We popped into Underground for a drink while waiting to head over to an improv show at Saks. It was early Friday evening and the place wasn't packed which was nice. The bartender was friendly. They didn't seem to have a huge selection of drafts on tap so I would have liked to see more options there, but I found one I liked so it wasn't a big deal. The paintings on the walls were pretty cool and the overall vibe was fine. It seemed like an a-okay spot to grab a quick drink and I'd probably pop in again in the future if in the area.

If you need a place to catch a fairly priced drink and hang with friends, Underground is a great spot to stop at! The staff are friendly and attentive. The bar is very casual, very social. And the drinks are fairly priced. Me and my partner stopped here for the Halloween bar crawl and enjoyed some tea shots and ciders. Add this to your Orlando bar crawl list!

Another downtown Orlando lunch outing. We decided to try this casual pub for lunch. Aside from the little mishap of our server spilling salsa on a co-worker, I was happily surprised that the food was pretty tasty, and service, mishap notwithstanding was good. Even better they had half priced drinks at lunch which we felt compelled to try. Mixed drinks, wine, and beer on tap and bottled. This pub is pretty laid back, nice vibe, good food and service.

The Buffalo Chicken Sandwich is AMAZING. Truly delicious and crunchy, so flavorful. Really well done The food came out so hot and fresh. I took some of it home since it was a generous portion. Service was acceptable, and my server was sweet. Atmosphere was a bit loud, but that's no real fault of the restaurant and in keeping with the pub feel. The have specials every weekday and a decent happy hour. I'd go back. But seriously, GET the sandwich.

Walked into this place on a whim. It's on Orange ave in the middle of prime real estate, so we thought we would give it a try. The set up is nice w/ a large bar and easy seating... However from the moment we walked in my olfactory receptors were assaulted by the stench of sour beer and mildew trash. After 15 min our receptors were saturated & overstimulated so they no longer sent the smelly signals to our brains (desensitized to the smell). We thought the friendly bartender could make up for the stench. Alas, my taste receptors were assaulted by my unsalted margarita. I slowly sipped my drink waiting for the ice to water down my abrasive margarita. The friendly bartender offered us food, and we decided to fully commit to trying this bar and all its amenities. We ordered the chicken fingers which I'm pretty sure were battered in Kellogg's cornflakes. Again my taste buds cried out in pain and confusion - what are you doing to us?!? The music playing was excellent, and the bar was quite beautiful. Visual and auditory receptors were spared the pain my olfactory and taste receptors suffered. Overall I would not recommend this place. Bartender was friendly, bar is very nice, and prices are cost effective. However the stench, the drinks, and the food are not experiences I want to partake in again. Once was enough. There are many other better(less pungent) places to try in downtown on Orange Ave.

Worst service I've ever received from a bar. I don't know if it's because I'm black but I spent $600 on shots and was later notified to be removed from from the bar by the manager. I guess they care about the money instead of the person spending the money overall. In the end I paid for everything just to be respected with nothing but that might be the motto

'Ello chaps! If you're looking for a "British inspired" pub kind of spot, then underground Public House may be the best option on Orange Avenue. It's a gimmick, sure, but cool vibe of the place. Great service, pretty good food, and they say it's always five o'clock here. They seem to have a good selection of beers on tap. A few outdoor dining sports, and plenty of space inside. Slipped in with a few friends by chance, and ended up leaving pretty impressed. One of the better spots thus far on Orange Avenue.

    Drunken douchebag.

This place isn't the best for atmosphere on a Sunday. Mainly drunk amateur hour crowd it seems. One guy wanted to start a fight with an old man. I had to intervene and tell him to shut the $@@$ up. After that I had this one guy hanging off my chair eyes bloodshot to hell and he almost fell over. The bar recognized the drunk guy and proceeded to kick him out. They didn't kick the drunk idiot that tries to start a fight in front of a family who was just trying to eat. Bartenders were very attentive with us and never had to wait for a drink. I'd give 5 stars if they kicked out the douche who wants to fight old men.

Had a great experience. Brooke and John behind the bar were friendly and professional. Prompt service with a smile. Great Friday happy hour with $3.00 "everything". Didn't try the food but menu looks great! Will be back again!

Fish and chips. Not the best, but pretty decent

A downtown "bar restaurant" with good food and fun events. I've been to Underground a few times for lunch and various events (they have a poker game there every Tuesday). I've ordered a variety of food items over my various visits, and my food has always turned out to be pretty good. This review will focus on my most recent visit to this venue, which is located on the downtown portion of Orange Avenue. I went with my co-workers to grab some lunch. The venue is set up with a bar taking up the entire left side of the restaurant and tables taking up the remainder. The amount and placement of tables always seems to be in flux (for example, the first time I went there was only about 10 tables with a huge empty space in the middle, while this time there was about 20-25 with very little space between them), but the waitresses (and bartenders for events) have generally been pretty good about getting to you quickly. They have lots of tvs and several fun signs up on the wall (the 10 bar rules sign always makes me laugh). What sets this place apart from other venues is the quality of food. While their range of food options has been reduced in recent months (I had a crazy mac and cheese egg sandwich a while ago that is no longer on the menu), the food that they do offer is a little better than your average downtown bar. The reason the food seems to be better is that the cooks seem to know how to use spices. The burgers and wings and sandwiches I've ordered (while occasionally much spicier than I was expecting) have always had fun and interesting flavors. While their food don't come close to matching the more "classic" downtown restaurants, such as Kasa or Artisan's Table, the food is in the upper echelon of the downtown "bar restaurants." Going back to my most recent visit, I decided to order the fish and chips to see how they stacked up to other downtown venues. While not as good as Harp and Celt's awesome offering, the fish they served was tasty and the breading was uniquely "airy" or fluffy if that makes sense (some people may not like the thin detached breading, but I thought it made for a fun approach to this dish). Not the best of their dishes I've had, but it was satisfying and cheaper than the other downtown fish and chip offerings. Overall, Underground is one of the better downtown "bar restaurants." If you are looking for a casual place to grab lunch or to eat some dinner and watch the game while you are downtown, Underground isn't a bad place to check out.

I went with my brother and sister-in-law, and the food was excellent. The lemon pepper dry rub wings were absolutely amazing--crispy, flavorful, and seasoned perfectly. They were so good I jokingly wanted to bite my fingers afterward! I also tried the Honey Thai wings, but they just weren't for me because I don't really enjoy spicy food. That's completely a personal preference, though. The edamame was fresh and tasty, and the appetizers we shared were all very good. Even though the restaurant was completely packed, the service was impressive. I expected a long wait, but I was seated almost immediately, and our server kept everything moving smoothly despite how busy it was. The only downside is the parking. There isn't convenient parking directly in front of the restaurant, so you'll need to park in the nearby garage, take the elevator down, and walk over. The good news is that parking on the top floor is free. Along the walk, there were several outdoor vendors selling fresh fruit drinks, roasted corn, sweet treats, and small shopping items, which made the walk a little more enjoyable. There were several places to choose from, but this one seemed like a good fit because it wasn't overly loud, and we wanted to be able to hear each other. We initially sat outside, but we were told they had stopped serving the outdoor seating area, so we moved inside. Rather than wait for a server, we decided to order directly from the bar since it seemed like the faster option. There weren't enough seats at the bar for our group of five, so we grabbed a nearby booth. The bartender was friendly, and our drinks were excellent. Unfortunately, that's where the positive experience ended. Although people were not coming in, but some people were eating, and enjoying drinks throughout the restaurant, it seemed like the staff had started cleaning up for the night. A server came over, and we explained that we were only there for drinks. After we received our drinks from the bar, he returned and told us that we would soon have to get up so he could clean the table. Seriously? I looked around and saw several other tables where some guests were simply sitting, talking, and enjoying their drinks. They weren't eating either. It made us feel as though, because we had only ordered beverages, we weren't as welcome as everyone else. I chose not to let one person's behavior ruin our evening because I'd rather believe that one employee doesn't represent the entire establishment. In fact, the bartender was great, and the drinks were very well made. What disappointed me was the server's attitude. I wasn't aware that ordering drinks at a restaurant with a full bar wasn't enough to be considered a paying customer, especially when there weren't enough bar stools to accommodate our group. His approach came across as rude, unprofessional, and completely unnecessary. Needless to say, we were not going to get up until we had finished out drinks, and we did not. I may return to try the food because the drinks were impressive, but if I ever encounter that same server again, I definitely won't be sitting in his section.
