    Spicy Chicken and Island Shrimp
    Greg Y.

Large portions, great taste, and amazing customer service. Had the Spicy Chicken, and Island Shrimp. The sides were mac salad, spicy cucumber, chapchae, white rice and cabbage. We also went with the Chicken Katsu and all mac salad. Order of Mandoo Dumplings. Everything we had was freshly prepared, and taste was spot on. The manager Christine was really helpful and very friendly. It's a small place on the inside however there is plenty of patio seating which was perfect. Highly recommend giving them a try! The pricing is very reasonable and trust me you will leave with satisfied. We will be back!!!

Love the Bulgogi and broccolini and fish cakes! Definitely going to be a repeat customer.

Yum yum yum! Kal bi & spicy pork

Everything here is soooo good! The Kal Bi and Spicy Pork are tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. The portions? Generous. The pricing? A steal for how satisfying everything is. The service? Super friendly and efficient. It's mostly a takeout spot with limited indoor seating and more tables outside. My friend came back without me and would not stop raving about their Jun. Now the FOMO is real and unavoidable. Safe to say, I'll be back very soon to fix that mistake. Highly recommended!

Regular Kal Bl Plate. Bean sprouts, spinach, kimchi, and jahp chae for the sides.

In some of my trips here, I liked picking the BBQ Chicken and seasoned tofu as one of the sides to my bowl or plate. The lentils and spinach, while good, were chosen as sides many times, and I wanted something different. I tried the Korean broccoli and thought the garlic made it tasty and delicious. The customer service felt polite and appreciative. The employee wearing a Laker's cap kindly thanked us. I've never eaten inside because taking my order to go seemed more convenient. In terms of the setting, Umma's K-BBQ was clean with a few tables and chairs.

We ordered online for a party of four and everything about the process was smooth, super fast, efficient, and we even got a text notification right when our order was ready. I love it when when places are on top of it like that. I went with the mini bulgogi bbq beef plate with white rice, japchae, and spicy cucumbers. The bulgogi was tender, juicy, and has that hint of sweet and savory flavor. The japchae glass noodles had that slightly sweet and savory taste and the noodles were soft. Lastly, the spicy cucumbers were crisp with a mild kick of spice. Overall, everything tasted fresh and well prepared. It's one of those spots that's simple, consistent, and just hits the spot when you're craving Korean comfort food. We are definitely coming back to this one.

Service is great, cashier was really helpful and friendly. It wasn't busy at all. There are a lot of choices and we went with the combo with meat Jun and bbq chicken. Everything was so delicious here. There is no space to eat inside but there's plenty of seating outside!

This was nearby, so I decided to stop in to try it. Inside was pretty small with about 2 dining tables. Luckily there wasn't a too long of a line, so I ordered within 5 minutes. I got the combo with beef bulgogi and meat jun and chose spicy cucumber, kimchi, tofu, and japchae for my 4 sides. The portion was quite big, but it was mostly because of the amount of rice that was given. The beef bulgogi was okay, I think it lacked a bit of flavor. The meat jun was pretty good, but that was my first time having it, so I don't have anything else to compare it to. The sides were pretty solid, but it'd be hard to mess those up. I think if there was less rice and more flavor in the meat, this would be a pretty solid spot. The staff was friendly and made the food quickly. Plenty of parking around.

Good to be back at my favorite Korean place! Cone and try their lunch platters, extra sides!

Randomly stumbled upon this place while waiting to get my car fixed. Christine was very friendly and helped me decide and narrow down what to get after wanting everything. Everything was soo good, especially the island shrimp. First time trying mandu and it was delicious. Definitely will be back!!

Umma's, is a Lake Forest gem. We are super happy to have them down further in South OC. Prior to Umma's, I couldn't get my Korean food fix unless I drove to, Irvine. Although Irvine isn't far, it's always busy and wait times are typically long for a table. Umma's is not a sit down restaurant but they do have tables right outside in that small plaza. Umma's offers individual platters, as well as catering/party sized food trays and marinated frozen meats. They have a lot of banchan here and they're so delicious. Portions are thankfully generous, so the food can be shared or will last 2-3 meals for yourself. For those of you needing gluten free, they do offer that option. Check out their website for gluten free items. Meats/entrees we love; 1) Vegetarian plate - I get this when all I want are all kinds of banchan 2) BBQ beef bulgogi 3) Spicy Pork 4) Spicy chicken 5) Kalbi short ribs 6) Chicken katsu - the katsu sauce is tasty I haven't tried the meat or fish jun yet, nor the bi bim bap, island shrimp and Soondubu tofu soup. Banchan that I love; 1) cucumber - my FAVE here 2) Cabbage salad - so good. I usually sub this instead of rice 3) Chapchae - delicious 4) Korean broccoli - perfect 5) seasoned tofu 6) macaroni salad - yum 7) seaweed salad - love it Umma's, is a great little place to satisfy my cravings for Korean food and I appreciate the portion to price ratio. I've never been disappointed. I don't have to smell like BBQ by the time I'm done eating so it's a win-win.

Umma's K-BBQ is a nice hole in the wall spot for yummy Korean food. It's located in a plaza with other take-out restaurants. The store itself is on the smaller side, but they have tables both inside and outside of the store. Service is always friendly here too. The spicy pork bowl came with rice, and two sides: I got japchae and cucumber kimchi. The food is fresh and delicious! Will definitely be coming back.

What type of seaweed is in the side dish? It was delicious!

Hi it’s just dried wakame (seaweed). We use a tangy sweet dressing of vinegar, sesame oil, sugar, and sesame seeds to complement it. We’re so glad you enjoyed it.

Hi! How many people is the catering tray good for?

Hello! The mini family packs are good for up to 4 people and the large family packs are good for up to 8 people. The meat-alone small trays for catering can feed up to 6 people and the meat-alone large trays for catering can feed up to 10 people. If…

Hello! Dated 3/14/24, we now take phone orders. Thank you.

Are the kal bi ribs beef? What's inside the fried mandu? Any lard or pork products in the chicken or kale bi combo plates (including sides)?

Hi, the kalbi is beef short ribs. The fried Mandu is a mix of vegetables, pork, and beef. There however is no pork or lard products in the other items except for spicy pork.

    Can we buy extra sides?

Yes. We have ala carte available for extra individual sides.

Do you serve brown rice as an alternative?

    Yes we do.

Hi! Can you purchase extra banchan as a side? Thank you for your time!

Sorry for the late response. Yes, we offer small (8 oz), medium (16 oz), and large (24 oz). Respectively, the small is $4.95; medium $7.95; and large $10.95 plus tax. Kimchi and spicy cucumber may be less in oz because the sauce can spill out.

So you have any dishes and banchan that are allium free or could be made that way? I'm allergic to alliums 😩 (onion, garlic, scallions, shallot, chives, etc).

Hi Marie, All our meat marinades have alliums, but you could order the chicken katsu or fish jun which are allium free.…

I love their Kalbi set which is plenty of food for my husband and me to share. We have tried the combo set with unmarinated brisket + Kalbi and thought the Kalbi was perfectly tender and tastefully seasoned, but the brisket was a bit tough and chewy. The second time, we ordered the combo set with Kalbi + bulgogi and we loved it so much that we went back a third time and ordered the same thing and loved it the third time as well. The bulgogi was tender and flavorful and went well with the lettuce and tasty ssamjang (thick chili/bean paste dipping sauce). The soft tofu it comes with was also a welcome part of the meal and all of the banchan side dishes were also excellent. Some Korean restaurants serve banchan dishes that are all cloyingly sweet, but at Nasung, all of the banchans are fresh, well balanced, savory, and pair perfectly with everything else. This BBQ set really is a great value and feels like a symphony of flavors that come together perfectly into one well orchestrated meal for two. This isn't the place for trendy fusion dishes or flashy presentation; it's all about hearty Korean comfort food that feels especially satisfying on a cold day. My go-to Korean dishes are Yukgaejang and Bossam. The spicy beef soup is usually my benchmark for any Korean restaurant. Tang 190's version delivered everything I look for: a rich, deeply flavored broth with a satisfying level of spice and plenty of tender beef throughout. It's the kind of soup that keeps me coming back. This last visit, I finally got to try their pork and kimchi platter. The pork itself was tender and enjoyable, but I wasn't a fan of the cabbage. Instead of being lightly pickled with salt, it had been fermented to the point where it resembled white kimchi. I've actually never seen it made like this before. I definitely prefer the fresher, crisper flavor profile to pair with the pork and radish, so this preparation didn't quite work. Service was efficient, and the meal arrived quickly. On any other day, it's usually a 5 star visit, but the bossam preparation was a huge miss for me. While prices have crept up over the years, Tang 190 still does what it does best: serving comforting, no-frills Korean food that consistently hits the spot.

Her voice was loud enough that another employee noticed the situation and offered to take over the order. Instead of accepting the help professionally, our server responded that the other employee would not be able to understand what she had written in Korean. When the other employee later asked her to repeat our order, she read it back very loudly and with obvious anger. The entire restaurant could hear her, and the experience made our whole family feel embarrassed and extremely uncomfortable, especially since we had children with us. Later, she seemed to realize that her behavior had affected us. She brought us a noodle dish "on the house" and briefly said sorry. While we appreciated the gesture, it did not undo the way we were treated in front of the entire restaurant. My question is: if you knew your behavior required an apology afterward, why treat customers that way in the first place? Customers should not be made to feel like an inconvenience simply because they are dining with a larger group or placing a larger order. We came to enjoy a family meal, not to be spoken to with hostility and publicly embarrassed. Unfortunately, this experience completely overshadowed the food.
