    Chocolate piñata

We had a reservation and arrived a bit early. I think they were understaffed for the day though because it seemed like there were a few reservations but all waiting to be seated. This was fine but it did seem a little slow due to that fact. Our server said it was their first day haha so we weren't expecting much, but even though they had a bit of a rough start they did great overall--pretty attentive all things considering. I'd say the portions are pretty generous, and you can share a platter. The chips are light and crispy while the salsa has a unique robust flavor to it--maybe roasted peppers? Our kids really enjoyed it. They offer kids meals, but our kids actually ate more of our dishes than their own! My husband ordered shrimp fajitas, and the shrimp were flavored pretty well, but we just thought they'd be bigger. I shared a chicken and steak fajita with my mom, and the chicken was really tender--I was surprised. The skirt steak was pretty good too; our kids really liked the meats. I'd say the food is fine, but definitely feels more Mexican American. If you want to go somewhere for a nice get together but not fancy, then this is a great option. The main draw though is probably the chocolate piñata! This was a super fun and unique experience. Our server was so nice and gave our 2 kids their own little bat. Everything seems made from dark chocolate too or something less sweet than milk chocolate, which I appreciated! It's this chocolate ball that's hung, and inside is fresh fruit and churro. The board had cinnamon, dipping chocolate, and whipped cream. You crack open the chocolate piñata and then the fruit and churro bites spill out and you dig into it! So much fun. I would honestly come here just for this dessert.

I've been visiting various uncle Julio's locations all across the Chicagoland area for over 25 years and this is my first visit to the Schaumburg location. Came on a Sunday afternoon for lunch and also got enticed by an online coupon for $20 off as well. I haven't been back to an uncle Julio's in a while only to find out on this visit that the menu has drastically been overhaul and simplified. And I don't think it's been simplified for the better quite frankly because my usual menu item the Jalisco is no longer available. The drink menu continues to be a staple, and it is very vast. The good part is that the portions remain almost the same, which is very generous, considering that the prices are also higher. Also good that the chips and salsa continues to be unlimited as well. On this particular day and visit, our waiter was so incredibly friendly and fantastic !!! I would definitely come back here again not because I know the food or because it's consistent but for some reason the service this particular Sunday was on point !!!

Piñata with churros and strawberries-- it was very good!!!

This place I would recommend! It's very well maintained and the food is amazing! The service was great as well! They are very positive and kind! This place was really pleasant to eat at. Scenery was pretty! I recommend! It's just I'm not quite sure about the restrooms, floor is strangely sticky, but overall it was amazing here!

    Ground beef tacos- delicious!

This was my first time at any Uncle Julios and I was very impressed. We received a warm greeting by who I believe is the manager, and seated promptly in a booth as preferred. Our waiter was friendly and attentive which we also appreciated. As for the food, all three of thought our food was great! For me I enjoy a simple beef tacos, which can be difficult to find as most places offer chicken and steak (but not ground beef). The flavor was outstanding! My daughter enjoyed her quesadilla and my wife her enchiladas. Wonderful experience and I can't wait to visit this or another Uncle Julios location.

Perhaps because it is located inside a shopping mall, its prices are higher than those of nearby Mexican restaurants; however, the culinary experience it offered me was actually inferior to that of the other Mexican restaurants.

Trendy bar and musicians too loud!

Uncle Julio's was a pleasant surprise tonight! We stopped in after hitting up Woodfield mall. We sat at the bar since it was empty. The decor is trendy and the music volume was soft so we could talk without yelling! The bartender took our orders immediately and checked up on us numerous times throughout the night. I got the chicken fajitas and my wife got the cassbiria. The fajitas were juicy and seasoned very tastefully. The chips and salsa were excellent and even the spicy one wasn't very hot. My wife liked her cassebiria but said it was slightly dry. It does come with broth though. Overall, we really enjoyed Uncle Julio's. Good service, good pricing, and good atmosphere. Oh, the meals will fill you up. You can easily split them! Definitely check them out

My wife and I have been going to this restaurant for a few years have not been disappointed . Our service /bartender has been awesome great service very professional and friendly. Makes a mean margarita so if you can't get a table go in and sit at the bar, especially at happy hour 3 to 6 pm the hole drink menu is half price and the Guadalajar for two is the way to go kudos to Barbara and her crew keep up the good work will return

5 stars for Uncle Julio's in Woodfield Mall. Uncle Julio's is a nice dine-in Tex-Mex restaurant. They have table side guacamole where the server makes it in front of you - delicious. I had the combination meat fajitas that were very good and I also had the onion and cheese enchiladas very tasty. For desert, I tried the chocolate piñata full of pineapple, strawberries and churros. Highly recommend a visit, great customer service as well manager and servers all very friendly.

Our server, Am B, was friendly and attentive. When we had issues with our food, she handled it well and even brought us two shots as a nice gesture for the inconvenience. Manager Miguel was especially outstanding -- he came over right away the first time, stayed positive and helpful when we sent the food back a second time, and was happy to remove the problematic items from our bill. The whole staff was super nice and made us feel taken care of. Unfortunately, the food did not match the service. I ordered the ground beef taco dinner. The first plate came out cold, so I sent it back. The second attempt still lacked flavor -- the rice and taco I ate both times were bland. For a Mexican restaurant, it was disappointing, especially when compared to places like Chipotle that deliver hotter and tastier food for half the price point. My son ordered the steak burrito bowl, and his first one was also cold (not even warm). He didn't enjoy it either. Overall, the hospitality was 5 stars, but the food was not worth the stop. We appreciated how the staff made it right, but I probably wouldn't return for the food. I'd recommend going if you're in the area and prioritize friendly service, but temper your expectations on the meal itself.

The cocktail Paloma was marked on the menu as "the most popular," which is why I ordered it, but I simply didn't enjoy it. The same goes for the food. I ordered the Salsa Verde enchiladas, and I can't really say they were good either. They tasted somewhat sour to me. One great touch, though, was the complimentary chips with three different dips served as an appetizer. I was treating my parents for my dad's birthday month (My daughter has a lot of activities, lol) and the menu appeared to have something for everyone. The 22 minute drive to Itasca was so worth it! The restaurant, which is open to the public, is on the same property as the Itasca Country Club, which is not open to the public. You go down the stairs, through the developing pizza bar, and to the restaurant. The restaurant space itself is cozy, with beautiful, natural lighting, and lots of seating options. We were asked booth or table and seated right by the picture window with beautiful views of their ice rinks and golf course. The food was above and beyond my expectations! Between the 5 people at the table, I sampled the French Onion soup, Sweet & Spicy Brussels, Bacon Smash Burger, Pot Roast Grilled Cheese, Sweet Tees (Donut Holes), Peanut Butter Smore-o, and Verde Dulce. The soup was not salty as I find some iterations, the brussels had complex flavors with hot honey, bacon, candied pistachios, and crumbled feta. The pot roast grilled cheese was very flavorful, but my boyfriend did state he wished the sandwich had more meat in it. The Sweet Tees donut holes were cooked to perfection without being oily and the jam accompaniment was a perfect texture and level of sweet. The Peanut Butter Smore-o was creamy and decadent with its perfectly ratioed layers of ganache, peanut butter mousse, Oreos, and whipped cream. The Verde Dulce, though, was the delicious classic olive oil cake with pistachio gelato & that throwback of candied pistachios from my appetizer. Even better than the food, our server, Kara, was one of the sweetest, most attentive human beings! She answered all of our questions, refilled our fountain drink and iced tea glasses when they were at 75% without prompting, made sure my dad felt celebrated with a candle, etc. Her teammate who was in charge of clearing our table was also prompt and I appreciate her asking what plates she could take. Overall, it was a beautiful late morning/early afternoon with delicious food and impeccable service. 10/10 recommend!!!
