We popped into Underground for a drink while waiting to head over to an improv show at Saks. It was early Friday evening and the place wasn't packed which was nice. The bartender was friendly. They didn't seem to have a huge selection of drafts on tap so I would have liked to see more options there, but I found one I liked so it wasn't a big deal. I just had an absolutely awful experience at underground. There was a 'security guard' being insanely rude about their closing time at 2am. It was before 1:30 and he mentioned how cops patrol before 2am to make sure they follow compliance laws, which I completely understand, because I am a bartender myself. I know the laws and rules. This man rudely grabbed my drink out of my hand and said to get out. There was about 20 minutes before the establishment closed and he was being disgusting and rude. I would honestly say the way he confronted me was borderline assault. There was no reason for this man with dreads to be so rude. I am extremely friendly and cordial and the energy between him and the bartender was super hostile. I don't feel comfortable supporting this establishment anymore. The way my friends and I were treated was inexcusable. There is no reason why a 'security guard' who I have been nothing but friendly with to be so volatile and hostile. He was extremely out of line with his behavior and truly I don't condone that type of behavior being an industry worker myself. The Buffalo Chicken Sandwich is AMAZING. Truly delicious and crunchy, so flavorful. Really well done The food came out so hot and fresh. I took some of it home since it was a generous portion. Service was acceptable, and my server was sweet. Atmosphere was a bit loud, but that's no real fault of the restaurant and in keeping with the pub feel. Walked into this place on a whim. It's on Orange ave in the middle of prime real estate, so we thought we would give it a try. The set up is nice w/ a large bar and easy seating... However from the moment we walked in my olfactory receptors were assaulted by the stench of sour beer and mildew trash. After 15 min our receptors were saturated & overstimulated so they no longer sent the smelly signals to our brains (desensitized to the smell). We thought the friendly bartender could make up for the stench. Alas, my taste receptors were assaulted by my unsalted margarita. I slowly sipped my drink waiting for the ice to water down my abrasive margarita. The friendly bartender offered us food, and we decided to fully commit to trying this bar and all its amenities. We ordered the chicken fingers which I'm pretty sure were battered in Kellogg's cornflakes. Again my taste buds cried out in pain and confusion - what are you doing to us?!? The music playing was excellent, and the bar was quite beautiful. Visual and auditory receptors were spared the pain my olfactory and taste receptors suffered. Overall I would not recommend this place. Bartender was friendly, bar is very nice, and prices are cost effective. However the stench, the drinks, and the food are not experiences I want to partake in again. Once was enough. The liquid lunch was amazing.... with delicious food and half price drinks, but the powers that be decided for whatever reason to take out the kitchen and truly be just a bar. The only weekday they are open early is on Friday, which is 1pm. The rest of the week is 4 pm. Friday happy hour is still half off though. Great drinks, awesome bartenders, good deals! 'Ello chaps! If you're looking for a "British inspired" pub kind of spot, then underground Public House may be the best option on Orange Avenue. It's a gimmick, sure, but cool vibe of the place. Great service, pretty good food, and they say it's always five o'clock here. They seem to have a good selection of beers on tap. A few outdoor dining sports, and plenty of space inside. This place isn't the best for atmosphere on a Sunday. Mainly drunk amateur hour crowd it seems. One guy wanted to start a fight with an old man. I had to intervene and tell him to shut the $@@$ up. As we sat at the bar, we saw a server deliver this monstrous burger to a table behind me & I knew I had to have it....until I saw that they served Philly cheesesteaks & gyros. A downtown "bar restaurant" with good food and fun events. I've been to Underground a few times for lunch and various events (they have a poker game there every Tuesday). I've ordered a variety of food items over my various visits, and my food has always turned out to be pretty good. This review will focus on my most recent visit to this venue, which is located on the downtown portion of Orange Avenue. I went with my co-workers to grab some lunch. The venue is set up with a bar taking up the entire left side of the restaurant and tables taking up the remainder. The amount and placement of tables always seems to be in flux (for example, the first time I went there was only about 10 tables with a huge empty space in the middle, while this time there was about 20-25 with very little space between them), but the waitresses (and bartenders for events) have generally been pretty good about getting to you quickly. They have lots of tvs and several fun signs up on the wall (the 10 bar rules sign always makes me laugh). What sets this place apart from other venues is the quality of food. While their range of food options has been reduced in recent months (I had a crazy mac and cheese egg sandwich a while ago that is no longer on the menu), the food that they do offer is a little better than your average downtown bar. The reason the food seems to be better is that the cooks seem to know how to use spices. The burgers and wings and sandwiches I've ordered (while occasionally much spicier than I was expecting) have always had fun and interesting flavors. While their food don't come close to matching the more "classic" downtown restaurants, such as Kasa or Artisan's Table, the food is in the upper echelon of the downtown "bar restaurants." Going back to my most recent visit, I decided to order the fish and chips to see how they stacked up to other downtown venues. While not as good as Harp and Celt's awesome offering, the fish they served was tasty and the breading was uniquely "airy" or fluffy if that makes sense (some people may not like the thin detached breading, but I thought it made for a fun approach to this dish). Not the best of their dishes I've had, but it was satisfying and cheaper than the other downtown fish and chip offerings. Overall, Underground is one of the better downtown "bar restaurants." If you are looking for a casual place to grab lunch or to eat some dinner and watch the game while you are downtown, Underground isn't a bad place to check out. read more

Want to preface this with the fact that i am a bartender and i would absolutely never act this way towards any customer under any circumstance. Me and my 2 friends came in last night and asked if they were still serving as we're not from the orlando area and the bar was dead so we would've left if they were closing up. The bartender is immediately rude and says yeah unless you're underage..? My friend asks if they have Jameson he says they ran out and we don't have to drink there then proceeds to tell us he doesn't want our money. It was the most unprovoked thing ever. This place is very hit or miss. I used to really like it, but have had a few bad experiences recently. When it isn't crowded it's a great place for food and drinks. The service is generally solid, the beer selection is decent, and the food is actually very good. Their wings are great, as are the sandwiches. I really like their peanut butter jalapenos balls too. Be forewarned though, this place turns into D-bag central at night. I went here to watch a sporting event last week and was very turned off by the place. They had a DJ playing, and it got very lame. I was forced to leave at halftime. I ordered wings and they were super greasy and lacked the flavor as on previous visits. I could tell they were trying to rush the order out instead of cooking it properly. The Jalapeno balls were even disappointing. Obviously this isn't a "sports bar", so I shouldn't complain too much about not getting to watch my game. I met a fellow Yelper here for lunch since we both work Downtown. It's supposed to be fashioned after a typical British pub. They even serve fish and chips! :) It occupies the former space of Ichiban sushi. I got here at 1pm, walked in and it was paaacked! I ended up grabbing a table on their covered patio. It was actually fine. Weather was beautiful and they had fans overhead. A server eventually came by and dropped some menus off and took drink orders. The menu is a simple one and not too overwhelming which I can appreciate. It's a pub like atmosphere so lots of bar fare. I ended up going with the buffalo chicken burger with fries. It was huuge. Very tasty but a lot of food for lunch. Definitely shareable. Ended up taking the rest to go. Service was good. Our waitress made a point to check on us every so often even with being busy inside. Called ahead to order my lunch. The Buffalo Mac-n-Cheese. Was told it would be 10 minutes. Left 11 minutes after the call, knowing they run slow. When I arrived I had to wait another 10 minutes for my food. Was thinking, okay, at least it will be piping hot. Got back to my office, less than a 2 minute walk and the food was cold. I am not sure why. The mac n cheese was so cold that it was solidified together and dry. The chicken is dry but the crust is soggy from the sauce. I have been eating at this place over 3 years and it is always hit or miss; however, after today, I believe that I will be sticking to drinks and pretzels from there. That is about all. So far I'm not a huge fan, but it's new and they might still be working out the kinks, so I'll give it a couple more tries. It seems like it will be a neat place to go watch football or basketball and have some beers and bar food. I went for dinner the other night and the service was absolutely horrible. I think I asked for my water and my beer on three separate occasions until I finally got my drinks, which was about 10 minutes later. I was also served the wrong beer on the first go around. It also took a long time for her to come back to the table to place our orders and was difficult to get a hold of when we needed something since she did not come back to the table to check on us. I ordered the crispy chicken buffalo sandwich. It was pretty tasty and the piece of chicken was huge. The fries that came on the side though were very soggy and not good at all. They do have a good selection of craft beers here that are decently priced. I'm hoping they can fix their service problems and the limp french fries. And a sidenote, they have a terrible happy hour which I'm hoping gets better over time. The only beer special they offer is $3.00 Bud Lites which I can get cheaper almost any place downtown, not to mention that's the worst beer ever so I opted for a $4.00 craft beer. Underground is a pretty decent bar - with pretty decent bar food. I like the burgers (the regular menu burgers, not the Tuesday $1 burgers). The Pastrami Reuben just might be one of the best things on the menu...and I think anyone ordering the Fish N' Chips would be disappointed with what you get from a "pub". For Orlando and the alternatives very nearby, I think pretty much everything on the menu is a little over-priced - this includes their craft beers. The beer selection is pretty decent for a mainstream downtown bar like this - the music selection is pretty modern - and the cocktails are pretty decent pours. The best time to hit Underground is Thursday night after 10pm....50% off your bar tab once you spend $20. It certainly makes those $7.50 craft beers more affordable. The service here is hit or miss sometimes depending on who is working and how busy they are. I do have to agree with another review that mentioned - after about a year open - it does already sort of have that "sticky" feeling of a bar to it i.e. service is good, but "I don't make enough money to clean!" read more

We found this place by chance to watch the Super Bowl. My 20 years old brother was with us, so we had to find a place where they would let him in. They were located on downtown Orlando where the fuzz is and we were surprised they would still have a few tables available 15 minutes before the game. They have a lot of options for beers and some whiskies. We drank the good old Budweiser (yeah... I know... Bud is not beer...). We also ordered some starters, they took a while to come but were just awesome! If I were you I wouldn't leave this place without trying the buffalo wings. On the weekends they have a DJ set up that plays great music ranging from hip-hop to dance. There is even a sectioned off room for larger parties. The only drawback is the bathrooms. The food was better than I expected from the reviews. I can see this place get super rowdy and packed on a weekend. We were there on a Sunday and there were a lot of people going in and out. We really enjoyed lunch there today. Extreamely nice wait/bar staff. I like the decor (minimalist). May have been something wrong with the a/c today as it was hot as outdoors in there! The food all looked great, reasonably priced and large portions. Everything we ordered we liked: Fish and Chips (huge piece of fish but fries and brocolli slaw were just "ok"). Obviously being British, this was a tough sell to me.. it should have been served with fat "chips" and mushy peas, but since they are a fusion of 1/2 British / 1/2 Amercian I guess this is their take on it. Goats cheese balls with marinara sauce (delicious and huge)! Best ceaser salad I have ever tasted, beautifully presented with tender grilled chicken on the side. I tried to look at all the other dishes being served around us and they all looked great. I hope this place becomes as consistently good as the Pour House across the street is. This is one of my favorite place to go with all my friends! It always has a great atmosphere whether you want to party or just hang out after work. There is a wide variety of vodkas which I feel is essential to any downtown sports bar. The menu is also great. It could be larger, however it has a good variety of classic bar food and everything is pretty good. Today, I had the buffalo chicken ranch wrap and my date had the fish tacos. Both were phenomenal and definitely hit the spot! The bartender was also hilarious. After taking a while with our drink order, he felt bad so he gave us a shot of our choice and took it with us which was pretty fun! Wonderful overall experience eating there tonight.
