They've been maintaining my old system for 10 years, so I have a lot of confidence in them. Before the installation I had many detailed discussions with Phil, the owner, about the specs for the job and what specific equipment to install (there are lots of choices in this kind of system). Phil always listened to my concerns and explained everything very well; he is low-key and did not pressure me to buy anything in particular. One of the difficulties of the installation was that we did not have any specs for the old system and had to guess as what the capacity of the ground loop is. Installation was done on schedule, over a period of five days, by Aaron, Frank, and Zach, and they did very careful and neat work. The resulting collection of pipes and boxes is beautiful (if you like this kind of thing, and I do). I especially appreciate that they cleaned everything thoroughly when they finished. The new system is working much better than the old one, especially for cooling and for air flow.

With that in mind, the team at Sensible exceeded my expectations. I selected a mid-range, 2 stage heat, 2 stage AC, Bryant system; comparing other top-rated brands and their associated, local installers. The Sales Pro did more to earn my trust than the competition, and a Carrier brand looked/sounded good after weeks of product analysis on the web, talking to neighbors and friends...mulling it over. When installation day came, two professionals with extensive industry knowledge, decades of experience, standout courtesy and unusual attention to detail, installed/retrofitted the new Bryant system in our 23 year old home. The Ops Manager came himself to ensure a timely delivery during a hot summer -- hot for Denver at least. They ensured my very clean home stayed very clean and left the HVAC closet and plumbing in top shape. I am picky, fastidious, politely called "detail-oriented". Turns out these guys are equally picky. I researched for days before selecting the Bryant brand and Sensible. I feel fortunate. I hit the jackpot for HVAC professionals.

I got the recommendation for Controlling Systems through ChatGPT and they didn't disappoint. The sales process best of the bunch. Chris, our sales rep. took the time to do a manual J measurement throughout the house to ensure we were getting the right system for the house, which none of the other contractors even considered. After showing me all the options, we went with their RUUD top of the line system which came with a multi stage furnance, variable stage AC, and a heat pump. They applied the rebates offered by Xcel, so we didn't have to wait for the rebates, we just signed over the rebates to them during the sales process. The installers were top notch, kind, and ensured they took good care of our home. I couldnt be happier and highly recommend them. From a price point, they came out thousands less than the closest competitor, and I'd note the closest competitor wasn't willing to do a transfer of the rebates. We would have had to claim those after the sale.

We have had problems with our furnace dating back more than a year. It has been limping along even…read morethough we had spent quite a bit of money last year to get it fixed by another HVAC company which shall remain nameless because I have NOTHING good to say about them. On the Friday before Christmas our furnace finally gave up the ghost and we had to call someone out before it got too much later since it was already 4PM on a Friday afternoon. From seeing their ads on TV, we decided to call Unique. I called and talked with Adam and he was very courteous and polite and said he would see what he could do and would call back right away. When he called back, they had a tech in Westminster finishing up soon and he would be right over. In just about an hour, Adrian showed up and went right to work trying to figure out the problem with the furnace. After awhile he came up to tell us the news, which wasn't good, but we already were prepared for that. He went over the options that we had, what it would take to get the old furnace possibly running again, but with no guarantee that it would be fixed without need additional work because of what the previous HVAC company did. At that point we decided that instead of throwing good money after bad, we would bite the bullet and just get a new furnace. So, while he was writing up the order we asked when they would be able to get someone to come out. We were expecting that it would be a few days and that we would have to deal with a freezing cold house, but to our (pleasant) surprise he said that they would be back out first thing in the morning after they pick up the new unit. Awesome, just one night to have to deal with a cold house and space heaters. Just before 10 AM the next morning the guys showed up with our new furnace. Both of them were super nice and very professional (I really wish I had gotten their names to mention them personally in this review as they were awesome). They got right to work and in less than 2 hours we had a brand new furnace up and running and the old one already hauled out of the basement. Finally a reliable source of heat after fighting with the old furnace. I can't say enough good things about all the guys at Unique, from the initial contact, to the tech, to the crew that did the install. They were fantastic and this is the very first time we have had an HVAC company come to our home and we didn't feel like we were ripped off. I would highly recommend them to anyone having issues with their furnace or their a/c unit. Thank you so much and we know we will call Unique if we have any HVAC needs at all.

Thanksgiving week my 20-year-old Bryant furnace failed (rusted heat exchangers) so I got four bids…read morefrom two kinds of contractors: two high overhead corporate HVAC companies with fancy brightly-colored vans and starched-shirt techs, and two small business HVAC'ers with low overhead, decaled pickup trucks, and jeans. While I was prepared to pay much higher replacement costs across the board than pre-Covid prices , the bid range was shocking, as much as $15K difference between high and low. Duffey's was one of the low bidders, and I am so glad I went with them. The higher bidders tried to upsell me to replace my AC at the same time, get a higher btu furnace, etc., but not Shawn Duffey. Instead, he explained why my current size was fine, and respected the fact that heat was the priority. But what impressed me was how he explained parts availability for the brand he would install (Amana) and certain models whose parts replacement costs were as much as 50% lower (pricey variable vs torque-drive motors). He and his helper Mike came over and had the old one out and the new one installed, including wider venting pipes and other upgrades, cleanly and efficiently in about 4.5 hours. He also had the new furnace delivered by the distributor, who hauled the old one away for recycling--again, saving costs. But what really impressed me was he refused payment until Jeffco signed off on the inspection the next week. So Shawn and Mike literally installed the same Amana, with upgraded venting, for $13K less than the top corporate bidder, and I couldn't be happier. So lessons learned: 1) get at least four bids from different kind of companies, 2) if there is any upsell, avoid, and 3) make Shawn Duffey one of your bids. I highly recommend going with him; you will not be disappointed. His service area is also limited to SW Denver Metro, and that's a good thing. Local, knowledgeable, reasonable, and personable.

When I called to inquire about AC installation, an appointment was set up and the owner of the company came to my house to do the inspection himself. Very friendly, helpful, and able to answer all my questions. An appointment was set up a few weeks later for the actually installation of the unit. The workers arrived on time and worked all day (8-5) to install the AC. They had to move some of the duct work in my furnace around to accommodate the coil and do some electrical work as well. When they were finished, I was walked through all the work they had done and able to inspect it myself. A few days later, Builders set up an appointment for city permitters to come to my house and inspect the work. Both mechanical and electrical inspectors came and found that all work was properly installed to code. The AC unit looks and works great and the process could not have gone more smoothly. I was extremely impressed by Builders and would be pleased to work with them in the future.

Wait times to connect w someone on the phone are longer. Today was supposed to be furnace service and maintenance. I've been waiting 3 weeks for this appointment. Bailing on an appointment isn't okay. Agent 'understood my frustrations' so she'd be happy to put me on the list for a call in 3-4 weeks and during that call they could schedule another appointment. We had a 3 year old furnace, and they recommended we match the furnace equipment. (They also conveniently worked with and stocked that same brand). The estimator left and we had a full quote and contract emailed to us quickly. The quote was very fairly priced. It was exactly what I imagined a new AC unit would cost with installation. I was able to price out the equipment myself, and it wasn't unreasonable given the labor involved. I did get several quotes from other HVAC companies and all the other quotes were several thousand dollars more, and did not quote the same brand. Tobin gave us everything we wanted. We scheduled the work a few weeks later and again Tobin's people arrived promptly during the specified time frame. They got to work removing the old equipment and installed the new units, lines, electrical and got everything charged up and tested. The whole process took less than 5 hours. They gave me some tips, answered any questions I had and generally did a good clean job. I would highly recommend Tobin. The other big name guys charged a big name price.
