A solid spot for some fun renditions of classic breakfast dishes. Inside is a casual modern ambiance. We had one of the specials - a matcha tiramisu french toast. It was an interesting flavor, the matcha was certainly strong but I'm not sure it was my favorite combination with the sour ricotta (?) cheese. Still good, maybe just not my personal favorite. We also ordered the bulgogi eggs benedict, which was delicious. The bulgogi had a great flavor and paired well with the hollandaise. The side of potatoes was delicious i just wish there was more. Overall it is a bit on the pricey side for the portions but I still think a solid breakfast spot option. our server was also fantastic! Super sweet and attentive.
Tasty spot for breakfast, nothing too special. Some interesting menu items but unfortunately not outstanding preparation. We tried the Bulgogi Benedict and the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes, which were each tasty, though there was a hair in my pancake that was distinctly not mine. Inside is loud and crowded. The server was not too friendly and was also a severe mumbler so we really had no idea what she was saying. Probably wouldn't go back given the bounty of options in the area.
Pretty good brunch place with the classics as well as a few re-imagined items. Our table shared the bulgogi benedict, cajun hash, and the wine rosemary french toast. I was pleased with all of our choices and the portions were quite good. Their french toasts are probably their most pretty and interesting options - the wine rosemary one had brie in between the toast! I also got the pistachio match a latte which didn't have any detectable pistachio flavor at all, but was still good matcha. The food did come out a bit slow. Decor/ambience inside is nothing amazing.
Spacious seating area & nice service. The food does take a little longer than average to come out. But order a drink & bring a friend to stay entertained. Everything we had was good. We got hashbrowns, and they did not disappoint; very crispy. The bulgogi marinade was just good enough to be considered bulgogi. Better than the trader joes bulgogi marinade. The chorizo can be a little spicy if you can't handle a little heat.
Union is a classic brunch spot in Allston. They have a wide variety of savory and sweet brunch foods, and several delicious sandwich options. Today a friend and I walked in at 1:30pm and got seated immediately. We ordered the hash napoleon and the berries and ricotta French toast. The hash napoleon was pretty standard, the and hash was not too remarkable. The berries and ricotta French toast though, was DELICIOUS! I loved the whipped ricotta topping and the layer of berry ricotta cream in the middle. I would order that again. Service was okay, I know we did not dine during peak hours, but the waiter forgot to give us our check at the end of our meal. It seemed like other folks were getting their checks / water filled but the waiter didn't seem to get to where we were sitting. Otherwise a great experience
The atmosphere is underwhelming and not particularly welcoming. Several of the chairs are wobbly and felt like they would break if we leaned back. The staff was friendly and there weren't too many patrons in the restaurant on a Monday around lunchtime, but food service was pretty slow. The drinks were made quickly though and they were fine. It was odd that the cafe drinks were made without sweetener. Usually a London Fog has at least a little simple syrup in it. Not this one. The matcha was similarly unsweetened. Overall the bulgogi Benedict was the best thing on the table. The kimchi bulgogi quesadilla was mid. Needed more bulgogi and kimchi and less pico, especially since the pico was served on the side. The rosemary French toast was also very good. The sweet fruit and the Brie went well together, but it needed way more of the special syrup. I didn't care for it as much with regular (not pure maple) syrup. The meal was like $78 for 3 of us for three entrees and 3 beverages. Outrageously expensive for what we got. The food was good, but it wasn't $95 good.
I just had to write an updated review for @Union because I found myself visiting it again recently and I feel like the food has gotten so much better. Maybe it was the special menu item or that specific day, but I remember why I used to always visit @Union and enjoyed the food. That day we ordered fluffy pancakes and bulgogi benedict with freshly squeezed orange juice. The fluffy pancakes were indeed very fluffy, I love the mascarpone cream that came with it. The bulgogi benedict was delicious, it came with a good amount of meat, eggs were runny when cut into, flavors were all there. Both dishes were 10/10. The only bad part about this meal, or any time visiting @Union would be the very long wait for our food. We waited over 35 minutes for our food after placing the order with our server. We devoured the entire thing within minutes though.
Mask are required Cocktails are served at this location for breakfast. The chicken and waffles were so good, the chicken was well seasoned and could've been eaten alone. It was perfect with the waffle and syrup. The banana and cinnamon French toast was perfect also. It was crunchy around the edges and a combo of soft and a bit of crunch towards the middle. This was really good. The hast brown didn't taste like it had any seasoning and it was very crunchy, a bit too much for my liking and I should've asked for onions and peppers to be cooked with it. Otherwise, this place was really good, parking wasn't an issue, staff was great and drinks were good as well.
I was looking for a brunch spot that served alcohol with our meal. @union checked all the boxes and was an awesome surprise for everyone in my group. I started brunch with the Drunken Pumpkin Latte, which was a great way to kick off the meal. However, the highlight of the brunch was the Bulgogi Benedict. I know, I know, you are saying to yourself that I must have had one too many of those Drunken Pumpkin Lattes! Yep, you heard right - Bulgogi Benedict. This was an amazing dish with an English muffin and poached egg topped with Korean Beef Bulgogi and hollandaise sauce. All of the flavors worked! Pro tip - skip the breakfast potatoes. They were not worth the calories. I was worried that it would be crowded at 10 am, but the colleges were still on Christmas break, so we lucked out with a parking spot on the street right in front of the restaurant and immediate seating. I wish that a restaurant like @union can be found everywhere I travel!
Cute brunch spot. I've been here several times. The food is reasonably priced for Boston. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. There is hand sanitizer available at the front and all staff is wearing masks. They have a specials menu that changes throughout the year. I've always enjoyed trying the fun new items on the specials menu! The food sometimes takes a bit to come out but the staff is always very nice. The food is good with generous portion sizes as well.
This was a stellar brunch on a Friday morning. The Egg Bomb was an incredible amount of food for eleven dollars. We decided to eat it open faced to avoid a mess. The ability to opt for an everything bagel was a nice touch. The Wine Rosemary French Toast was light with a hint of sweetness. The best part was that the syrup wasn't overly sweet. @Union has a coffee shop vibe with a brunch style spread.

There's always so many people at Union, but I found out that the best time to go on a Saturday is before 11am! Guaranteed seating within 5 min. I've ordered the Lobster Benedict and the Smoked Salmon Omelette. They're both pretty filling meals and there's a good proportion of food on the plate. Although the things I've ordered seem very simple to make, it does take a long time for the food to come out. The last time my friend and I went, we waited for around 20 to 30 minutes. I wonder if it's the chef or the server. Besides that, I do enjoy my overall experience @UNION and would definitely come back to try the rest of the things they have on their menu! I know they have bottomless organic coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice that I would give a try next time. read more

Really sad that what started as a possible good idea went terribly wrong due to poor service. Food was ok, but try to avoid mini dictator server Bosska! No silverware, no stirs for our tea @ first and after asking her 2 - 3 times she threw them on the table! Very little honey in the tea & to top it off she advised me to "hurry up!' With my meal although other patrons she was serving were taking before us their time with their meal. No restaurant is worth this abuse find a better place even if u need to walk 20 miles! Came here on a whim during Wednesday morning with a friend while I was in the area. It wasn't busy at all and we were seated immediately. Vaccination card gets checked at the door. Street parking was easy to find, but I'm sure it gets more difficult as the day progresses. - Lobster Benedict ($19): definitely recommend trying this! There's a decent amount of lobster and the home fries were perfectly crunchy. - Nutella stuffed French toast ($15): had a bite of my friend's and if you like sweet breakfast, this is a winner. The fruit was very fresh and sweet! Although it wasn't busy, the service was super slow. Our waiter pretty much disappeared after dropping off our food and we needed small things like ketchup, refills on the water, and napkins. I would love to come back and check out their other menu options! read more

Call ahead to get on the wait list! We didn't and there was a 15 to 20 min wait. Not terrible. Parking sucks. But the meters are free on Sundays. We had a bucket of mimosas with ( fresh aqueezed) OJ and cranberry juice. I ordered lobster benedict and my brother had blueberry pancakes, which he enjoyed. The poached egg on the benedict was a little over cooked. There a good amount of lobster. And spinach. I do wish the lobster was warmed a bit. I had a few cold bites. Service was ok. It was a pretty busy brunch. Our server took or orders, I think she was the one who brought our food, but she didn't stop back by until it was time to bring the check. It was rainy but it looks like they do have outdoor seating for nicer days. There are a few other items I'd like to try so I'd come back for brunch. 3.5 stars. read more
We were seated right away but service was really slow for a Thursday morning without many guests! Our total meal time there was well over an hour and a half due to the wait to have our order taken by our server and the wait for the food to come out. If you are coming at a busy time, such as on a weekend, I would recommend calling ahead to put your name on a waiting list. However, the food was really delicious and I loved the cozy atmosphere! It was the perfect mix between a diner feel but more upscale interior. I had the bulgogi breakfast burrito which I thought was a unique offering. It came out piping hot and was delicious. Overall, I'll definitely be back to try more items from their extensive menu and enjoy the atmosphere but keep in mind the slow service! read more

my friend and i got the fluffy pancakes and florentine eggs benedict. both were pretty good! i also got an iced latte and was able to choose from several flavors and milk options. we went on a rainy saturday morning and were seated quickly, but it did get pretty busy. the staff did seem a little disorganized and we had multiple different people waiting on us, but everyone was very friendly. not an amazing brunch spot, but i would come back! read more

The atmosphere and service were nice here. Food was pretty good too, I ordered the sausage gravy benedict with spinach and avocado. It came with home fries that were okay. The gravy on my benedict was a bit cold, but still pretty tasty. My dad got the chicken and waffles, he said the chicken. was not very seasoned but still fried well. I'd love to come back to try their french toast. read more

Union is such a nice place to have breakfast/brunch in Allston! Came there with some friends and we all had a really positive experience. The service was very attentive and friendly. I got the french toast that you can "build". So I got mine with strawberries, bananas, and blueberries and it was pretty tasty. I also got the Rose London Fog and it was fantastic, with the nice subtle hint of rose. I recommend Union for all your breakfast/brunch needs in Allston! read more

Food here was super delicious! Came in on a Saturday morning around 12:30 for brunch and the restaurant was full. We waited about 10 minutes for a table for a party of three which wasn't bad at all. Ambiance was nothing extraordinary- just a basic brunch restaurant. Majority of the guests seemed to be younger college students which makes sense considering the area. We each started with a coffee (dirty chai latte, tiramisu latte, and a mocha latte) but none of them were that great. Honestly all 3 flavors tasted the same. For food we got the steak and eggs, crunchy French toast, hash, and chorizo eggs Benedict. All of it was really delicious and the price point was nothing crazy at all. Would definitely come back here again. read more

During COVID-19, Union has been taking extra precautions to maintain social distancing while delivering great quality food and services. For the price, my friends and I got great portions on food, but I do find the home fries to be a bit lackluster for the price. Honestly I'm very picky with my home fries at brunch spots, and Union's are a bit too soft for my liking. The bagel sandwich I ordered on the other hand was delicious and well worth the money I paid for it. My friends got the prosciutto Benedict and they all enjoyed it, so I would personally opt for that next time and see how things are! read more

The vibe, service and food were perfect. I went with three others and they all ordered something different and it was amazing. I had the bulgogi Benedict and they had the Cajun hash and gravy Benedict. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because they were out of all the best drinks. No more boba mimosas, peach champagne or cotton candy cocktail. read more

Reasonably priced brunch spot. Reservations are needed for a patio spot but we walked in a dined inside. Felt like a comfy cafe inside the restaurant itself. I ordered the chipotle Benedict ($14) which was pretty good and had chorizo and spinach inside of it and a good amount of fries on the side. The portion sizes were good and left everyone satisfied with their meal. Good value brunch spot and I will def go back again read more

Chicken & Waffle -$14.95 This is a pretty nice brunch place if you're looking for some good food and fresh mimosas! They offer a mimosa bucket with a variety of juices such as orange, lemonade and cranberry juice. They also have a boba mimosa that was pretty fun! (Not the chewy boba, but the one that bursts in your mouth.) I would definitely recommend the chicken & waffles. I promise you won't be disappointed! It was deep fried chicken on a waffle with drizzled chili BBQ sauce & butter. You can also add maple syrup but it was perfect with just the bbq sauce. I'd definitely come back again! I want to try the lobster Benedict but I honestly might just order the chicken & waffles again because it was that good! read more

I went here for the 1st time because the pictures looked decent and the menu was pretty on point. The wait was long because it's a busy place. I got the Apple Cider pancake special. The apples were not fresh they were from a can. The syrup was supposed to have apple cider in it and syrup is supposed to be thickened not watery. They served the cider syrup with a lil' metal ketchup container. I had to ask for another as pancakes were dry. I want even given regular syrup. The pancakes were rubbery to cut into. I should be able to cut them with a fork. There were no spoons just fork and knife rolled in napkin. So if you wanted coffee they are supposed to give you either a stirrer or a spoon. I had to ask for one. The creamer came in another lil' but ceramic ketchup holder. Can I get a lil' jar with a pour spout? It was sometimes hard to flag down waitress because she was always busy. My friends salad dressing was sour and bitter. I never was asked for a refill on my coffee. Maybe go with an omelette because I don't know how you go wrong with pancakes read more
I had such a wonderful time here at Union! This will definitely be my go-to place for brunch in the Allston area. We arrived at around 1 PM on a Saturday and though it was packed, we were seated pretty quickly. I ordered an iced chai latte, the Cajun Hash, and a side of homefries. The iced chai latte could've been better (the flavors weren't pronounced enough), but it was refreshing on a warm day. The Cajun Hash was a delicious, filling meal! If you love potatoes, this is your dish. It consisted of a crispy hash pancake with onions and Cajun spices!! It also came with your choices of buttered toast and eggs. The hash had the perfect consistency- crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Everything about it was absolutely brimming with flavor!!! The homefries, which also came with onions, tasted pretty similar to the hash. I loved how soft and slightly burnt some pieces were. Overall, I'd recommend Union to anyone looking for a delicious brunch experience. :- ) read more

Great service, good food. Place could use a remodeling as the aesthetic was dark and quiet when I first walked in. But other than that, would definitely come back with friends for a quick breakfast/ brunch. Lox bagel and omelette was great. read more
For how often I walk by Union and see a packed house through their window, I found their brunch to be pretty average. I got a prosciutto benedict which lacked any oomph. Instead of 'yum!' my tastebuds were like 'eh.' Their hash is better than their bennys though. Their service is really friendly though. For instance, Union serves alcoholic beverages but none mixed into their coffee drinks but we asked if they could essentially and Irish coffee since they had the means and they gladly did so for a few extra bucks. read more

The food is good here @Union on Harvard Ave., but we spent nearly an hour just waiting for our brunch - 15 min for a table (just our experience on this one afternoon visit, and that part wasn't bad at all) and then nearly 40 min for the food to begin showing up at our table (I had begun wondering if perhaps our order had been misplaced, but had yet to ask). Though tempted by a few items from their seasonal special menu, we were out of luck as they've begun transitioning seasons, and had no more pumpkin in the kitchen. Instead, we ordered the Hash Napoleon $11.95 (Crispy hash browns with homemade corned beef hash and two eggs sunny side up served with toast with butter), the Ricelette $8.25 (Sauteed steak with sauteed onion, green peppers, white rice, finished with cheddar cheese) from the omelette menu (served with homefries and your choice of white, wheat, rye, sourdough or an English muffin), and their Crunchy French Toast $6.99 (served with sliced bananas and finished with powdered sugar & cinnamon). I preferred the English muffin though the sourdough was sufficient, but had not noticed the option to upgrade to a bagel or a croissant for 99 cents. We were, however, glad to realized that we had ordered dishes that came with both potato variations as a default - homefries and hash brown. In my opinion, however, the crispy hash brown beats out the large chunks of skillet fried potatoes hands down, and it would be worth the $1.95 substitution charge to upgrade. The corned beef hash was the mushy type with small diced potatoes, but it was still tasty. The texture due to the addition of the rice to the omelette was a surprise hit. And the crispy french toast was terrifically crispy with its sweet cereal flake coating and made for a great stand in for dessert. We enjoyed our meal, but too bad the kitchen seemed to have trouble handling their rather good sized dining room. The restaurant itself is happily handicap accessible, but I seemed to sense cigarette smoke wafting through at times, perhaps from the back door by the bathroom? read more

It was later afternoon, service is really amazing! We ordered avocado toast and white omelet which was fine as we expected more taste but the ambience is really good and pan cakes were yum too! If you are hanging around then this one is the best place to eat!!! read more

Decent breakfast place on a Sunday . Came here around 8AM so it's slow and plenty of available tables. Staffs was pleasant and welcoming. Ordered the healthy omelette and which comes out with toast and potatoes . It's pretty fulfilling and delightful. Good decent breakfast and services here. read more

TLDR; decent brunch place in busy Allston. Generally have to wait so plan in advance. I've been here a few times out of convenience of location at this point. I usually get some form of a Benedict and a coffee of some sort. The waitresses really vary. Some are quite good at tending to your table while it may be forever before one returns or getting someone's attention even if they just tender to the table right next to you. I wanted a refill on water once and took over 10 minutes to get the attention of someone. They also seem to be low on glassware and someone in my party had to wait for their coffee because of that. The food is decent here. They usually have specials and I enjoy trying new dishes so I got this chorizo Benedict once. The meat did not particularly taste like chorizo but was edible. I picked this for the spice, but it was pretty neutral in that sense but the hollandaise was tasty. To their credit, the eggs are usually well done where the eggs do run. read more
