Firecracker Chicken
Debbie H.

Excellent Service, Firecracker Chicken was delicious excellent sauce with a spicy kick to it! The chicken was flavorful and tender Served with tempura veggies and white rice! The handcrafted cocktails are very well made thanks to Nate's Talents! Very nice wine selection! This is a wonderful place to sit at the bar and enjoy a great time!

Ikura with quail egg

Very nice and efficient staff. I stuck with sashimi and some ikura with quail egg for dessert. All was exceptional. Had the toro and hamachi. Both fresh and delicious. Also had tempura vegetables - not pictured - but fantastic as well.

Great food! Improvements could be made with ambiance. My husband and I enjoyed 2 different rolls and look forward to dining again.

Chicken karaage

Service was great, our server was very nice. Food was pretty good, some things could be better. The chicken karaage plating could definitely be improved - the way it's served in the square tall bowl...having them piled on top of eachother like that tightly made them lose their crispness quick as well as a hassle to look for the few that were left near the end especially being in such a dim restaurant. I found myself using the candle on the table several times to see the dishes. The ribeye beef rolls were okay, not my favorite. The rolls were pretty good. We had the Caterpillar Roll, Rainbow Roll, Alfredo Roll, Brendy Roll & Yuka Roll. The caterpillar roll had way too little unagi in it though. Overall the food was about 3.5ish

Spider Handroll + Scallop Handroll

Food: 6.9/10 The handrolls are not as efficient as a handroll you'd find elsewhere. It's a cone, so you'll drop a bit (unless you're very careful!); however, I'd highly advise against them here. The bao buns were pretty good! Great appetizer The other specialty rollls were ok - the angry dragon felt a little weak. H bomb was "aight" Service: 5/10 Upon first visit, it took the staff a bit to decide who was going to come up and seat us. It took a while for the server to remember us too... not the best while on a date - particularly when your date starts mentioning the slow service Ambiance: 6/10 Nothing too special. Seats are somewhat tight - it's a small place. Intimate, but not?

Nothing wrong with this place. Good sushi, friendly staff, and a very clean restaurant.

Inside booths and sake!

Birthday dinner with family was great. Great location in market street. Great bday dinner. A bit pricey (hence 4 stars) but amazing food.

It's WILD to me that Uni only has 3.5 stars. Hands down favorite sushi restaurant in the area! We ordered the baked avocado, spicy edamame, shaggy dog, hot stone, lobster Mac & Cheese, baby snapper, AND the ribeye rolls. Practically everything on the menu... ha! 5/5 every. Time!

VANILLA BEAN CRÈME BRÛLÉE - they ran out of strawberries, still great!

Good food and amazing flavored sake. I didn't even know that was a thing. Good lunch specials as well. A friend order the stuffed avocado. I figured another gimic presentation. First bite was OK, but I added a little soy and the accompianments I was in love. Bento box options was good with the chicken teriyaki, was surprised I liked the miso dressing over the ginger. Really good fresh rolls too. Looked like only two servers on the floor. Ours was super sweet, but even with my friend that works in the industry we felt it was a little lacking. There is something about sushi places that have carpet that retain a very faint smell. This place had it, but after a moment it was not noticeable and the food was fresh.

Hamachi
Dawn F.

Delicious food, Great drinks What more can you ask for? THEIR HAMACHI (Not the Hamachi Jalapeño which is delicious too BTW). I don't live in TX but I'm here visiting my son and he took me there for drinks and I I've been in TX for 2 weeks and I've been there 6 times Lol! I've met some great people just sitting at the bar. The atmosphere is laid back and the staff are knowledgeable and so friendly. I'm a pescatarian and finding great food that isn't shrimp & salmon is hard so I was so excited to try their Hamachi OMG! It is PHENOMENAL and that with a lychee martini is the reason I have been there 2 times in the same week & I will definitely be back before I leave. (The Hamachi is not on the menu you just have to ask for it). That with their Mac & Cheese... YUMMMM!

Roll

Was good. Had solid service by a friendly and efficient waiter. The rolls were tasty and fresh. Presentation very good. I would go back. I read the negative reviews and they centered on the service experience which seems very negative at times. We can only say positive. Restroom was clean but dark. Not sure what I was expecting there but could improve.

The egg rolls aren't even full. They are cut in hall and put face down.

This is a good spot for date night sushi! I have been to this restaurant twice and feel confident in identifying a few things that keep Uni Sushi from being a 4 or 5 star place. However, my experience was overall good. We were super disappointed by the egg roll appetizer. It was literally two small egg rolls cut in half and placed face down to look like four... I have never seen anything like that before and I would not order that appetizer again. The sushi was good and the drinks were great! The most notable thing that keeps Uni Sushi from being 4 or 5 stars is the service. We spent over two and a half hours at the restaurant. We were enjoying a date night, so we didn't mind the slow service, but we found ourselves trying to find our waiter time and time again, which made it difficult when ready to pay or get more drinks. The service was also very slow the first time I went as well. My friend and I spent about 2 hours there. Overall, a fine place to stop, but quite pricey and make sure you are not in a rush to get anywhere after!

Chilean Sea Bass
Kristina W.

Yummy Sea bass! Glad I have a "go to" Miso sea bass now. Portions large! If you've never has a miso sea bass, it's sweet. However this was great and if you want to cut the sweetness, they nicely placed a lemon to give some acid to balance the sweetness. Half way through I usually use a lemon when eating miso sea bass. Nice waiter, not anything wrong. The steamed vegetables are nice and they have a nice selection of hot teas to pic from. I will absolutely be back. The price wasn't over the top for a specialty dish such as this! The rice was, just there but it is s traditional to have sticky rice. I will give it a 5 when I try more items but the sea bass was stellar.

There's a separate menu page dedicated to their new broth selections including Tom Yum, Golden Chicken, Spicy Miso and so much more. They've also introduced new hot items such as Soup Dumplings, Hargau, Siu Mai, and Tempura. These small bites were perfect palate changer between rounds of hot pot. The cuts of meat for hot pot were incredibly tender and the wagyu offered was beautifully marbled. Although each slice was generously cut, they were easy to split and share with the table. One of the highlights was the self-served shaved ice machine, a refreshing and sweet treat to perfectly end the meal. Prime Beef Shabu is currently one of my favorite places to get Hot Pot. The restaurant is clean , efficient, and ideal for enjoying a family styled dinner with loved ones.

We checked in and were told the wait without a reservation for 4 would be 20 minutes but they actually seated us in about 5. Seating capacity is 98. They took our order quickly and the meats came out fast. Just in case, there are items that cost extra like the wagyu. I had the house spicy broth. I thought it was pretty good and not too spicy for me but the wife was choking with the spiciness. We normally get 3 rounds of meat at kpot but we only went through 1 round here because the serving portions are larger. I was asked about or inquire about the "member price" shown on the menu. The wait staff came by frequently to clear plates and trash.

I had very high expectations for this restaurant after seeing all of the positive reviews online…read moreand learning that it had been recognized by the James Beard Foundation. I genuinely wanted to give this place five stars, but unfortunately our experience was disappointing overall. When we first arrived, there was nobody at the front to greet or seat us, and we waited several minutes before anyone acknowledged us. Service started off decent enough, but once our food arrived, it felt like we were completely forgotten. Nobody checked on our table afterward, we never received water refills, and our server was essentially unavailable for the rest of the meal. We were also seated next to an extremely loud party that was yelling throughout dinner. We wanted to request another table because it was disrupting the experience, but our server never returned to our section, so we never had the opportunity to ask. For a restaurant that presents itself as high caliber, I was surprised that management allowed such a disruptive atmosphere to continue. As for the food, the BBQ Pork Buns and Siu Mai were both very good. The award-winning Beef Rendang was easily the highlight of the meal and the best dish we ordered. Unfortunately, the Mee Goreng and Malaysian Fried Rice were major disappointments. Both dishes had an unpleasant smell and lacked flavor or seasoning, making them very unappetizing. Another issue was finding a bug on our table during dinner. I understand things can happen, but combined with everything else, it added to an already frustrating experience. We even wanted additional napkins, but again, our server never came back to check on us. Eventually, we became so frustrated waiting for service that we got up and paid the bill ourselves. Ironically, that was the moment our server finally reappeared. To make matters worse, gratuity appeared to already be added to the bill, which honestly did not feel deserved given the level of service we received. Overall, the BBQ Pork Buns and Beef Rendang were the only parts of the experience that saved the meal for us. It's disappointing because the restaurant itself is beautifully designed and has a great ambiance, which made us even more excited to try it. Unfortunately, the poor service and inconsistent food quality overshadowed what could have been a much better dining experience.

I have been craving two choice delicacies lately, and both are present, albeit in single precious bites, on this menu: bluefin otoro and A5 Wagyu. I ordered a piece of Otoro nigiri, a set of 3 hand rolls, and an A5 gunkan. My server suggested ending my meal with the Wagyu, and it was an excellent and much appreciated tip. First, to start with the otoro was a luxurious beginning to my meal. How I've missed this distinctive treat! Following the nigir was a succession of three delicious and wonderfully savory hand rolls. And the pièce de résistance, the grand finale bite of A5 did not disappoint. It was rich, fatty, and incredibly flavorful. The hot tea paired nicely with, and I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch in this smallish but stylishly simple dining room, which thankfully still felt spacious due to its soaring ceiling. Service was stellar, as well. Pricey? $58 before tip for lunch felt like a splurge. But it was absolutely worth it. And I see a few return splurges in my future.
