On a day I wanted pizza, I came across Uncle Tony's. I think they are related to the nearby Italian restaurant Fumo's as they had some of their pizza boxes in the shop. I was looking forward to that since it's a sign they make other food well enough to open another shop. When I was ready to order, they were out of the Grandma Slice. But they did say it was a few more minutes until a fresh one was ready so I order a buffalo slice, grandma slice, and a ginger ale. I picked up the ready made slice and drink and was told they'll call me for the last one since I was eating in. The grandma slice gets made and they just didn't call me, I finished my starting order and then asked about it. The person by the register simply forgot which happens. They then gave me my last slice. As for the pizza, they make thin crust pizza like a New York style. It was good and flavorful. Personally, I enjoy my pizza to have more sauce under the cheese or when I'm in NYC I often want a greasy or oily pizza from a small shop which they didn't do here. I don't really have complaints about Uncle Tony's, just wasn't really my preference of pizza style. I can see others really liking it though read more

Seriously the best pizza I have tasted uptown. My 7 year old who doesn't really like pizza devoured the plain slice completely. The pizza is thin and it taste sooo good and the crust is puffy but crispy. Def worth the stop. It's 3.50 for a slice and a little more if you get a specialty slice but it's worth it. A quick search on the Happy Cow app revealed Uncle Tony's and its vegan pies! We decided to swing by and grab a couple slices. The service was reasonably friendly and super quick. The vegan slice was delicious! The crust had just the right amount of crispness on the bottom and was topped with plentiful tomato sauce, vegan cheese, and generous dollops of basil pesto. Uncle Tony's has grown on me, partly because of their weekend pizza slice special. I am there almost every weekend to get a variety of pizza slices. Bosco is my favorite, bakers is popular, even their vegan slice is pretty good. When it was warmer they started serving gelato which was a great idea, the chocolate was amazing. I think they may have taken note that the pizza needed more sauce because it has definitely improved over the last couple years. read more

Wowza. This pizza is now my favorite. A true New York style pizza with a schmear of sauce, real mozzarella cheese with a milky melt and slightly spicy pepperoni that crisps up and a crust that bends and folds upon manipulation. If pepperoni isn't your thing, the plain cheese slice is far from plain. They also have a lovely kalamata olive pie but overall all of the ingredients have been fresh and full of flavor. (I'm hesitant on ordering the mushroom pie but I'm hopeful that when I do, the mushrooms will also be fresh.) The place is super clean and the staff is friendly. Not too many options on beverages and other fare but they are sticking to what they do best. No complaints from me. Definitely a welcome addition and revommended. read more

Very mediocre, not really worth 10$ for 2 slices of pizza. If you're around the area and you reallly want to get some pizza, then I would say to go for the buffalo chicken slice. I ordered a gramma scicilian for delivery and my fiancé noticed a funny smell. I lifted the cheese and there was this greyish brown stuff all over the dough. I wasn't totally sure it was mold because honestly, as a life long New Yorker I've never experienced something like this. 20 minutes later it turns brown/black. I tried their vegan pizza and it tastes good...not spectacular or anything. The only thing I didn't like was the texture of the cheese, it just felt a bit off. There has been way better vegan cheese introduced over the past few years, so I think they should try using a new cheese. It would elevate the pizza. I can't help, but compare Uncle Tony's Grandma slice to Prince Street Pizza in SoHo and Grandma doesn't come close. Uncle Tony's Grandma slice is really salty. It's great if you're craving something that tastes like you're licking a Himalayan salt lamp, but sometimes it's so salty it's borderline inedible. Since Tony's is just over a mile from us, we only get over there when we happen to be in our car. But so far, we've found it to be the best place nearby (central Harlem) to get a good slice. The cheese is ample and respectfully greasy, the crust is thin but not floppy, and the sauce is just right: covers the slice but doesn't gush and tastes like it's actually been cooked. We always get pepperoni slices (or a pie) and a couple of grandma slices, also with pepperoni. Always hits the spot. Firstly the pizza is good. Im giving a poor review because they need to practice better recycling. I had lunch there today and the place was packed with students eating their pizza out of cardboard boxes. Unfortunately the public is not well educated on proper recycling so it's up to you as an establishment to make sure you're not wasting as much as you are. There's no reason a kid should be served a singular slice of pizza in a box. Especially if they're not even taking it to go... in addition to that people are throwing garbage away in the recycling bin because there's not enough labeling and differentiation between the garbage and recycling bins.
