I went to return a pair of shoes I purchased for my son about two months ago and was told that I…read morehad missed the return window by only two days. I contacted customer service, and they explained that the store manager has the discretion to make the final decision. I wasn't asking for anything unreasonable--I simply wanted to exchange the shoes for a different size for my son. Unfortunately, the manager refused to make an exception, even though it was only two days past the return period. I ended up having to purchase another pair for my son for his birthday. What disappointed me most was the way the situation was simply handled and that the final decision had been made. Based on this experience, I would not recommend this location. Good customer service starts with good management, and a good manager can make a big difference in keeping customers coming back.

We visited during lunch time and the store was pretty busy with customers and a lot of the workers were just stepping out for lunch. When we checked out I noticed one guy at the register and the line was quite long, but he was working 2 registers at the same time.... Wow, is all I have to say. When it was our turn to check out I realized the tag on his shirt said "assistant manager", if Famous Footwear doesn't promote this guy to management then you're crazy. With no hesitation, he was handling 2 customers at the same time, juggling questions customers also had. He even informed me that the 2nd item didn't have to be shoes and could be any other items with less or equal value to honor the 50% off, so I ended up getting my younger son a lunch bag here. This gentleman was very informative, very friendly and still managed to multitask. Prices weren't that great as far as sales and I always like good sales, but when you have great customer service then a lot of times people come back due to the service. I would definitely come back and hope that Famous Footwear acknowledges that gentleman because he is an outstanding worker.

Rack Room Shoes I am not a Sneakerhead, a Hype Beast, hell I…read morebarely care to buy shoes as long as mine are currently comfortable and functional. My oldest son on the other hand very much enjoys a new pair of shoes, thankfully he is doesn't ask for Jordan BREDs or similar but he definitely doesn't opt for clearance. We visited Rack Room Shoes on a Friday evening around 6pm, this place reminds me of any other shoes store, shelves lined up with shoes on display. Walking in it was obvious it was not busy, there was maybe five customers in total besides my family who just walked in, but only one person at the counter paying. I could only see two girls (workers) and both were at the counter but the store was bit of a mess. Just like any store products need to be either replenished or properly faced to help the customer see products better. While my son was searching for his shoe I was looking around to see if I could find myself a good deal. The Rack Room Shoes had a deal at the moment to purchase one pair at the regular price and get a second pair for half off. This type of deal entices me to look for myself, otherwise I hesitate very much. After about five minutes I saw a sign for some Nikes that were priced at $39.99, instantly I am thinking Nikes for half of that price? I read the description and it didn't provide a colorway so I assumed it was just the style on sale and any colorway was up for that price. Apparently not, it was just the navy ones which was okay for me but it had my hopes up for those deep grey ones. When I approached the worker to question the price she then mentioned it was only the navy ones. I didn't argue but I did question the description was only for the style and not a specific color. Most times the workers have rude replies but she was apologetic for the error and stated that for the month the price was offered on the style but the colors on sale changed each week. I was good with that answer, I worked in retail and can see how corporate messes these type of things up and the worker can only work with it so much. Rack Room Shoes is a decent place to buy shoes, they don't have the latest and greatest, well maybe the latest because I saw some great looking shoes. The only thing I didn't care for was the lack of cleanliness, boxes weren't fixed and it was clearly obvious that one of the workers could be doing this while just standing at the counter waiting for a customer to purchase shoes. Since this store is about a 30-45 minute drive at the outlets, it doesn't deem as a feasible option for buying shoes unless we are coming here already or on the way back to Bakersfield from the LA area.

Why did I rate this only average is because we came during back to school shopping a few times (earlier this week and a few other times on years prior). The sales here are no different than the sales they have on a regular basis. Any time we have visited Skechers Factory Outlet no matter what location it is, they always have the buy one, get the second one for 50% off. Visiting here for back to school shopping, I didn't feel they had any promotions for the back to school shoppers. I felt that I could probably find a good deal at the Outlets rather than in Bakersfield because this place caters to the Outlet shoppers who look for deals and promotions. So if you're thinking you'll get a better deal at Skechers @ Tejon Outlets then you're wrong. You're better off saving your gas and just going to your local Skechers. You'll be just as satisfied at this location versus your local store. Please don't think this is knocking on Skechers in general because we shop at Skechers often because my older son thinks Skechers has very comfortable shoes and I can back that fact up also, I just find it hard to not see any deals for the past 4 years for back to school shopping. As far as staff, they seemed okay. Staff only helped if you went to look for help and the cash register girl look like she wanted to be there. She didn't make eye contact or smile and just moved right along to the next person.

From looking for the sizes I needed, to suggesting alternative models they went above and beyond! I bought a pair of tennis shoes that I really liked but they didn't have my size, only 1/2 bigger, I figured I would buy them anyways. Their system however, was showing that they had a pair of my size but the girl helping me just couldn't find them in the back. She was so bothered by it, and kept searching for them until she realized they were on one of the mannequins. Yayyyy I got to take home the right size. I bought another pair for my husband but when he tried them at home they didn't fit. And they had a full size run of everything I was eyeing. There was a good selection of spring merchandise and all of it was so cute. The only interaction I had with an employee was at the register. They were quick and efficient with ringing up everyone in line. The weekend we visited, everything was 50% off. If you sign up for their rewards program, you receive coupons for % off your purchases. Plus, with the rewards program, when you spend $75, you get a $10 reward coupon. Reaching $75 is easy seeing how fast babies can outgrow their clothing, so any savings is awesome. My only complaint is that there is so much merchandise that it can be a tight squeeze fitting a stroller in between the racks. I probably won't be visiting this store any time soon, but I recommend this store if you are stopping by the outlets and need some new cute outfits for your little ones.

The store is clean, not too cluttered, and there are small informative postings to help with the math on the discounts offered. The people are nice, and we did not waste time at check-out. It would be better if the store has participating customers volunteer the information and not waste time with this. I say this because it not only wastes the customer who is at the front of the line but EVERYONE behind as well.
