You know what I'm NOT impressed with? People who are impressed with THEMSELVES. I don't care if it's your LOOKS, your MONEY, your DEGREE (or type thereof), your JOB, your CAR, your HOME, your NEIGHBORHOOD, where you've travelled to, who you KNOW, blah, blah, BLAH! If YOU are impressed with any or all of that, I guess you'll have to be impressed enough for BOTH of us, cuz that kind of crap doesn't mean SH*T to me! I've had intimate dealings with CEO's and Presidents of large corporations who are "just regular guys". On the other hand, I've been subjected (by themselves) to egotistical "nouveau riche" characters who think (OK, I'll put it POLITELY) that their "excrement doesn't smell" (but you know how it's normally said, doncha?). You know what DOES impress me? People who are THE BEST AT WHAT THEY DO, THE BEST IN THEIR FIELD. Why do I take the time to mention all of this? Because Dr. Umesh Gadaria is the BEST OF BOTH WORLDS: a "regular guy" who is the best there is. And that impresses me MOST OF ALL. I currently have a thumb wound that is being obnoxious, and won't go away like it's supposed to. So my first stop was to Pro Med, where the attending physician (we'll call him "Kid Doc") told me he'd never seen anything like it, and obviously had no clue as to what to do about it. So, whaddaya do when ya got no clue? You start spending your patient's money on stuff that's completely "non sequitur", like "taking X-rays, to see if you have any bone issues." BONE ISSUES? Yep, that's what he said. I'm not a doctor, but when you've got a FLESH wound and the Dr. clearly doesn't know what he's doing, why do you need your BONES CHECKED? Another thing I can't stand is people agreeing to pointless tests, whether they have insurance or not (actually, ESPECIALLY if they do). You need to be an INFORMED and EMPOWERED PATIENT. If a Doctor orders a test that's clearly "off-point", OVERRULE him; it's your body, it's your money, and you have the right. Needless to say, that's what I did. Kid Doc attempted to get me so alarmed that I'd go to the ER IMMEDIATELY; that's what he suggested. Again, I'm not a Doctor, but I DO know the difference between something immediately life-threatening and something that can be given time to heal. The ONE thing "Kid Doc" DID do right is refer me to Dr. Gadaria. Without exception, EVERYONE at Pro Med had nothing but the highest praise for this guy. Since he (Kid Doc) DID prescribe me some antibiotics, I opted to take 'em over the weekend (this was a Sat morning) and make an appointment with Dr. Gadaria on Monday, which is what I did. Ah, where do I begin regarding Dr. Gadaria? Let's start with his Waiting Room; HE DOESN'T NEED ONE. Why, you ask? Because I was shown to an exam room ON TIME! A Doctor who says "show up at 11:30", and actually sees you AT 11:30? Man, what a CONCEPT! So, at exactly 11:30, this guy comes to the door ya go through to get to the exam room and escorts me back. When we get there, HE DOESN'T LEAVE. Why? Because "the guy" IS DR. GADARIA. Dr. G employs no nurses; he does all the preliminary stuff HIMSELF. Not only does this undoubtedly cut down on his operating "overhead", but nothing gets lost in the translation, since he's the ONLY one you talk to about your health issue. Regardless of the Profession, I like a guy who has a "hands-on" approach. Very early on, he makes it clear that he's not gonna do anything unnecessary, in regard to tests or prescriptions. Insurance money, or money coming directly out of your pocket, it's SOMEBODY'S money, and he recognizes that. You folks that don't worry about needless tests when you go to the Dr cuz you're "not paying for it", due to your insurance? You need to realize you're contributing to your OWN higher premiums down the road. One way or another, ya ALWAYS pay for it. I encourage you all to be proactive in your health care. If you have doubts about a particular test or procedure, ASK WHY YOU NEED IT. Some doctors don't like it when the PATIENT starts "calling the shots", and those are the very doctors I try to avoid. Dr G also reinforced my decision to NOT have the X-Ray done, and to NOT go to the ER. He's not an "old" man, but he's probably been practicing medicine as long as Kid Doc has been ALIVE. Absolutely no question who I'd put more trust in, all things considered. To sum up: From the way he staffs his office, to the personalized service, to his "bedside manner", to his professionalism, my experience with Dr. Gadaria was first-rate, from start to finish. I give him the highest possible rating and endorsement. I almost wish I'd have another health-related issue that would require that I go back again. I said ALMOST! And Dr. Gadaria PROVES that you don't have to be a POMPOUS ASS to be a well-respected doctor, or well-respected in whatever YOUR calling is in Life. Dr. Gadaria treated my husband for a work related hand injury. This is what he wanted to say. My experience with Dr. Gadaria was pleasant. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. He was easy to talk to and deal with. Dr. Gadaria was always accommodating and listened to my concerns. After Dan came out of surgery, Dr. Gadaria spent time with me to speak in detail about each operation. He even took the time to draw a diagram of how he performed the 2nd finger surgery. Needing a great go-to plastic surgeon isn't at the top of most "to do" lists. So when my teenage son got a vertical cut above his eye, and I had not identified my go or plastics surgeon, I was nearly in a panic. So I called my good friend who is a nurse and asked her where she would take her son. Surprisingly, she recommended against taking him to Dell Children's hospital. And the reason was because she thinks so highly of Dr. Gadaria that told she would call him personally and arrange for him to meet us at St. David's hospital. Which he did! Dr. Gadaria was so attentive and gently explained to my son exactly what he would be doing as he sewed up the wound. He made our emergency calm! Dr. Gadaria gave us an in-depth consultation, repaired the damage with expert surgery and continued to follow up for weeks to make sure the healing was progressing as expected. Outstanding, after cutting his arm at work my boyfriend was referred to Dr Gadaria after the ER realized his injury was more severe then originally thought. Dr Gadaria was quick and effective in getting his arm stitched up and prepping for surgery, he was honest about how long his recovery would be, not only did the surgery go flawlessly, but his recovery was smooth and event free!!! I have had chronic pain in my hand and wrist which has, in the past, resulted in surgery to remove a ganglion cyst in the center of my palm. The pain returned and it seemed like I would need to have surgery again, so I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Gadaria. At the time I scheduled the appointment I was in the very beginning of a pregnancy. I also had really awful insurance with a very high deductible- so basically everything was out of pocket. When I called to schedule the appointment I asked the scheduler if it mattered that I was pregnant. I didn't want to spend the money on seeing the doctor if the doctor was unwilling to operate on a pregnant lady. The scheduler said she couldn't tell me whether or not Dr. Gadaria would operate on a pregnant lady and that I needed to come in and talk to him about it. So, I went in and immediately asked Dr. Gadaria if he would operate on me despite me being pregnant. He said that he has blanket policy of not operating on pregnant women except in life threatening situations. That question was the extent of my appointment. He couldn't help me. I didn't understand why this policy could not have been communicated to me by the front desk before my appointment. As I leave, I am asked to pay $200! I paid it but was so upset that I was in tears by the time I reached the elevator. I went back in and explained to the office manager that I really couldn't afford to pay $200 to ask a question to a doctor that could have been answered by the scheduler over the phone and that I would never have scheduled with Dr. Gadaria in the first place had I known he couldn't help me due to my pregnancy. The office manager was clearly annoyed, unsympathetic and unwilling to refund me the $200. I then asked to speak directly to Dr. Gadaria about it. He was far more graceful and understanding about it and told the office manager to refund my money. I was extremely grateful but the office manager went about angrily processing the refund all the while making it very apparent that she despised me for even asking. Fast forward a year later. I have given birth and finished nursing and the pain has intensified. I am now in a condition to have surgery and my insurance is now much better. I call Dr. Gadaria's office because he has the best ratings and because I remembered how he did right by me even though his office manager didn't want to. I try to schedule an appointment and after giving my name to the scheduler she puts me on hold. The office manager then picks up the phone and angrily says, "you came here last year and there was a problem. The doctor does not wish to see you as a patient" and then hangs up. I can only imagine that the office manager had wrote some nasty comment on my file that was flagged by scheduler when I called. I highly doubt that Dr. Gadaria was even asked whether he would take me as a patient. In short, the office manager is petty, short tempered, rude, unempathetic and holds grudges. This is a small office so you will most likely have to deal with her as a patient of Dr. Gadaria. It is because of her that I give this poor rating, and as the office manager is the face of this medical practice, I do not recommend that you go here. read more

Dr. Gadaria is wonderful...he's down to earth, knows him business and also a good bedside manner. I was referred to him after getting a dog bite assessed in the ED... it wasn't healing properly and was in the middle of my dominant hand ( I'm a RN and not having a huge wound in the middle of my hand is important.)from the moment of introduction I could tell Dr Gadaria was the real deal... he assessed my wound gave me options on treatment. I chose the least invasive option and happily it had worked! No surgery needed for me. I never felt pushed into making a decision I wasn't comfortable with. Dr. Gadaria was sure to review my health history to know if any other issues could be causing my current predicament. With my last appt with Dr G he made sure I felt comfortable with discharge from care. He also asked me what he could have done to make my care or interactions with him better. Dr. Gadaria suited my needs just fine. I had a fairly small injury (fractured knuckle) he assessed my hand and saw me at least 3 more times to make sure I was improving. I felt he had a very good understanding of my injury. The appointments were quick and to the point but he answered any concerns/questions I had. His staff are very friendly and welcoming! I would recommend him and his office based on my experience although I'm not sure about more severe injuries. That is the only reason I didn't give him all 5 stars. read more

I was referred to Dr. Gadaria after visiting some wound care folks after I had the misfortune of slicing part of my finger off (yup - I was stupid). I was sent there to determine if I would need skin grafts. My first thought was....Hmm, this is a plastic surgeon who makes money doing skin grafts - how much you want to bet he's going to think I need a skin graft. But I went to see him. Glad I did. Here is why... 1. First things first - no wait. I had several appointments with him. At each appt, I was either there on time or early. After I told them I was there, I had less than 1 minute of wait each time. 2. When it's time, he comes to get you and brings you back. No nurses asking you the same thing he's going to ask you two minutes later. He brings you to the room and starts you appointment. 3. He looks at your situation, sizes it up, and then makes a recommendation to you and asks what you want to do. He is the expert and tells you what he think needs to be done and then asks you what you want to do. Impressed with that. 4. He's not there to sell you his services - he's there to care for you. In my case, he basically told me it could go either way whether we graft or keep an eye on it and allow it to heal itself. I opted for letting the body heal itself and he was good with that. He never pressed me to get a service I didn't need and he discharged me as soon as it was clear that this wound was good - he didn't try to keep having me come back when it wasn't necessary. 5. He a a good, genuine, likeable person. That may not mean much to some people when seeing a doctor, but I prefer to be comfortable with the people I deal with and he was. Without an ounce of hesitation, I would highly recommend him to anybody in need of the services he provides. If I ever have another finger issue or have any need for plastic surgery, he will be my first call. read more

Dr. Gadaria is the best of the best. I am the world's worst at anything relating to blood. When I designed for a florist, I cut my right ring finger down to my nerves and tendon. He was so patient, caring & understanding about my anxiety about the whole ordeal. I thought I would never get my dominant hand back in working order, from the severity of the cut. Dr. Gadaria repaired my tendon and nerves and helped me through the emotional strain of deciding what was best for me and my recovery. He knew the perfect physical therapist and put me in touch with him as soon as he saw fit. I am immensely blessed to have been referred to him; so thankful to have my hand back! read more

Dr. Gadaria is seriously a one of a kind doctor, in a very good way. He does everything himself from getting you from the waiting room to diagnosing the kind of orthopedic issue you're having. I saw him for a work related wrist injury and he spent at least 30 minutes, my first appointment, describing to me and showing me exactly what he was talking about with pictures out of a book down to the exact muscle, ligament, and nerves that were causing my pain. I personally really appreciated this level of knowledge instead of a doctor just telling you what's wrong and a big worded explanation of why. I truly felt he cared about me by listening to what I said and also making sure I understood what was wrong with my wrist. He took the time to make sure I understood everything he explained. I also really appreciated his conservative approach to things. For example: recommending resting/a brace for awhile, then if not better then an oral medicine, then if not better injections, then if not better after all other options surgery. No one wants to go through surgery, so knowing that was a last resort was very relieving to hear! I would recommend him to any family member or friend! And my wrist is feeling much better! read more

It's year 2014 and women are no longer ashamed to admit they had plastic surgery so I'll admit to having an augmentation 04-05-91. Dr. Gadaria has the most wonderful bedside manner, when I woke up there was a dozen beautiful lavender roses sent from the doctor (the nurse told me he sent them to all of his female patients when he helps us with "the girls" yelp will not post my review if I use correct terminology so we will say the girls were augmented). Dr. Gadaria gave me the confidence I had been lacking and within two weeks of my surgery I started dating the love of my life. It was so much fun shopping for new clothes to fit my new figure and for the the trip to Los Angelos the man I was dating was taking me on and I owe it all to Dr. Gadaria. I told the doctor I didnt want to be too big and wanted to look natural and he did the perfect job. I'm 5'10 but very small boned with a very small frame so I didnt want to look unnatural and Dr. Gadaria knew exactly what size I should be. I found out how good Dr. Gadaria is because my brother cut off his finger when I was a senior in high school and the ER physican told my parents they called him because he is the best in Austin. My dad who is 67 years old is terrified of needles, doctors, hospitals..pretty much anything to do with medical care, so having to get hand surgery was the icing on the cake for him. We went to Dr. Gadaria recommended by my dad's primary doctor. My dad was a little hesitant about going to a surgeon but he had a wonderful experience with Dr. Gadaria. He was quick to answer any questions or concerns before and after dad's surgery. He made my dad feel safe under his care from beginning to end. I am very impressed of his true care for his patients! He did a great job with dad's hand problem. My dad needs surgery for his other hand and as soon as time permits, he will go to Dr. Gadaria again without fear, hesitation or worry.
