Slightly different veggie mix, also plenty of large shrimp, and a little less saucy with a black bean flavored (and less spicy) sauce. Probably the best and most authentic Chinese food in Fairfield county (even though General Tso's was created for the American palate). Portions were big and service was good. What some might consider 'burnt rice', it is actually a cooking technique to bring out the flavor of rice by 'roasting' it in the wok while using less oil in the cooking process. Went in with high expectations and was disappointed. We went in for lunch on a weekday. The first three items that we tried to order from the menu were unavailable. We tried to order the half duck and were told that we can only order full duck on weekdays (not stated on the menu). We ended up ordering the duck buns. Although the bun was springy and light, there was no actual duck in the first bun that I bit into. There was only some caramelized onion and a dime sized piece of fat that may have come from a duck. Both of us were disappointed. The Hot and Sour Soup was bland, it had almost no sour (vinegar) to it, and absolutely no flavor. It was a weak broth with some ingredients. The Chicken and Broccoli - the broccoli was fresh and the chicken was tender, but again, the dish completely lacked any flavors. Spicy Garlic Black Bean, no spice at all, little garlic flavor and not even a lot of black bean sauce. Even the dumpling sauce was bland. All in all, a very disappointing meal, and not cheap - we are disowning this Uncle. read more

Visited here yesterday for lunch. Had the schezwan pepper veggies and tofu. Excellent! Came with a scoop of rice. Portion size was just right. They can seat probably 30 or so people here and the place was pretty crowded. There's also many tables just outside the restaurant in the mall, so you could get food to go and eat in the mall as well. The only negative was our server seemed new and it took awhile to get served and then the bill when we were done. Waited 10mins for her to pick up my payment, I ended up going up to the cash register to pay. Caulk this up to the new waitress and a new restaurant, so giving them a pass for now. We both ordered the rice clay pots (eel and pork belly). They have the $20 deal that included a soup and a drink. The rice clay pots were so fresh and delicious. My husband loves jasmine rice and they made it just perfect! We also met the chef and owner, Jing. They were very nice and sweet, offered us a complimentary mango dessert which was 100% homemade! I ordered the "Sesame Crusted Salmon" and my fiancé ordered the "Wok Ginger Chicken" and we were blown away by the presentation and flavor of our meal. Wok glazed chicken The Glazed Chicken dish was savory and sweet at the same time. presentation was excellent. Vegetables were cooked well snow peas still have a crush to them after being cooked which is a good sign The rice that came along with the dish as a perfect amount of stickiness that you would like to see you Asian style sticky rice So to my fiancé who does not like cooked peppers the peppers in her dish. When peppers are cooked they become soft and mushy but these peppers have the perfect amount of crunch and flavor to them that it doesn't draw away from the vegetable itself Sesame Crusted Salmon This dish like the last has perfected the style of cooking their vegetables where they are nicely cooked and still have a nice crunch on every bite. The flavor of the sauce with the salmon is delicious I kept going for more and more until I was done and I almost ordered a second serving. I've been a chef for almost 2 years now and I have to say that the salmon was cooked to perfection. This is probably the best place to eat in the Sono Collection. This is a fairly new restaurant so I'll be kind with my review. The food is so delicious! My husband and I split the Peking duck dumplings which were really good. The downside is the menu says it comes with 8 wontons. Apparently that's only for lunch and dinner only comes with 6 dumplings. Either way, would definitely order again. My husband had the General Tso's chicken which was crispy and spicy and yummy, but the sauce was very sticky. I had the Japanese Coconut Curry in the clay pot. It was so warm and made me feel good. I would definitely order this again. Not spicy, fresh veggies, a nice surprise of the taro root in there. Both dishes came with a small side of white rice which was undercooked and kind of cold, but that's irrelevant when you pour the hot broth over it from the dish. As far as drinks go, I had a Passionfruit Mojito which was nice and tart. My husband had the Mule which tasted like every other Mule out there. The service- slow, nice but slow and disorganized. We're here on a Saturday and besides the fact that there's no one to bus the tables, the hostess or owner was so overwhelmed, she kept walking around in circles. There seemed to be two servers for the entire (full) restaurant. We placed our orders and after 20 minutes, never even got our drinks. As we sat there, it was obvious that all the tables around us were having issues. One table of four were told after a half hour there food wasn't available, one guy had been waiting for 20 min for just a glass of ice and sauce, and the two ladies beside us never got their entrees after 40 min.
