Saw this place on the third floor of the SONO Collection and decided to try it. It was actually really good! My mom ordered the beef and broccoli and I had the sesame chicken. Both were excellent. Large portions, great service, nice ambiance. Everything tasted very fresh and had great flavor. Give it a try after some shopping in SONO. You won't regret it.

I'm always looking for a good authentic Chinese place and this was just OK. The restaurant itself is really nicely done as are all the eateries at the Sono. The menu is very small, and there were a few things they didn't have available in addition to the small menu, which was frustrating but not a total deal breaker. The apps were ok. My daughter and I were really jonesing for some dumplings and theirs were nothing great. I would recommend skipping the Peking Duck buns - the dough was too thick and there was hardly any duck inside. The lo mein had nice sized pieces of chicken and baby bok Choi which was a nice surprise, but the sauce was way too salty (too much soy sauce) and also too heavy on the garlic. The short rib clay pot was pretty good, fresh veggies and the meat were perfect but the rice was burnt on the bottom and there wasn't enough of it so we were eating crunchy rice with the rest of the dish. Unfortunately another Chinese spot crossed off the list, while my search continues...

It is rare to find a southeast Asian influenced Asian fusion place in the middle of the Fairfield county right at Norwalk! Set in a very spacious and high rise setting, the decor is fairly upscale, though the ambience could be improved if not for the fact the mall closes early in the evenings. The SONO mall hardly offers any other comparable sit down dining choices. The menu items are quite selective and refined. Food is very dense and rich with sauce reduction so the portion is even more generous than it seems. Clay pot dishes are unique and hearty. Downside: the place could be short staffed at times and I've seen patrons walk out after not being served with any drink or water after being seated for a while. Staff members are genuine and nice but some not so professional.

We've been to this Chinese restaurant several times and each time their menu and dishes continue to amaze us. Although the restaurant is actually inside the Norwalk Sono Mall top floor, once inside, you'd think you were in a Soho Manhattan restaurant. They recently added a cocktails menu so even better. Cocktails were superb. The food was absolutely delicious and it's presentation was outstanding. Prices were reasonable, excellent portions and their service was incredible. Our waiter Angel was very personable, courteous and attentive. What more could you ask for right! We definitely recommend! Our go-to Chinese restaurant.

There I was in the SoNo mall having a lovely family outing and my fiance spots Uncle Seven. Nothing gets my bones jumping like some fancy Asian cuisine and let me tell you, if I could've made love to this food. I would've. Service was top notch and son at the front was so kind. Now back to the food. The Mrs started off with some coconut shrimp with a side of sweet tangy sauce. Shrimp was so GAS we forgot to take pics. I the wings, fried to perfection, bathed in a honey chili sauce, scallion and sesame seeds layed on top ever so gently. For our main we each got a lunch bento box, general tsos dark meat for the Mrs, and the sesame chicken white me for. The best sesame chicken I've ever had, the fry was PERFECT, juicy white meat, and the sauce had me ready to ask for it in a cup to drink!! My ONLY regret was not getting a bigger portion. I live in Westchester, NY and will be going back for that bigger portion! GO THERE NOW!!!

This isn't the best Chinese restaurant out there. My preference is Hong Kong Chinese food, and I usually compare my experiences to the food I've tried in Hong Kong. IMHO, this restaurant isn't authentic Chinese food. It's more Chinese -American, so if you're looking for that, this place elevates it a bit and might be someThing worth trying for you. That said, this is my opinion of the place: The pork siomai is called "dimsum" on their menu and when it arrived was red, split up, and looked dry. There was one piece of siomai that looked cooked - it was weird how they were all the same dumpling, but didn't look anything alike. On the poster at the front of the store, the images of the siomai looked good w a piece of shrimp on top. When it actually gets to you there is no shrimp. And our waiter didn't seem to know anything about what was on the menu. It was frustrating, but eventually another waiter came along, and was able to explain things better. The lo mein was ok. It had a very strong soy sauce flavor -- like, that's all they put in it. I guess it works. But I don't plan to order it again. The fried rice was ok too. Nothing special. I wouldn't order it again. Not for $17 anyway. The sesame chicken was good. A bit sweet but I appreciate that all the pieces were white meat / breast meat. It's a big portion, and is good for "family style" even though the waiter (the first one who didn't know anything) said all portions were single servings and not servings for "family style" -- why is this waiter so oblivious to Chinese food? I saw the Peking duck in the menu and it was a bit too expensive. $89 for a Peking duck -- and the way they did the dimsum (or siomai), I didn't feel like I could trust their Peking duck. Will I come back to this restaurant? Probably not. Not at all worth the high price tag either. Customer service was nice. The knowledgeable waiter acknowledged that the siomai didn't look right. We cancelled the order and they were ok w that.

This is the best tofu I have ever had in connecticut and it's not even close. Location is clean and looks great, and the food is just as good even when delivered. How this place isn't packed at all hours of every day is a mystery to me.

Awesome Chinese restaurant in Norwalk area. Super lovely atmosphere/decoration and attentive staff. I really loved the kung pao chicken however I wish it was a bit spicier. The sesame chicken was also very delicious. Also, must add that it is very reasonably priced ($$). Will certainly be back!

3.5 stars for food but 4 stars for service! They were really nice - they reopened for dine in so we stopped by to try while hubby got a haircut. They were super nice with my son! We ordered: - pork dumplings - short rib noodles - pork belly clay pot rice It was all very tasty! A bit oily but full of flavour. The short rib is very tender and soft. Pork belly was a bit fatty but hey, it's pork belly. But very very tasty. They were also very busy with takeout orders.

Uncle Seven is one of the best Chinese Food places I have been to. Second only to M.Y. China in San Francisco. A lot of the Chinese food places by me that I have been to use a ton of oil and after I eat it I feel sluggish and sick, there are great flavors to be had but there is just too much oil to get to. Not the case with Uncle Seven! I ordered the Kong Pao Chicken with white rice, my business associate ordered the Wok Ginger Glaze and we shared a plate of Vegetable Lo Mein. As soon as the food came out and I smelled it, I was already sold. Our dishes were flavorful, perfectly seasoned and with just the right amount of oil. My Kong Pao chicken has the perfect amount of spice so that it warmed you up and gave a kick but allowed you to taste and savor every flavor. Everything was so fresh, the vegetables had that wonderful soft crispness you expect in a good Chinese food dish. After eating our meals we finished off with a mango mousse which was light and fresh, the perfect way to finish a great meal! 5/5

This year for my 35th, I was on my own for dinner this time around. That being said, I think I found a winner here to celebrate my 35th birthday. Say hello to Lazy Sister, located in the heart of South Norwalk where the restaurant scene comes alive! Because I was a single coming in, I was seated right away, no reservation needed. They were even kind enough to place my bag in the atrium so that I wouldn't have it in the way. I was seated at a table set for two, but it's a good thing I guess that I came on my own. First thing I notice upon coming in is that it is a very classy restaurant, not your typical dim sum joint. It's also not a big space, but that's fine by me. Honestly, this would make a great date night spot for anyone going out on a date. Funny enough, I was actually suggested this place by my friend the night I went to Jacob's Pickles. For reasons I am about to get to, I am glad I decided not to come here until a later date. So why would I say that? Well, because tonight, my order consisted of two Junmai Genshu "Little Sumo" sakes as well as the Salt & Pepper Calamari, a medium level Dry Fry Style Szechuan Chicken, and then the Fortune Cookie Soft Serve for dessert. Not only did I pay more here, but I also got more inebriated here than I did at Jacob's Pickles. But it's my birthday, so tonight it's not in my contract to care. You only live once, and I am already in like the middle of my life, so it all evens out, right? Speaking of the food, everything I ate was immaculate! The calamari was seasoned perfectly, vegetables were cooked and crisp, the spice from that Szechuan didn't overpower. It was more like a pleasant tingle, especially when mixed with water or sake. Everything was done just right. And that soft serve cooled me down in just the right way. Delicious and well worth finishing off the night! And while there were other drinks that definitely looked good, I couldn't say no to sake. That's like THE ultimate celebratory drink far as I'm concerned, and it was awesome! If you were wondering about the service, these people are quite friendly. They help you through anything you might need. While I waited a while to tell them, I did eventually tell my waitress it was birthday while I was on dessert. Cool enough, we are both Tauri! I love it when I get to talk to another Taurus! :) The bill was also why I am glad I waited for another occasion to come here. Because I decided to splurge, the affair was about $100 once tip was factored in. It was well worth it, and tonight's outing will definitely make for a fun story to tell. But 34 was a hard year. I deserve to let loose every now and then, and hopefully 35 will be a happier age. All in all, a great restaurant and well worth the money to come here.

The bartender was knowledgeable and I trusted him with recommendations. We ordered egg rolls and the wontons in chili oil. Everything was tasty, wish the chili oil was more spicy but the flavor was amazing. Day two I sat at a table and ordered the cherry cola, veggie lo mien, and crispy beef. My friends ordered the spring rolls, sesame chicken, and chicken and broccoli. The server accidentally put in a plain lo mien but it was quickly fixed. Both were tasty but it was better with veggies. All entrees were okay. It's your typical local American Chinese food cuisine and I didn't taste or see any difference to it? It did taste a bit more fresh but I wouldn't order again. Overall, the service was good and the ambiance is nice. I prefer this place as a restaurant for yummy drinks and apps before dinner or after work.

I had thought about Mainport which I don't mind but don't exactly think is the best thing since sliced bread, but for some reason I decided tonight would be the night I go for some Chinese. I haven't been to one in Norwalk ever since Great Wall closed down. If I had known what I was getting myself into, I would have just kept walking. So immediately when I went in, there was already a lot of people inside. It was hard to tell who was in line in this hole in the wall. They do have menus outside the door you can take to make your decision which helped, but it still took me 5-10 minutes before I realized I could just go ahead and order since, again, I didn't know who was in line. Oh, a little tidbit. If you coming in looking for buffalo sauce, please look elsewhere! I kid you not, a couple of girls who came in after I did actually asked if they had buffalo sauce. Yes. That question literally came out of their mouths, and made its way to my ears while I was waiting for my food. Oh, and speaking of waiting, I had a 20-minute wait after I finally ordered. It's not as long as some other reviews, but it was just enough to make me miss my train. Yeah. That's why I wouldn't have come here if I had known. I will also mention that the barber who did my hair tonight actually also came here while I was waiting. Make of that what you will. For my order, I had the General Tso's Chicken (S1) and the "Crabmeat Cheese Fried Wonton"... To quote Avril, "Why'd you have to go and make things so complicated"? Just call it a Crab Rangoon already! That's what every other Chinese Food joint calls it. It comes with rice and red sauce. Yeah... Let's start with the red sauce because I have a bone with that. When I opened my bag and saw how much I was given, that level of sauce was so low I just had to laugh. The container it was in wasn't even filled halfway with the stuff. And yet, the Rangoons themselves did such a poor job of mopping the sauce that I couldn't finish the sauce. That's not to mention that the red sauce when I did taste it was WAY too salty. Seriously, did the recipe call for a salt lick to be added in? It tasted like I was eating saltwater. As for the Rangoon itself, the flavor was okay, but nothing to write home. Honestly, I could say the same things for both the rice and the General Tso's Chicken, but I will add that the breading was so soggy that the chicken actually fell out as I was trying to eat it. I will say in its favor though that the price isn't terrible, and the service from the staff is fine. That is enough to keep it from a one star, but even though I would like to give it a two-and-a-half, I can't give this a three.

Rather Great Wall Chinese is a restaurant commuters can grab in a pinch, so given that niche it does well enough for me to come back a few times. It's not getting a 1 or a 5, let's be clear. Now, if the interior alone was what I was grading, then WOULD be a 1! 2 of its windows are cracked, 1 of which makes up a huge chunk of the door. The crack that is NOT on the door is huge! Like, GET THOSE WINDOWS REPLACED! The floors and walls look like they should probably be cleaned as well. Another complaint is that, right now, it's not really safe to walk to the restaurant if you're coming from the station. You got construction going on next door, so the sidewalk is fenced off next to it, leaving you vulnerable to oncoming traffic. But like I said, this place isn't getting a 1 from me overall! That's because of the food itself! Now, I can't say this is an all-encompassing review because it's not, and not all of their food is phenomenal, but nothing I have ever had from them was bad. I've had their Boneless Ribs, General Tso's Chicken, and now their fried shrimp. I've also had both fries and rice in my orders. The Ribs are about par with what a normal Chinese Food joint offers, which is to say they're very much edible and might I say decent for what they are. The fries are okay, but you do need salt and pepper to really get the most out of them. And then they do General Tso's quite well! Rice is actually a good side, so do have the white rice if or when you order from here. Tonight's fried shrimp was actually pretty good too. No complaints here other than they should probably offer more tartar sauce. Where this place really shines are their portion sizes! They give you a generous portion of food every time you order, or at least they did for me. That's why it does well in the "dinner in a pinch" department. You also have plenty of options that are under $10 in prices, which the fried shrimp with fries is one of those at $9. Prices on the higher end can get to about $14.50, which still isn't bad. All in all, it's very affordable and does give you bang for your buck. I've debated whether I should give this a 3 or a 4, but the unsafe pathway from the station is one thing I really cannot ignore. So 3 it is.
