    Galbeejjim / 갈비찜 (M)

Saturday afternoon. Lots of parking. No wait. Ordered the egg roll and shared the galbeejjim (medium size) for two - which was PLENTY. Their banchan is SO GOOD. Everything was super tasty and came out quick. Very clean and beautiful restaurant. Friendly and attentive staff. Til next time!

Found this hole-in-the-wall spot and I was thoroughly impressed. It's one of the better local restaurants in this area when you're craving Asian food but don't want to make the drive to Irvine or Garden Grove. I also love that it's a local mom and pop shop. Always great to support small businesses. The restaurant itself was very clean and surprisingly spacious inside, which I really appreciated. Food Kapop A light crispy Korean fried chicken covered in a sweet chili sauce. The chicken itself was very crispy and well cooked, but the sauce was a little overly sweet for my taste. Still very decent overall. Galbi Very good. Nice char on the meat and it fell right off the bone. It actually reminded me a bit of Hawaiian style galbi. Soondubu tofu soup Solid. Comparable to some places that specialize in tofu soup. Banchan Okay. Probably my least favorite part of the meal. I usually prefer stronger pickled or gochugaru flavors, but I can't complain since it came with the meal. Purple rice Loved it. I've always been a fan of Korean purple rice and this place did it really well. The rice was nicely flavored and cooked perfectly. Please come support local businesses !

I wanted something healthier, lighter, and nutritionally balanced without it being a salad and found just what I needed from HanBop. I was in no mood of cooking on a crappy rainy day before Christmas. The lunch boxes were beautifully packaged and presented. It was such a feast too! I ordered the grilled salmon, bossam, and spicy pork lunch boxes. Each boxes came standard with the delicious soup, purple rice, and different varieties of pickled vegetables. Some contained fried gyoza and others had salad as accompaniments. The bossam came with enough toppings to wrap the clean tasting pork. Loved it. Can't believe each boxes were less than $19/box for the amount of food it arrived with. Such a steal given how filling everything was and fun to try little bits of everything. Lastly, the service was friendly and efficient during the pickup process. The inside of the restaurant was brightly lit, clean, and spacious. Parking was free and available right in front of the restaurant which was perfect for the rainy weather.

Lovely, clean restaurant with modern decor. The staff is kind and quick with requests. I tried their cold noodle options and combo with the bosom and galbi. The banchan were bean sprouts, a jelly thing, Kim chi, and marinated celery (like brown cubed radish). Everything was delicious. I definitely will return.

Authentic Korean restaurant in Lake Forest area. I give this place a high score in term of food quality, consistency, flavors and fast service. Its a small restaurant , very clean inside. My favorite dishes are tofu soup, cold noodle!!, kim chi fried rice. What I love about here is that they have purple rice ( not regular white rice like other tofu soup place). The flavors always stay the same doesnt matter how many time I go here. 5/5!

So happy to find a Korean restaurant for a quick fix in lake forest! This place is better than Irvine places in my opinion. Came for an early dinner on Friday. Got the nengmyun Kalbi combo and it was delicious! The galbi portion was generous for a combo and actually was meaty!! Unlike other places where it's mostly fat. Their banchan were so good too! Tasted like home food . Definitely coming back!

Spicy pork bento box. Lunch special

Love love this neighborhood Korean restaurant. Small restaurant tucked in the Albertsons Plaza. I especially love their weekday lunch special. A combination of different textures of food and each one is so delightful. They give you purple rice, a choice of meat, cones with a few different banchan, sald, soup and appetizers like tempura shrimp, fried seaweed roll & dumpling. The price is between $15 and up. I was able to split my bento box for 2 meals. So happy this is nearby.

We didn't know this place was here, and saw the reviews so we decided to try it! We didn't know they opened at 5:30 and walked in early, but the lady who was there (maybe the owner?) was so kind and just sat us right away! We tried the Bali tea (yummy and tasted like toasted rice), ordered the pork belly bossam and bibimbop with spicy pork. Everything was delicious and the portions were great! This will be a regular spot for us.

I have gotten takeout and dined in here. Plenty of space and quick service. Parking was ample. Two words: Lunch Set! That's where it's at. It has a little (but a lot) of everything. Meats, banchan, rice, soup, salad. Perfect balance. You can mix and match your bite to your liking. I've gotten the spicy pork and kalbi here. The meats here are seasoned perfectly and cooked well. Spicy pork has enough spice for it to still be enjoyable. A surprising banchan you don't normally see or get at other restaurants is the pickled celery. What a nice crunch! Will def come back!

    Marinated salmon lunch special
    Katie T.

Came here to grab a quick lunch on a weekday and took advantage of thier lunch specials offered between 11am-3pm Monday-Friday. I got the Marinated Salmon lunch special which resembled a bento box. It came with rice, 2 pieces of kimbap, tamagoyaki/rolled egg, salad and a few pieces of various fried goodies (dumpling, seaweed roll, and shrimp). And of course we were also served some banchan for the whole table. It was a very satisfying lunch that filled me up for under $20.

HanBop is such a cozy hidden gem. The food is seriously like a warm hug for your taste buds! I got the tofu soup combo with beef short ribs and wow... easily one of the best tofu soups I've had in the OC area. My boyfriend went for the spicy cold noodles and he couldn't stop raving about them either. Everything is comforting, flavorful, and made with care. Can't wait to come back and try even more!

I work at a dermatology office and one of the brand reps brought us HanBop bento boxes! She explained that this place was one of her favorite mom and pop shops and I can definitely see why. I had gotten the Marinated Salmon bento and it was to die for. The Salmon was cooked perfectly and the sides were amazing. I have been to places where the kimchi was too fresh but the one here was fermented perfectly. My absolute highlight of this bento box though was the soup! Holy it was so good and I just kept wanting more. I would definitely recommend stopping by this place if you are in the area and grabbing one of the lunch special bento boxes, they're the perfect size and so tasty.

This is my second review for the same dining place, this time I took a bunch of pictures. I was first drawn to this place by its crab legs, but now I am fixated on its fresh sushi/sashimi bar and the yummy soupy clams! Looking at the small clam shell mountain sitting in front of me that I have created, I chuckled; sipping the same hot yummy clam soup broth, I felt recharged; the clams were fresh, tasty, and so delicious! I mush have finished one whole tray by myself! I started off by eating my salad which drew some criticism from my friend that I should skip the salad when at a buffet, but I love my veggies! The next plate comprised of mostly the stir fried and baked dishes. The black pepper beef was disappointing but the orange chicken was good; the beef ribs and the pork ribs were ok. If you have a sweet tooth, you will be satisfied with fresh fruits, jello, pastries, and the never ending ice cream! Our 9-year boy kept on going back and he even had one cone for the way home! Totally a kid pleaser! Empty plates were removed promptly, and the buffet dishes are monitored and refilled promptly as well!
