There was also an outdoor patio area. We had the entire room to ourselves and our waiter was great. He was super attentive, friendly, and professional. Our food and drinks were delicious. Our waiter even recommended good pairing wines to order. The poke bowl portion was huge. The crème brûlée was one of the best I've ever had. This place was beautiful and upscale, but not overly stuffy. We were allowed to dine in casual clothing.

I understand that every business has policies, but customer service should never by simply quoting the rules. The way it was handled made my family feel like an inconvenience rather than valued, loyal customers. Sadly,we left feeling disappointed, unwelcome, and questioning whether our business was truly appreciated. As people of color, the experience also left us wondering whether we were being treated differently. Whether intentional or not that was the impact. We hope the restaurant will reconsider both this policy and how it is communicated. Good food brings people in...great hospitality is what brings them back. Sadly, some family members will not return. Signed someone who understands what great service and great hospitality looks like.

You get a card that's linked to your payment of choice and you can dispense your drink from this cute display of wines from sweet Moscato to a nice Cabernet. Once you put your card in, The dispensers are set to a taste, have glass, or full glass. And you press the button and the dispenser pours the perfect glass! It's really an experience! The wines are available for purchase and on Tuesdays are half off bottles! I will probably not ever be in Camden on a Tuesday, but if I am, you know where to find me!

The building itself is beautiful. It is built on an old bank. The system utilized to sample the wines is really cool. Similar to one I seen in Italy. You basically insert a card an select the wine you want, and the machine pours the perfect amount into your glass. Really cool. It is a good way to sample wines before you decide to buy them. We ordered a couple of appetizers, and in my personal opinion they were lackluster. The presentation was not the greatest, especially at the price point. Other than that, it was great. Will return.

Only $7 to taste multiple wines (which change week to week), and you don't have to wait a month for the next 'wine tasting'. Grotto has an actual tasting bar, plus an option to order a plate of exotic salami and cheeses which can't be bought locally. This gives Grotto a huge advantage over Mickey Fins which is set up like the inside of a gas station. Mickey fins has competitive pricing, and a very large selection, but does not do daily tastings, nor do they have a bar/sit down area. Both know their wines well, both have been friendly and helpful. Overall, this is a wonderful place to buy wines or to relax and socialize with friends!

All of this is true of The Grotto, and more. Vince and Maura, the owners of this lovely wine bar, are amazing! They have really managed to create something special. They both really love and really know wine! And they love to talk with people, from the beginner to the expert, about vino. Vince has amassed a truly impressive and unique collection of wines that you won't be able to find anywhere except maybe Charleston. And he's very good at helping people find interesting and unique wines at great prices. If you like or love wine, check this place out. I can't emphasize it enough. You won't regret it!

I decided to try the meatballs because they had no reviews for them and they offer the as an appetizer and also on a flatbread pizza. The meatballs were actually legit! The sauce was flavorful, you could see the herbs; and the same with meatballs. You can see a bit of herb and they were delicious. But why the 2 star review? This is an "upscale " restaurant for Santee, SC. Entrees run$24-$99! But it was BROILING HOT in the dining room. The thermostat on the wall read 85 and 86 degrees F, and I'm fairly certain that's against some sort of health code. Regardless, I was SWEATING. I could only eat 1 of 4 meatballs because I was just too hot to eat. And the women's bathroom was its own level of hell. Like a free sauna, except there's a toilet and a lingering eau de toilet of and it had to be at least 92 if not hotter in that tiny bathroom. I mean, they did have a small desk fan in there trying to help out, but look this isn't a 3rd world country without AC. If that tiny bathroom is that hot, I can't imagine how hot the kitchen is, and that can't be safe for the staff or for food safety. Management definitely needs to prioritize getting their AC up To snuff, ASAP.

Wonderful service, got a table right away and waiter came by immediately to take drinks and appetizer order and go over specials of the day. I liked the interior layout and that you can watch the chefs prepare entrees while you dine. That alone can be entertaining if you are dining alone. Reminded me of Ted's Montana Grill. Now for the food..., everything came out quickly. We got the deviled eggs, and New Orleans Shrimp as appetizers and the flavors were amazing. I simply had to use the corn bread to dip up the New Orleans sauce after the shrimp were gone, it was had good! After appetizers I didn't want a large meal, so I got the daily scallops special. It was just the right amount. The scallops were grilled just right, and the sauce (the sauce again!) was flavorful with a mild spice kick to it. Blueberry sorbet for dessert, locally made. While staying at the Hyatt Place, we were happy to visit Town Hall restaurant which is directly diagonal across the street. The restaurant is very attractive and modern - it appears that Florence is going through somewhat of a Renaissance, and they are developing around some very nice hotels and restaurants, complemented by a small town feel. At this restaurant, there is apparently a rooftop bar/patio, we enjoyed the dining room instead. Our server, Lara quickly approached and offered drinks and some menu suggestions. We wanted to sample many things, so we ordered a number of appetizers rather than going with entrees. Some that I would highly recommend include the cornbread, the seared scallops, and the grilled chicken wings. We also enjoyed some shrimp skewers which were good / not great, and some calamari which is prepared very differently than we're accustomed to - if you do get the calamari, ask first about the preparation. This is a moderately priced restaurant, for us it was about $50 per person, you can certainly get reasonably priced entrees for less, and it may be quite a bit more for people who may be drinking. Since there is a full bar, it appeared that many tables were coming as much for the drinks as they were for the food. If you happen to be in the Florence, SC area, this is certainly a great choice with a beautiful dining area, wonderful service, great food, and a walkable and safe downtown area.
