I heard this was one of the best places to get breakfast on LBI, so first stop on my day trip was here to Uncle Will's for some pancakes. I met family here around 8am, and there was already a small group of people outside waiting for tables. The wait wasn't long though, maybe 10 minutes at the most for a table for five. The interior isn't large, but they make good use of the space. The main "theme" of Uncle Will's is pigs - and they are everywhere. On the menu, mugs, placemats, on the walls, on shelves - there are pigs all over the restaurant. There is even a child-size pig sitting in a chair eating pancakes that can come sit with you while dining. While the star of the menu is pancakes, they have other traditional breakfast offerings as well. I decided to go with the Marc Pigall omelette which came stuffed with ham, onions, green bell peppers, and cheddar cheese). You can choose your side, and of course I had to try their pancakes. Regular pancakes are included in the price, or you can choose a flavor for $1.50 extra. They had a lot to choose from, but I ultimately decided with Jersey blueberry (I'm a sucker for anything blueberry). The omelette was good, just the right amount of filling. The pancakes were super fresh and they didn't skimp on the blueberries which I appreciated. Service was excellent - like a well-oiled machine. Our server Pearl was awesome, always around to answer questions we had and to refresh my coffee mug. With the crowds outside, you bet they won't forget you - the menus were even at the table before we sat down. Note that this business is cash only! The positives: friendly staff (our waitress was lovely), free coffee refills. The rating for those elements would be a 4. I got a standard breakfast (eggs, corned beef hash, grits and toast). The eggs and multigrain toast were fine, though they need to use less butter on the latter and apply it when the toast is hot so that it melts. Seems pretty basic. I've had some good hash and this one absolutely did not qualify. The grits were essentially the kind you make at home with no butter at all, so bland. The hub didn't know what to get, so opted for their version of a breakfast platter, The Bunkhouse Breakfast. His eggs were fine, but the biscuit was small and dry...complete bummer for us city folk who get excited when we see biscuits on a menu and hope they are fresh/ from scratch. The French toast was the highlight, though they could make it better (French toast is not supposed to be completely dry in the middle -- soak that bread a bit before tossing it on the griddle). The pancakes were standard, thin (not thick and fluffy) which is up to personal preference. As for the meats, the bacon did not taste like bacon, so we opted not to continue down that road. We are longtime breakfast regulars (& dinner when available). Today we happened to stop by after noon while walking & were pleasantly surprised by their wonderful lunch menu. Among the many offerings are some items from their dinner menu that have been modified for lunch. Today I had the avocado stuffed with lobster salad & including a side salad. I noticed a crab cake sandwich and a lobster cake sandwich (the lobster cake dinner has been a favorite of mine.) As always, service was friendly & professional. We enjoyed sitting outside as we had our dog under the table. We highly recommend Uncle Will's for lunch- especially this year for anyone who has missed them being open for dinner. Uncle Will's Pancake House is probably my favorite restaurant on LBI! I'd visited LBI for several years and somehow never visited this place until I last visited the island in late summer 2017! LBI isn't really much of a food scene (it basically has 2 "nicer" restaurants and a bunch of small casual eateries), but Uncle Will's is absolutely fantastic! They have an awesome brunch with a very cute pig theme :) Service was great from start to finish, even considering how crowded it was for brunch! I believe we had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated - not bad at all. As for the food, it was probably one of the best brunches I've had (and certainly the best breakfast/brunch I've had in New Jersey)! The prices are reasonable, the options are varied, and the food is incredibly tasty and fresh! Between the two of us, we ordered the following: -Eastern Shore Benedict (Uncle Will's crab cake on a golden croissant with grilled asparagus, roasted red peppers, and topped with 2 poached eggs and hollandaise) -Crab Cake Sandwich with home fries Both of our entrees came with delicious roasted potato home fries! Stopped for breakfast while visiting LBI. The place was super busy on a Tuesday morning. They said a 15 minute wait but it was more like 5 minutes. The place itself is very family oriented - I think we may have been the only ones dining without children. Our server was really great - attentive and friendly. We both ordered "Build your own" omelets and I am pretty sure they arrived within five minutes of ordering. I prefer omelets that have ingredients mixed in vs just folded on top - but it was tasty nonetheless. I asked for a side of fruit vs hash browns and they were happy to accommodate. Typical of these restaurants, the experience is both social and gastronomic; the locals always find a slew of friends and neighbors, while newbies are welcomed enthusiastically. The menu here quite literally spans every choice associated with a breakfast experience, and my guess is that they'll also prepare anything that isn't listed. The Uncle Will's dining room is packed on weekend mornings, with a line stretching down the sidewalk. When we arrived as a group of eight we took our place in line two full storefronts from their door, yet were seated within fifteen minutes. Separation between tables is minimal, yet teams of waitresses and bus boys navigate through the narrow aisles at warp speed. Despite their frenetic activity, our experience was that each was personable, patient and accurate. Refilling water glasses might have been delayed a few minutes, but in this environment the delays were understandable. Both the kitchen and table service seem to function quite efficiently in a setting which would easily qualify as "being slammed" anywhere else. The food, all served in ample portions, is hearty breakfast comfort fare. I had a sausage, egg and cheese sandwich on a bagel, and enjoyed it. Others within our group sampled various omelettes, pancakes and sandwiches, without a complaint heard. Prices were quite reasonable. Typical shore breakfast spot. Everyone goes there but it's bad. Waffles were undercooked and soggy, turkey sausage was oily and not good, fruit salad was tired. I sent back the waffle and ordered eggs and toast and potatoes. Toast wasn't toasted. Service was prefunctory and just okay. I'm not going back. Love the area but Uncle Will's was a major disappointment. My eggs were runny, the rye toast wasn't toasted and the bacon was under cooked and soggy. Our waitress never checked back and only passed by when she dropped the check on our table without breaking stride. You pay at the register here and when I did the cashier asked me how everything was. It's only breakfast and more often than not I wouldn't say anything but I was generally disappointed. I responded, "To be honest I was disappointed" and explained why. She never even picked her head up to look at me and just handed my credit card back. I get it that this is a beach resort area and I wasn't expecting anything special. Very few restaurants are gonna nail it every time but the apathetic attitude I got when I answered the question I was asked was the clincher for me. We tried Uncle Will's last year and it was lackluster. Today the meal was a little better but I would not beat the door down to have another meal here. I had the shrimp and grits and it was ok. Added of LOT of salt and a LOT of cholula hot sauce for flavor and then it was decent. My husband Hans their "Hungry Man" plate and I though their French toast toast old and dry and they pancakes tasted like cardboard (not fresh at all, like reheated in the microwave). Came for breakfast. The French toast with Nutella and strawberry and banana was huge and a ton of fruit. My daughter didn't even get to the French toast. Cinnamon rolls are large. They had a nice selection of tea, but had to ask for it (was presented with standard Lipton initially). The avocado toast was disgusting. Tow pieces of supermarket bread with avocado and no seasoning. Thought it was just my avocado that tasted terrible, but so did my husbands. Didn't even finish our meals. French toast was good. Who knew this place served dinner...lights dim and the inside looks more like a fancy romantic restaurant instead of a bright pancake joint. Not sure too many people knew this place served dinner since it was not that crowded when all neighboring spots were over an hour wait on a Thursday night. The dinner menu is mostly seafood if you are into seafood with maybe one steak and one chicken dish along with salads and appetizers. The lobster ravioli here was excellent and so were the house salad with Dijon vinaigrette dressing. The pistachio crusted tuna was also delicious with a side of tasty mash potatoes and brussel sprouts. Fun!!! Uncle Will's was worth the drive down from Barnegat Light for a pre-season brunch, and the pancakes definitely did not disappoint. I had two eggs (sneak in some protein) alongside my three pancakes (carb heaven). . . Wonderful! They weren't cheap, but food here on the island seems a little pricey ($26 for two semi-basic breakfasts). I must say the service was perfect - personable and cheery - just what I like in the morning. The staff found out we were in the area for an anniversary trip, and we were surprised with a sweet muffin and candle. Very nice! The entire place is immaculate, and bathrooms couldn't be cleaner. Decor is farmhouse cozy. Music is mellow 70's, with James Taylor and Steely Dan. Lots of piggy fun!! read more

It was a bit crowded, it was a Sunday morning, we gave our name and were called within 15 minutes. Our server was terrific! I'm vegan and she happily got me almond milk for my coffee (which was good). She also pointed out a vegan breakfast option for me. It was the Irish pizza. First things first: CASH ONLY!!!! Thanks to fellow Yelp reviews, I found this out pre-breakfast and was prepared. The wait is usually quite long, especially around peak times (Sat and Sun, late mornings). However, I only ended up waiting around half an hour for a table for four at 9:00 on a Saturday, which isn't bad considering the line at Chegg a few blocks over. Uncle Will's is an LBI classic, yet it took me this long to finally try it for myself. Despite the name, I went for the french toast, which was delicious and full of cinnamon (the way I like it). The home fries are also delicious, but the rosemary was a bit overpowering. I also got to try the pancakes (they have a huge variety) and they were very good, but not fantastic. The staff was very friendly, and the decor was homey and fun with all the pig-themed paraphanalia. Overall, Uncle Will's is definitely one of the best spots on LBI for breakfast and, depending on the wait time, I'd say its worth it (if you have cash on you, that is) read more

Slightly cramped but that's what I expect at a beach pancake joint The food. Orange juice: Fresh squeezed and delicious. Pancakes: Good, not great. (I think IHOP's are much better). Uncle Will's are decent though: large portions with fresh blueberries, strawberries or bananas French toast: Fantastic. Thick, golden brown, buttery outer crust and pillowy middle. Awesome! My son, who is 90 pounds but thinks he's Adam Richman from Man vs Food, ordered the bunkhouse breakfast. Just an enormous sampler platter consisting of two eggs, two pancakes, three slices of french toast, bacon, sausage, ham and a buttermilk biscuit. Bacon was crisp, sausage was mild but not bland. We came here on a Sat morning for breakfast. There was an hour wait, but normal for this local place. First off, my coffee mug was dirty which wasn't a good start. Waitress seemed to have an attitude since we wanted a new one. We placed our orders, and the food was out in minutes which made us nervous. My French toast with apples, bananas and rum sauce was good, and the biscuits and gravy were also good which is the only reason we even gave 1 Star. The pancakes were average, bland and not even fluffy. Our waitress was in la la land since every time we said thank you, she didn't even respond. She said a whole 5 words the entire time. Also, I don't think they know about air conditioning. It was 90 degrees outside, and they cram 100 people in this small space. They only had fans running slowly. If the air was on, it wasn't to a decent temp. Cash only? They don't even let the customers know before they walk through the door. It's unmarked and was a shock when it came time to pay. Just go to Fred's diner 2 blocks down. We won't be coming back to UW's read more

When my family and walked into UW, a very nice lady asked us how many, she replied it would be a ten minute wait, and out of the corner this goat looking fellow bark "wait outside". I have to tell you, this lack of hospitality is rampant in New Jersey. Albeit you will find the exception, the reality is this state, including LBI, suffers from lack of options (every business) in turn breeding this attitude of screw you patron you're a bother. This is very much the case with UW. Speaking to customers should come across as appreciative and kind. This guy is just an ass (probably one of the owners), get him away from the customers! The rest of the staff was pretty nice. 2/5 stars The food is at best on par with whatever you can find in your grocery store frozen foods section. The pancakes, which are part of the locations name, rubbery and flat versus soft and fluffy, which indicates they are not whipping them in house and are probably pouring from some generic pre-blend (lame). Omelet.. Ehhh it was ok, same experience as the pancakes, the eggs were not mixed in house and the veges were ok. The best part of my breakfast was the sliced tomato and the water. Without a doubt a Dennie's or IHOP breakfast is significantly better, and more natural (if that's possible). 1/5 stars One should also note that this place is packed in like sardines. You will hear every detail of the night before from whomever you're sitting next to. I'm not sure how this place is passing fire code because the distance between tables is less than 20 inches. 1/5stars The Fire Marshall should show up here on a Sunday morning. This is an awesome place to eat, I love the atmosphere and the food. We have only eaten here for breakfast but the food is out of this world, there is something for everyone. We come to LBI once a year but sometimes we go to Wills twice in the week. Definitely call ahead as there is always a line but its qorth it. read more
