Pretty location with a great view, and the live music was really good! Unfortunately, we were a little disappointed that we weren't allowed to sit outside and just enjoy drinks. We were told the outdoor tables were reserved for guests who were also ordering food. When you're traveling with friends and the bar is already full, it was a bit of a turnoff knowing we would have to leave and find somewhere else where we could enjoy a few drinks and the view. The prices were pretty much what you'd expect in LBI. We actually came back the next day and were able to find a couple of seats at the bar. We chose BAB's for its location, very near the Surf Light theatre.We had a reservation so there was no hassle with security and all of the staff were friendly and welcoming. We were a party of six and were seated immediately. We order our drinks and our server was gracious and very attentive. We tried several apps, clams in butter, deviled eggs w/ crispy fried oysters, oysters on the half shell all very good. Entrees: Broiled scallops, Branzino, Jumbo Lump crab cakes, Mahi Mahi sandwich, Roasted Pork sandwich and rib eye steak. The portions were generous and all enjoyed their meals. We sat inside, close to the kitchen and pizza oven. It was a bit warm and lots of activity from the staff. Our server, Severin, was very friendly and handled our table very professionally. Gorgeous harbor views for a sunset meal with lively full bar scene and abundant beverages and cocktails. Liked the coastal vibe going on with recorded music enhancing the ambiance. Lounging areas on rooftop dining. For appetizers: Roasted Mushrooms - perfection and flavorful. Roasted Chicken Wings - well seasoned and crispy, sweet and savory at same time. Absolutely loved them. Not spicy, even our 2.5 yo enjoyed the moist chicken wing, (pulled off some of the crispy seasoning for her). Would order two next time, it was that delicious! Burrata Salad - delicious cheese with the mixed greens, great for a party appetizer. Entree: Pepperoni Pizza with 8 slices. Thin crust, everyone in our party of 5 enjoyed it. Drinks: Surfside Iced Tea & Vodka - can't go wrong with that vodka Ship Bottom Mermaid Blonde - if you like a blonde ale, this is excellent! Gone Coconuts - Coconut flavor with Lavender - refreshing cocktail Price point was as expected. Nothing outrageously expensive for location but not cheap either. We love this spot for the rooftop bar and harbor views. It's one of our favorite places to take advantage of happy hour with great drink prices and oyster specials. The bartenders are always attentive, even with a packed bar and tons of people to take care of. The clam pizza with their house chili oil is a must-order. We stopped by on a Saturday night with no reservation and although it was packed, we were seated pretty quickly. I started with the bring back the universe cocktail which was good and came with a disco ball charm, however I didn't taste much alcohol. For food, we started with the white pie which was good but not my favorite. For entree, my friend and I split the scallops and crab cakes. It was a good thing we did because the scallop entree was very tiny. It said it came with fennel but only came with potatoes and some veggies. The crab cake entree on the other hand was delicious and very filling! It was accompanied by peppers and artichokes and in a very tasty sauce. The pizza is pretty good but the sandwiches are disappointing.and the fries are way too salty. LBI is two things - kinda sleepy and with a dearth of decent food options. Went to Bird & Betty's because it's a rocking party, probably the most fun place on the island. I rarely post negative reviews, but our recent experience at Bird & Betty's was so unpleasant that I feel it should be shared. We arrived for our 8:30 PM dinner reservation during our family vacation, expecting a nice evening. When I approached the podium and told the "security" that we had a reservation, a young woman immediately looked past me, pointed at my family, and in a very rude tone began asking, "Is she 21? Is he 21? Is she 21?"--while pointing directly at my kids. Not only was this inappropriate and unprofessional, but the way it was handled was completely disrespectful. A courteous approach would have been to explain the situation to me first, rather than pointing at my children as if they were a problem. When I tried to clarify by saying, "I have a reservation for dinner," she cut me off and said, "You don't ask the questions, I do!" At no point was it explained in a respectful manner that there was a special event that night and that anyone under 21 needed to be out by 10 PM. Since our reservation was well before that, this rule was irrelevant--but the lack of basic courtesy ruined the experience before it even began. We came for dinner, not to be treated like unwelcome guests. Bird & Betty's may work for others, but based on this encounter, we won't be returning and cannot recommend it to families looking for a respectful and professional dining experience. read more

This was my first time in New Jersey, and this place absolutely blew me away. I'm currently on a music tour from Nashville and had the chance to perform here the other night. From the incredible atmosphere to the great food and drinks, everything exceeded my expectations. Do yourself a favor and order the Shipwreck, you can thank me later! Great location. However the GM Kyle is ruining the reputation of the establishment. My 30 year old daughter did not have her license so could not drink . We respect the establishment policy . However Kyle charged at the table stating "you better not be drinking". This resulted in her 2 year old to cry because he scared him. He then looked at me and said "you better be drinking that wine". We have been vacationing to LBI for 30 years of our adult lives. The experience at Bird & Betty's is by far the worst dining experiences ever on the island. Walking in the entrance and seeing the nightclub mentality of bouncers, heavy security staff everywhere, checking IDs and wrist bands was a little much. We're here for dinner. Maybe they should separate entrances for dining and nightclub. Once inside the dining area downstairs was dingy and dirty. Starting with the very compact dining area it was very hard getting to your chair because the tables were so close together. Once seated, our server was pleasant and attentive, but we were handed sticky dirty menus and flies were everywhere. We asked for a drink menu which had no pricing. After reviewing, everyone ordered a cocktail. When paying the bill, I was very disappointed to see the drink pricing was about 25 to 30% higher than the average pricing on the island. The food was horrible. We had basic burger, 2 pizzas, crab cake sandwich, crab cake entree (uneatable) , a salad with a few appetizers and a total of 7 cocktails. Our bill totaled about $440 with tip. Super over priced and just dirty. I would never recommend and would give them a negative 5 rating. Just not up to par for LBI. We will never return and most likely not entertain going to their five other affiliate restaurants, which were staple go to in the past. It's a shame what owner's greed does to an establishment. It's obviously located in a prime area and during the summer it's very crowded as seen by all of us trying to find parking spaces. And one can dine upstairs on the outdoor roof, weather permitting, or inside. There's a lot of security presence. I inquired about that and was told that there are a lot of bar fights. hmm, not a good vibe. Service was fair to midland. The orders came out very inconsistent. My friend said his order wasn't hot enough but declined to make waves cuz he was famished. My order took a half hour and it was just a salad. Food is ok. The kitchen needs to be more organized.
