I've been bringing my dog Sully here almost a full year since he was a puppy and he loves it! He has separation anxiety, but has never had an issue going to day camp. Wow! I am truly at a loss for words. I have been shopping around for a new daycare for my pup so I arranged to bring my kiddo in for an interview at Camp Bow Wow Carmel. Back in 2008 I brought my German Shepard girl here for day care and boarding twice a week for quite awhile and it was great. They treated her well and ran a clean pleasant facility that the owners took pride in. On her interview day I brought her in so they could test her temperament and they gave me a great report card with her picture and feedback. I also took a tour and met the owners an middle age couple who were charming (Michelle & Stephen Alexander) I ran into the owners several times over the period that I was taking my dog there and they were great. So now that I was wanting to try out a few other places I thought why not. I filled out paper work online and a very nice personable man called me and advised me that I would have to fill out a paper application and send it back before I could schedule her interview. I did and he called me back and everything was great. I arrived at 7:00 am and he came right out and stood in a small fenced in area. I asked if I was supposed to bring her to him and he said yes. I asked him why the lobby was closed, and if it was due to covid and he said one of their owners has a rare form of blood cancer and they need to keep them away from people as much as possible. He took her back for the evaluation and came out later and told me that she did great. I checked on her a few times through out the day and she was safe, but mostly pacing the fence. In the morning there was one employee that was in the area with the dogs mostly pacing around using their cell phone or talking on there cell phone. The dogs take a rest from 11am-1pm and have lunch if their parents packed it for them. I found this information on the paperwork they hand out and on the website. I checked in on her again in the afternoon and saw that she again was pacing the fence and laying around again resting. During the day I thought this might be a good spot for my dog to visit and I purchased a ten pack of passes. Pick up is between 4-5:30pm and I arrived a little bit after 5:00pm. I called from the parking lot as directed and the phone was picked up, and I was hung up on. I called in again and said that I was there to pick up my dog and they said she did great and they would bring her out. I inquired about their schedule today and I was told they took a rest from 11am-1pm, and from 4pm-5:30pm. As I was checking in on them on the web cam today I asked if they went to rest at 3pm today instead of 4pm and I was told that the schedule varies depending on the temperature, staffing, etc. and was hung up on. A young lady came out and said she would be with me in a minute. I asked of she was the person I was talking to on the phone and she said yes. I asked her if the space was airconditioned and she replied yes, so I asked if it was a staffing issue to which she became visible irritated and said no it wasn't a staffing issue. She went back in and came out with another dog and handed me a piece of paper and told me the break times and that they vary were on the paperwork. Again in and out with another dog, and I said I read the paperwork and didn't see anything notation of other break times and if she could show it to me. She grabbed the paper from me folded it in half and walked away. I asked if I could speak to the manager, she said I am the manager, I asked if I could speak to the owner and she said she is the owner. That she has owned the business for 16 years. At that time I asked her if she was the owner with the rare blood cancer that the other employee mentioned and she said yes, and I said I'm so sorry that must be hard. From there she became incredible rude and started insulting me, trying to shame me (I was called disgusting, and many other thing I won't type in a review). She was becoming more and more belligerent as I stood calmly holding my cell phone so I had a witness to the situation. She told me that I was on video and I said great then we have proof I wasn't doing anything. I asked if she would cancel my next appointment and the ten day pass I just purchased today and she said she would and that this wasn't going to work out. She continued to verbally assault me, I told her God Bless you and got in my car and left. From reviewing the website Michelle Rohrer (Alexander) is the owner and her two children Lauren and Justin work there. I believe it was Lauren the owners daughter who was verbally accosting me because she didn't want to answer questions about their daily schedule. Needless to say, I won't be driving 15 minutes out of my way to take my dog to a business where I get hung up on multiple times, yelled at, and insulted. I would love to have a copy of the video to share with their franchise corporate office and would welcome the opportunity to speak with Michelle the business owner. read more

We absolutely love Camp Bow Wow Carmel! The staff treats our puppy like their own. We are able to watch on the cameras throughout the day (we haven't had any concern!) The amount of play and rest is as her veterinarian has recommended, especially after meal times. The facility has many services available and has a trainer, Justin, on staff that has worked wonders with her manners. Especially important is that it is not too crowded like other day camps and our little (less than 10 pound Cavalier) has a chance to run, play, and socialize with other dogs safely. Our dogs love going to Camp Bow Wow - the socialization they get and the attention they receive is really perfect. They come home happy and tired after a fun--filled day playing at CBW. All the staff we deal with have been so nice - especially Joseph, who handles reservations, payments, etc. It took us awhile to understand their policies and processes...waiting outside to drop off and pickup is a bit unusual, and filling out the intake form each time they board seems inefficient to me, but they are always quite nice and accommodating. At the end of the day, it's about doing something my pups love, and they are definitely thrilled each time they visit Camp Bow Wow. That says it all for us! read more

I was looking for a place close to my office for my little guy, and Camp Bow Wow came up on Yelp as the closest. I made an appointment for my "camper" to go through the interview process. I liked that the first day my camper was here was free. They spent a lot of time with him and made sure he would get along with the other pups in a controlled environment. When I picked him up for the day I got a nice folder full of information and a picture of my pup. Having webcams for me to check in on everything during the nice was a nice feature too! read more

Doggy day care aspect always went well, then we boarded our dog for a week whilst heading on vacation. Our dog got sick, they called us, but we could not find anybody to go pick up our dog (mistake #1 was not offering immediately to take her to the vet, and instead we spent an hour trying to call people back home to help). After many phone calls, they *finally* agreed to take our dog to our regular vet, but not without a lot of attitude from the woman working as the on-duty manager. At no point during this situation did we feel like our animal was the priority, because if so, the first things out of their mouths would have been "who's your vet and we'll get her there". It was like pulling teeth to get any action taken actually. Do not board your animal here. read more

This was the first boarding/day care place that we took our dog. I also have never had a dog before, so I didn't really know what to expect. Pick-up and drop off was in general pretty easy. I did have an instance where no one showed up until about 7:10 with Starbucks in hand, which made me late to work, however the staff was receptive to my feedback at that time and very helpful. The staff in general was very helpful and incredibly nice when scheduling boarding, days for daycare, and bathing. They do seem incredibly short staffed as someone is trying to answer the phone and bring in dogs. They also still don't let you inside for drop off (the Camp Bow Wow in Southport does). There were a couple of instances overall that gave be a bad feeling. On the weekends that we went there, the cameras were never on. Not one minute and my husband and I checked frequently Saturdays/Sundays where we boarded our dog. There were also about three to four instances where our dog came back with WAY more food than he should've. We always pack extra in case of an emergency, but this was way more. He would scarf down his food when he got home. He also was incredibly hyper when he got home. We initially attributed it to his breed being high-energy, but we started taking him to a different daycare and he is exhausted. My gut feeling is that my dog was spending most of his time in a crate and since he grazes when he eats, wasn't out of his crate long enough to finish meals. We started taking him to the Camp Bow Wow in Southport after we moved and it has been a completely different experience--several staff members on site, cameras on 24/7, never sent back with excess food, instagram stories during the day, staff members doing regular enrichment with the dogs, different events during the month. I now have a better idea of what boarding and daycare is supposed to be! read more

Horrible horrible horrible. Campers didn't receive the playtime advertised. Spoke with the owner, Michelle, and she tried to tell me it was because of a worker shortage. If that's the case either don't charge full price or take less campers. She told us she'd put something in our account because of this but she didn't. We spoke with a manager when we picked him up and he argued with me basically telling me "we're okay giving 'okay' service and not 'great' service." We still paid full price because they wouldn't give us our dog unless we did. Also they told us that they fed him all his meals, yet his stomach was sunken in and immediately ran to his bowls for food and water when he got home. No body should even consider this place. They treat dogs and their owners very poorly. read more

Camp Bow Wow is above any beyond. they treat your babies like there own. the staff are beyond any expectations you could have. Lauren, Joe, Justin are some of the kindest individuals you could meet. they can answer any questions you have and truly want the best for your camper. they have great activities for your pet and if they notice anything off always make sure to let you now. Justin who trains my chocolate lab pup is incredibly knowledgeable about what he teaches. the videos he sends of training sessions is a major help at home for extra practice. they are the daycare/ boarding you want I couldn't recommend them anymore. read more

I boarded my dog for seven days The week of June 19th. I prepackaged 7 bags of food, one for each day- measured out in portions, my dog eats. I picked her up on the following Sunday and was given back SIX bags of food back. I called Monday to ask how my dog ate last week. The girl on the phone, JULIA, was extremely rude and said my dog ate during EVERY meal. I asked why I was given back six bags of food. She's responded with, "Oh that's weird. I'm not sure, we don't store dog food and only give what the owner brings." I'm unsure why no one could give me an answer on why I had so much food left or what happened during the week. She then retracted and said,"Maybe my dog didn't eat all week." My dog lost 4 lbs while staying here. No one can tell me how much or when my dog ate. This is neglect. I can't believe how much money I spent to have my husky treated like this. I paid for bath services to find out when I picked her up there was no bath given. The girl working said they ran out of time, but put that they would give her a bath, if I brought her to doggy day camp. So it's now assumed I'm bringing my dog back? Why wouldn't my money just be refunded for the bath not given? I'm in disbelief on everything from this place. Also to add- my dog went to the vet today and diagnosed with kennel cough. I've tried contacting the owner several times and have not gotten a response. She did however reply to a review I left on Facebook, very unprofessionally. This place is not like the good Camp Bow Wow's. They do not let the dogs play together. They leave your dog crated 24-7. They did not inform us when we arrived that they were just a crating facility. I have been a boarding and grooming customer for over 5 years. This week there was a confrontation at Camp Bow Wow that has me confused, irritated and upset. It began with making a boarding reservation and continued through picking her up after her stay. I was bluntly told by the employee on the phone that "we can accommodate you THIS time, but in the future you will also need to bring your dog to doggie day care for a certain number of days. If not, you will need to find other arrangements because we are not just a boarding facility." I didn't understand why a long-time, regular customer was suddenly being turned away. During this conversation he was very combative and his disrespectful attitude towards me made me uncomfortable. He then said that since I was having my dog bathed that pick up would need to be in the evening. I mentioned that I would be there prior to 7:00pm closing. His rudeness caught me off guard when he stated that if I wasn't there prior to 6:30, I would be charged an additional night stay. The closing time stated online, their intake documents and their front door all say 7:00 pm. After boarding, I arrived before 6:30 for pick up, and the same employee I spoke to on the phone brought out my dog. I explained to him that informing me of a boarding policy change before telling me to look elsewhere would have been a better way to approach the situation. He responded by interrupting and talking over me. Then a female employee came out and was equally as crude, claiming she has been emailing me and that I haven't responded. I have not received any emails from Camp Bow Wow other than standard confirmations, intake forms and medical questions about my dog, which I responded to. She refused to tell me what the emails she supposedly sent were about. They then informed me that I was being "dismissed". I have never been treated in such a completely unprofessional manner. I am still shaking my head in disbelief at their behavior towards anyone like this especially a customer. Obviously, I will be taking my dog elsewhere. The good thing to come of all of this is that I have discovered many wonderful facilities in the Carmel area that have better accommodations and comparable pricing. read more

I boarded my dog Riley there at the Carmel, IN location for a week. This morning 9/19/21 when I arrived to pick up my dog, I could hear a girl yelling in a rage at the top of her lungs and saying I'm so fucking sick, but I couldn't make out the rest of what she was saying. I couldn't go in the building but I was able to see her through the front door. She was a short girl wearing glasses and black pants. It looked like her hair was a light brown color. I didn't say anything to the staff about it, but when I can hear that kind of rage from the parking lot and the doors are closed, that's a problem. It makes me wonder if that rage wasn't taken out on my dog this week at some point. I'll never bring my dog back to that location again. read more

We have been boarding with Camp Bow Wow since we have had our dog. So for the past seven years. I can no longer recommend this place. Since it has changed ownership they have greatly increased their prices and now require that our dog attend day care for so many days per 60 day period in order to be able to board. We have no need for day care as we are retired and are home most days to walk and interact with our dog. The new owners prefer to alienate their long time loyal customers. read more

Very poor service. No refund policy so we are out over $300 due to prepayment (special offers) now they say we can't take our dog there and will not refund our money. Manager will not even talk to us to explain. The girl at counter was the only person we could speak with and her information was not correct. She smiled as she told us there are no refunds. The care was subpar as it was and twice our dog came home sick. If there were negative stars that's what this place deserves. I have been to the Lawrence location before, and that was a great experience, so this is not all Camp Bow Wows. I called this location yesterday afternoon, and asked getting my pup in for daycare for the following day. The lady told me to come in, bring my vaccinations, told me there will be an interview, and in total this should take 15-20 mins, etc. So I go in at 7am (when they open), and the girl at the front desk did not seem too pleased. "I wish they wouldn't have told you that.." is what she told me. I don't get a spring break, so I don't know when spring break falls in the year, therefore I don't know how busy you are. I am just coming in at a time your coworker asked me to. I also get that your staff didn't communicate with you that there will be a new camper. But that isn't my fault. She gave me paperwork, I filled it out, and waited..and waited, until 7:50 to be helped (I had to be at work at 8). At 7:50 my dog went in for a two minute interview and she was accepted. I understand it's early, and you guys just opened, but 10 dogs shouldn't have checked in before mine. When I went in to pick her up at 4, I was waiting for a staff member, a lady shortly walks in after me. I'm standing at the desk and she is still at the door. When a staff member finally comes up, he waits on her. I am standing at your desk, she is at the door, and you wait on her first? After he helps her, he then looks up at me and says, "And who are you?" Not a..."Hey, how are you? Who are you picking up today?" His excuse was..."When you start coming more often I'll get to know you. I didn't recognize you because you've never been here." I know I'm new, but I would expect you to treat me like you treat your "regulars"...not that they were treated great either but definitely a lot better than I was. So for someone who has never been there, is that how you treat new customers now? Webcams were great, it was nice for the dogs to have an hour or two to get some rest before they played again. Do not use!!! Advertises playrooms all day and cameras on your pet. They are just crating dogs. They are not even there from 10am to 4 pm to let the dog out of crates. The staff member we talked to was extremely rude. When I asked what playroom he would be in they did not tell me the rooms are basically closed. They do not answer their phone during the day. Worse experience ever Ok. I have Read the response. Mainly lies. You have to enter the building because they do not answer the phone. Nor do they answer if you knock on the door. Please read the other reviews before you use this facility. I am not the only one on yelp making these same comments. We were on a long trip when we stopped in Indy. The previous day we had been in Columbus. Our dog was in the play area the whole time at a Camp bow wow. Their lobby was open for one dog at a time. Their cameras were working all day. This was my first time leaving my fur baby at a daycare facility and I was very pleasantly surprised. Great, friendly staff who seem to genuinely care about the dogs they care for. Alright, so after reading the review below I thought that I would share my experience of dropping by on a Friday afternoon. My husband and I are getting a puppy in mid April. So to be clear, we do not have a dog yet and are not customers of Camp Bow Wow. In preparation for our puppy, because we both have day jobs, we are looking into multiple doggy daycares around the indianapolis area. On a recommendation from a coworker who has boarded her dogs here before (and has raved about it) I thought I would drop by after work and check it out. First, I was greeted very politely and helped immediately. I expressed my concerns about never having sent a dog to doggy day care and how puppies would do as opposed to some of the older dogs. I cannot say enough how impressed I was with the staff. They answered my questions fully and asked me pertinent questions, like what breed of dog we were getting. She was able to tell me immediately that they had several dogs of the same breed that have done very well in this type of group situation. She even named off several dogs that were regulars. On top of the in depth body of knowledge, being close to 5pm I was able to witness several owners come and pick up their (happy) dogs. Almost every time they knew which dog belonged to which owner and even though I was in the lobby asking questions they were well enough staffed that someone else was able to come and assist the customers seamlessly without me feeling underfoot or the customers feeling ignored. The last high point I am going to touch on is their website. It is updated and full of great information so that they are very accessible. I browsed all of their forms and requirements and FAQs and can't imagine that with such transparency, customer service and information that the horror story mentioned below would occur. While we don't have our own dog yet, this place will definitely be on our short list of places to revisit and consider to board our puppy. read more

Never Again. Immediately when I pulled up to the place, I heard 2 of the staff yelling at the dogs very loudly. When I commented on this and asked why the staff were yelling so much, I was told it was because "the dogs were being rambunctious." I had an uneasy feeling about leaving our pup there as soon as I left the parking lot. We boarded our 13 week old puppy overnight on the weekend, thinking that he would be out playing all day, as the website and brochure states. However, this did not happen. They are crated most of the day, and all night with little time out of their crates. The cameras were not on, and when we called to ask them to turn them on, they refused and said they don't want people stalking their female staff. Ummm, WHAT?? Anyway, a puppy that young can NOT be crated for 12 hours at a time. We weren't surprised at all when they said he had to get a bath in the morning because he was covered in his own waste. You CAN'T keep a PUPPY crated that long!! As so many previous reviews state - this place is a joke; run by untrained, unsupervised teenagers who yell at the dogs and leave them in their crates all day/night long and refuse to turn on the cameras so they don't have to be held accountable for anything. We were unable to enjoy our weekend getaway due to the stress and worry about our dog at this place. Contacting the corporate office to seriously look into this place and hopefully fire the owner for their insubordination with the company's expectations and policies. Try the LAWRENCE location instead; they seem to have it together and is way better run than the Carmel one. read more

Great place to take your dog if you need to get away or just don't want to leave them at home while your out. We took our large lab here after moving from Arizona and loosing both his older brothers from old age just before the move. The poor dog was lost and in deep depression. After taking him to camp bow wow he was much better. He loved being around the other animals and playing. I also like the fact that there is a free app you can download and watch your dog play all day long. I highly suggest Camp bow wow and so did our Vet. We will definitely continue to take him here when we need to. read more

Thank you so much Camp Bow Wow Carmel for a great experience today! My pup is a regular at the Lawrence location but due to a family issue I had an immediate need for doggie day care in Carmel. At 4pm during a holiday week they helped get my information transferred from Lawrence and called my veterinarian for vaccinations records. After reading the reviews I was concerned even with the great customer care I had received the day before when scheduling. All trepidation was removed when I arrived 10 minutes before opening and the co-manager met me with a great attitude and got to know my special canine. He is an older dog with a few special needs. She reassured me that everything would be fine and when I pointed out that some have said the cameras were out she asked me to reach out if the cameras didn't connect to my app because it was an IT issue. The cameras were on every time I looked today and my sweet boy was happy and relaxed when I check on him. When I came to pick my baby up I was second in line but there were several attendants available and I was able to pay and retrieve my boy with ease. I will definitely revisit this location and thank you again for helping me on such shot notice! read more

What a joke. I've been to other Camp Bow Wows and loved them... this is sad. If you don't get your dog there right at 8:30 they then go into a cage until they feel it's time to let your dog play. I prepaid $650+ for 30 days and I was never happy with any part of this place.... so, I received a refund and now have my dog at a place that takes them any time during the day and allows them to play immediately. Hey, I'm just telling you all about my experiences. I gave it a chance and was disappointed and I assure you I have been quite happy at other doggie day cares. Having just moved to the area....this is not the place to let your dog play. And week end hours are truly a joke. Hire week end people to work for goodness sake. Just so you know... I've nev done one of these yelp reviews ever... so what's that tell ya. People, find another place... I sure did read more

I thought since the last review was closely read by this staff and understood properly I would reiterate the complaint again because it just k it's important to exemplify good business practice. So you are more CLEAR about my complaint since the last was foggy for you, my complaint is the staff did not employ good practice which starts with attitude towards customers. They were dismissive about questions and concerns we had and when inquiring about our pets time there, they instead wanted to inform us instead that next time we pick up early there will be a charge. The question never got answered and was brushed off. Showing that you were more concerned about being snarky then making the customer feel comfortable and informed about their pet. That's very poor business practice. So you are aware what good business practice is, that starts with your employees. Maybe you should teach them some better customer service skills. Also another good business practice is, to inform customers that may not know, what kind of incurring charges you have for different scenarios and not blind side them when it happens. Again, not a major major deal but if you are so confused about my review, which was pretty straight forward, hopefully this will clear it up because I don't want anyone to be confused here looking to give this place a shot. Maybe it will be better for some, but the staff, of who we dealt with, certainly wasn't the most customer service oriented individuals. Have a lovely day! read more

I've never been treated so poorly by a business in my entire life.my dog was not taken care of. He was given a bath before he left because he had been sitting in his own pee for god knows how long. I called Amanda at the corporate office named Bill Schwartz and he told me to expect a call back from the Carmel location. I waited 3 days for a call and received nothing. I called Bill again and he informed me that he could do nothing to make them call me and explain their policies to me. The cameras were off the whole time my dog was there. read more

When we started using Camp Bow Wow, we were told that they allowed the dogs to play on the weekends "like they do during the week." I thought this was great because of all day baseball tournaments, wrestling, etc. This past Spring, I picked up Storm (on a Sunday afternoon) and had a 60 lb ball of energy on my hands. I thought it was odd because he is normally exhausted and well-exercised. It was only then that I was told that the dogs only get "one or two hours" of play time on Saturday's and Sunday's. Grrrrr. Fine, I used another facility on the weekends, but continued to use CBW during the week because it's so close to my house. This past August, I boarded Storm on Wednesday and Thursday nights because I work nights and it allows me to sleep during the day while he plays and has fun. Win-win, right? Wrong. I woke up on Friday afternoon around 1:30 and checked out the doggie cam and didn't see anyone playing; checked again at 2:30--nothing. Arrived at 4:00 to pick up my dog and asked about the lack of dogs in the play area. The employee apologized and said they were short-staffed (only 2 employees showed up for work) and they were unable to allow the dogs to play. I was so angry because I could've picked my dog up that morning when I got off work and he could've slept with me in my bed but instead he was IN A CAGE ALL DAY! The employee even had the audacity to ask me to pay for the full charge, despite the fact that my dog had been in a cage all day. The other employee waived my fee for the day but I was livid. How many other owners think their dogs played all day? How sad... read more

When we moved to Noblesville, we had our dog's records transferred from her previous Camp Bow Wow to the Carmel location. It was a pleasant surprise that we didn't need to go through the interview and application process again. Our dog Biscuit has special needs, as she's extremely timid and has a lot of anxiety. We'd felt very comfortable boarding her at her previous Camp Bow Wow, so we thought it would be the same here. However, the staff here didn't seem nearly as gentle or caring. A couple of times I observed men shouting in the back area with the dogs, which seemed unnecessary. When we went on vacation, I usually logged in to the camper cams to view Biscuit playing during the day. After a couple of occasions where I was unable to locate her on the cameras, I inquired with the staff and they said that Biscuit didn't want to come out of her 'cabin', so they left her in her pen all day. I know that Biscuit can be very shy with strangers, but this had never been as issue at her previous boarding facility, as she does love playing with other dogs. I was surprised that it took me inquiring about it, in order for them to let me know that this had become an issue. On one occasion they let us know that they'd washed her bedding because she had an accident on it. Biscuit is a large dog who can comfortably "hold it" for more than 24 hours and never has accidents at home, so it concerns me to think about what caused her to potty on her own bed. Overall, I do think this is a good option for most dogs, but for my timid dog, I don't feel that they offered the level of compassion and care that I would have liked. We've since relocated from the area, so unfortunately, I'm not able to offer an alternative. read more

The facilities seem pretty good. Dogs are separated by size and they have access to indoor and outdoor areas. They have specific play times and private rest time. My experience with day camp is somewhat limited but I was surprised that they don't have toys. I understand the reasoning but think my dog would enjoy it if she had an excuse to interact with the dogs (she tends to shadow the human). Our first day the staff was very friendly during drop off and pick up. Unfortunately on our second day a number of younger women were in the office and they weren't exactly friendly. That's very frustrating because if you're not friendly to me are you really going to be friendly to my dog all day? Not sure. The price is decent, it's really convenient, and I enjoy watching my dog on the webcam so I expect to go on occasion but might look for something else just to see what others can offer. read more

My pups love coming to camp, and I love having tired happy dogs when we go home! The dogs get lots of play and get a chance to rest throughout the day, they happily deal with my sometimes "overly" rambunctious aussie. The thing I like the most about camp bow wow is the staff. They are friendly, customer-service oriented and they know me and my dog. They show they care about my dog and know us both by name, which makes me feel comfortable and trusting of them with my dog. They also know my dog's personality and have worked with him to make him feel comfortable. I think this culture at your facility is what sets you apart from other daycare facilities. Keep up the great work in hiring great staff and developing a culture of caring and customer service! It definitely makes a difference! read more
