Staying at the Tahoe Seasons, this is the business that provides their "room service". My sister…read moreand I were craving fresh veggies to augment the leftovers designated for dinner. I explained that we wanted to split a salad; we ordered the Cobb salad with separate dressings for each of us on the side. The order arrived very promptly, was exactly what we expected, with ample portions. It was reasonably priced, fresh and very tasty !!

I looked at the room service menu as my stomach grumbled and decided I needed to I order some room service. The prices were palatable but the menu looked a bit sparse. I decided to give them a call. OMG they were so accommodating and pleasant. They gave me a whole slew of options for things that weren't on the menu that I almost got overwhelmed by the choices. Definitely in a good way though-- there are so many GREAT CHOICES that aren't on the menu! It seemed like they could make you whatever you wanted. The food arrived about 45 minutes later and it was piping hot. There was SO MUCH of it and everything was SO GOOD. One in our party had ordered chicken parm. It was secured in round aluminum to-go container that was filled to the brim with spaghetti, sauce, chicken parm, loads of melted cheese, and 4 pieces of toasted garlic ciabatta. Another in our party ordered the chicken wings to snack on before dinner and they loved it. The kids mac and cheese ($7) tasted and looked like it was made from scratch-- rigatoni smothered in a delicious cheese blend. It was so nourishing and delicious after a long day on the slopes-- definitely, enough for a tween and for her parents to steal some bites. The prices are reasonable and are such a welcome relief that I would consider staying in and having dinner next time we stay at Tahoe Seasons. No guilt (and delicious) room service -- who would have thought?

The perfect spot when family comes to town!…read more The Pink House is my go-to place whenever I have family visiting--and it never disappoints! Located in historic Genoa (Nevada's very first settlement), this beautifully restored 1855 Gothic Revival landmark has that wonderful old-time feel that makes the experience special from the moment you walk in. The food is fantastic, with a delicious Southern twist that reminds me of New Orleans--big, bold flavors that make every bite memorable. We also loved the wood-fired pizzas, which are a must-try. And the craft cocktails? Absolutely yummy. To top it all off, they feature live acoustic music that adds such a fun, lively vibe to the whole experience. The service was great, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. Perfect for a family visit or a night out with friends. Can't wait to come back! Highly recommend.

I think it's safe to say they use frozen corn which is a shame because fresh corn is still very much in season. I had their corn as an accompaniment to one of my past dishes and the texture is the same. Completely over cooked, soggy, mushy corn on the cob with absolutely no flavor. And get this, it costs $18 or $19! It's literally one corn on the cob that they portion into 4 or 6 pieces. Fish Special - It was rock fish with a red pepper sauce, eggplant stacked with feta and herbed roasted potatoes. The fish was over cooked and really salty. Eggplant was dry and difficult to eat. I didn't even bother with it. Potatoes, no big deal. Margherita Pizza - Good flavor, just not a fan of their crust Tchoupitoulas- We've gotten this in the past and this seems to be consistent with flavor and execution. My husband said it was as good as the first time. Kid's Mac n Cheese - At $19 I expected a large portion. It's not. But it was the best dish we ordered. It's more of a macaroni with Alfredo sauce rather than a cheddar mac n cheese. My son enjoyed it as did everyone else at the table.

The service was great as all the staff is personable and kind. The ambiance is warm and fitting especially during the winter months. The food was just what we needed on a snowy day, and the ambiance was the cherry on top. My husband and I were only here for a 3 days, and 2 of the days we spent having dinner here. We look forward to returning on our next trip and hope to share our experience with friends and family in the near future.

Think, maybe, Julia Child cooking at the boss' house, prepared by their cook in their over-sized split level. That's specific, I know. But that's the head space I was in and that's the head space that allowed me to enjoy my meal at Le Bistro. I came here with a large group of folks I have known since my teen years and we were ready to eat, drink and carouse. Given our group's size and the relatively sparse crowd on a Saturday night, we were given the big table in the front dining room. Despite being on display I welcomed the seating. Our server was chatty and friendly. Realizing that we were a table of (mostly) newbies, she told us about the $70 prix fixe menu*: 5 courses from appetizer to dessert. Done. Sold. Let's do this. To accompany the first part of my meal, I had to begin with a French 75. The glass was lovely. The champagne was bubbly. And the gin was a respectable pour but not so heavy as to overwhelm the lemon and other elements. Plus, hibiscus for a purpley hue. We're off to a good start. Soup: Lobster bisque. Full of sweet lobster meat, cream, deft use of tomato paste and pepper, and as much butter as one could want in a serving. My cholesterol levels would have to be sated on another day. Appetizer: Crab cakes. I figured if the lobster was a hit, let's stay in the same neighborhood. A plate of Dungeness crab came breaded, flaky, sweet, and meaty to my waiting belly. Paired with a delightful (appropriate use of the word, given the French setting) remoulade, this former New Orleanian had no notes or complaints save wanting more. Salad: House Caesar. Keeping with my fishy meal, I was pleased to note that the salad was very (white) anchovy heavy and the cheese was Parmigiano-Reggiano rather than Parmesan. AND it, too, was served with a heavy hand. I understand that some may want editing but when eating this style of food in this setting, set the dial to 11. Going into the home stretch, I requested a glass of Grenache. Our server let me know that she had a blend. I told her that was good enough and when I received it, I was ready for my entree. Main: U/10 scallops (ie the big boys). No fear of any heavy handedness in this dish. The protein was prepared perfectly so as to allow for the sweet flavor of the delicate meat to come through. And even though it was served 'French-style' (coated in a Fontal bechamel sauce, topped with breadcrumbs and broiled until browned), I never lost the plot on the scallops. Dessert: An assortment of macarons. Completely serviceable (not an insult; a descriptor). Every course was fair to generous in size and I left satisfied, full and happy. This isn't trendy, sceney food. This is old school, well-executed French comfort food and it was wonderful. When vacationing in Lake Tahoe (or, if you live there), I can't imagine not putting Le Bistro as part of the rotation. *Prices may have gone up since then.
