I was craving spicy vegetables and couldn't decide which of two dishes on the menu I would like more, so I ordered both. The Sichuan pepper sauce with shrimp was my favorite. Great flavor, lots of veggies and plenty of large shrimp. The garlic black bean sauce with shrimp was also good. Slightly different veggie mix, also plenty of large shrimp, and a little less saucy with a black bean flavored (and less spicy) sauce. Based just on this, I look forward to trying other dishes here. read more

Came here with a group of friends checking out the new mall and made a stop here for lunch. It was amazing! Delicious food and great ambiance. Service was also very good. Highly recommend getting the wonton soup! Perfect for a cold day out. The saucy noodles with five spice short rib was also a favorite. read more

Back again to review this place because I seriously love the food here! This spot is hidden in the mall at SONO. They need more recognition. The man who always works there serving must be an owner or manager but his service Is always on point. He's always so kind and quick. He loves to make sure his customers are happy. We tried different things this time around and we still feel the same about this place. WE LOVE IT!! Honestly you can't go wrong with anything you try from this spot. Their food is so delicious and fresh. I never feel disgusting after eating here and most Chinese food places will make you feel that way but not uncle sevens! Will be back soon! read more

So dissapointed with this place and the service. We ordered food and drinks and waited about 30 minutes. None of them arrive, and when complained, the manager was speechless and barely apologize. What is upsetting is the lack of customer service. Never coming back! read more

I decided to hold off on leaving a review twice trying to give them a second and third chance but they have defiantly lost their touch. I ordered beef with broccoli and my chicken was RAW! Coming from a place i like so much is disappointing! I went back no apologies given and i can say i was thankfully given a return. But i paid with Apple Pay and he made me run out and get my card(if you pay Apple Pay they don't refund without the physical card) I'm on lunch and have NO time to run back and forth but he made me, either that or they give me a new batch of raw chicken. Needless to say time and time again regardless of what others have said I gave them more than enough opportunities to make it right. However I join the crew in saying this place is not the same, and not in a good way. Sad to write but they use to be really good! read more

I just love this magical place that I can't believe that's located in the SONO collections. The food is amazing and the service impeccable... just absolutely rare find ! read more

Probably the best and most authentic Chinese food in Fairfield county (even though General Tso's was created for the American palate). Portions were big and service was good. What some might consider 'burnt rice', it is actually a cooking technique to bring out the flavor of rice by 'roasting' it in the wok while using less oil in the cooking process. We shall return! read more

Uncle Seven - Chinese Near Me - Norwalk, Connecticut

After reading the reviews and seeing the pedigree from which Uncle Seven in Norwalk came from my girlfriend and I decided to get take out dinner from Uncle Seven in the Sono mall in Norwalk. Both of us were disappointed. The Hot and Sour Soup was bland, it had almost no sour (vinegar) to it, and absolutely no flavor. It was a weak broth with some ingredients. The Chicken and Broccoli - the broccoli was fresh and the chicken was tender, but again, the dish completely lacked any flavors. Spicy Garlic Black Bean, no spice at all, little garlic flavor and not even a lot of black bean sauce. Even the dumpling sauce was bland. All in all, a very disappointing meal, and not cheap - we are disowning this Uncle. read more

I've only ever had takeout but it's so good! I like the salmon and vegetables. The general tso tofu is really good. The tofu is nice and crispy. The wonton soup is also great. read more

Went in with high expectations and was disappointed. We went in for lunch on a weekday. The first three items that we tried to order from the menu were unavailable. We tried to order the half duck and were told that we can only order full duck on weekdays (not stated on the menu). We ended up ordering the duck buns. Although the bun was springy and light, there was no actual duck in the first bun that I bit into. There was only some caramelized onion and a dime sized piece of fat that may have come from a duck. I passed along the feedback and they did not offer to remove it from our bill. I guess I won't be coming here again. read more

Love the hot and sour soup. The angus beef with broccoli and garlic sauce is incredible. Also the angus beef with pepper sauce is great. Love the Chong's salad with grilled chicken breast. The chicken is flame grilled and awesome. The staff makes me feel like I'm home. They are kind and go above and beyond. Best and most authentic Chinese I've had in CT. read more

Super good fusion Chinese food. Black owned. I really loved the short rib 5 slice noodles. I like that their menu has a lot of non traditional Chinese food dishes with a twist. Meat is always very tender seasoned and never over cooked. Fairly priced for the large portions, that can easily last two or three meals! Giving four stars because location is on top of the sono mall which is a bit annoying to get to. But would order again and again! read more

If you're looking for authentic Chinese food with a modern feel, then this is the place for you! I came here during the restaurant's opening week and was surprised at how coordinated the staff was with regards seating quickly, getting our orders and overall environment and food quality. I ended up getting the coconut curry chicken for lunch and it did not disappoint! My friends got some of the noodle dishes and I'll definitely be coming back to try those next time. I would recommend this spot for a nice lunch or dinner after a tiring day of shopping around the mall. Just come in and let Uncle Seven handle the rest. read more

A nice little surprise in Norwalk shopping mall. Foods were good, Peking duck dumplings were delicious. Try their clay pots. Short ribs were done right, Japanese eel very authentic. We were hoping for more vegetables and maybe lesser rice though. Service was on the slow side but overall very friendly. read more

Visited here yesterday for lunch. Had the schezwan pepper veggies and tofu. Excellent! Came with a scoop of rice. Portion size was just right. They can seat probably 30 or so people here and the place was pretty crowded. There's also many tables just outside the restaurant in the mall, so you could get food to go and eat in the mall as well. The only negative was our server seemed new and it took awhile to get served and then the bill when we were done. Waited 10mins for her to pick up my payment, I ended up going up to the cash register to pay. Caulk this up to the new waitress and a new restaurant, so giving them a pass for now. I'll be back, so hopefully they fix the service part soon. read more

Easily the best Chinese food I've ever had. I would go back everyday if I was from the area.

Absolutely amazing! I got the black bean shrimp and calamari and it was served to me hot and steamy. They pour the sauce on top as it's served to you. My boyfriend got the dumplings and lo mien. He said they were some of the best dumplings he's ever had (and he is a dumpling expert). It was far from where we are located but would 100% do the drive just to go here again. read more

Quality affordable Chinese food. Ordered on ubereats and enjoyed everything! Got the duck dumplings, Szechuan dumplings and scallion pancakes to start. Then chicken and broccoli with rice and the pork belly noodles. Large portions and easily enough for 2 ppl for 2 meals. Would order again! read more

My husband and I were looking for some authentic Chinese food in our hood and spotted Uncle Seven from Yelp. It is located inside the SoNo Collection Mall. We both ordered the rice clay pots (eel and pork belly). They have the $20 deal that included a soup and a drink. The rice clay pots were so fresh and delicious. My husband loves jasmine rice and they made it just perfect! We also met the chef and owner, Jing. They were very nice and sweet, offered us a complimentary mango dessert which was 100% homemade! You gotta try this place if you like Chinese, especially Cantonese food. The whole dining experience made me nostalgic of my hometown! read more

Had a friend group of 5 or so checking out the new mall and we stumbled across this place. It was packed but service was quick so we got seated in 5 minutes. The noodle dishes were amazing and the best part of the menu. I had ribs and egg noodles which were savory and quite saucy. Fried dumplings were well-cooked and had a nice crunch to the skin and I love that. Atmosphere-wise, it's a unique blend of modern design, plant life, and Chinese authenticity. Overall, I definitely recommend this place, especially if you're at the mall or looking for Chinese cuisine. read more

So far I've only had the 5 spice short ribs & they were amazing!!!! I can't wait to try some other items on the menu.

The restaurant is really clean. Everyone was respectful and wore masks, even the employees in the kitchen. The general tso's chicken is so good. My boyfriend ordered the saucy noodles with short rib, which he really enjoyed. My "lunch box" came with a wonton soup and drink for $12. I'll be back to try some of the other dishes! read more

Walking into Uncle Sevens is like stepping into a whole new world. The traditional music and layout of the decor really speaks wonders to this new Chinese restaurant. You better believe that this isn't just your ordinary family Chinese spot on the corner. Uncle Seven brings a new light to cuisine in the Sono Collection. With rival eateries around them I think they stand pretty tall when it comes to quality of food and sitting and serving times. Me and my fiancé stepped in at around 7:00pm and we were immediately seated and waited on. I ordered the "Sesame Crusted Salmon" and my fiancé ordered the "Wok Ginger Chicken" and we were blown away by the presentation and flavor of our meal. Wok glazed chicken The Glazed Chicken dish was savory and sweet at the same time. presentation was excellent. Vegetables were cooked well snow peas still have a crush to them after being cooked which is a good sign The rice that came along with the dish as a perfect amount of stickiness that you would like to see you Asian style sticky rice So to my fiancé who does not like cooked peppers the peppers in her dish. When peppers are cooked they become soft and mushy but these peppers have the perfect amount of crunch and flavor to them that it doesn't draw away from the vegetable itself Sesame Crusted Salmon This dish like the last has perfected the style of cooking their vegetables where they are nicely cooked and still have a nice crunch on every bite. The flavor of the sauce with the salmon is delicious I kept going for more and more until I was done and I almost ordered a second serving. I've been a chef for almost 2 years now and I have to say that the salmon was cooked to perfection. This is probably the best place to eat in the Sono Collection. I'd recommend anyone who loves Asian cuisine to try Uncle Seven for themselves. You will not be disappointed read more

Probably the best lunch I have had in a while. Inexpensive, but delicious. Looked clean and people were great

This is a fairly new restaurant so I'll be kind with my review. The food is so delicious! My husband and I split the Peking duck dumplings which were really good. The downside is the menu says it comes with 8 wontons. Apparently that's only for lunch and dinner only comes with 6 dumplings. Either way, would definitely order again. My husband had the General Tso's chicken which was crispy and spicy and yummy, but the sauce was very sticky. I had the Japanese Coconut Curry in the clay pot. It was so warm and made me feel good. I would definitely order this again. Not spicy, fresh veggies, a nice surprise of the taro root in there. Both dishes came with a small side of white rice which was undercooked and kind of cold, but that's irrelevant when you pour the hot broth over it from the dish. As far as drinks go, I had a Passionfruit Mojito which was nice and tart. My husband had the Mule which tasted like every other Mule out there. The service- slow, nice but slow and disorganized. I know this place is new, but maybe practice during off hours. Either way, we'll be back. read more

Excellent service. Terrific food..we had the hot and sour soup, the sesame chicken and a salmon salad. The chicken was light and very tasty..not the standard you get at a typical chinese restaurant. The bbq roasted pork is outstanding. The food is expertly prepared by a Hong Kong chef. The hosts and wait staff are friendly and helpful.

Oh wow. This place is a complete and utter DISASTER. We're here on a Saturday and besides the fact that there's no one to bus the tables, the hostess or owner was so overwhelmed, she kept walking around in circles. There seemed to be two servers for the entire (full) restaurant. We placed our orders and after 20 minutes, never even got our drinks. As we sat there, it was obvious that all the tables around us were having issues. One table of four were told after a half hour there food wasn't available, one guy had been waiting for 20 min for just a glass of ice and sauce, and the two ladies beside us never got their entrees after 40 min. They gave up and just put down a 20 for their dumplings and drinks and left. At that point we had a bad feeling and just left. DO NOT even consider sitting foot in this place. Whoa. read more
