Dr. Graham is awesome. He operated on my right shoulder. I had a torn labrum and my shoulder was coming out of socket...even in my sleep. This was in 2008 and I've never had a problem since. I recently underwent shoulder surgery with Dr. Robert Graham in Austin, Texas and it was a major success. After less than a week I'm already moving my arm around and was able to hit the gym for cardio, stretching, and light band work. At this rate I think 3 weeks post op I'll be back to full workouts. He debrided the AC joint and removed a severely inflamed bursa (bursitis). Initially we were thinking it was a torn rotator cuff (supraspinatus) but thankfully it ended up being much less severe of a diagnosis after he got in there with the arthroscope. Doctor Graham is extremely intelligent and is an obvious expert in his field. I'm friends with 3 very good doctors in unrelated fields and they all had rave reviews for Dr. Graham. I would absolutely recommend Robert Graham for any shoulder work you need done. read more

Amazing doctor, best surgeon and has great bedside manners. Would highly recommend him for shoulders

Dr. Graham is a stud with shoulders. He is the best in Austin IMO. I had a shoulder injury, saw another orthopedist and their recommended PT and my shoulder continued to get worse. The first orthopedist then recommended shoulder surgery. Fortunately, I had a friend with prior shoulder complications who told me, "with shoulders, make sure you see the best." I researched the best and Dr. Graham came up. He's got an undergraduate degree from MIT and MD from Duke. He first told me he wouldn't do surgery on me because of my lack of mobility and high pain which he attributed to locked shoulder. He told me surgery with a locked shoulder would spell poor post-op results. He told me I needed to take a month and stretch through the pain to get better range of motion. I came back and my shoulder was starting to feel like it was improving, but still very, very much worse than prior to my injury. The then gave me a list of only 3 people in Austin I should see for aggressive PT (3 people, not three offices). I went to one - Michael Tillman at Tillman PT. It was 3 months of hard work that involved PT several times a day (many at home) every day, but my shoulder was back to normal again afterwards. I'm so thankful for both of them. read more

If you are looking for even half of a decent patient experience, this is NOT the place for you. Dr. Graham may be great (we didn't get far enough to find out!) but his new office staff is ruining his business. My parents just drove over 2 hours to a SCHEDULED appt only to be told that the practice changed over to Seton and they had dropped his appt and couldn't "fit him in"...to an appointment that was scheduled and confirmed. He even spoke with them over the phone in advance to confirm it was set for 10am today. This is completely unacceptable. Even more so for patients who have to drive hours out of town just to get there. After calling the main Seton line to discuss, even THEY were shocked. I'd give lower than a 1 star if it was possible. Leaving this review in hopes of preventing this extremely frustration experience for at least 1 person. read more

I am scheduled to go in for surgery in December. Havard outstanding things about doctor Graham. I can tell you his medical scheduling assistant Miss Leah not sure if that's spelled correctly but is totally awesome outstanding extremely polite well knowledged on everything about the surgery and insurance needs. If my surgery goes as well as my dealings with Miss Leah it will be fantastic. not sure if that is the way she spells her name but if you are lucky enough to talk to her you will know who that is. read more

Dr Graham and his PA Steven came highly recommended to me by 2 different Physical Therapists, so I made an appointment to see him. I am very happy to have done so. In an unusually short period of time, I had my first visit with Steven on a Thursday followed the next week with Dr. Graham and then Reverse shoulder replacement Surgery the following Monday morning. Very little pain. My post op visit yesterday went well. Stitches removed, and a lengthy discussion with doc re phys rehab, limitations and limits. Nine Years After the Surgery still good. My experience with Dr. Graham has been a long one involving both shoulders. After a long period of managing my right shoulder, I went to Dr. Graham who tried a couple things and we decided on surgery. Went flawlessly and after some brief motion therapy I was good to go. My left froze up a few years later. I returned and after several fresh attempts we scheduled surgery. I had an extended trip prior and Dr. Graham agreed to a steroid shot in the joint to get me through the trip. I had had these before with great short term affects but no long term cure. Well, this was the one that worked and a month later at the consult I was good. Dr. Graham immediately cancelled the surgery and instead we went to a yearly follow up and now nothing. Lots of guys could have told me that I still needed surgery to fix the underlying issues but Dr. Graham was honest about what was needed. I am pain free and fully functioning all these years later. I recently had a reverse shoulder replacement surgery, new ball and socket. Dr. Graham did a great job and I recommend him highly.

Dr. Graham is an excellent surgeon. I have had multiple surgeries with him, and I wouldn't have chosen any other orthopedic surgeon. He specializes in shoulder surgeries, but also is excellent in knee arthroscopy, carpal tunnel, ulnar nerve transposition, and clavicle fractures. Dr. Graham is not only skilled at his surgical skills, but also is top rated in his bedside and office interactions. He is conservative in treating and tries physical therapy and injections for reducing pain prior to any possible surgical treatment. He takes time with each patient and has one on one as much as he can. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Graham to anyone that needs orthopedic surgery! read more

Absolutely the BEST sports shoulder orthopedic surgeon in Austin/central Texas! After I got badly hurt doing whitewater kayak training in February of 2009, I researched who the top sports shoulder orthopedics are in Austin, and found 3. I then applied the acid test--called my general sports orthopedic and asked him who HE recommends--and he gave the nod to Dr. Graham. Everything about him and his team is first rate, professional, outstanding and friendly. They even let me keep my kayak polo ball under the stretcher I laid on during surgery! When I injured the other shoulder in August, 2012, Dr. Graham was there for me once again, despite 2 completely torn rotator cuffs and a badly shredded biceps tendon that had to be relocated. I'm way ahead of schedule on regaining range of movement, mobility and strength (despite being 54 years old), and I thank Dr. Graham and his rock star team for their friendly, polite, and very professional expertise. I came to Dr Graham after I had -- I realized only after the fact -- a completely unnecessary collarbone surgery by Dr. Seade, who really messed me up. Graham at least ordered an MRI for my shoulder to try to determine source of pain. He thought my rotator cuff might be torn, but MRI came back fine, so he blew me off. I had to go to an out-of-town doctor to get correct MRI and diagnosis, which was I have a torn trapezius, which was probably cut during surgery. Graham acknowledged my collarbone had a completely different shape now than the other, no S curve like it should, but even though I told him I was in tremendous pain, he said he didn't think that was a problem. He was very eager to tell me I didn't really have a problem, despite my extreme pain. Rather than listen to my concerns, Graham referred me back to the doctor who messed me up and refused to see me any more because I was being too difficult for him. So not only did he fail to diagnose me correctly, he was inconsiderate of my pain, and he seemed to be protecting a fellow Austin shoulder doctor. I'm giving him 3 stars rather than 1, because I suspect if I had gone to him instead of Seade in the first place, he would at least have had the sense to refuse me an unnecessary surgery to avoid the pain from the start. It's sad though that I have to leave the Austin area to get an accurate diagnosis. read more

I would agree Evelyn D's review. He performed a right shoulder replacement for me and I have not looked back. Agree with comments about great bedisde manner, conservatism, etc. It was fabulous that they did a nerve block of the shoulder before the surgery--made it much easier and less painful than it would have been otherwise. HOWEVER, YOU must commit fully to the physical therapy afterwards for a good result! read more
