Our cruise ships chartered the ferry, so we did not have to purchase tickets. For both trips, the seats felt comfortable. Some seats were indoors, and other seats were outdoors with breezy air. The employees served us well and spoke some English. Many years ago, the sea was extremely wavy, and for the only time in my life, I got very seasick, but thankfully a restroom was available for me to use. Most recently, in 2026, I did not feel sick at all (yay!). We arrived at our destinations on time.

We both thoroughly enjoyed the half day trip and would recommend it to anyone. Limbert was a very knowledgeable guide and told us a lot about the history of Mexico on the drive down. Both were quite close to Playa Del Carmen/ Playacar so the longest drive was around thirty minutes. I got some great photos and at the end of the trip we were sent a Google Drive of the photos that Limbert had taken.

We took the Mexico Waterjets ferry from Playa to Cozumel at the last min (they held the 1:00 pm…read moreferry for us). The cost was $8.50 USD ida y vuelta (roundtrip). It takes about 45 min to make the crossing. Inside the ferry is nice enough, but it was kinda warm. A couple of my rellies got mareada (seasick) bc of the heat and the movement of the boat. However, the employees were very considerate and offered bags and sympathy. On the return, we sat on top outside and had better results. One of my rellies waited til we were on the dock to get sick. The 4 ferry companies run like clockwork every hour on the hour to/from Playa to Cozumel. Take a look at which one has the best price, I believe the service is comparable. In this case our choice was Mexico Waterjets.

Because they offer basically the same service, leaving from the same place, at the same time, they seem interchangable. They might be, but I rode with WinJet twice and I liked the friendly workers who seemed happy to be working there, the organization, and the looping video (upbeat music, information, ads, Senor Frijole aka Mr. Bean, etc). We were lucky and got on right away. One time we bought tickets just eight minutes before departure without issue. Another time, we were ten minutes late and managed to board. $9 one way and $15 round trip (recommended) as of 2/19. Buy your tickets directly from orange Winjet booths and make sure you aren't in some timeshare. I thought the 35 minute ferry ride itself would be part of the fun, but I guess I'm getting old... The February waters were choppy and two days later I still feel like I'm bobbing.

We got in touch with Lomas Hospitality and set up the tour with them. They got us our tickets and told us when to meet the driver from Rio Secreto. This all happened as per normal and we took a short 20-30 minute drive to get to the location (we stayed at El Dorado Maroma). You get a wrist band when you get to the reception area (our driver got ours for us) and then you're told to go to the area where everyone is sitting and there is a person at the podium that asks what language you speak so they know which form to have you fill out. We are English speakers so we filled out the waiver and handed it back in. A quick 5 minute wait and they let us know that our guide would be Guillermo (Memo) and we learned Charles was our photographer. There were 10 of us in our group and Memo let us know what to expect and what was coming up. He let everyone know we'd need to change into our swimwear, get their water shoes on (they have some there if you need them), and lock our things in the locker (each couple/family received a lock and key to wear on the wrist). There were restrooms and changing rooms for whatever was needed. We then met out front and were told that we needed to rinse off to get the oils off of our skin so as to reduce the damage to the cave we were going to be traipsing through. He also let us know that when we got done with the rinse (it is all outside), at that point, if we would like to wear a wetsuit, just line up and they'd get that for us. My husband and I chose to go without the wetsuits, while the other people in our group chose to wear them. Every person MUST wear a life vest and a helmet. No way around it, and it is a darn good thing! They also offer a PVC walking cane/stick for people that wish to have it. I'm going to highly suggest that if a person is even a little bit wobbly on their feet...use it. We then took a short 10 minute walk to the cave entrance after some pictures (Thank you Charles!!!) in front of signs and other things, we started the tour. There is a good reason this is considered in the top 10 of National Geographic. I can't even explain in words how amazing this whole trip was for us. The knowledge that both young men had regarding the cave, its exploration, how it is created, the animals inside and out...they were amazing. We walked, we swam, we crouched, we enjoyed, we were in awe of the beauty of the system itself. You DEFINITELY need the helmet (crouching isn't always fun when you get older or are taller and you will bump your head), and the life vest (swimming is awesome, but floating in one area and looking up at everything around you takes your mind from treading water and you MUST see everything!). We saw bats, we saw blind cave fish, we saw tiny catfish, cave crickets, we saw isopods, we saw 1mm shrimp, we saw stalactites, stalagmites, fossils from corals, tailless whip scorpions, isopods, and beauty. So much beauty all around us. And it is cold water...70 - 75 degree's Fahrenheit was about normal apparently. It was cold but when you're in it, it isn't so bad. This is a must if you are in the area. 100% After we finished the tour, you can buy the photos they take ($120 usd) and there is a buffet style meal for you if you wish. The soda's need to be bought in the gift shop (on the side you came into the meal area) and are 1 for $3.00 or 2 for $4.00 each, they obviously can change that. The photos are delivered electronically, and I know our guy did phenomenal for us! A ride back to our resort and we were sad to see it go. I wish my words could be more descriptive, but you should just go and see it for yourselves. It is a whole other world down there.

Rio Secreto was an amazing experience!…read more I went to Cancun for a girls' trip, and honestly, I was very nervous because I didn't know what to expect. I tend to get anxious about new experiences, but I always try to push myself--knowing I'll be happy I did afterward. When you arrive, check-in takes place in a hidden, lush area with benches. A short video plays so you can get an idea of what Rio Secreto is all about. After that, you check in, sign your waivers, and meet your guide for the day. We totally lucked out--our guide, George, was incredible! The guide makes all the difference. George was full of life, personality, and knowledge. He truly immersed us in the caves and shared so much about Mayan culture. I can't say enough nice things about him! Your guide then takes you by van to the Rio Secreto caves, about a 15-minute drive on an unpaved, natural, and bumpy road. I don't get carsick, but if you're prone to it, you may want to take something beforehand. The ride itself is scenic and surrounded by lush greenery. Once you arrive, you'll find lockers, showers, bathrooms, and seating areas. Be prepared to remove all jewelry, as it's not allowed in the caves--the water must remain pure. You'll take a quick shower before putting on your wetsuit and water shoes (they provide them, or you can bring your own). You'll also wear a helmet with a light. The facility is extremely clean and well-maintained. I was genuinely impressed by how often they sanitized the equipment, floors, and bathrooms. Once you're geared up, you take about a 10-minute walk to the caves. Before entering, you'll participate in a beautiful Mayan ceremony meant to cleanse your spirit--and take a quick group photo. Important tip: You cannot bring your cell phone! Let it go and just enjoy the moment. A photographer will take pictures throughout the tour, and trust me, it's worth it. Walking and swimming through the caves while listening to George share stories about the Mayans, the legends, and the discovery of Rio Secreto was truly magical. The water is cool at first, but you get used to it quickly. Floating through the crystal-clear water surrounded by stunning cave formations took my breath away. After the tour, you're treated to a delicious meal--including handmade tortillas! An amazing day and an unforgettable experience. Highly recommend Rio Secreto!

So very easy. They spoke English and we had no problems checking in. They boated you out to where the submarine was underwater. It was a neat sight to see the submarine emerge from under the water right in front of you. The sub was very clean and we only saw some small fish. It's tight quarters onboard, but everyone gets a seat with a great view. The guide on the sound system made sure we knew what we were looking at, including a sunken ship with divers exploring it. All kinds of sea life swam past the windows as we made our way down 115 feet to the ocean floor. We also saw numerous coral reefs as we glided along. The steep steps to board and exit are fairly easy to navigate and the staff offers lots of help. It's kind of pricey but worth every penny!

I was told there were no other drivers and no flexibility the entire day which to me doesn't sound normal. While I understand policies exist, good companies know when to make exceptions. A partial refund or even an effort to find an alternative solution would have made a big difference. If you're truly that busy, partnering with another service should be an option. One or 2 calls could be make to make a customer happy Instead, there was zero effort to accommodate the situation. We had to wait for your drivers because you said there was an accident by the airport earlier when we arrived. This was booked by my brother, but I normally use another company USA Transfer & my experience they are more customer friendly. A side note we were staying in Club Med 17 min ride to Airport & for sure where many of their drivers drive thru, If they wanted to assist in anyway.

A Chichén Itz-A+ Experience!…read more We had an absolutely outstanding experience with Absolute Adventures, thanks in large part to our incredible guide, Alberto, and our professional driver, Yosmar. Alberto guided us through all the major archaeological sites at Chichén Itzá with a perfect balance of deep knowledge, storytelling, and patience. He answered countless questions--not just from my wife and me, but also from our very curious 10- and 8-year-old children. He made history come alive in a way that was engaging and accessible for all of us, which is no small feat on a long, hot day. What truly set Alberto apart was how attentive he was to our children's needs. He made sure we moved at a comfortable pace, checked in frequently, and ensured the kids stayed engaged and comfortable throughout the tour. He also did a fantastic job preparing us for interactions with vendors and other on-site situations, which made the entire experience stress-free and enjoyable. Our driver, Yosmar, was equally impressive. He was extremely professional, always parking in safe areas--and whenever possible, in the shade (a huge bonus!). He was attentive while we were getting in and out of the vehicle at each stop, especially when traffic was present, which made us feel very well taken care of. After the archaeological sites, Yosmar drove us to a beautiful cenote, where Alberto again went above and beyond--explaining all the amenities, walking down with us, and even helping carry one of our bags. We later stopped at an authentic Mayan/Mexican restaurant, where even our kids found food they loved. Alberto asked if he could join us for lunch, and we were happy to have him--his insight into the dishes and local cuisine made the meal even more enjoyable. We wrapped up the day with a stop in Valladolid, getting a quick but meaningful look at the Spanish influence, Mayan culture, and, of course, chocolate. It was a long day, but being able to go at our own pace--with our needs and preferences fully respected--made it more than worth it. Booking with Absolute Adventures was one of the best decisions we made on this trip, and we would absolutely do it again. Highly recommended for families, especially those traveling with children.

5/5 Highly Recommend…read more We booked two private tours with Absolute Adventures: first the Tulum Ruins, Swim with Turtles and Mexican Lunch on a Monday and then the Two Cenote and Mexican Lunch on Wednesday. For Tulum and Turtles our tour guide was Luis and our driver was Rodrigo. For the Cenotes, our tour guide was Arturo and our driver was Enrique. Both guides were exceptional and both drivers took good care of us. Booking online was simple and their communication about the tours, both confirming the tours before we left home and same day communication about pickup, was excellent. Our hotel turned out to be a headache about letting outside tour companies onto the property, and we ran into some real meet up issues because of it, but the team was super responsive and got it sorted quickly. It all worked out in the end, and honestly that kind of responsiveness under pressure told us a lot about how they run things. We started our Tulum tour early to beat the crowds and heat (highly recommend!). Luis guided us through Tulum and made sure we stayed hydrated the whole time, which matters more than people think when you're out in that heat. His knowledge of the area, the flora, the fauna, the history, was genuinely impressive, and he had this rare ability to be educational and entertaining at the same time without ever feeling like a lecture. At our turtle excursion he schlepped our gear and made sure we didn't forget anything, none of which was his job, he just did it because that's who he is. I was also practicing my broken Spanish throughout the trip, and Luis never once made me feel dumb or embarrassed when I got it wrong, which I really appreciated. For our next tour, Arturo took us to the cenotes. When he picked us up, he suggested we visit a different cenote than what we'd originally booked. I was a little skeptical, figured he just wanted a shorter drive. I was completely wrong. The cenote he picked instead allowed us to have two totally different types of experiences that we would have missed entirely otherwise, and I'm glad we trusted him. At Cenote Jaguar, Arturo gave our kids real time and space to jump and play, which ended up being a highlight of the whole trip for them. At Cenote Dos Ojos, claustrophobia was a real concern for us. But Arturo's tour through the caves was informative and calm enough that we felt genuinely safe the entire time. Between the logistics, the guides, and how they handled a hiccup that wasn't even their fault, these two tours were one of the best parts of our trip.

It was pouring rain when we arrived, after meeting the driver, we all ran to the car. For my first trip to Mexico, this was a bit of a frightening experience. After dropping us off, our driver seemed busy and I handed him a tip and said thank you. 10 minutes later he is calling my husband repeatedly saying we didn't pay, when my husband told him we had a confirmation and paid on the website in advance. As we were waiting to check in and sitting with our guest services rep, the driver found us in the lobby and I told him we paid for this already and luckily had printed out my confirmation. He took a picture and sent it to his boss. This experience made me worried that they were not going to show up to drop us at the airport since we had booked round trip transportation. Unlike when we were arriving to Cancun, when we received confirmations about our upcoming transfer for departure we didn't receive one. I reached out the day before to make sure they would show and that they knew which lobby to get us from. The day of, the driver told us he was going to be 20 minutes late, 20 minutes turned into 40 minutes and I had asked my husband to reach out because at this point we were sitting in anxiety that we were going to miss our flight but the driver called to ask which lobby ( information we provided the day before). It was the last flight of the day. Our driver was also coughing quite a bit, and I regretted not putting on my mask like I should have because after we got out I felt sick the rest of the weekend. Based on this experience, I would not use this service again.
