Spicy Tuna and Salmon (from top 5 menu)
    Winny K.

So happy there's an Atoyubu in this 99 Ranch! It's a great spot to stop for a quick bite. Service was friendly and helpful, and they kindly let us know that the portions are actually pretty large. I wasn't super hungry so I just ordered two items from Atoyubu's top 5 menu: the Spicy Tuna and the Salmon. Both were incredibly flavorful, fresh, and generously portioned, so very filling and satisfying. Can't wait to come back and try more menu items! Ambiance is casual, since it's a counter inside 99 Ranch, although this a super nice and spacious 99 Ranch. Grab yourself some Omomo too for a great food and drink combo!

Ranking: 1. Lemon pepper salmon- I liked the lemon pepper, salty and sour! 2. Bulgogi on fire - the spicy sauce on top is similar to the buldak sauce. There's a good amount of crispy things 3. Garlic butter crab - didn't really taste the garlic... Inari comes off so easily. As an inari conneuseur, the inari had the perfect bite, it wasn't too chewy or too soft, and it wasn't too sweet. The rice was soft and the flavor wasn't overpowering. They're huge, it's kinda difficult to eat unless you have a big mouth. It's inside the 99 ranch I'd come back again! It's kinda hard to find inari as good as this. The price is a little insane tho- $17 for 3.

Atoyubu translated from Korean means "gift of tofu skin". Located at the enterance of the 99-Ranch Market in Aliso Viejo this place serves up a large selection of tofu skin pockets filled with seasoned rice and topped with a protein and some sauces. I settled on 3 to try out. This is a TO-GO place as there is no place to sit inside 99-Ranch. Spicy tuna ($5.39) - Made with freshly chopped tuna and a special spicy sauce. I could tell the tuna was fresh, however I felt the spicy sauce was too much and spicier than I expected. Garlic butter crab ($4.79) - This consisted of imitation crab marinated in garlic butter with fried garlic garnish. I loved the taste of the garlic butter with the freshness of the crab. It was my favorite out of all the yubus I tried. Grilled bulgogi ($5.39) - This yubu was made with Korean BBQ style sweet and savory beef belly. The beef was so tender and flavorful. Overall, I enjoyed the taste of each of these yubus. The sea food was so fresh and the quantity was larger than another yubu spot I visited. I'd skip on the spicy ones as I found the sauce to be too overpowering and it took away from the freshness of the ingredients.

I forgot to take a pic before I ate hehe

I've had this place booked marked but another location for a while but I think this one just opened up near where I work?? I literally only tried the imitation crab one with the little fish eggs/popping boba thing (my boss said it was popping boba??? But it tasted like masago) It was so soft and fluffy and I inhaled it. I can't wait to come back to try the other ones!!!!

Awesome little diamond in the rough of 99 Ranch Market in Aliso Viejo. They have the most splendidly delicious Atoyubu! Would recommend in order of preference but all amazing!! 1. Lemon pepper Salmon 2. Fire Bulgogi 3. Salmon That's all you need to know. Very filling, fresh and full of flavor. The Bulgogi is spicy keep in mind for those with light pallets. Service is friendly, attentive and quick. Always stopping here when I come to the Ranch! Enjoy!

All the yubus (spicy pork, garlic crab, bulgogi, eel, spicy tuna)

Right as you enter the 99 ranch, it is on your right. It's a cute little counter and you can see the yubu being made. Everything is made to order and costs about $5 each. Pricey? Yes, but they are deceptively filling (that's a good thing!). I got about 5 and shared it with my husband and we were stuffed afterwards! FYI Some of the yubus they will use the torch on it so you get that charred taste. The flavors we got: - Spicy Tuna (4/5): I was warned by the worker beforehand it was very spicy. He did not lie! It is spicy, but still tasty! - Garlic Butter Crab (5/5): Creamy and yummy, super stuffed! - Grilled Bulgogi (4/5): Def got that char taste, but didn't mind on this one - Spicy Pork (5/5): Loved this one. Not AS spicy as the spicy tuna. Enjoyed it. - Grilled Eel (4/5): A BIT too sweet/charred for me, but still good. They didn't have some of the flavors available, but will definitely come back to try them! This place is a hidden gem for now. Took about 10 minutes to get my order, might take longer if there is a rush.

The store is located inside the 99 Ranch. The two flavors we got were Garlic Butter Crab and Grilled Bulgogi. We enjoyed both, but if I personally like the crab one more. The filling to rice ratio was perfect (thin layer of rice at the bottom). We waited around 10 minutes to get our food after ordering. It takes a little while as everything is made to order. There's no seating inside. However, you'll find a couple tables outside if you'd like to enjoy them right away.

I stopped by the new Atoyubu location that opened in Aliso Viejo (it's inside the 99 ranch market) and I can confirm that it is just as good as the other locations! I came a little late so I was unfortunately not able to get my favorite, the lemon pepper salmon, but it gave me a reason to try a different menu item, the popping salmon. I thoroughly enjoyed all the different yubus I ordered. The eel had a wonderful char flavor that really elevated the yubu. I have a decent spice tolerance but the spicy tuna definitely had a kick. I'd say it's like a buldak level spice. Tolerable but definitely builds as you eat it. If you still want something spicy but don't have a great spice tolerance I recommend the popping salmon as the mix of the spice with mayo mutes the spice to an enjoyable level. In terms of the service, the people working there are very nice and knowledgeable about their menu. There is unfortunately no seating indoors but you can find seating outside around the corner near marugame or omomo.

Located inside the new 99 Ranch supermarket in Aliso Viejo. Pros: - Made to order, you know that quality isn't compromised. Perfect size for a snack or have several as a meal. - Variety of flavors from cooked to seared to marinated raw. - Excellent service. They were more than happy to recommend and explain for those who haven't tried! This is my 1st time here, but I'm not unfamiliar with the food. - Price is reasonable for the kind of filling that they offer and they make sure to stuff each pocket generously. Cons: - Parking might be a pain if you go during peak time..but that's normal with the town center in general. - Since it's made to order, I can see that wait time might be a con in the future. - Eating it can get messy. Don't be fooled by the cute pockets. Tip: Get the myungran crab. It's the perfect amount of creamy, not too sweet with a toasty note from the scorching.

If you like inari, then you will be pleased with the assortment of choices at Atoyubu. I need to go back and try other options! The staff is very kind and explain their menu well. It's a small area in the corner right as you enter 99 Ranch, you can't miss it!

Finally got to try this place and see the new plaza. They've definitely invested a lot into building out this plaza and who isn't glad to have this Ranch99 and food court inside! Our favorite flavors were the grilled eel, bulgogi, and lemon salmon. I think the beef lamb one was too Mediterranean for me while eating tofu skins. The spicy ones are definitely spicy if you can't handle a big spice kick. They're pretty filling since there's a good amount of rice below but they definitely give you enough topping to be satisfied. Overall, definitely would recommend trying if you're in the area.

Such a fun way to have a snack before or after shopping at the supermarket! Fresh, delicious, and healthy for sure! They come in little big pickets of tofu packed with your choice of protein such as salmon, tuna, crab, and bulgogi. For a first timer, I went for the salmon. It came with rice and a light mayo (I think). The counter is located just at the entrance of the supermarket. It's plain you can almost pass it or even ignore it because it seems not even operational. The hours are limited. It is open from 11 am to 2 pm and 4 pm to 8 pm. It is worth giving it a try!

Fresh salmon was good. Lemon pepper salmon was ok.

We had high hopes for this place and love another place with inari sushi but this didn't quite meet the hype. Don't get me wrong. The sushi was fresh but the actual rice and tofu combo wasn't that great. Probably won't go here again since there are way better places. Otherwise, the service was great and everything else was fine. This place is located inside 99 Ranch, which can be a little confusing when you pull up. Also, the spicy tuna was drenched with sauce and was much spicier than expected.

We were immediately seated -- with a choice of sitting at the sushi bar or tables. The place is a bit cozy, so keep that in mind if you're planning on coming during peak times. They offer a full menu of traditional Japanese fare and a sushi list. They serve sake and Japanese beer. We ordered a handful of sushi rolls, nigiri, and tempura appetizers. All food came out fast, fresh, and hot (the tempura). What I really loved was that the crab used in the sushi rolls was really fresh. It didn't taste like the typical krab that other sushi restaurants use. It was really amazing. The nigiri melted in your mouth, and the tempura appetizer was cooked extremely well -- the shrimp wasn't floppy, the vegetable wasn't soggy. Just perfection. We're literally thinking about the next time we can come here! Thank you for serving awesome sushi :)

I asked for a side of plain rice, and the waiter agreed it was too much sauce. He apologized and brought the rice out right away, which I appreciated. It did take about 10 minutes to get my check, though, and I had to ask another server for it, which made me late getting back to work. Overall, friendly staff and good atmosphere, but service could be more attentive and the teriyaki sauce toned down.

First visit service was very slow, I waited a couple minutes in the restaurant before anyone even appeared at the front stand and once she did she didn't have the friendly energy I'm used to being greeted with when dining at Coco Ichibanya. Seemed very uninterested and straight faced during our interaction which didn't enhance my experience. Second visit here was last night. My friends and I ordered all our meals with cheese added on for an extra $1.50 each. Unfortunately we were disappointed to find that there was barely a sprinkle of cheese added to each of our meals. The keema CHEESE fries was the most egregious part, there was a small sprinkle of cheese in the top left corner of the fries and then literally nowhere else. We've gotten this order so many times from other locations and it's never been served this way before. Unfortunately this was a delivery order and there wasn't much we could do to rectify the situation. Definitely impacted the overall quality of the meal, especially the Keema cheese fries as the name would suggest it's supposed to come with cheese all over it not just on a few of the fries in one corner. As far as our curry, it didn't feel fair that we spent an additional $1.50 each for the cheese add on when we got the small amount we received. If this was my first time dining at Coco I would've just assumed they skimp on the cheese at this restaurant, but having dined at Coco so many times I know that this was absolutely a mistake or an oversight by this new location. Overall the food is good but it's absolutely not on par with the other locations yet. For $155 we weren't satisfied with what we received.
