can say is YUM. My absolute favourites: - Maple Bacon - Brown Butter Hazelnut Crunch - Lemon Poppy Seed Cake - Carrot Cake Donut AND donut holes!! I've also tried the Belgian Chocolate, Vanilla Bean, Boston Cream and Salted Caramel and the Donut Day Donut of the Day: Fried Chicken Skin on Maple Glaze They're a bit on the expensive side so I go here whenever I have a "treat yourself" day. However they are pretty big- one alone can be a meal. read more

I love this donut shop! They have a good variety of donuts which aren't just your typical flavors either. They are definitely unique and run out fairly quickly. The donuts are definitely of better quality than typical places and also very big in size! I love the brown butter hazelnut crunch which has a good contrast in texture with the hazelnuts on top. It's soft and fluffy on the inside and does feel a little heavy but it really is delicious! read more

Hands down the best donuts in Boston. Union Square Donuts always comes up with such unique flavors and the texture is consistently perfect. Great selection of both regular and vegan options for donuts, as well as lattes. When I travel, I always try and make it to a local donut shop. I was so happy to find Union Square. Walking in, the first thing you see is their donut display and large menus. I wanted to get one of each because they all looked appealing, but I settled for just six. Ordered the Vietnamese coffee, boston creme, maple bacon, salted caramel brulee, hazelnut crunch, and lemon poppyseed. My friends and I unanimously agreed that the hazelnut crunch donut was the best! Texture and flavor all around, I am sad I didn't get more of it. Their lemon poppyseed donut was the only cake type donut and it was pretty good. The dough in their donuts have a great yeast balance making for a nice chewy and fluffy bite. Every donut was consistently fresh and tasty. 6 donuts came out to be almost $22 so not the cheapest, but I definitely recommend Union Square when in Boston and I will definitely be back! read more

Loving this donut shop! Went on a Sunday afternoon for a sweet treat and was pleasantly surprised with the quality and taste of this donut. I got the Belgian chocolate donut - I'm a sucker for anything chocolate. Wish I came earlier in the day though because some of the options were already gone! (Next time I'm going to try the vanilla bean donut - keeping it simple is my style). I also really liked how they serve coffee beverages as well. I didn't get one this time, but plenty of people in the shop had coffee. It's a small space, but with a few tables and chairs you can definitely enjoy your donut in the shop. I opted to take it on the go, and enjoy the lovely fall day in Coolidge Corner. See you soon, Union Square Donuts! read more

I tried the maple bacon, chocolate chip cookie dough, and apple cider cake donut. The bacon and cookie dough donuts were delicious. The flavor of the maple in the icing was quite subtle which complimented the flavorful bacon well. The chocolate chip cookie dough donut was my personal favorite. The cookie dough on the inside isn't traditional cookie dough, it's much lighter, similar to the texture of whipped cream. Unfortunately the apple cider cake donut didn't work for me. The cinnamon flavor was quite light and it was a very dry donut. I'd recommend coming here early because when I ordered right around 12, a lot of their donuts were already sold out then. read more

I had no idea this place opened up in Coolidge Corner, but I'm sure glad it did! My friend and I had some time to kill while waiting for our Kupel's order to be filled, so...we decided to spend the time ordering even more carbs #noshame. Union Square Donuts had a great, socially distant ordering window and, most importantly, a wide variety of donuts to choose from (including vegan options)! Our order was filled in just a few mins and we were able to pay and tip with a credit card. In terms of flavors, I really loved the Apple Cider and Maple Bacon donuts. Also, the donuts are definitely large so you can share (or don't - you do you, boo). I'll definitely be back to this location. read more

The vegan apple cider donut was AMAZING! Best apple cider donut I've had in the greater Boston area.

Fresh, soft and airy on the inside, with a delicate layer of crispy icing on the outside, wow! The sea salt whisky caramel donut was delightful. Pair it with coffee, and it's a satisfying breakfast, snack, or dessert. I'm usually not a donut person, but I would get this one again (soon)! read more

Loved my visit here. I enjoyed the Vietnamese coffee donut the best. I love how the donut itself was soft and not too oily. The donuts are nicely sized, and the glaze didn't flake off easily. I also tried the brown sugar hazelnut crunch one, and that did have an issue with the glaze and I thought the flavor was meh and it was a bit dry. In general, the atmosphere is really wonderful; the seating is comfortable and the space feels bigger than it is. I sat with a friend and had a comfortable, extended conversation and never felt rushed or cramped. The cold brew was great as well. I would love to come back and try more. read more

Donuts were a bit dry side , not what I expected, definitely won't go back . Not much of choices in donuts either , on to the next I guess.

Back again for another update! And we're back to 5 stars, thankfully. USD has greatly improved their issues. I think they got a new head pastry chef, and she is killing it. She has all kinds of rotating flavors coming out on the regular and even some new baked goods (brown butter cinnamon roll which is to die for). I'm particularly a fan of the pie themed donuts. The lemon one was amaaaaaazing. I'm also glad that there's now online ordering and delivery. I think they've done a great job during COVID and I hope it continues! read more

Stopped by on a Sunday morning for a quick bite to find a pleasant short line and available seating. We ordered a Boston creme (donut of the day) and the brown butter Hazelnut crunch donut. The Boston creme filling was not too sweet, and in combination with the dark chocolate created an ideal level of sweetness. The brown butter hazelnut crunch donut had a light sweetness and tasted great with the crunchy exterior. The black coffee was okay, could be a bit bolder in taste. Seating is very limited. Be ready to take your order to go. Parking is decent. Free WiFi. read more

Finally got the chance to try their donuts. Arrived 45 minutes before closing. There were still a good variety of choices to choose from. They were sold out of the Boston Creme Donut. Amazing donuts! I've had my fair share of donuts, and Union Square Donuts ranks near the top of the list. My sister and I got a Brown Butter Hazelnut Crunch Donut and a Vietnamese Coffee Donut. The Brown Butter Hazelnut Crunch Donut was one of the best donuts I've ever had. I highly recommend this flavor. The Vietnamese Coffee flavor could've been better, but the dough was still good. Both donuts were still hot and extremely fluffy. The dough of the donuts is what made the donuts here shine, but they were also a little too oily. The donuts are also reasonably priced for a specialty donut shop: the Brown Butter donut was premium so it was $3.5, while the Vietnamese Coffee flavor was $3. Really amazing place and super cute too! Definitely a must try in Boston! read more

I love a good local gourmet donut. Union Square was pretty good, but could have been more. I got the sea salt bourbon caramel donut, and my boyfriend got the maple bacon. The donut itself was delicious, perfectly puffed and airy, with good flavor. The glaze/icing on the maple bacon donut was delicious, our only edit would be perhaps more, smaller pieces of bacon rather than 4 large pieces. However, it was delicious. The sea salt bourbon caramel was delicious as well, although not quite as expected. After reading reviews, I expected the flavors to be extremely strong. The glaze was delicious, but not necessarily very caramel-y or bourbon-y. It was, however, very good. One review said it was way too much salt, but I honestly forgot there was supposed to be any salt until I was halfway through the donut, I would definitely have liked more salt. (even considered adding my own, but decided to eat it as is) Next time, I would try the brown butter hazelnut crunch donut which seems to be popular here on yelp - and you cant go wrong with brown butter. I also want to acknowledge a few reviews that said the donuts were pricy. They range from around $3-4.50 per donut, which honestly is pretty inexpensive for a gourmet local donut shop - definitely worth the price read more

I've been hearing about Union Square Donuts for a long time, and I finally got the chance to check them out for myself. This location is in the main shopping district of Brookline and easily accessible. I ordered the brown butter hazelnut crunch ($3.50), the Apple crisp ($3.50), and the fluffernutter ($3). All three doughnuts were yeast/raised. The brown butter hazelnut crunch seems to be one of the most popular items on the menu, and I can see why. The dough itself is very fluffy and soft, and the hazelnut chunks gives it a nice crunch. Its also worth noting that this doughnut is huge. The Apple crisp, which is one of the fall specials, was good but lacked real apple flavor and fell kind of flat. There were also chunks of crisp on top that were too hard to chew and tasted kind of stale. The fluffernutter, which was the doughnut of the day, was different than any other doughnut I've had. The inside was filled with a light peanut butter cream, and it was topped with a marshmallow fluff and peanut pieces. Having never had a fluffernutter sandwich before, I really enjoyed this one. I went at around 11 am, and the doughnuts were still warm. They don't have a credit card minimum here, which is great, and there's plenty of seating (indoors and outdoors). I'll definitely be back to try out some of their other flavors. read more

I'm always so excited when popular dessert joints have vegan options! They always have at least 3 options to get. The classic ones include an amazing chocolate one which I had last time. I don't like donuts. Like for real. Just not my thing, but I am a sugar addict. When I walked by & saw they had a seasonal vegan donut, I couldn't help myself. They had all kinds of different tasty looking options too. Although I am more of a cookie connoisseur, I decided to get the donut. It was pretty tasty but I am not sure of how it differs from other donuts out there except that it was vegan which was awesome. So I guess just give in & check it out. read more

An early Saturday morning had the family wanting donuts. We were all comfy in our pajamas and no one wanted to go out to get some, so our Yelp search had us finding this place.
