After years of waiting, I went in for a consultation with Dr. Ebert regarding my ankle. He gave me options and did an amazing job explaining the pros and cons of each. After lots of consideration, I went with the ankle fusion surgery. Being relative young for ankle surgery of this nature (44) I was very nervous, but he and his staff were able to answer all of my questions. I ended up calling several times with many questions both before and after my surgery with them. Each time I go in, all staff members are very personal and make me feel very comfortable. It's comforting to know that after a surgery of this nature, I can call and get all of the questions answered. read more

He seemed nice enough but he did not listen to why I was there. He gave me a diagnosis that was a secondary issue to the problem that I was actually there for. He took X-rays when I already had them done and he could have viewed them. read more

I don't question Dr Ebert's medical skills, but his office is a dumpster fire. Be prepared for waiting extended times for appointments and don't expect prompt return phone calls. I tried to get a surgery scheduled with Dr Ebert and after waiting two weeks to hear from the scheduler, I opted to go with another surgeon at a different medical practice. A second opinion is worth the time. If you want reasonable customer service, select another medical practice. This office is an absolute "dumpster fire." read more

Avoid this doctor. 90 minutes behind schedule for all appointments. Chaotic waiting room with people yelling at staff because they have been waiting hours. Do not release records in a timely manner. Had to threaten them with HIPA violation to see my MRI record. Tried to cancel an appointment, but they don't read their messages, so they charged me anyway. Wrote down incorrect information in my files. Doctor was with me 5 minutes and didn't listen to me, after I waited 90 minutes. read more

Dr. Ebert did surgery on my foot recently. I'm over 70, I'm good health, and mobile before my foot injury. I was sent home in a cast with instructions not to bear weight for 6-8 weeks. As much as I tried to prepare, it wasn't enough. I need outside therapy. The office never suggested home health or inpatient rehab. Making transitions to the shower, a chair, the car, etc. are scary. I'm a definite fall risk. For over a week, I have tried to get my records faxed to the rehab facility. The office says they are already faxes, but the rehab does not have them. I've called the doc many times and so has the rehab. My family, friends and I are angry that I wasn't offered therapy, directions for home care, and that the office has been so unresponsive. I would not recommend Dr. Ebert. read more

Both my pre-surgery and surgery experiences with Dr. Ebert's office were a 5. Don't have your surgery in Dec. before the holidays, though, if you know you're the type to ask recovery questions. Even after the holidays, responses to my questions were minimal. Appts. are similar - have any questions ready and expect staff to come in and out quickly. Get orders to set up home health before surgery so you have someone following you within a few days. My husband had a much better experience in early Fall 2022. Perhaps it was the timing of his surgery and/or Eastman (sp.) was still there and great at answering questions. read more

Dr. Ebert and his staff are great. I fractured my ankle in three places and it was a severe injury. I was in a lot of pain. Dr. Ebert got me in for surgery as soon as we got the swelling down. I was really afraid for surgery but all the staff were really kind and making me feel more comfortable. I had two plates and 13 screws put it. Everything is healing up really good and my healing has been going right on track. Office visits are fast and his clinical assistant always calls me back promptly. read more

After the first appointment I figured a wait of 1.5 hours had to have been abnormal. The first time around I saw Dr. Dodgin for some knee problems. After the extended wait and "we don't know what the problem is attitude" they sent me to get an MRI. The MRI revealed a meniscus tare and they gave me a shot. That was over a span of two visits. 3rd visit was with Dr. Ebert for an ankle injury after running the 3M half marathon. After another 1.5 hour wait I got the same "we don't know what the problem is attitude" as the first time. The final verdict was "wear a boot for 3 weeks" and come back and see us. This place just sucks! From the crappy long waits to the Dr's who don't give a crap, I will never come back to this place again. My Physical therapist also will no longer make referrals to this office as I am not the only patient of his who this happened to. read more

Stay away! He performed an Ankle debridement on me. He acknowledged handling my nerve and actually damaged it! I had extreme pain for months that he ignored. A 2" section had to be removed and reconstructed by a different surgeon. I asked for my medical records, he did not even note that I had nerve damage or complained of of it. But he filled a prescription for nerve meds. He can't or won't acknowledge he made a mistake. Lied about it on permanent records. He is the most unethical doctor I have ever seen. read more

Dr. Ebert did hammertoe surgery on my left foot (four toes) in Jan '13. I am thrilled with the results. Four months later I wear whatever shoes I wish and have no discomfort. After 5 years of rock climbing, I done gone and managed to get myself injured. In an odd twist of fate, my injury was similar to the one my wife suffered two years ago, so we knew just where to go after I got out of the ER. All of my initial thoughts still apply the second time around; It'll take you a few days to get an appointment, but it's worth it. Actual facetime with Dr. Ebert is brief, likely because of the number of patients he sees in a day, so come prepared with questions. Never watched me walk, looked at Xrays and ordered MRI and CT Scan and kept moving me toward a full ankle replacement and dodged the substance of my questions about longevity and long term prognosis of the procedure. I am appalled at how I've been treated as a patient. I had surgery with Dr Ebert on 12/13/16. My 2 week post op visit was with his PA (fine - although you'd think you'd see the dr at least once), and I was told that I would see Dr Ebert at my 6 weeks checkup. I made the appointment for the 6 week follow up a month in advance, I get called a day before to tell me I'll be seeing the PA. After arguing on the phone, I was told I could see Dr Ebert on 03/13/17. ARE TOU KIDDING ME? He has not seen me once since the surgery and I am still swollen and in pain. He didn't even see me after the surgery - no one did. I had to ask a nurse how the surgery went and she had to find someone who knew. Disgusting!! All about money money money and how many people can possibly squeeze into a day. I cannot believe that a Dr performs surgery and doesn't even bother to see you or even return calls. I'll be seeing another ortho for a follow up. Absolutely shocked. read more

He seems good as a Dr however his nurse refused to fill out any leave paperwork causing me to have to file an appeal and not lose my job. Her response to me was put the boot we gave you on your foot and sit at your desk and work WOW Super bad treatment at this office. I found a much better doctor to treat my injury which btw I had a MRSA infection in this foot in March...soooo umm telling me to just boot it without doing a complete exam etc is pathetic!!!!! read more

I'm a great reader, but a TERRIBLE writer, so bear with me. :) Dr. Ebert, his PA Lauren, and all the staff at Orthopedic Specialists of Austin do a great job. Someone is always there to answer my calls with no waiting. First time I called with questions after my first Morton's Neuroma surgery I expected to leave a message, but no, his MA was right there, called me back promptly with answers. Dr. Ebert and Lauren look you in the eye, do a thorough exam and give you all the information you need. I've never felt rushed during an appointment. I'm a horrible anxiety-ridden patient, but he and his staff are very patient and listen to all of my concerns. My procedures at Hyde Park Surgery Center went very well and the staff there are very professional and upfront about costs, etc. Very clean and modern facility. I really can't say enough nice things about this group! I highly recommend Dr. Ebert. Thanks Dr. Ebert and all of your great staff! Update 1/30/16 Well, things have changed since my surgery. I'm now seeing a doctor for chronic pain as result of my surgery. My whole foot burns constantly. Instead of the localized neuroma pain, I now have my whole foot hurting. No one at the orthopedists would tell me what this was, and through a quick Google search, it sounded like Complex Regional Pain Syndrome. Neurologist quickly diagnosed me, Pain Management doctor confirmed the diagnosis. Not real happy with the fact that at appointments Lauren would just shake her head, "I have NO idea what's wrong, here's a rx for orthotics". Maybe there was no way to avoid this outcome, there probably WAS no way to avoid it, but I would've appreciated them being up front so I could've started treatment sooner than later (which makes a huge difference with CRPS). read more

Dr. Andrew Ebert is truly a godsend. I had a dislocated ankle and a lower fib break. Which he mended with surgery, a metal plate and some screws. The pain management after surgery went incredibly smooth. I only took pain meds for 24hours after. Over 3 months later my pain is manageable to non-existent. His staff is friendly, knowledgeable and comforting. I feel truly fortunate to have found such a wonderful surgeon. He has taken very good care of my injury. I sustained a Lisfranc fracture-dislocation in December. It was a Saturday, so I went to DOC (Direct Orthocare) instead of the ER. I highly recommend Dr. Pember. He told me I would be having surgery, and referred me to his go-to foot surgeon, Dr. Ebert. Since it was right before Christmas, and I needed a CT scan before surgery, I had to wait until January for the actual surgery. Dr. Ebert is extremely busy, but he, Lauren, and Eastman are so wonderful, and if you ask questions, they are more than willing to spend more time with you. Lauren took time to go over my x-rays, my CT scan, and surgical report on my last visit, and I appreciate that so much. I like to know everything, and I normally ask at the first appointment, but this injury had me so stunned and happened in such a whirlwind, it took a few months for my brain to catch up. Eastman has gone above and beyond helping me fill out paperwork. He responds quickly whenever I call or email with questions. Dr. Ebert phoned my mother when I came out of surgery to let her know how it went and to let them know they could pick me up. Nowhere to wait during Covid. I feel I couldn't be in better hands. read more

DO NOT ignore the ratings here that talk about wait time. I left after 50 minutes of waiting. They took my copay first (which is a nice trick to force you to wait) and I eventually got a refund and will find another practice. I wasted not only that 50 minutes, but I filled the paperwork out before hand and left work early. It was apparent from those around me that I was not the only person that had been waiting a long time. Assuming that the other low ratings related to tardiness are true, it appears this practice overbooks patients. Not cool. read more

My wife was kept waiting for more than an hour, with considerable pain, missing her office in the peak and the doctor does not show up...and what is the practice of charging up front without allowing you to evaluate the service?! Dr. Ebert is my sixth Orthopaedic surgeon after being born with "club foot" deformity and undergoing ten reconstructive surgeries. Needless to say I've spent hours at many doctors' offices since birth, and Dr. Ebert has been one of my favorites! I have been incredibly impressed by Dr. Ebert.....he is kind, very professional and has helped me with continued management of my foot problems without automatically jumping to further surgery. I had a broken ankle, therefore surgery was needed and I was lucky to find Dr. Ever he is a person send by god with great skills and a big heart. He did surgery to put my foot back on place with some screws and a plate this procedure was a success and the recovery was very smooth and pain less. Thank you Dr. Ever. read more

Each time I have been to this office, I have had to wait at least 45 minutes after my scheduled appointment time before I got to see Dr. Ebert. He did not seem to have the facts straight about my condition, and did no follow-up. After the xray was inconclusive, I had to insist on an MRI, which finally helped with the diagnosis. Had I not done that, he would still think it was Morton's Neuroma. Turns out it was a bone bruise. Instead of giving me any instructions on how to alleviate the pain, he sent me to another doctor. I had to figure out on my own to get a medical boot. A year later, I am still unable to walk and I am switching doctors. He came highly recommended, but he may be a skillful surgeon, but not a great doctor. Not going back. read more

Dr. Andrew Ebert is a skilled, professional, experienced and well-respected orthopedic surgeon. An added bonus is that he's a pretty regular guy. I found him via two of the best foot and ankle specialists in the country: Clanton in Houston and Deland in NYC. He is about 25 years their junior -- which I see as a HUGE benefit. He has already made his mark earning awards and accolades amongst his colleagues -- yet his office is not the circus that Clanton and Deland's have become. After 20 years of living with a lisfranc dislocation - and increasing arthritis and deformity, I underwent a 1st and 2nd TMT joint fusion. The experience was flawless. Pain management was excellent. Surgical care and follow-up care by Dr Ebert and his staff was thorough and professional. I feel very fortunate to have a top caliber foot and ankle specialist in Austin. I had planned on travelling to NYC or Houston for the surgery and recuperation. I agree with Elizabeth F: So glad I found Dr Ebert. read more

5-20-2014 Had my surgery ( brostrom repair and a debriment scope) aboouuut... 8 hours ago. Dr. Ebert was great and compassionate and answered my last minute questions for me. All my nurses and his surgical assistant and my anesthesiologist ( capitol anesthesia) were lovely and kind. They explained everything before they did it. Dr ebert even took picture with my scope and gave me a copy so i got to see the inside of my ankle which was neat. I was concerned about nausea after waking up so i got a patch behind my ear, zofran in my iv and zofran at hme to take witb my pain meds. I also got a nerve block, so i have 0 pain, just feels like my leg is asleep. It was as nice an experience as any surgery can be. My husband likd tbat they kept him updated and explained my aftr care post op to him since he will be babysitting me the next 2 wks. Please ignore any typos, im on a kindle in bed all druggd up. Dr ebert is great! EDIT 7/7/15 Wow I just realize I wrote out my review of my surgery and never actually sent it. Serves me right for trying to write on morphine. So It's been over a year since my ankle surgery. I was on an advanced recovery schedule so I got out of my cast and into PT faster than usual, but I want to say I was in my splint for 16 days, my cast for 14 days, and my boot for several weeks (maybe 3-4?) The only complaint I have is that I wish they'd go into a bit more detail with you on the psychological aspects of recovery, because that was by FAR the hardest part. Being helpless and unable to contribute to your own life is rough on you, and I was really bummed out there for a while. I do also wish that they would recommend a specific PT. I got a list of whoever was closest to me, and I just picked one at random and I wasn't super happy with them on the whole. Visits with Dr Ebert continued over the next few months, and he was always great, as well as his front desk staff. The only oddity in my visits was the nurse who did my cast. She began putting my cast together like normal, and only noticed that she wasn't doing it right when I said something about beginning to put weight on it. She goes "oh wait... this is a WALKING cast?" I said "um... yeah?" then she told me I had to very quickly put my foot down on a board to get it to set in the standing position before the plaster dried. Now, trying to do that "quickly" with an ankle that feels like it's falling apart without support is just this side of excruciating, and I was kind of annoyed that she didn't seem to know what kind of cast she was actually applying. As a result, it didn't set at a completely flat angle. Also, I didn't get a choice of color (I got black in summer, sad face) I ended up only taking my pain med for 3 days because even with zofran I was horribly sick for another 3 days after that, to the point that my husband called Dr. Ebert asking if there was something wrong with me lol. I managed well without the pain meds for the most part, lots of ice behind my knee and keeping it elevated. I had a few sleepless nights when the nerves were healing, and you feel sharp pains as if a tiny gnome is beating on the outside of your ankle with a little pickaxe. My incisions all healed up beautifully. Swelling lasted a while though, especially when I started back at my standing job. That only really went away 100% about 2 months ago. The only thing I have left to remind me I had ankle surgery other than 3 scars is that when i'm standing for a while, I can't go through my whole ROM with my ankle, it catches, and I have to wiggle it around and make it pop before the ROM is back. That's just scar tissue that I have to work through. I'm 100% pain free from the original problem I had, and I only feel a little aching now and then when I stand for long periods of time, like 5-6 hours. read more

Dr. Ebert is skillful in his work. His management of staff and pain management has left me completely unsatisfied and filled with emotional and physical pain. I should have caught on during my first visit when it took an hour and 45 minutes to before I even saw him. His PA came in after an hour and 15 minutes and started examining my broken ankle without gloves and without introducing herself. Only after my wife asked why she didn't look like the man pictured on their website did she introduce herself. I was then rushed into surgery the next day, which I have no doubt I did need. I was released with a prescription with no refills after an operation that included a titanium plate, six screws and removal of five bone chips in my talus that required cutting and peeling back of cartilage. Then stabbing the bone so it would bleed and cause scar tissue to replace missing bone. My splint (half cast) was left with finger impressions directly applying pressure to my incision, and I was forced to break it myself and re-wrap. When his PA removes the splint I complain and show her the problem, where and why I broke it. She states " It's not supposed to connect like that, I can see why you broke it." Nothing was ever said or done after that. Not even an I'm sorry about that. When I asked for a refill through my pharmacy the fax was sent. I saw the fax transmittal. His office said "We haven't received any request for refill." I then asked my pharmacy to resend the fax. Four days without pain meds, NERVE pain. I was from then on treated as a drug seeker. Twice more faxes get lost and no one knows whats going on. I complain to staff twice and not a surprise, Dr. Ebert knows nothing of whats going on. Only after I call to cancel all future appointments and inform his nurse of an impending complaint to the state do I get to talk with the good Dr. He apologizes and informs me that he wants only to help me and finish the task of healing. I reluctantly give him a third chance and have lived to regret it. Again it takes about six to seven days for a refill approval, still waiting, and I am having to deal with his staffs incompetence. I would never recommend his office to anyone I consider a friend, and would not wish his office on my worst enemy. I am a Fire Fighter and know what customer service is. His staff, I can honestly say is there only to collect a paycheck and could care less about his patients. It is a shame, because this doctor has talent, and it WILL be the ruin of his practice. Dr. Ebert treated our son for a broken tibia and fibula using a Taylor Spatial Frame. While this treatment method takes longer than the rod down the leg, it was definitely better for our son in the end. We are very happy with the final result. Other than scarring, our son has healed completely. Dr. Ebert was always friendly, patient, and professional, as was his staff. If you ever have to wait, just remember that it is most likely because he is giving his best to the patients he is treating. He spent time with our son and us when needed and fully explained everything. We highly recommend Dr. Ebert. Where to start. Wait times? Bring a lunchbox! Communication skills? It is a one way street in this practice. They pay no attention to what you tell them. This practice is obviously an insurance mill. Get people in and get them out. You will spend more time communicating with his PA Loren than you will with him. Her personality and attitude is like having a conversation with a boulder covered in 6" of ice. Now let's start off with I had my foot crushed at work. Was referred to Dr. Ebert. Called to make the appointment, multiple times over a week, then the appointment was finally made, but ended up being 3 weeks post accident. Puts me in a boot and gives pain meds( of course 3 weeks post injury) fractures have already started healing. Now after 3 months, and severe nerve pain in the foot and all the way up the leg, barely walking with a cane. He says quit physical therapy, gives me a script for gabapentin. Which is to numb the nerves( this is an antiepileptic drug that causes psychosis in people). Tells me to take it and go back to work. Ignoring the fact that I already have PTSD and anxiety. Trying to kill me giving me a med like this. Oh he must have forgot to read the chart. Or forgot the one conversation 4 weeks ago where he acted like he cared. I am shocked and dumbfounded. In hindsight I wish I had known then what I know now. Would have went to a different ortho. Probably would have had better results. Starting with if greed and lack of compassion were not issues. He would have not taken the referral and sent elsewhere when he had family vacations planned and could not see a patient for 3 weeks. Definitely will be needing a new ortho and will not be taking the poison he prescribed yesterday. read more

I have seen several doctors through the years, and Dr. Josey tops them all. I have never seen a doctor with such a combination of compassion and confidence. He immediately made me feel at home and thoroughly discussed my condition in a way that I understood. This is unlike any doctor I have seen. He told me he could fix my problem, and everything from preop to surgery to postop occured exactly how he said. I am now pain free for the first time in years and I owe it all to Dr. Josey. Dr. Andrew Ebert is a miracle worker. I've had problems with my feet for years. I visited many podiatrists in Houston not knowing the difference between an orthopaedic foot and ankle doctor and a podiatrist. We have a second home in the Texas Hill Country and someone recommended Dr. Andrew Ebert in Austin. I was at the end of my rope. I could only wear flip flops as any other shoe was too painful. I visited Dr. Andrew Ebert and he diagnosed me with Morton's Neuroma. THANK GOODNESS I FOUND A REAL FOOT AND ANKLE DOCTOR WHO KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING! Dr. Ebert is an orthopaedic specialist, not a podiatrist. There is a huge difference and I only wish I had learned this when I first began having feet problems. My best friend broke her ankle and had also great results with Dr. Ebert. He's worth the drive to Austin if you live in the Texas Hill Country!
