Umma's K-BBQ is such a nice place to eat. If you're ordering to-go, it's a very smooth process, and the wait time isn't bad either. If you decide to eat in, there are a few seats inside, but even if it's full, there is community sitting right outside which has more than enough tables and chairs. Clean, delicious, and affordable. I don't know what more you can ask for.
Everything here is soooo good! The Kal Bi and Spicy Pork are tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. The portions? Generous. The pricing? A steal for how satisfying everything is. The service? Super friendly and efficient. It's mostly a takeout spot with limited indoor seating and more tables outside. My friend came back without me and would not stop raving about their Jun. Now the FOMO is real and unavoidable. Safe to say, I'll be back very soon to fix that mistake. Highly recommended!
In some of my trips here, I liked picking the BBQ Chicken and seasoned tofu as one of the sides to my bowl or plate. The lentils and spinach, while good, were chosen as sides many times, and I wanted something different. I tried the Korean broccoli and thought the garlic made it tasty and delicious. The customer service felt polite and appreciative. The employee wearing a Laker's cap kindly thanked us. I've never eaten inside because taking my order to go seemed more convenient. In terms of the setting, Umma's K-BBQ was clean with a few tables and chairs.
We ordered online for a party of four and everything about the process was smooth,super fast, efficient, and we even got a text notification right when our order was ready. I love it when when places are on top of it like that. I went with the mini bulgogi bbq beef plate with white rice, japchae, and spicy cucumbers. The bulgogi was tender, juicy, and has that hint of sweet and savory flavor. The japchae glass noodles had that slightly sweet and savory taste and the noodles were soft. Lastly, the spicy cucumbers were crisp with a mild kick of spice. Overall, everything tasted fresh and well prepared. It's one of those spots that's simple, consistent, and just hits the spot when you're craving Korean comfort food. We are definitely coming back to this one.
This was nearby, so I decided to stop in to try it. Inside was pretty small with about 2 dining tables. Luckily there wasn't a too long of a line, so I ordered within 5 minutes. I got the combo with beef bulgogi and meat jun and chose spicy cucumber, kimchi, tofu, and japchae for my 4 sides. The portion was quite big, but it was mostly because of the amount of rice that was given. The beef bulgogi was okay, I think it lacked a bit of flavor. The meat jun was pretty good, but that was my first time having it, so I don't have anything else to compare it to. The sides were pretty solid, but it'd be hard to mess those up. I think if there was less rice and more flavor in the meat, this would be a pretty solid spot. The staff was friendly and made the food quickly. Plenty of parking around.
Service is great, cashier was really helpful and friendly. It wasn't busy at all. There are a lot of choices and we went with the combo with meat Jun and bbq chicken. Everything was so delicious here. There is no space to eat inside but there's plenty of seating outside!
Umma's, is a Lake Forest gem. We are super happy to have them down further in South OC. Prior to Umma's, I couldn't get my Korean food fix unless I drove to, Irvine. Although Irvine isn't far, it's always busy and wait times are typically long for a table. Umma's is not a sit down restaurant but they do have tables right outside in that small plaza. Umma's offers individual platters, as well as catering/party sized food trays and marinated frozen meats. They have a lot of banchan here and they're so delicious. Portions are thankfully generous, so the food can be shared or will last 2-3 meals for yourself. For those of you needing gluten free, they do offer that option. Check out their website for gluten free items. Meats/entrees we love; 1) Vegetarian plate - I get this when all I want are all kinds of banchan 2) BBQ beef bulgogi 3) Spicy Pork 4) Spicy chicken 5) Kalbi short ribs 6) Chicken katsu - the katsu sauce is tasty I haven't tried the meat or fish jun yet, nor the bi bim bap, island shrimp and Soondubu tofu soup. Banchan that I love; 1) cucumber - my FAVE here 2) Cabbage salad - so good. I usually sub this instead of rice 3) Chapchae - delicious 4) Korean broccoli - perfect 5) seasoned tofu 6) macaroni salad - yum 7) seaweed salad - love it Umma's, is a great little place to satisfy my cravings for Korean food and I appreciate the portion to price ratio. I've never been disappointed. I don't have to smell like BBQ by the time I'm done eating so it's a win-win.

We also went with the Chicken Katsu and all mac salad. Order of Mandoo Dumplings. Everything we had was freshly prepared, and taste was spot on. The manager Christine was really helpful and very friendly. It's a small place on the inside however there is plenty of patio seating which was perfect. Highly recommend giving them a try! The pricing is very reasonable and trust me you will leave with satisfied. We will be back!!!
Umma's K-BBQ is a nice hole in the wall spot for yummy Korean food. It's located in a plaza with other take-out restaurants. The store itself is on the smaller side, but they have tables both inside and outside of the store. Service is always friendly here too. The spicy pork bowl came with rice, and two sides: I got japchae and cucumber kimchi. The food is fresh and delicious! Will definitely be coming back.

From the moment I walked in, I was warmly welcomed and my order was taken right away. The customer service was outstanding the cashier's recommendations were spot-on and truly phenomenal. I went with the combo plate: crispy chicken katsu, savory bulgogi beef, two scoops of creamy macaroni salad, and spicy cucumber. Everything tasted incredibly fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. One of my favorite Korean BBQ to-go spots! If you're looking for quality KBBQ with huge portions, look no further. This mom-and-pop shop gives you a ton of food for the price and has a really good selection to choose from. What I got: Beef/Galbi Combo Plate with sweet corn and spicy cucumber The portions here are huge, and everything was really good. The galbi and beef had great flavor, and I really liked the spicy cucumber on the side. For the amount of food you get, I think the value is definitely there. I'm giving my combo plate a 4/5. Absolutely love this place and glad I decided to grab it for dinner today! Definitely one of my go-to spots whenever I'm craving Korean BBQ without having to do the full sit-down KBBQ experience. read more

Felt lucky to find this spot when it opened and have been a consistent patron. Its been fun to watch it grow, the menu evolve, see new faces behind the counter, and all while, the food is solid. It's a takeout place and the service has always been patient and kind. The fish Jun is our favorite, and the banchans are tasty. Our favorites are the spicy cucumbers, mung bean, japchae, Korean broccoli, fish cake, cabbage salad - basically everything. The bulgogi is flavorful and savory thin slices of meat. Rarely fatty and gristle-y. Portions are good sizes with options to suit all appetites. When they joined the delivery services I knew we were in trouble because it makes it that much easier to get our Korean BBQ fix without the smoky clothes. read more

I gotta say it was as really good. The meals really reminded me of back home especially with all the Banchan. Been coming here recently. Their combo portions are really generous. You can get a bunch of protein and four side orders! And there area bunch of sides to choose from including kimchi, chapchae, fish cake and macaroni salad. Service is fast and friendly. It's been part of our regular rotation for a while now. I absolutely LOVE this Korean/Hawaiian take-out restaurant and the varieties that they have to offer. This is not a full service/dine-in restaurant. You can call in, order online or order in person. There are couple tables for seating outside. Food here is very satisfying and yummy! It is rare to find spots that serves Fish Jun or Meat Jun. Let alone find good Korean food spots in this area! Protein wise: I have tried and do love their Galbi, Bulgogi BBQ Beef (not too sweet like some places), Spicy Pork, Fish Jun and Meat Jun :) Chicken Katsu is on list to next try~ My fav banchans from Umma's are: Mac Salad, Seaweed Salad, Spicy Cucumber, Spicy Kimchi and Chapchae. Also, getting brown rice is at no extra cost! They have vegetarian and gluten free options here as well. Although price-wise it is a bit up there. They offer 3 sizes: Regular, Mini & Bowl. The Bowl is the smallest portion of the 3 sizes and offered at a decent price. For me when I get the regular size plate it is like a 2 meal in 1! OH, if you do not know this -- currently they do offer WEEKDAY SPECIALS: Mon-Fri from 2pm - 4pm 30% off all orders. This is totally worth going for and cost saving on food cost. I have even order lunches online for my work team of colleagues (over 20 orders). They do allow you to place order in advance up to 2 weeks for pick-up. There is a "special instruction" section putting in any notes you need or name for the orders. Online ordering is very convenient and the navigation is easy. When it comes to the day of pick-up, all orders were ready on time, prepared correctly, all labeled with what is in the order and the names :D Packaging is pretty eco-friendly. So glad no Styrofoam! Ginormous portions- we both got 2 meat combo and it was probably enough food for at least 4 meals. All the protein options were delicious, tender meat. My husband loved the kalbi, which I also enjoyed. I also liked the meat jun. This sides were all tasty - nice variety ranging from fish cakes, japchae, kimchi, Korean broccoli, bean sprouts - which is appreciated as sometimes it feels like it can be hard to find takeout options with lots of veggies. You can even choose cabbage salad as base instead of rice, which is awesome for those looking for low carb high protein meal. read more

Are the kal bi ribs beef? What's inside the fried mandu? Any lard or pork products in the chicken or kale bi combo plates (including sides)?
Hi, the kalbi is beef short ribs. The fried Mandu is a mix of vegetables, pork, and beef. There however is no pork or lard products in the other items except for spicy pork.
Can we buy extra sides?

Sorry for the late response. Yes, we offer small (8 oz), medium (16 oz), and large (24 oz). Respectively, the small is $4.95; medium $7.95; and large $10.95 plus tax. Kimchi and spicy cucumber may be less in oz because the sauce can spill out.
So you have any dishes and banchan that are allium free or could be made that way? I'm allergic to alliums 😩 (onion, garlic, scallions, shallot, chives, etc).
