The classes are consistent because everyone follows the CorePower formula, but I rarely leave feeling like I deepened my practice or learned something new from a seasoned practitioner. A lot of the instruction feels more like executing a system after certification than teaching from years of personal practice. The flows are fine, but there's often a lack of depth and adjustment you tend to get from teachers who have spent a long time immersed in yoga beyond a corporate training pipeline. You notice it in things like teachers forgetting where they are in the flow or struggling to keep pace with the class they're leading, and overly commercial playlists that create more of a fitness studio atmosphere than a mindful one. Overall, this feels more like yoga for people looking for a workout and a pleasant atmosphere than for those seeking a deeper practice. You might describe it as "McYoga", but maybe expecting more from a national corporate chain is unrealistic. And that all said, there's one or two teachers there who actually do know what they're doing.

A little background on me, for the past 15 or so years, I've been training the typical "bro split" prioritizing building muscle while sacrificing everything else, including my cardio and mobility; I never gave those things much consideration. To switch things up, I decided to join a CrossFit gym in October 2025 to switch things up a little. All it took was a month of CrossFit for my lack of cardio and mobility training to catch up to me, and I got my first ever injury while training...a tweak in my lower back. That was my sign to reach out to Alex, especially after having followed him on instagram for a few years (and taken two previous group classes with him in 2023) I reached out and scheduled my initial consultation. We determined I'd be a great fit and decided on a 3 month dedicated program. In just those 3 months, my lower back issue was completely resolved, my shoulder mobility limitations were improved dramatically and I learned so much about how to restructure my training style to align with the postural restoration techniques Alex teaches. Alex was able to show me how to integrate these techniques into my usual exercises so I could still build muscle but prevent the mobility imbalances and getting stuck in movement patterns and body positioning that caused so much of the nagging aches and pains I learned to just live with.
