We are an amazing experience in eating Healthy Vegan Food in Boyle Heights at Un Solo Sol.
    Lance H.

Solid Vegan and the food is not only to nourish the body, but your mind and soul. We had an excellent meal today! This was my first outing since my recent hospitalization and rehab to build my body back in fighting cancer. My Queen Michele and I were coming from LA County Medical Center to follow up on my surgery. We are on a new path eating healthy food and getting the right foods for our bodies. The opportunity to first learn about a place in my Barrio of Boyle Heights and meeting Carlos (the owner) who shared his experience with us in providing healthy food to be the "medicine" for our bodies, "Sunrise to Sunset"! We had the Curry Peas Bowl, Shiitake Mushrooms enchiladas and the Green Pozole with Mushrooms, I highly recommend it. We happen to run into fellow Rough Riders

I was pleasantly surprised. If you are looking for good, clean eating food, this place is a must try My enchiladas were" tofu" pastor inspired seasoning, the other shredded calabasas, tofu light and delicious!

Food was amazing! Had the pupusa with organic masa, beans n greens and a sweet delicious steamed banana. It tasted like comfort! My gf had the rainbow tacos...which I'm getting next time! The el pastor mushrooms were made with love.

I absolutely love this place! The owner is so nice! This is such a healthy snack. Authentic food. The whole vibe is very chill and that of an authentic Mexican restaurant. Amazing if you're vegan but also just an amazing spot for non vegans or veg curious! Please do yourself a favor and check this place out!!

Such an amazing spot, can't believe it took me forever to check it out. They specialize in vegan food and it's absolutely amazing. Whether you are vegan, watching your weight or just want to try a new delicious spot, then make a stop here! The service is amazing! They made sure that we were able to submit our order through their QR code and checking on us to ensure that the food was good. I highly recommend to check this spot out, even if you aren't vegan. You won't even realize that it's vegan because that's how good the food is. I ordered the chilaquiles and know that there was nothing left once I was done. My table order the potato tacos and enchiladas, both plates were also delicious.

A fantastic restaurant with great health-conscious food and exceptional service. We were served by the store owner. He's been vegan for decades and shared with us a plethora of diet and health advice, delving into topics like live gut bacteria, the benefit of leafy greens, etc. He clearly cares about his customers' health. He explained that he tries to avoid serving fried food, sugary drinks, etc. There is a single-stall bathroom in the back of the kitchen that you have to be escorted to. Give this place a try. You'll come to see that food can simultaneously be healthy and delicious (:

What a sweet little find! My friends and I were in the area for a conference and were looking for a quick vegetarian bite. To our delight, we found this awesome vegan Mexican/Indian fusion spot in the heart of Boyle Heights. Our server, who I am assuming was the owner of the place took so much pride in explaining to us how everything he was going to serve us was vegan and made in house. We ordered chips and guacamole, taco platter (pastor, choya- chickpea stew), tacos de picadillo, and taco de nopales. The platter came with rice and beans and my friend and I ordered agua de sandía and agua de guanábana. The pastor was made with mushrooms in a pastor marinade, choya was made with chickpeas, and picadillo was made with a blend of lentils that had been stewed spices for hours. As the owner explained, nothing they use is made with inflammatory artificial meats. The chips were baked, the guacamole and aguas frescas were made on the spot and nothing was over sweetened. 5 stars because this place is offering the community real health on a plate! The flavors offer you that, real healthy and flavor infused guisados that come from using real ingredients. Don't come here expecting to satisfy a salty fried filled craving. Come here with an open mind and in appreciation of what healthy good for you food should taste like.

One of my favourite place to grab lunch with vegan friends! The place is small, but the food is delicious and the service always friendly. One of my faves is the lomo saltado with mushroom; great flavour and you don't even miss the meat. Only downside is that there's only street parking and the ac isn't great.

    Fruit bowl (kid approved)?

Great service, delicious and healthy food in the community. The aguas frescas are a perfect taste where the sweetness is not overwhelming. The only issue is parking but that's the only limitation.

Every once in a while, you come across a restaurant that reminds you of why food is so important. Un Solo Sol is an absolute hidden gem that serves a variety of dishes that nourish your soul and also teach a unique perspective on history. The mishmash of dishes ranging from South American to Indian may confuse you at first, but know that the flavors will be delicious! Items we recommend: the green pozole that's so comforting, pupusa platter with herbaceous chipilin (heartier spinach) and beans, and the Indian kachumber salad with perfectly spiced tofu. End on a sweet note with the kheer almond milk rice porridge and don't forget to try the hibiscus drink! Carlos, the owner, was lovely to speak with.

The last I spoke to an employee, they serve eggs and chicken. They just recently stopped serving beef.

Our waiter was personable and took our order quickly as well as consistently replenished our drinking water. Everything was delicious and had its own unique flavor, from the chickpea fritters which had softness and crunchiness, the goat mousse with sweet and savory sauces and the crumpets and crackers; then the goat belly with a deliciously crisp skin and soft inside and intense flavor (but not gamey) with a rich sauce, the steak was yummy and precut, and the pork shank which was epic! I loved all the greens and pita to wrap the pork and goodies into! We ended with a bday scoop of mango sticky ice cream which was completely different than I've had before and yummy.

The standouts were the green beans, the Brussels sprouts that came with the chicken, the pork shank and the tuna and crunchy quinoa salad. I'm still thinking of that crunchy quinoa. We had no room for dessert. So maybe next time we try the goat curry, get the quinoa salad again and get dessert! The service was great too. Attentive but not overbearing. Each time I've come the waitstaff has been super friendly, and the food amazing. So, when planning a little birthday lunch for my mom's 81st birthday, this was one of the first places I thought of. My mom lives in south LA and we live in the valley, so after picking her up, we wouldn't have to travel far to eat. Although we planned to arrive to the restaurant at 2, traffic was horrible and we arrived at 230pm. After looking for parking, I dropped the fam off at 2:40 so they could sit and look at the menu while I found parking. I get a text from my husband saying they closed at 3 so hurry. This was news to me, as I thought they closed at 5. I found parking and rushed in at 2:48, to see my family outside the restaurant. Perplexed, I went in to ask if we could still eat, as it wasn't yet 3pm. No wait staff came to the front to greet me, so I walked in a bit and asked the waiter if it was okay to eat. The waiter said we close in ten. I said I thought the website said you closed at 5. I must have read it wrong. I understand, but it's not 3 and we came a bit of a distance and it's my mom's 81st birthday. The waiter, whose name is Jack, offered to ask the kitchen if they would still make food. I said yes please would you ask? While Jack was asking, another waiter asked me if I had been helped. I told him yes, that Jack was asking the kitchen if we could still have lunch. This waiter says, we're closing in 10. I'd like to have lunch too. And walks away. Yes, with shade. Jack returns and says it's fine as long as we can order within a few minutes of getting the menu. I say great and we all come in. The 2nd waiter takes our order with the least amount of personality he possibly can, and the whole lunch is slightly awkward and we're not able to truly enjoy ourselves with the feeling of "we better hurry up and eat" lingering. By the time we ordered and received our food (which was delicious as usual) , there were still 4 other groups of customers there, and we actually left the restaurant within a minute or two after the last customers before us. Also, no one came around to ask how our food was and if we needed anything. I'm giving 3 stars because this experience didn't quite sit right with me. Yes, it was near closing, but your doors weren't closed and there was no sign saying last call/order at 2:45 or anything like that. I feel like once the kitchen approved making our lunch, customer service should have been at its peak for paying customers, who gave no attitude and tried to be as polite with the ask as possible. It was not. I still tipped 25%, because Jack (waiter 1) was polite and my 81 old mama who I was celebrating raised me that way, but I'm not sure I'll patronize them again.

The waitress was taking our orders and what surprised me was with my co-worker ordered the pad see ew and the waitress asked her how spicy she wants it. I was aw shocked. I'm not a Thai food expert but I do know pad see ew is a noodles dish that's offers a sweet soy sauce flavor. Never served spicy. I didn't get to try the dish but when I asked my co worker how it taste she said it was spicy and not sweet at all. I'm not sure that was an authentic pad see ew. I ordered from the lunch menu and got the tumeric chicken, with steamed vegetables and paid extra $7 to substitute for a papaya salad. I asked for #2 spice level but it was not spicy at all. Other co workers said they asked for medium but it was way too spicy. So it looks like their spicy levels are inconsistent.
