We've been going here a couple times a week for over a year. We have two bunnies, a cat and fish. We haven't gotten any pets from here, but we buy food, bedding and other items. Pros: A good variety of animals. They carry the rabbit food that my bunnies crave! Decent aquarium section. Good deals on tanks. The cages have always been clean. The larger birds are always social and friendly. I would love to bring one (or two) of them home, but their price is hefty. Cons: Staffed by younger individuals that act like typical teenagers. They carry dogs, which makes me sad. They put cat cages up against bird cages. They have bird cages too close to the floor. Overpriced in the critter department. I've visited a lot better pet stores in my lifetime, unfortunately none are nearby. I gave this place a 3, because I still visit the store...even with its faults. read more

Don't waste your time will sit in there for 20 minutes when 2 works helped 1 person asked for help when they were finish another person walked up and they never helped me left the store was on nov 29th at 10:00 very disappointed read more

Horrible condition they have puppies for sale in. Lethargic and sickly, laying in their own urine and stool. They shouldn't be allowed to sell animals in those conditions. It's heart breaking. read more

it was pretty good, very cute puppies. A little messy. Would go again 100% but maybe not buy my animals there. read more

They care about sales more than actually taking care of the animals. One of the employees saw me looking at one of the kittens and came over to tell me that I should "take it home today because it's only $375, an incredible deal" I asked if the kitten was bonded with any of the other ones and she said "it doesn't matter I could get you this one for $375". She asked me to purchase this kitten 3 more times and would not answer any other questions that I had. read more

I specifically asked if they had female and male guppies. They said yes started packaging up to them and I got to the register and found out they weren't and they were going to let me check out with them. read more

This place is disgusting! Puppy mill pups stuck inside hot glass front boxes barely big enough for them to turn around. Thirty parakeets stuck in one cage all with their eyes closed and wobbling around. The fish tanks were milky and disgusting. Gross the entire place should be shut down. read more

Uncle Bill's carries a large amount of puppies, many of which are caged and displayed for hours out of the day. Though I can't be sure, my inclination is that the dogs are bought from puppy farms. They are lethargic and do not engage you as you approach their cage. Animal Control should investigate this place. read more

This is one of the only places left in town that provides puppies. I've never been fond of stores that provide puppies, most of them come from mills. The few times I've been in this location, the dogs were clearly agitated. They allow people to handle the dogs on a whim, and I have even known people to go into this location simply to play with the puppies. There's almost constant barking, yelping, crying. My brother and his wife purchased their pure-bred basset hound there and he's had severe behavior problems which can only be the result of serious inbreeding. This location is also, unfortunately, the only place in Fort Wayne and the surrounding area that sells large hamsters. Sadly, I couldn't even find a breeder. The cages are filthy with feces and smell positively foul. I feel terrible for the small animals that are housed there. They had a full-sized rabbit in a cage suitable for hamsters. All the hamsters to choose from were very distressed. I still am unable to handle the one I chose (one of the only ones who looked healthy and didn't hiss when the handler tried to pick him up.) It's clear these animals have been poorly handled, even misused. I will never step foot in this place again... I left with a bad feeling about how they run their animal business. If you're looking for a dog, research breeders or please consider adopting from a shelter. read more

Horrible customer service with very rude staff. Heaven forbid you touch an animal or cage. I'm over 40 years old and was yelled at in a very rude way for touching a dog. There was no sign stating you can't. We have been here a few times and each time they have been very rude. A one star is generous for their customer service. I will be taking my business elsewhere. Absolutely horrible! Poor animals! read more

Only place that carries the cat food that does not cause my cat asthma. I now buy it on line, because it is expensive. They do have animals. I would never buy an animal. They just seem to show up when they are in need. That being said, the animals seem healthy and happy whenever I have gone in, they employees always seem to have a different one out, in the center, playing with it and giving it attention. There is a store cat that also runs around the store. It stays to itself, but occasionally says hi. I can not speak for the source of the animals. Store claims they are ethically sourced, but how can I know. Regardless, they carry some better quality products than most of the other stores in town. read more

This pet store could use big updates. Carpet in store was disgustingly filthy. A pet store should have flooring and no carpet, so it can be properly cleaned. Puppies in small cages in back of store, and not knowing how long the poor things are left in those cages. Most are surely back yard breeders. Bad first impression of a pet store. Horrible. read more

This place is so overly priced & all these babies just want to be in a happy loving home. Word of mouth goes far!!!!!

Never, ever purchase an animal from here. One visit was enough for us to see how poorly the animals are treated here. Medium to large sized dogs in tiny enclosures that certainly do not meet the minimum space requirement passed by the Animal Welfare Regulations Requirement Act. This, paired with the fact that there is currently a petition circulating to close this business should be enough to turn you away. Visit local animal shelters--there are animals there that desperately need your help. Unfortunately, purchasing a puppy or kitten from a shop like Uncle Bill's only promotes the mass production of animals through likely unethical breeding under bad conditions. It's definitely not fair to the animals they have for sale, but it's the best we can do. read more

I must say that the wide selection of marine fish would probably make me stop in again in the future, however, my overall impression of the place (and I spent a good hour inspecting their livestock and living conditions) was not that great. Here's why. Cages for some animals were too small. Reef aquariums were unsightly and covered in algae (being a reef aquarist, I understand there will be some algae). Bird cages were not clean, toys were chewed/faded beyond recognition. Water dishes appeared to not have been cleaned for a week. I own exotic birds and keep their cages clean and toys replaced regularly, so this is just a classic case of neglect. A perfect breeding ground for disease. Some species were priced very high, in comparison to petsmart whose prices in my opinion are too high. And of coarse, I would never purchase a puppy here for many reasons I will not cover in this review. I wouldn't say the conditions were inhumane, but they were definitely bordering those conditions in some cases. This is not acceptable and was addressed with the manager, who promptly cleaned the bird water dishes. Problem is employee quality can be low at petstores, who typically hire college "hate my job-ers" who just need a paycheck every week and do not care about their job. And don't seem to know much of anything about their livestock. Petsmart staff are not much better but I've found a few knowledgeable ppl there. I've seen staff chase birds around their cage to the point they are clearly distressed and panting, just so a casual shopper can pet it. This tells me they do not understand how flight animals think and react, or simply just don't care. Probably both. I'm giving this place 2 stars because I've seen worse. read more

I was visiting Fort Wayne recently and stopped in this store looking to see if they had mushing harnesses. The entire back wall is glass pens from floor to ceiling with puppies. It was like walking into the 1980's. They had a 4 month old Siberian husky that I asked about, before the girl answered my inquiry she said, he's really bad, like, really really bad. I looked at her in disgust and said, you have a Siberian husky in a box for two months and you expect him to listen to you. I asked how much he was and was shocked to hear $1500 without any papers. I also overheard the Rottweiler puppy was $1700 no papers. They are all obviously mill puppies and priced 2-3x what they should be. I hope this place goes bankrupt. read more

Awful service. Every time I have visited this location the employees treat you like you don't know what you are talking about or they just stare at you and ignore you. The puppies are always in smelly cramped conditions and overpriced. Take your business elsewhere. Buy from a reputable breeder or adopt an animal who needs a home from a shelter. read more

Very helpful staff! Pretty full selection of pets. Dogs and Cats, nice big (and clean) selection of fresh and saltwater fish and related items, ferrets, mice, guinea pigs, gerbils, etc. Super friendly folks here. read more

Wish I could give more stars based on: Selection of premium dog food is excellent. Prices seemed fair. Customer service was decent. But.... The fact that they sell puppies is SHAMEFUL....and for that reason alone - WE WILL NOT BE BACK. read more

Please do not support this business by making any purchases here. I do not believe that any part of an animal's life should be spent in a cage or that animals should be bred for sale in the way that this business does so. Puppies are left in singular cages all day, all night, with no windows or outdoor spaces to escape to. These cages are extremely small and have no privacy for the pets. They lack interaction with other pets and are on display as commodity. I'm not sure why this way of sale is legal in the state of Indiana, but I hope we can have enough empathy and education on the matter to not support a business like this. Uncle Bill's, if you care for animals than please stop selling them and holding them in these conditions and focus on selling animal products instead, and hosting adoption centers for animals to find homes. read more

I have shopped here occasionally since they opened. They are not my favorite pet store because on repeated trips I have found that if your not there to see a puppy than no one is interested in helping you. The employees stand in the middle of the store talking as if they dont see you. I can only assume this means they work on commision. After todays visit I will no longer shop there at all. I went in to purchase feeder fish for my turtle. There were only a few dozen remaining in the tank, at which point I was told "I dont want to sale any of these until my new shipment comes in tonight". After 40 years of shopping for my pets never have I gone into a pet store where they refuse to sale you what they have in stock for no other reason other than it will look like they are out of stock. I promptly drove to PetSmart where they were more than happy to sale me the fish in their tank. PetSmart will be getting all of my business from now on. read more

Went in to see if they had any English bulldogs. They had one little girl, four months old and AKC registered. They let us play with her then informed us that she was $4000!!! EXCUSE ME?! I know they are expensive but really?! We have had pure breeds in the past and even have bred AKC reigtered championship line Chows in the past, so we are aware how pricey pure breds are. As we were there, I noticed that anyone could walk in and play with any of the puppies whether they were interested or not. Not a good practice as puppies can get very sick easily. read more

I am absolutely appalled at the conditions the animals are forced to live in. We just went in today and the German Shepherd puppy had crusted stool behind it's ear and smelt like pee. They lied and said all the animals are bathed on sundays. If that were the case then Duke wouldn't have smelt like he did. Along with that, the fact that all the puppies are in small cages that aren't cleaned properly. Don't shop, adopt!! Places like this are what keeps deplorable puppy mills in business. I will be protesting this location and lookin into legal action as to have it stopped IMMEDIATELY!! read more

I was in today and I do say that they have a lot of pets. First the birds are close to the floor it was good that I had an eye on my 4 year old or he would have gotten snipped at plus they are next to the cats, kind of dumb. Dogs seemed healthy some more crazy then the others. They seemed to be very short staffed with one guy trying to answer questions let people see puppies put other back and clean up cages. It was too much for me when I was just watching. Several dogs were eating their own shit. Probably because that's the way they have found that they don't have to sit in their cage with it. It's tooooo sad. Was not the guys fault he was doing the best e could but he needed help. One dog I liked is almost 6 months old and still 1500 which is ridiculous at that age. Plus they should be more worried about givin them a home and not the money. These dogs all just want a family. Every time I have gone into a pet store with dogs I always have some horrid experience. I wish I could adopt all of them. read more

In the past I have not been impressed with their fish. Their knowledge of fish and corals was horrible at best. It seemed like they just hired who ever could fill a space. But we were able to talk to their new fish guy and he really knew his stuff and it seemed like he wasn't just trying to sell you something. We were happy and plan on going back. read more

We purchased a mini Australian shepherd here a few months ago, with the promise that he came from a respectable dog breeder in Indiana. Once we got his paperwork in the mail, we discovered he came from one of the largest puppy mills in Missouri. We were blatantly lied to. I absolutely love my dog, and wouldn't trade him for the world, but I never would have even dreamt of supporting a puppy mill operation. Sad, disappointed, and disgusted. read more
