I was determined to get back to Uncle Doods to share the wealth of tastiness with my family. Boy, I wasn't disappointed and neither were they! This place is super small, so I can't imagine how packed it gets on weekend mornings! I was so charmed by the friendly and quick service you receive there. Very patient with my questions about the super cool menu with so many variations! I got the 9 piece (way better than chicken nuggets lol). I don't think they do dozens here.. My mouth was watering as I read the options and decided on 2 PB and J (the best donut I've ever had!!!), 2 maple bacon, Fruity Pebble and strawberry sprinkled for my baby girl, among others.. Seriously, I'm obsessed with PBand J anything and this was a gem. Peanut butter frosting with grape jelly inside. Oh and did I forget to mention, everything was made to order? Friendly staff! Great warm donuts! My personal favorites were the Vermont Swine and the French Toast! Decent price! I ordered 9 for $12 but actually ended up being about $14 due to some premium donuts I ordered. The donuts were not too big or not too small! Good Covid set up! Wow what a pleasant surprise the donuts here are hand made here daily and you can taste the freshness to them. My mother said they taste like old fashion donuts. I came here the first time last week to try since we had company over the house. Me and my aunt got a box of 9 all mixed donuts. They have a few named donuts but all are made, glazed and sprinkled to order. With that said you can create you own donut just look at wat they offer for topping and let your mind run wild. To me the donuts I enjoy the most were the PBJ (jelly filled donut with a peanut butter icing) deliciousness taste just like the sandwich. I also like the lemon glazed with iced tea sugar. I would like it with out the sprinkle of sugar next time. And also the French toast was good too I am a sucker for cinnamon. My aunt loved the somoa like the cookie but I thought there were too much coconut. Just my personal opinion. Was still delicious though. It's a small place but great for a grab and go and now with covid you have to wait outside and give you order through the window. The line does get long but it moves pretty quick. They are taking precautions with covid 19. They are wearing gloves, & customers in line are wearing masks. They only allow one person in the door way at a time! I felt totally safe! We are from NYC and I didn't think I would find donuts that surpassed what we have here. Oh how wrong I was. These are the best donuts we have ever had, period. They are the absolute freshest and offer such a wide array of flavors. If you like bacon you must try the "Vermont Swine." It is has a maple frosting and it coated with a super thick topping of bacon bits! The donuts are also somehow not greasy, which I love. My Motorcycle quest for donut glory brought me to Uncle Dood's. This tiny hole in the wall is filled with delicate whole filled sweet treats. These guys take the cake donut topping craze to a nice plateau. Many choices and delicious dips served up fast and fresh to order. I had my typical trifecta to get a full circle (get it?) experience. The raspberry crumb cake was awesome, soft yellow cake donut with a really crunchy topping drizzled with the right amount of raspberry. You have to try the creamsicle, very nicely done. My favorite was the "Vermont" maple bacon donut. They used thick cut perfectly cooked bacon. Some crispy some chewy overall a true bacon experience and a hearty breakfast in one hand!!! Overall I loved the place but I have some observations. The elephant in the room is there was no place to park my fat ass. Sure there's a park across the street and a single bench out front. Be prepared to grab and go. The coffee was not bad but there were no selections and only 1 size. Bring your own fork!!! Keep in mind Donuts are finger food but these tasty treats are gooey, I would have preferred eating mine in less of a caveman fashion. To the owners credit he offered me an opportunity use their bathroom to wash up. Nobody like a sticky throttle and clutch lever. Overall this place is a must visit. I did not visit this place, but was told the service was great given there were only 2 people. They change their menu every month with different donuts. They start off with the donut base and construct it depending on what is ordered. Overall, it was a little dry, but nothing terrible. They were of decent size. I was able to sample 6 different donuts ($9). Below are my thoughts on each. Smore - This donut consisted of cinnamon sugar with chocolate icing and mini marshmallows. It was solid, exactly how one expects a smore donut to taste. Ube Bae - This was an ube icing with white coconut. The ube icing was interesting. Ube is a purple yam. Being I am not a huge fan of coconut, decent at best. Lemon 3.14 - It was made up of vanilla icing, lemonsnap cookie crumble and lemon cream filling. The donut was very lemony as one would guess and I was a fan. Training Wheels - There was tequila lime icing and a sprinkle of salt on this donut. I was most interested to try this one. I was impressed. I was afraid I would taste too much salt, but that was not the case at all. The lime flavor obviously stood out. PBJ - The donut contained peanut butter icing and grape jelly filling. This was easily my favorite donut ate. It might be the best peanut butter and jelly I ever had. I liked the concept of the peanut butter as the icing and the jelly on the inside. French Toast - Maple icing and cinnamon sugar was on top of this donut. It was extremely dry, but was very tasty. WHERE DO I BEGIN?! I walk into this unsuspecting gem and low and behold I am in Donut Heaven. I was warmly greeted upon entering the store. Thankfully for me the store wasn't that busy at the time and I was able to ask 100 questions of which were all patiently and graciously answered. I finally settled on Vermont Swine and French Toast. OMFG - truthfully I don't know which one is better. They are SO VERY DELICIOUS. Do NOT fear ordering these as they are not a cloyingly sweet maple syrup. It is a perfectly balanced icing that pairs amazingly with the bacon or the cinnamon sugar depending on which donut you pick. It was so good - I ordered 10 other donuts, because hey, you only live once! Beyond the donuts however, it is the customer service that makes this place. Casual, friendly, informative, and most importantly, GENUINE. I regret that I don't live in this area but can assure you that when I am around, I will go out of my way to stop by. We found this place with a 5 star on Yelp with over 200 reviews. So naturally we needed to try it! We drove through from Southern Jersey up to Point Pleasant. Street parking with no fees on weekends, we parked right in front. A bit of a line for the small quarters to share. It was well worth the fresh to order donuts! They really taste like another so beware you'll want more than 1. It was really nice to watch them make them through the small glass wall. Loooooove Uncle Dood's. To this day, I dont know who he is. The few times I've been there, I never bothered to ask. ‍ But whoever he is, his place is yummy! I love that the location is right in the heart of downtown Tom's River. I'm still one of the ancient people who go to the library. And instead of getting donuts at Dunkin Donuts which is literally 5 [giant] steps away from the exit of the library, I'd rather walk to Uncle Dood's. And it's a plus on a nice day bc the surrounding area is cute- you got the water just across the street, little eateries steps away, etc. The donuts are delicious. (See pic) I highly recommend the maple bacon and.... another maple bacon. But the nutnilla, twix (I forget the name), and French toast is yummy, too. What a fun find! We were in the area of Tom's River NJ while visiting family. We came across this place while researching breakfast spots on Yelp. We just had to try it after reading so many glowing reviews, as well as the amazing photos that were shared (thanks Yelpers!) We walked into this super tiny shop and were immediately greeted warmly by two gentlemen behind the counter. We were asked very politely if we needed a run down of the process and happily listened to the friendly tour. We have been to other such spots, so we somewhat knew what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised that while ordering our selection of 9 donuts for $10 plus tax, that the other gentleman was already fast at work on our order. By the time we paid, we were being presented with our donut creations. This was somewhat disappointing as I would have liked to see them being prepared. However, it was great for those in a rush and the next guest was most likely happy we were on our way within minutes of entering. The variety of flavors can be customized. This was fun especially for the little guests in our party. We enjoyed mixing and matching the recommendations with our own wild creations. The taste of the base donut was a bit crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They were ah-mazing! The toppings were just the right amount for the size of the donuts. Each bite was delicious! This was the first bacon donut that had a very good amount of bacon balanced with maple frosting (Vermont). We loved every donut and will definitely add this to our must visit spots. This place is a local gem. I've had donuts from so many places and nothing compares to Uncle Dood's. When you pass it you wouldn't look at it twice since it's a small little store but you'll probably see a lot of people outside (especially on the weekends). The staff is the most welcoming and friendly group too. They always give great suggestions on their new flavors depending on what kind of donuts you like. My personal favorites include the Samoa, bedrock, and the vanilla with Oreos. I'm always open to trying new flavors though. All their donuts are made fresh at the store and they're crispy on the outside and soft and warm on the inside. It's really the perfect combination. I always get a box or two of 9 donuts to bring back for my friends and family that rave about the pictures I post of them. A box of 9 is about $10. This place is cash only. read more
