However, the abundance of cheese does make Broadway Slice a greasy one, so you'll probably want to dab it with a napkin to remove the excess oil. The cheese was fairly salty and very gooey; there's no need to order extra cheese from these guys. The crust was very tasty and had a nice crunch to it. The sauce was on the tangier side which is how I personally like it. I ordered delivery and it arrived pretty quickly and still hot. These guys are great! I just moved into the neighborhood, and I was nervous to try a new pizza place so soon. Thankfully I did. I love more of a thin crust pizza, and that's just how they make em'; the sauce to cheese ratio is also good. My Italian friend approved as well; she's super picky about her pizza. Haha. It's not that I don't love chain fast food joints or the one diner that is close to NYP, it's just that...welllllll...how do I put this.....they all kind of suck/are super generic. Like no offense Sabaro or Famiglia, but your pizza is pretty lame. Broadway slice is very much the polar opposite. Small business, real pizza, and fair prices. Oh, and the slices are enormous, especially when you consider a plain cheese is 3$, or 3.50$ for a topping. I honestly wouldn't recommend more than two slices unless your ravenous (we split three when we come now). The space is small but cozy, and they play pretty great music while you eat in. I also like how the delivery guys have their own door so they don't slow the line of foot traffic from getting to the counter. I've never been to Broadway Slice before, but was in the neighborhood and looking for a place to grab a quick bite for lunch. I should have stuck to pizza as their slices looked good, but I was hungry and in the mood for a chicken parm. Any good pizza should make a good parm, so I wasn't afraid, but what I got was nearly inedible.. Number one, the sauce was horrid. Literally no taste at all to it. Secondly, the hero itself was wet and soggy. Yes, when you put sauce on the hero you'll expect a small amount of sogginess, but this was ridiculous. Finally the chicken was tasteless. Literally just a slab of microwaved chicken thrown in a sub with canned sauce on top and some melted cheese. I ate it because I was starving, and because I paid $13 for it. We have grabbed a slice at least once a week since broadway slice has opened. I really like that it is not a chain of crappy, toaster oven type slices. The space is pretty small but there are a handful of stools if you are able to snag a space. The guys are friendly. The slices are HUGE. I always ask for my slice to be left in for a longer time to crisp it up more (I request this at almost all places). My go-to order is the rectangular grandma slice with chunky sauce and cheese. Great Pizza for Washington Heights. I walked in after seeing all of the new "open" signs and ordered a cheese slice. Different slice combinations and calzones were ready for me to select from. There is a small amount of bar-top seating or they will pack it up for you to take out. Pizza had a nice crisp to the bottom of it and softness to the dough once you take a bite. Worst pizza experience I've had in NYC. Let me set the scene: mid-afternoon on a Saturday. I walk in and am the only customer. I order a Sicilian slice and a regular slice from an employee manning the oven. I wait about 10 minutes, all the while wondering why it's taking so long to heat two slices for the one and only customer this place has. The cashier suddenly asks "something I can get you?" as though he just now noticed my existence, even though I've been the only customer in the place this whole time. I explain that I've been waiting on an order. Cashier then proceeds to charge me for 3 slices. I explain that I only ordered two. Cashier then consults with oven-man, as though this is a major stock transaction. Oven-man retrieves a box with my slices, which I now realize has just been sitting out for what has easily been half the time I've been waiting, however, oven-man clearly did not alert me or cashier as to its presence. At this point I've been here for over 15 mins. Oven-man puts my two slices back into the oven because they are now cold. Finally, after close to 20 mins of waiting for two slices at a place where I'm the only customer (still!) I get my food and leave. Ill agree its better than 90% of the pizza places in the Heights, but that's not saying much considering most are either super cheap greasy ingredients at inflated prices or just ridiculously expensive.
