Iced vanilla latte, tourist wrap panini
Ruth P.

Great baristas, beautifully decorated for Christmas and very welcoming. The tourist wrap panini was amazing and the fruit was very fresh.

I wished we had more time in this cute coffee shop that we visited over the weekend. Our friend in Saugatuck had pointed out this coffee shop, and I am glad that he did. We had originally gone up the road to some outdoor coffee shop, which was not a convenient place to be with a laptop and coffee. So, my husband and I immediately decided to check this place out. From the outside, Respite appears more like a meet and greet coffee shop, but when we walked in, we noticed how well it was set up with plenty of tables, nicely supplied with study lamps at each table. The best part, it appears each table had an available outlet. This is widely important when you have a laptop such as my husband's that dies quickly. Overall, the inside reminded me of some French cafe, very nice. Even better than the tables was the service. I can't begin to tell you how this coffee shop, although small, had the nicest people out of any restaurants we had visited during our trip. The baristas were invested in getting to know us, and not on some superficial level. That speaks volumes. The nicest part was that they were tossing out some old donuts and offered them to us, which was super sweet. The drip coffee was excellent as well. Their house blend had some mocha flavor to it and it went well with the delightful hazelnut/ espresso cake we had. This cake had a nice, light whipped espresso topping with hazelnuts as decor. Very tasty but not over the top. I plan to come back next time I am in the area.

Tourist Wrap

Respite Cappuccino Court should be on everyone's list of coffee/breakfast stops on their Saugatuck vacation! The shop itself is very cute and welcoming. We chose to sit outside because it was a beautiful day! The Tourist Wrap and Toast Flight were amazing! We'll definitely be back!

This has got to be the best drink and breakfast I've ever had. Super nice woman working. And the shop was the cutest place ever!

The avocado toast with fruit and lavender latte were both excellent. Service was great, too. I can't wait to try this place again!

I love this little coffee shop! It's located in the heart of downtown Douglas so you can walk to all the cute stores before or after stopping here. They have an extensive drink menu, a pastry cabinet filled with decadent sweets and savory snacks. They also have a pretty diverse menu consisting of sandwiches, wraps, salads and toasted breads. Today I had a Raspberry French Soda, my mom had an Iced Latte and we shared the Toast Flight which consisted of one slice of their Avocado Toast, Feeling Fruity Toast and Lavender Honey Toast and 3 sides of fresh berries. Everything was delicious and the service was quick and friendly. They have inside and outside seating available. This is always one of my favorite places to visit.

Spent a week in the lovely saucy tuck area and LOVED coming here three different times. Incredible coffee and sweet treats. Such a sweet location in downtown Douglas, walking distance from a park for kiddos to burn off energy while parents sip coffee to level up their energy! Looking forward to coming back again!

We stayed in downtown Douglas at my uncles condo for a week, one of those days we went kayaking at running river kayaks in downtown (which was great) after the morning trip the owner said if you guys like great coffee you have to try my sisters shop, so that's what led us to respite. Nestled in downtown Douglas was this lovely little coffee shop. Baristas were friendly and quick service! We literally stoped here every morning after hearing about it so 3x. Everyday I got the iced vanilla latte which was the perfect blend of coffee taste to sweetness, not overpowering with sweetness like most other places. My wife would get the honey lavender latte which was incredible as well. The only disappointing part of this place was that we didn't try it earlier in the week to be able to enjoy it more. Definitely a must try if you are into coffee! Perfect start to the day.

Woosah Art + Coffee - Iced Banana bread latte

Woosah Art + Coffee

Inside the cafe is a gift shop filled with art, apparel, and fun local items like shirts and sweatshirts, which was fun to browse. You place your coffee order at a little window outside, at least during the fall when we visited; I am honestly not sure how it works in the winter months. When we arrived, there was a decent line of people waiting, which we took as a good sign. Clearly, this spot is popular. I had a hard time deciding what to order because everything sounded good, but I ended up choosing the Harvest Moon Latte ($6.25). It had a good mix of brown sugar and spice flavor, and I did enjoy it overall, but the espresso was slightly more bitter than I typically prefer, and the drink was not very sweet despite the brown sugar flavor. Ultimately, I am glad I ordered it hot because the whipped cream on top melted into the drink and added a bit of sweetness, which helped balance the flavor. The staff did an excellent job handling the crowd and keeping things moving smoothly, even with a lot of people waiting for drinks. Since we had a large group, we were lucky enough to grab seats at the long outdoor table with swing seats, which was such a fun and unique feature. The outdoor seating area, in general, is cool and adds to the laid-back, artsy vibe of the cafe. Overall, Woosah is a great stop for coffee with a fun atmosphere and unique setup. It is definitely worth checking out if you are in the area.

I planned to get the banana bread latte, but they were having issues with their espresso machine, unfortunately. We went for a hike up Mt Baldhead to Oval Beach and back up. Afterwords we needed coffee and bathrooms. Outside Coffee came up on our search list, highly recommended, and open! While most other coffee shops nearby were closed, Outside Coffee was open. Thank you! Furthermore, the coffee was delicious. From drip coffee to cold brew to lattes, you can't go wrong. Everything is high quality and delicious! The staff in both the coffee shop and the outdoor shop were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful. We loved perusing the outdoor shop goods while we waited for the coffee. Plus the bathrooms were clean and available. What more could you ask for? We now have a must-stop coffee shop next time we are in the area. Thank you for being available, delicious, and high quality, Outside Coffee! And see you next time!

However, this was overshadowed by the low quality of the food. I got the Caravan Chicken waffle. The chicken was extremely basic, just cheap tenders you could buy frozen at your local grocery. The waffle was a sponge, super soft and thin. Not the delicious waffle you envision when you crave one. The syrup is cheap maple flavored high fructose corn syrup. Overall I would not recommend wasting your money on this location when there is so many other amazing places around.
