Unfortunately I had a really poor experience here, and I'd like to share so that future patients…read moreknow what they're getting themselves into. I wish that I could have had this information prior.. I was referred here regarding pain from an auto accident. I was aware of the hefty cost ($1000 for an initial consultation visit), but was willing to pay for this doctor's expertise and opinion in reviewing my injuries. I arrived early for my appointment, and was taken back to the room in a reasonable amount of time. After the nurse took my vitals, she informed me that Dr. V would be in to see me "in a few minutes." Well, the minutes ticked by with no sign of Dr. V. After about 20 minutes of waiting, the nurse came back in & said Dr. V would just be "a few more minutes." I wound up being back in the room for a full hour PAST my appointment time when Dr. V finally bothered to come in, at which point the wait time was not acknowledged. We reviewed my history briefly, and he said really to formulate his opinion, I would need to go back and get two more MRIs so that he could see the full spine (I had already gotten one MRI). That was pretty frustrating, because I had specifically called prior to my appointment to confirm with his staff that they had everything that they would need for Dr. V to provide an opinion. I offered to go back and get additional MRIs done if that was going to be needed, and even requested they check with the on-site nurse at the time, to see if they would be helpful. After holding, I was reassured that just the one MRI was enough and I should come into the appointment to see Dr. V. Okay, so now I've paid $1000 out of pocket, just for him to tell me to go get two more MRIs. Cool. So I went and got the MRIs, & went back for a follow-up visit (which is an additional $600). Again, I arrived right on time and was taken back reasonably. Again, the nurse did her job and left me to wait for Dr. V, who would be in in "just a few minutes." This time, I was waiting for over 40 minutes in the room before Dr. V came in. The thing about Dr. V ~ he does not have good bedside manner. He'll make small talk with you, but he's not looking at you nor listening, rather, pulling up your file, making notes, etc. In the first 5 minutes of my time with Dr. V, he pulled his cell phone out of his pocket to check it three times. At the third occurrence, I asked him if I was interrupting anything, to which he replied no, that the hospital keeps calling him and he doesn't know why. Again, no acknowledgement of my wait time nor the lack of consideration in checking his phone when I was paying handsomely for his time. Well, he reviewed those MRIs and ultimately said that there's nothing he can do for me as far as treatment goes, and referred me to Pain Management. On my way out, I spoke with the office manager, and outlined my concerns. I was very gracious and understanding, but shared that I do not think my time was respected. I have a life - a job, a family - to plan around in order to make these appointments work. Not only was I not seen at the promised appointment time, but left in a room to wait for multiple hours over the course of just two visits. I courteously asked for a credit to my bill as consideration for MY time. I was given a lot of empathy, "I get what you're saying & I agree," and she offered to share the feedback with Dr. V and call me back. Of course, she did not call me back, so when I reached her back she again gave some apologies and acknowledgement, and said that she reviewed with Dr. V and they had decided that they were unable to credit my account balance. So, I cannot control what's on the MRI, but he has the audacity to charge me THOUSANDS of dollars for less than one hour of his time, yet refuses to acknowledge that MY time is worth anything at all. In summary, this establishment: * Does not value their patient's time * Supports a doctor who checks his phone while in the room w/ a patient * had a crappy blood pressure cuff that they literally asked me to hold in place so it wouldn't fall off Patients BEWARE

I came to her practice last summer, 5 years post surgery with yet another herniated L5-S1 disc (same one as before) at the ripe old age of 35. Not only did she diagnosis the current problem, but really dug into my lifestyle and worked to figure out the why as to what could have caused a re-herniation again so soon. Then she developed a thoughtful plan of what actions she would recommend taking to prevent it from happening again in the future. She uses a fabulous combination of eastern and western medicine, integrating Chinese herbs/medicine, acupuncture, meditation, diet and lifestyle. My back is healed up, I'm down 20 pounds, and I've learned what to look for in terms of stressors and diet/inflammation factors and what a lasting impact they can have on your body. Additionally, she is at the fore-front of cutting edge technology with her stem cell research. Most people (rightfully so) are terrified of surgery, especially when its on your spine/nerves. I never felt anything but trust and safety when I was in Marcella's care. Obviously, I hope I never have to have surgery again, but if I did, I'd find a way to fly to Austin for her to be my surgeon again and again.

It was so bad that they gave me post op instructions twice that were to walk as weight could bear as soon as possible after surgery, only to have them completely reverse that hours after getting home. They misbandaged my knee after surgery to completely undo the work of one of the three procedures. They told to not call them the first night and I had the most painful experiences of my life because the pain pump didn't work (and I've had a kidney stone). Billing issues were rampant including double charges and more (two sets of crutches, really?!). Front desk treated me like I was faking an injury that required three surgical procedures. The PA was rude and would give contradictory instructions. I was told to come for PT but then told after first post-op PT I shouldn't do PT for some time yet and blamed me for their mistake. I very strongly do not recommend this doctor or his practice for anything. If anyone at his practice told you the sky was blue, you can be assured it's not. Believe the bad reviews.

Previous to this last surgery, I had extreme pain (unable to walk from sciatic pain, "recliner-ridden" for 4 weeks). Dr. Spann laid out the options, gave straightforward and thoughtful analysis, and reassured me that the results could be positive. I expected top-notch diagnostic and surgical care, and got it, of course. Up and walking without pain the day of surgery, recovery pretty brisk (stick with the PT, guys: ATI staff in the same office were brilliant, highly recommended...). What I didn't have any reason to expect was the personal commitment by Dr. Spann, his assistant Amy (why can't I remember her last name??), and his phenomenal PA-C, Joseph Hagen. This team was available literally 24/7 (especially Joseph) prior to the surgery, advocating for me with insurance, fine-tuning meds in the meantime, and checking in with real interest for 12 months of follow-up. Dr. Spann has gone through this himself, which I believe adds a bit of empathy, but the entire team and front office simply couldn't have been more supportive, professional, competent. She is so easy to talk to, personable, knowledgeable... and she can sure hit a vein! They once called her up to my hospital room to insert a new IV and I was thrilled to see her again! I've had previous experience with Donna and she's always wonderful. I had two doctors. My surgeon, Dr. Alex Santos, is amazing doctor! Performed a very difficult removal of a gallbladder the size of a baseball. Very attentive. The on-site doctor, Dr. Laney, is probably one of the most caring doctors I have ever encountered in a hospital. He was always nearby. Great bedside manner. You can tell this man truly loves helping people. My nurses were like superheroes. They did everything they could to make sure I was as comfortable as possible during a time when I was experiencing the worst pain of my life. I can't say enough. James handled my first (and most intense) night like a champion. He even had me doing breathing exercises with him. He was born to do what he does. I can't thank him enough! The other nurses were all wonderful with the exception of one! The last nurse I had, Dan, was the polar opposite of every other nurse. Dan was beyond rude. I fell that he chose the wrong profession. He did and said so many ugly things, I don't even have the energy to type it all! But he shouldn't be a nurse. I wouldn't even want that man making me a latte. For now I will assume Dan is gone, or he was having the worst day of his life, because so many other ppl here need 5 stars. But he would get 1. The woman who made my meals was also darling! She found out I was vegan and after a day... she had done her research and added things to the menu special just for me! Just above and beyond! But of all the staff, the one who holds my heart is the Tec, Curtis! Curtis was there for me through it all. He was kind, compassionate, witty, caring, and he was ahead of everything that was happening. Always making sure I had what I needed and was doing what I needed to do. He even helped me walk the halls during recovery. I will miss him dearly and hope I can somehow thank him for being there with me through something so difficult. Thank you Curtis! You're my MVP. And thank you to the entire staff (not Dan) for everything you did for me! I will only use this hospital from here on.

I become very ill 2 years ago and developed a idiopathic falling disorder to which I still suffer from. I also have a high pain tolerance. When I was 41 years of age, I broke my hip. It was non traumatic when it happened. Unbeknownst to me I had severe osteoporosis. My femoral hip broke just from standing up so fast. Then of course I fell to the ground. And had to have surgery. It had to be done ASAP in order to stop any chances of infection. The very next morning they had me walking up and down the hospital with a walker. It was like a walk in the park to me and I didn't even need extra pain medicine at that point. They use two plates two rods and 12 screws. My point for bringing this up is I have a very strong pain tolerance and for you to understand the rest of the story you can kind of gauge of where I'm coming from.when I had my 3 tier spinal fusion on April 12th that's when I was at the mercy of the hospital and a very poor nursing staff. Let me start by telling you, when I woke up from surgery I thought that I was just going to die. I couldn't believe the amount of pain I was in. Then I come out to find the nurses saying hold on will get you some pain medicine. Really people? Anytime I needed to use the bathroom or a bed pan it would take up to 30 minutes sometime for someone to come they always shut the door so nobody hears you. When I was done I would ring the button and nobody would come by the time it was over 20 minutes I was screaming crying and begging them not to ignore me to come help me. They came when they heard that. They treated me physically rough and had no sense of compassion whatsoever. The first night there I was scolded like a six-year-old because I brought my own medication to show them so they would know what I needed. They try to embarrass me and talk about each one of how many there was and write it down. I wasn't embarrassed every single thing I had was a prescription from a doctor. She asked the nurse next to her to sign it, and the nurse + why. And the older nurse said it's just procedure just sign it. That's when the bell started going off in my head. They had no idea that I was a medical professional of 20 years. They did not in-service any of the staff on how to gently move me or pivot me. That should've been a regulatory thing for them to do before trying to help me move. They did not do this. So every time they move me it was like agony every second. Then they would get annoyed because I couldn't get up fast enough for them and say things under their breath. The one time I had a bowel movement in my bed pan and I heard the nurses complaining and she was cursing saying I don't get paid enough shit to do this. Then on many occasions I heard the nurses arguing over who was going to toilet me. One because I take so long and two they didn't like having to lift me up. And you could hear them down the hallway arguing about this. And this one the door was open. I weighed 135 pounds soaking wet. So I was not heavy at all for two people to lift. Yet they bitched Mont to complain about it and so they started sending in mail staff only. Everyone of the male staff or wonderful nurses treated me kindly and did not hurt me. All the females were exactly the opposite. And I never got my medication's to where I was supposed to. I would ask and explain ask and explain and tell them to compare the ones they took. But it didn't happen that way. I had to call my husband twice and then when the physician assistant came in he was all angry at me because of it. I know that my rights were violated especially the Hyppa ones. The way they treated my physical body was abusive. The fact they argued over who had to deal with me like I was a hard patient or something. I totally know what it takes to take care of a patient and I always thank them and tell them how much I appreciated them. It didn't matter they were still always annoyed to help me. Then The physician assistant try to make me go home early when it was just two days after my surgery. Mind you I couldn't even sit up by myself. He said everybody comes home after a couple days. I explain to him I am not everybody. So I was able to get two more days of doctors care. I was asked if I felt safe going home. I told the nurse "NO" . She asked why. I explained that I couldn't do anything by myself, not even able to sit up by myself. Her first response was "Are you scared of your husband? It took every ounce of my control not to yell at this woman. As I was sat up by the nurse and my husband I was in agony. The woman nurse acting like she gave a rats ass! All a show just for my husband. It took a full week for them to wash me after sweating from the physical part of the surgery. I also needed 2 blood tra

My pain required me to take opioid pain medication a few times per month in order to function properly. After consulting with Dr. Dumitrescu, he created a custom plan with the intention of stopping my pain at the source instead of treating with medication. We completed the plan last week and it's been over three months since I've had to take any pain meds. This is the longest I've gone without the need for meds in over ten years. What sets Dr. Dumitrescu apart from the other places is his dedication to looking at all aspects of healing the body. We started with a few minor outpatient procedures combined with physical therapy, supplements, and hormone medication. We have now moved into a strength building program in order to help prevent future back injuries or issues. I could not be more delighted with the results and being pain-free. The physical therapist, Katie, is absolutely wonderful to work with. If you're experiencing pain, I highly recommend visiting Dr D and having a consultation. He will look at the big picture and is clearly very driven to help people lead a happier, healthier life.

This is not a 10! The current team is great. However, years ago, I too had problems with the front desk. It is rock-solid there now, it's a pleasure to work with them. They are absolutely part of the solution and not the problem! Doc runs a tight ship, my improved condition is directly related to the care I get here. As an aside, I have been dealing with a circulatory issue (plantar edema) for several years. After seeing a couple of doctors, with the only solution being compression and elevation I was frustrated. Working with the blood side of the practice, it turns out I have an endocrine issue! Who knew a pain doc would find that? Performance above and beyond any reasonable expectation.
