Great bike shop!! Took my E Bike for some adjustments. They were quick and friendly. And the price was right!!

This review is for their key making. My work required a set of keys to be reproduced. 6 to be exact. Four sets total. I went in and had them copied. A few days later i set out to our mini storage to grab some items with said copies keys. Not one key on any set worked... except the original. Frustrating!!! This took a good five hours of my work day from problem to solution. The real clincher was the customer service from the kid behind the counter. Or lack thereof. I sat around waiting for an hour while he redid my keys. I wish he would have told me how long it was going to take as I would have just returned later. read more

Let me start off by stating that I live in Delano, CA. That's around 38 miles away from this location. Where I'm from, we don't have a shop for specific, basic bike items, if it isn't in Walmart - you have to go out of town. At 17 years old, I dislike the rare trips and all the asking around for rides to Bakersfield. When I discovered this shop, it made the trip worth it. I walked in, and was wowed by the presentation - a display of various bikes. I approached the front desk, and was immediately greeted and helped. All I needed were bike tubes in a size that aren't very easy to come by. Not only did they have the size I was looking for, but they also had different types, ranging from standard to thorn proof, heavy duty.The staff was incredibly helpful and talkative, only a quick look in the inventory to complete a fast transaction. I got my items, took a look around, and went back home. I will definitely be coming back. read more

I have to say that Snider's is still the most customer oriented I didn't know that the lock part of the store closed at 3 that's the time I got there with my bike that needed to have a key made for it (I didn't have any keys) they worked on it for over an hour thank you Snider's read more

Terrible service and overpriced. If you want to be treated poorly and feel like your hard earned money is worthless this is the place for you. They will call you last minute and either give you your bike not fixed or not at all and make you waste gas driving there to be disappointed. Finally was able to pick up my bike on my lunch break. When I got it home I noticed the brand new wraps have grease stains that look like they laid it on the floor and i cant get them out. Never going back. Letting all of my friends and everyone who asks me about my bike know to avoid this place. read more

I will never shop at Snider's again. Employee was insulting and very short tempered. My tires were constantly getting flats, so went in to find a solution. When told the advice he gave had already been tried, he went off on me. I didn't deserve that kind of treatment. I'll be SURE to tell anyone who will listen NOT to go to Snider's Cyclery, as they are unkind and very rude to customers. read more

Stopped by the store on union ave first and they didn't have the bike I was looking for, the young girl called this store and confirmed they had the bike I wanted in both colors available. Walked in and was greeted. Spent a few minutes looking at the bikes by myself and then was approached by employee asking if I had any questions. I advised I was interested in this specific bike, but I didn't like the tires that was on the bike. I advised I wanted some white walls. He showed me some white walls that sold for $30 each, he advised the tires on the bike sold for $16. I asked if he would just charge me the difference and install them so I didnt have to spend the full $60 on the tires I wanted? He said not to worry about it and he said he would just swap the tires out for me at no extra charge. After a few minutes the bike with the tires I wanted was ready. This was great customer service that im sure I wouldn't have received at other large box sports chalets that happen to sell the same bike. I received a 10% off discount card good for accessories for a year. Didnt catch his name, but he had dreadlocks and was very helpful and knows good customer service. read more

Sniders' Southwest: Bakersfield is lucky to have some very good bike shops in Bakersfield, and Snider's is at the top of my list. Snider's has very good bike mechanics! The mechanics always make sure I understand the problem/issue and the cost to fix same. If something unexpected is found during the repair, they have always called me and asked "would you like us to fix the problem, and this is what the cost would be". I have had wheels re-lacked and several sets of wheels made and over the years at Sniders' Southwest, and I have never been disappointed in the craftsmanship and workmanship. They are 1st class repairing a bike or making a set of wheels. I would highly recommend this shop for any bike repair! Over the past 35 years I have purchased 7 bikes from this shop, and the last purchase was a road bike in 2014. Before they recommend a bike, they have always made absolutely sure they understood what I wanted the bike for (ie: road, off road, or combination), and the amount of riding I was expecting to do. Once they understood my needs, they always recommended several models suited for my size/needs in my price range, and they explained the pros & cons of each model. They allowed me to ride the bike to "get a feel" for handling. After I made my selection, they customized the bike to me. Bikes have different geometries, so what is good for me may not be good for you. Before making a bike purchase, check with Snider's before doing so. It is a great shop, and Bakersfield is lucky to have it! read more

I haven't even gone in yet and I have already received a bad attitude from an employee over the phone. All they tell you is "bring your bike in" that's it. Then tell me they close at 4pm when really they close at 5.. Seems to me like this company doesn't want customers read more

This review is specifically for the location on New Stein. The Union Avenue location (see my review) should be avoided at all costs. A fairly good family bike store - a good source for BMX and cruisers. Their road and mountain bike lines (Diamond Back, GT, Raleigh and LePierre) are generally middle-of-the-road, made in China (sometimes Taiwan) offerings. Not necessarily bad, but not particularly outstanding... solid is probably the best description. If you're a new rider or have been seriously riding for 2-5 years, this is probably a solid choice for a new bike. I don't share Victoria H.'s experience with their service department. I do most of my own maintenance, but on the occasions that I've had something in for repair, they always quote 2-5 days and have never been late. Recently had a bottom bracket shell and head tube faced - they quoted next day and it was ready early. The workmanship has always been fine. I've spoken with two mechanics on detailed mechanical questions and they're usually very helpful, even if they don't get a sale out of it. Great customer service. Good selection of small repair parts and a reasonable selection of accessories. read more

I purchased my cruiser from Snider's Cyclery and have had many hours of bliss on the ol' girl. Snider's repair shop is adequate, though I much prefer Action Sports' repair shop because of their fast turn-around times. Snider's Cyclery is my pick for novice bikes (like my cruiser) and they have a nice selection of supplies and accessories. My husband recently needed a new tube for the wheel on his wheelchair. After calling around town a bit, we found this place. I can't say enough how friendly and professional these guys were. They found the one we needed, provided a chair for my husband to sit in while we waited and had the thing replaced in a matter of minutes. Such humble, respectful guys - we will definitely be coming back here. read more

I am very disappointed in their service I took two bikes over and had issues with both. The first bike some of the repairs were never addressed even though I asked them to check them on the bike when I dropped it off. THe second bike I took over they never called me I had to contact them daily for two weeks to see if the repairs were done. WHen I picked up the bike the kick stand was loose I fixed it myself at home. For the money I was charged for repairs on both bikes I am very disappointed in their service. read more

Recently went to Sniders off of Stine to have a safety check performed on a bicycle that i had ordered online. The bike was delivered in a box, so i put it together (seat, handlebars pedals and front wheel) so i could just roll it in there. I told them i wanted every bolt checked, the front wheel trued(had a little wobble), disc brakes adjusted and derailers aligned. The abrasive staff kinda blew off my requests by saying "This is what these guys do for a living".. Ok, thats fine. Not a big deal as long as what im paying for is completed. Well when i received the bike i could tell they adjusted my handlebars so i gave them the benefit of the doubt payed my $45 and was on my way. So i go home, take the bike for a spin around the block and notice my front disc brakes rubbing badly. Turns out the caliper bolts were hand tight/loose. Tells me either they didnt do what they said or they forgot to TIGHTEN THE BOLTS.. Excellent safety check there guys. After watching a few youtube videos I ended up adjusting them myself and retightening all the parts. Anyways i wasted $45 to have my handlebars adjusted lmfao. You get 2 stars because the seat you sold me is nice, overpriced, but nice. Ill find somewhere else next time or just do it myself. read more

They are total bicycle snobs. I went in there to get a price on a chain because I was passing by, and I live around the corner. But the little doofus that I encountered as soon as I step through the door, had a bad attitude about answering a simple question. The parking lot was empty and there were no customers in the store. If I were the owner or the manager I think I'd be focusing on customer service. They are already overpriced, so you would expect their service to be better. Otherwise, it's just as easy to go to any other bicycle store in town or even Walmart. Within a few minutes of walking in, I walked out without a bicycle chain and a lot more frustrated than I was when I walked in. I can pretty much guarantee that I won't go back, and I'd recommend that anyone reading this consider going elsewhere. This is especially true, if you want questions answered without a bad attitude. I'd like to give zero stars, but the lowest I can go is one. read more
