I came to her after a car accident and a disappointing experience with another neurologist who dismissed my symptoms as anxiety and refused to order imaging. Dr. Wingrove did thorough in-office testing, saw red flags for spinal cord damage, and ordered the imaging that confirmed severe compression in my cervical spine. Her care quite literally changed the course of my health. I needed surgery, and without her, the condition would have gone undiagnosed and worsened. She's also responsive via the patient portal and open-minded to different treatment options. I'm beyond grateful to have found her and can't recommend her enough if you're dealing with neurological issues.

They advised me to see a neurologist, nephrologist, and a vestibular therapist ( I had BPPV). and an ENT. I met with an ENT. Then worked with the vestibular therapist, then finally called Dr Reading in July. Even though I was an existing patient, the earliest appointment I could get with her was October 22! My appointment today was an exact script of information that she gave me last January before my fall and concussion. She did not listen to what I was saying about my symptoms being much worse and continuing to decline. She talked so fast that both my husband and I could not process what she was saying. She treated me like I was wasting her time. The memory test she gave me was an abbreviated version of the same test she gave me last January...with the exact same questions. I took a summarization report from my Physical Therapists(3x a week from June through October) that she barely glanced at. In short, if you are looking for answers and someone who seems to care...don't waste your time waiting to see Dr Reading. I'm searching for a second opinion from a different neuroligist ( not that I feel like she gave me an informed opinion of my personal problems.)

I have had the hardest time with neurologist for whatever reason. They all seem rude and arrogant. Not him. I immediately felt welcomed and in great hands when I first saw him. I have had epilepsy since I was 12 and am now 32. He told me so many things about my disorder that I had no idea about. The first thing he did was a 3 day EEG. He was surprised I had never had one and even more surprised I had no idea what it was. He was ok with me staying on the meds I was currently taking as my seizures were controlled. I was planning on getting pregnant and he successfully made the switch of meds smooth and seizure free. I unfortunately suffered from PPD. He amazingly diagnosed it. I would think a psychologist would but he knew right away and prescribed me something. I immediately felt better and myself again. For that I will always be grateful. I was also becoming extremely exhausted. I shrugged it off as being a new mom. He knew I need to come down on one of my meds. Again, I felt so much better and seizure free. Bottoms line- I urge anyone who struggles with epilepsy to see him. You will most likely hear things you haven't before about your disorder. Make sure to schedule your time accordingly because you will wait a while. Which is a good thing. He spends a lot of time with you.

Dr STOKES WOULD NOT SEE ME IN HIS OFFICE. THERE WAS NO INTAKE, THERE WAS NO 'BEDSIDE MANNER'. THE WOMAN WHO CALLED ME BACK SPENT 10 MINUTES TELLING ME WHY HE DID NOT SEE ANY POINT IN MEETING WITH ME. I'VE BEEN ON 80MG OF Hydrocodone since 2000. In January, my primary care said he wanted to turn me over to a 'spine specialist'. First I saw a Dr. Church at Capitol Pain Institute, who was a dream. We were titrating down to 60mg... Dr Church was compassionate, caring and he LISTENED and researched my condition. After that, the OWNER of CPI, a dr Shockett said he fired Dr Church, slashed what Dr. Church has as my current medications by half, and did nothing whatever to HELP me. Did not recommend surgery, did not suggest therapy. HE TOLD ME HE DID NOT EVEN KNOW IF I WAS REALLY IN PAIN. I AM in pain, but I'm more concerned with continuing to live, and be able to WALK. I don't want to be bed ridden, as Dr Schokett has left me when he apparently changed my history? I'M NOT SURE WHAT'S HAPPENED WITH SPINAL CONDITIONS, THE DOCTORS IN AUSTIN, TEXAS WON'T EVEN TAKE PATIENTS? I'M HAPPY TO SHARE MY MRI RESULTS TO ANY DOCTOR WHO WILL TAKE ME AS A PATIENT.

What impressed us about Dr. Stokes and his staff: (1) He didn't rush to suggest surgery, he wants to gather more information (including more testing) and get a very complete picture before recommending a treatment plan. Some other surgeons just recommended fusion surgery without looking as deep. (2) He pulled up a 3D spine model on his large iPad and showed us the anatomy of all the parts and what's causing the pain. I can't overemphasize how helpful this was to our understanding. It's a far cry from a static illustration, or even a handheld model. (3) He spent a lot of time with us and we never felt rushed. (4) His P.A., Katie, similarly spent a lot of time with us, wanting to know everything about T's problems and health history in order to get a full picture. The only problem was that we'd returned some of the new patient paperwork by emailing back a PDF (that they haven't yet put on the web), to the LVN, and the LVN emailed back that he got it and entered it, but when we arrived at our appointment, staff insisted repeatedly that it wasn't in the system...until they eventually found it.

I'm looking for a neurologist to have a "relationship" with and those take time. My condition (TN) will hang with me for the rest of my life. We changed my medication after discussing options. I had to ask her to repeat a couple of times due to the language difference, but that did not bother me in the least. My Texas accent can be challenging sometimes too. I would certainly recommend Dr. Aubrechtova and plan to go back. Regarding the bad reviews, sometimes I think we just be a little nicer to our health care providers and cut them some slack.

I sat and waited for Dr Cook for more than an hour on May 25, 2023. No one seemed to care how long I had been there, so I went up to the receptionist, and identified myself as a new patient again and also to let them know I was experiencing a very long wait for an appointment that should have happened an hour ago. The response was oh he's in surgery today. So although I was very perturbed, I brushed it off and rescheduled. Today is June 15th. Today as I walked in again to check in, I was approached with the same paperwork to fill out again that was unused the last time. I tried making an office clerk aware that I had already filled that out the paperwork the first time I had been there less than a month ago. She wanted me to redo the paperwork. I told her I wasn't having it and that my paperwork should be somewhere in my file. After several attempts of trying to get a few words in to this lady, I finally just buttoned up Fired Dr Cook then gave the lady a little piece of my mind. Surprisingly, there were approximately four or five other ladies at this massive counter and not one tried to take over, or try to interrupt the lady to explain to her that she was being rude and unprofessional by assuming and interrupting. It's beyond my understanding how anyone that works in a medical staff will assume anything. As I was leaving, I asked Dianne if you could have Dr Cook call me so that I could explain why he was no longer going to be my neurosurgeon, they told me that he was running about 45 minutes to an hour late again today. No one called me however in a Baroness Dianne did tell me I should call and see if he's behind schedule today. At that point, I knew that this relationship wasn't gonna last and he wasn't gonna have a job with me. I'm trying to understand, and I know that I am a bit frustrated right now, but would it be so wrong for me to think that it's the doctors staffs responsibility to place a call and say hey we're running late today. We know that you are busy as well, so we wanted to see if you could come by a little later, as opposed to being here in an office, sitting down, staring at other people that are doing the same thing. From what I understand my procedure has been estimated in about half $1 million. This is the worst medical staff in Austin, Texas and by the looks of things Dr Cook doesn't seem to give a rats ass about any of his patients, New, and I would imagine existing as well. If you were considering neurosurgery look elsewhere. Don't let the beautiful office space fool you. This is not the place if you're a busy person or keeps schedules and appointments like I do! Good Luck!
