I have had four training sessions with Mitch and one more to go for this package of five. He is who was assigned to our training of our two dogs. He has been prompt and has communicated very well. Our dogs absolutely love him and respond well to his training techniques. He has helped my husband and I build our arsenal of training opportunities and helped our dogs be the best they can be. My wife and I dropped by Ultimate Canine (UC) to visit, Maverick, a Black English Labrador that they are training to be a service dog for me, who will be coming home in November. Dogs are being walked, going through training exercises, resting, being groomed, praised, corrected, it's a bit like watching a very small bee hive in slow motion. We met Maverick and Julie Case in the "Barn" which contain a training area, beds, a grooming area, portable and fixed kennels, toys, and more, it's a lot to take in in a short amount to time. We spent about 1-1/2 hours with Maverick and Julie along with a small amount of time with another woman (sorry, I don't remember your name, but I do recall your suggestion to separate potty time from play/exercise during a rest stop during a road trip). We talked about Maverick's training and our future with him, played ball, practiced recall (Maverick come), sit, and place (rest where I'm pointing to), I also walking with him in heel (I only stepped on him once). Julie is intensely focused on the training and care of the dogs in her charge, it was a bit off-putting for someone who suffers from agoraphobia and high anxiety. Prior to meeting Julie in person, I'd had at least two phone conversations with her, one where she told me UC had a candidate match and then the next day, a Sunday, confirming that Maverick had been paired with me and would be graduating in early November. During those calls she was very patient, understanding and compassionate, finally being paired was an overwhelming experience for me and Julie was very supportive. I've traded e-mails and a couple of other phone calls with other people at UC and they've all been kind, professional and understanding. I can't say enough good things about Ultimate Canine. Trainer Joe Cruz is pretty much a miracle worker, and a completely delightful guy! We brought our seven-month-old standard bernedoodle, who was pretty out of control for training while we were traveling for two weeks, and came back to a transformed dog! Still the same sweet puppy, but it was as if someone had a long talk with her in dog language and explained how to behave. To say we were pleased (and a bit stunned) is an understatement! The facility is gorgeous and spotless, and the fact that they train special forces and police dogs from all over the country is a testament to their great skill in training dogs. We can't say enough good things about Ultimate Canine and Joe Cruz...truly, he should have his own show! He explained perfectly how dogs think, and really helped us understand our dog as well as be able to moderate and control her behavior. We took our mini schnauzer to Ultimate Canine last year for 2 weeks after being told she was untrainable by 3 other trainers. Last week we had Carissa come work with us in our home for some "touch ups" and were amazed with the results we received! Julie has a gift, which she is passing on to her trainers. Our Goldendoodle (Winston) completed a 4 week stay and train with Ultimate Canine with Carissa Abney. Both Winston and my wife and I are so happy after the experience. He learned all basic manners and how to walk off leash with his new ecollar. We could not be more happy with the results and are so grateful to have found such a wonderful trainer. Carissa has proven to be the perfect trainer - firm but kind with Winston and his humans (we required just as much training as he did!) If you do the stay and train your pet does receive the best care (vet visits, training, lodging, and socialization). Walking into their facility with 20 pets is shockingly quiet; however, all pets are trained and are kept to their best manners during their stay. Scarlet is a 3-4 yr old Mastiff who had a hard life as a stray and then bouncing between shelters. Mitch not only takes Scarlet's quirks into account, but he adjusts his training based on my ability as an owner with physical limitations and really has helped me learn how to communicate with my dog. She's taking to training and we're both learning a ton. My dog's social skills with people and other dogs, her anxiety with strangers and her overall happiness has improved. Mitch is kind and patient and clearly cares about the animals and people he works with. Our Winston (a mini bull terrier) just started working with Carissa. She is the 3rd trainer we have used in a year and a half. (We know WE need more training than Winston, but he's pretty crazy as well ). I cannot express how excellent I feel this business is. I have two rescue dogs who needed training. Love was not enough. Mitchell was the trainer. We just had our two dogs go to Ultimate Canine for training. The results are fantastic! One of our dogs was easy and the other was very difficult. They were both rescues so we did not know anything about their background. Our difficult dog could not get near other dogs except our other one without being completely reactive and getting very aggressive. Walking her was hard because we have many dogs in our neighborhood. It was also tough to walk the two dogs together. The work that Carissa Abney at Ultimate Canine did was miraculous. We can now easily walk the difficult dog. WOW! Julie Case is an AMAZING trainer. We have two dogs that constantly had us on edge. Dog #1 can jump our fence in one small leap. Bunnies, people, other dogs. . .anything that attracts his attention, and he is gone. Dog #2 is a bolter. With two children in the house, doors inevitably get left open. He would be half way down the block in a second. These were the two issues that forced our hand to seek training. We knew we wanted in-home one-on-one training. When Julie came for our consultation and said she could solve our problems (with both dogs) in just four sessions, I will be honest and say I was quite skeptical, but willing to give it a try. I mean really, we've lived with these dogs for years, and haven't gotten them to listen, how can someone else get them trained in four sessions! I can tell you that now (yes, after just four sessions) my dogs listen and are attentive. Dog #1 will not jump the fence. Dog #2 stops at the threshold to our house when any door is open. We can walk them both off leash. They can play in open fields and come when called. Children can jump, scream yell, and when the dogs are told to lay down and stay, they do!! When the door bell rings, they know that they are supposed to sit and stay. Julie's approach is amazing. She has a great training program that we HIGHLY recommend. Julie Case in Incredible! Our son has autism and would not leave our house (noise, outside stimulation, crowds). He was overwhelmed. Julie helped us find a dog for our son, and trained the dog as a formal service dog. Our son's service dog is iIMPECCABLY trained, and goes everywhere with him (school, movies, restaurants, walking outdoors, going to parks, and even sleeps with him). Besides a solid regimen of commands, his dog is a "social bridge" and has helped him to relate with others. It has been a transformative experience for him.
