Went here for lunch on a late August weekday. The inside was cute and everyone who worked there was friendly. I had the Pasteis which included one vegan heart of palm, two beef, and two cheese crispy little pastry pockets. They were very good. My vegan friend had the Beet Salad that was huge and had lots of lettuce with only oil and pepper as a dressing. She said the ratio of lettuce to tasty stuff wasn't great. I also had the açaí bowl which had strawberries, pineapple, house made granola on top of the açaí. Very good and the house made granola was extra special. I wouldn't return, but it wasn't terrible. The good? Friendly staff, cute vibes and unique menu/food offerings. The bad? Food and drink were lackluster at best. I ordered a matcha latte and it was pretty terrible. Unfortunately, a lot of places can't do matcha, but I was hopeful because this place is also a cafe with baristas, but no. This kind of matcha is why people don't like matcha. I also got the crab eggs benedict, one of the priciest menu items. As I cut this ball of crab open I expected a beautiful poached egg... nope. It was a medium to soft boiled egg that was almost cold inside. The crab cake ball was pretty good but like not worth $26. My girlfriend got a vanilla latte and the berry waffles, which she said both were pretty good. I took a taste of the berry topping on the waffles and it was tasty. I guess she chose better than me! Finally, we did have a wait when we got there, maybe 25 minutes which was not a big deal. But, I guess I should've specified we wanted to sit outside... When we came for our table there were 4 open tables outside, so I asked if we could sit out there. Host said they were for people waiting before us. 2 of the tables sat empty the whole time we were there. Whatever, I won't claim to understand the inner working of restaurants or seating so not a big deal, but it was kinda confusing. I highly recommend this place when in town, in a place dominated mostly by American dishes, this American brunch place with Brazilian flair is a gem! We had the Coconut espresso cold brew, it was light and refreshing during a warm summer weather. We started with Pao de Quejó, a Brazilian cheese bread. We had the Crab Benedict and Maria Lucia (Vegan gluten free omelette) with option to add steak. The restaurant is GF and Vegan friendly and the staff, including the owner Bruno were amazing. They serve Uncommon coffee which is owned by the same owner. Bruno shared how he imports his coffee beans directly from his farm in Brazil. I ordered steak and eggs, servers asks how I would like my eggs, I request over easy with a response if we only do sunny side up or scrambled, I ask why they couldn't just flip the sunny side up egg over for a second.. I am not kidding I think this is one of the best meals I've ever had! Not only is it beautifully plated, but it was all so delicious! We got the avocado toast and the breakfast burrito and both were AMAZING. The staff was also so friendly. They had both indoor and outdoor seating when we went. Also have DELICIOUS coffee. It is like a mix of a cafe and a brunch restaurant so do not expect to be in and out like a quick cafe. The menu has a lot of options. Visited this during our trip to Saugatuck. This place is very new and it's part of the uncommon ground coffee shop. The service is friendly, however extremely slow. They gave us a warning that the food will be delayed by 45 min because they didn't have one of the chefs. The food didn't come out for and hour and half. I also ordered scrambled eggs on my avocado toast and I made a comment to the waitress saying I got an omelette instead of scrambled and she told me "that's scrambled, that's how we made scrambled eggs" which was interesting. Spent the night in Saugatuck and at the restaurant we ate at the night before, I asked if there were any good breakfast spots in town. "not really" was one response and the other recommended a few places that had sub par reviews. We tied up at the dinghy dock in town and walking up that morning, I saw Malu and asked, what's this? We went and read the menu which looked very promising. What I saw were a variety of offerings most of them pretty creative and it seemed to be "clean" food. Our waitress who was great (forgot her name) reinforced my suspicion by saying it was a scratch kitchen and they make everything in house, including their breads. I ordered the creative and fun crab cake eggs benedict because I saw it go by a couple of times and it piqued my curiosity. This dish comes out like a golden brown canon ball, sitting on an english muffin which is sitting on a small green salad, with a thin hollandaise poured over it so it coves the entire "croquette." There is a poached egg in the middle, that is enveloped by the crab cake mixture, then rolled in breading and fried. While I don't eat much fried food, this was pretty darn good and certainly tasty! The coffee was awesome as well, actually had a cappuccino. My dining partner made his own breakfast with eggs, sausage, toast, etc. and he said it was excellent. The owner came out to see how we enjoyed our meal. He's a really nice, personable fella and easy to talk to. We spoke quite a bit about food, Brazil, Saugatuck and more food. I really don't think there is much I could recommend to have made our experience much better; it was exactly what we were looking for and the visit and attention detail by the owner at the end was a really nice touch. Not a good experience all round. First, we asked to sit outside, but said that the open table was reserved . Was not offered the opportunity to reserve it as well. Meanwhile, we watched multiple tables sit empty. We were told to use the the back cafe entrance to order food to eat on the street. Fortunately, the nice people at the Mexican restaurant next door let us sit at one of their tables . The ordering process was not easy . I ordered the breakfast burrito (thinking it would be the easiest to hold on the sidewalk-nope). The burrito came with sausage. I asked to substitute bacon instead but was told the sausage was mixed in with the eggs (odd, especially since I was able to order it without sausage ). Although the two women were doing their best, they seemed to be over-whelmed . We waited 30 mins for a "to go " order. The burritos were $19 and had 4 little potatoes limit egg and packed with sweet peppers . The sweet taste rendered the burrito unappetizing, and discarded most of it. All I'm all , when I'm saugatuck there are plenty of other places to eat. I would suggest trying somewhere else. read more

The food tastes and looks like it is cooked hours in advance. Gluey oatmeal. Scrambled eggs that look and taste like they come out of a box. "Fried" chicken tenders taste like yesterday's leftovers hastily reheated, with peeling, watery breading. Waffles that taste like cardboard. Most critically, I informed the server of a serious allergy. She assured me she would put a note on the order. Then my food came full of the allergen-- I am lucky that I could smell it before I put any in my mouth. All of this and the price was astronomical for breakfast.
