Always have and always will love uni. Sad that it is scheduled to be replaced but I will continue to enjoy it while it is still there. I usually visit for their great sushi offerings but we ordered something different for lunch the last time and as always it was delicious. The chargrilled taste of the skewers and the variety tempura were both great options to have. The staff is always fantastic. Update: After my original review, I was told that the General Manager, Tessa, would be contacting us regarding the incident where Angel verbally attacked both me and my wife. As of now, we still have not received any communication or follow-up from her or anyone else in management. The lack of response has been disappointing and has only reinforced our concerns about how this situation was handled. The servers are very knowledgeable and willing to help suggesting sushi rolls or other dishes depending on what you're in the mood for. The chicken karaage plating could definitely be improved - the way it's served in the square tall bowl...having them piled on top of eachother like that tightly made them lose their crispness quick as well as a hassle to look for the few that were left near the end especially being in such a dim restaurant. I found myself using the candle on the table several times to see the dishes. The ribeye beef rolls were okay, not my favorite. The rolls were pretty good. This will ALWAYS be a very special spot for me. 13 years ago around 9:00pm I was 9 months pregnant, sitting outside with my mom and best friend! We were having the very best time, eating sushi and their delicious lobster and shrimp appetizer (10/10) and my water broke!!! It was so exciting!! I tell the story everytime we eat there! This is a good spot for date night sushi! I have been to this restaurant twice and feel confident in identifying a few things that keep Uni Sushi from being a 4 or 5 star place. However, my experience was overall good. We were super disappointed by the egg roll appetizer. It was literally two small egg rolls cut in half and placed face down to look like four... I have never seen anything like that before and I would not order that appetizer again. The sushi was good and the drinks were great! The most notable thing that keeps Uni Sushi from being 4 or 5 stars is the service. We spent over two and a half hours at the restaurant. We were enjoying a date night, so we didn't mind the slow service, but we found ourselves trying to find our waiter time and time again, which made it difficult when ready to pay or get more drinks. The service was also very slow the first time I went as well. My friend and I spent about 2 hours there. Yummy Sea bass! Glad I have a "go to" Miso sea bass now. Portions large! If you've never has a miso sea bass, it's sweet. However this was great and if you want to cut the sweetness, they nicely placed a lemon to give some acid to balance the sweetness. Half way through I usually use a lemon when eating miso sea bass. Nice waiter, not anything wrong. The steamed vegetables are nice and they have a nice selection of hot teas to pic from. I will absolutely be back. The price wasn't over the top for a specialty dish such as this! The rice was, just there but it is s traditional to have sticky rice. When Uni first opened in Market Street it was a hot place to go and I frequently regularly. The sushi was just as good as I remembered it 10 years later. I recommend the millenium and watch your butt (that cracks me up since there's jalapeños on top!). We were seated promptly but our server didn't greet us for almost 10 minutes. This is similar to Oishii in terms of quality. Completely standard rolls, nigiri, and sides. The difference is- Oishii charges 1.25 per salmon nigiri, and it's 3.75 here with a smaller cut. The amberjack and yellowtail tasted exactly the same to the point where I wondered if they were even different fish lol. Chicken karaage is on the level of drive thru tapioca shops with some bottled Thai chili sauce tossed in. Rolls taste like literally anywhere could've made them. The old fashioned came with a muddled orange slice and a maraschino cherry. It's that kind of place. I guess my point is this place isn't bad. It's just not good either. This place is by far one of my favorites. I love the surrounding area as well. But the restaurant has a full bar, as well as booths and tables. The lighting is very nice too, although a little dark some times. The service is always quick and the servers are kind. The food is by far the best sushi I've ever had.
