This is the BEST place around! We were referred here as we're moving to the area and they were not wrong! Two nights in a row and SABRINA + KIMBERLY were the most amazing and attentive bartenders! Our food was out of this world!! Wings, green beans, shrimp salad and YOU HAVE to try the BEEF tips! Drinks on point! The special lemon drop martini is to DROOL for! And-the customers are so friendly, kind and a great time all around! 5 stars x 10!!!!! Our new favorite spot!!!!! "Cheers!!" = just waiting for NORM! Ha ha

My mom has been eating this place for years, back to when it was in its old location, but it was my first time visiting so I was eager to try. Unfortunately I found it to be mediocre at best. I will say that the fried zucchini was excellent, probably the best I've had, but the sandwich I had and the other items that my family ordered were pretty meh.

My navigation suggested Uncle Pete's as a high probability match for me, so we gave it a shot. We were dining as a group of 2 adults and 2 teenagers and everyone of us was able to find something from the menu to order. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, though could have been a little quicker and attentive. The ambience was a definite surprise!

This place is fantastic! The decor makes you feel like you were warped back in time into some castle. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was great. We started out with the hot pepper cheese balls and they were really good. The cheese inside literally just melted as you bite into it. You get your choice of dipping sauce with the appetizer. For my entree I ordered the open faced turkey with mashed potatoes and gravy. I was really pleased with my meal. The portion was huge and the taste was fabulous. We will definitely be back!

Uncle Pete's is a good local place worth a visit, with some stellar food options and quality service. Visited this place with my friend's family recently for dinner. It's next to a physical rehab place, and apparently used to be located near the river before they had rent-related issues. While their new location doesn't have much of a view, it does have plenty of parking in a private lot, as well as a ton of room inside with plenty of tables. The interior is nicely furnished and dampens noise well, as evidence by its reasonable volume even during their peak weekend dinner period. I enjoyed the food, especially the cheesy bacon fries which were delicious. While nothing really stands out on the menu as a "must get", you're bound to find something you enjoy here. Nothing much to mention in terms of drinks, pretty standard offerings. While we had a brief wait for our table, it was to be expected given the local popularity of the place. Our server was attentive and made a number of callbacks throughout the evening. All things considered, Uncle Pete's is a good local option for families. I wouldn't go out of my way to return here again since there is nothing really "signature" about it, though it was certainly a positive experience. Overall: 4.0 stars ---------- Pros: - Good food options. - Great service. - Lots of seating and parking. Cons: - Location is less picturesque (pretty much no windows at all in the dining area) than its previous one. - Nothing really sets this place apart as unique. If I had to use one phrase to describe this place, it would be "reliably good".

We ended up at Uncle Pete's before going to the Festival of Lights at Ogelbay. To be honest we picked Uncle Pete's because of an actual Uncle Pete, who is a likeable guy, the proximity to Ogelbay, the good rating, and the fact that there was no wait. The place looks like a plain white warehouse from the outside. The inside, however, is really nice. There is a great bar area and seating area all with finished/rustic wood. The food was all pretty good and pretty reasonable. All our meals were around $10. I had beef tips which I enjoyed. My wife's Steak Salad was said to be really good. My daughter ate a cheese steak and my son had some chicken strips. Make this part of your trip to Wheeling and do Ogelbay and Cabella's.

And that's where it pretty much ended for me. We were greeted by 2 individuals prior to being sat. Once we were sat I was told I couldn't have any outside drinks. I was carrying a hot tea in a paper cup when we walked in. No one else mentioned this. I later read a posting in the bathroom about outside drinks being prohibited. Seemed like it was mostly to prevent outside alcohol but was a blanket statement for all drinks. I thought it was odd I had to take my hot tea back to my car. Besides that the waitress wasn't super warm and friendly either. If I remember correctly she started with, "what are you drinking?" After I had to walk my tea to our parked vehicle. The food was mid. Very very mid. I got a salmon savory crepe. The salmon was dry, almost white in color and just seemed old. The crepe itself was chewy and hard to cut. My husband's wrap was decent. Kids plates were also decent. I liked that you "created" their plate from 3 categories or options. Overpriced for quality and portion. Once our food arrived there was a swarm of gnats that came with it. Our table was wobbly so cutting any food shook the entire surface. Our toddler caught on to this and wanted to rock the table the whole time. So between holding the table, trying to cut food and swatting gnats away.. it just wasn't a good experience all together. I'm confident there are better options in town for us to try when we return.

The waitress started off by telling us all of the menu items that were not available - no chicken, no coquille, no onion soup, etc. 3 of us ordered steaks. Mine came with smashed potatoes and green beans and they were stone cold. The steak (filet) was nearly raw and was actually cold to touch. So was my daughter's. The waitress took our plates back and the whole plate was heated in a microwave. It was all tasteless and awful!!! My daughter's boyfriend had a New York strip steak that was ok and my daughter had crab cakes that were mediocre, but for a $500 meal, it was disgusting. - Two women came to the restaurant and the hostess was heard telling them that it would be a 40 minute wait because they were short of staff. There were actually more staff than there were customers. Before we left, we were the only ones there. It just seemed like they were anxious to close the restaurant. Extremely disappointing.

So I approached the juke box, and the bar tender Whoever said, that this is a family-owned restaurant, and they don't play the juke box during the day, because it is a family restaurant, but they have the Game Room, playing crude country music that doesn't respect the family, and they say my music is going make trouble. Plus they can have restricted stuff from not playing, instead, I felt singled out as a guest there. Yes, you can have your double standard rules, because this is America, and the freedom to do whatever you feel like, but that does not mean I have to go there to be singled. I don't have to go back there. The first time was great in January, but on my wife and I anniversary of 26 years, I think I can find a place where I feel more welcomed. It is always the case of passing a great place down through the family, in order for it feel unwelcomed of the glory days. Yes, I know this place has been around since the 1990's, but it is a very unwelcoming place. You can act nice, while showing you didn't want us there. They said it was because Karaoke was at 7PM, while a minute song at 4:45PM. While they didn't even know what songs I was going to place. Again, I thought it would be an old-fashioned feel. Thus instead, I felt the Cold Ridged Religious Feel that was a double standard of Gambling Rooms and so forth. Yes, I went to seminary and everything else, but I am going to let everyone choose their own path. They have their ridged rules, but that does not mean I have to eat there, especially for anniversaries. It is not an anniversary or a place for specially occasions. Again, it doesn't bother me one bit, because I move on, but I am raised with certain values to tell what I believe. My wife felt the onion soup was too breaded and cheesy. They had a great Salad and Gluten Free Pizza. And the bathrooms are clean when I went in there, but I don't feel welcomed there. Like you're a stranger that should never return. I just wonder.

The food is really good at this little restaurant. Elle & Jack's leans toward Italian cuisine, but it gets a little funky with it by offering things like chimichurri salmon, a burger and steak frites. The menu is small, though, which is a relief. A pared down menu is my favorite kind of menu. Give me a small list of the things you make well, and I'll be happy. We got the arancini as an appetizer, of course. My kids had never had arancini before, and they loved them. But it's hard not to love a fried ball of rice covered in red sauce! I got the steak Caesar, because I do love a good Caesar salad. At this point in my life, I'm pretty much obligated to order the Caesar if it's on a menu. The girl can't help it. The steak was cooked perfectly (medium well), and the only thing I would change would be to make the croutons smaller. We also got a side of charred Brussel sprouts with bacon and dates. These were good but needed to be a little more charred! In my opinion, Brussels sprouts taste best when they're scorched. A side order is huge and meant to be shared. It could have easily been shared with three or four people. Elle & Jack's does not have an official kids' menu printed on a paper, but they have an unofficial kids' menu, which apparently lives in each server's head and can only be shared verbally. It's like five or six items. From what I remember -- because our server's words floated away from me like dandelion seeds in the wind as soon as he spoke them -- kids can choose from pasta with red sauce, buttered noodles, a grilled cheese and a cheeseburger. One of my kids got pasta with red sauce, and it was a perfect portion size for a child. My child liked it but said that the noodles were too chewy (they were probably cooked al dente). My other kid got a grilled cheese, and he liked it just fine. The kids' grilled cheese comes with fries. The scene here is slightly upscale but casual. I saw people who were dressed up and people who were not dressed up. I think it's definitely a come-as-you-are joint, but a place to visit when you want something a little more elevated.
