If I could give zero stars, I would. We arrived at store opening and decided to see a puppy we were very interested in. The salesperson left us alone with the dog for nearly 30 minutes before we could get her attention to ask for information about the parents. During that time, the three employees on the floor spent more time walking around talking with each other than following up with customers on the floor. After playing with the dog for another 10-15 minutes, we decided to inquire about price. When we finally got the attention of a second sales associate, she rudely asked if we had ever been there before (what did that matter?) and asked who we had been working with. She told us that that person was "busy with a sale" and would be another five minutes. By this point, we had been in the store for a total of 75 minutes, the puppy had fallen asleep, and we said we could no longer wait. There was no explanation why neither she nor the other sales associates who were not busy could help us. The third associate then came over to take the puppy away, and when I told her, "You just lost a sale" due to the total disregard for us as qualified buyers, her response was a snarky "Have a good day." There were no apologies ... no acknowledgement of the indifferent treatment we received along with the total disrespect for our time. This was one of the worst customer service experiences I've had and I will not return to this Petland location. read more

DO NOT BUY A PUPPY FROM THIS PLACE. My friend bought a 10 week old miniature poodle who was sick from the first day. In a little over 24 hours, the puppy was dead and my friend was stuck with $1500 vet bill. The store has said that they will refund her the cost of the puppy but she is on the hook for a huge vet bill. I'm encouraging her to consider filing a suit in small claims court. This puppy was obviously very sick and most likely from a puppy mill. read more

My wife and two toddlers visited and were with a basset hound when the dog started to growl at and bite my wife while my kids were trapped in the corner crying. Despite seeing this go down and my wife asking for the dog to be taken away, both employees working (Alyssa and Jacqueline I believe were their names) stood by and takes amongst themselves before doing anything to assist. When I approached Alyssa about why it took so long for someone to come and remove the dog there appeared to be no empathy for the situation. In regard to the dog biting my wife, I was told "well that's what happens when we get in a room with dogs". There was no apology or sympathy. She made it seem like it wasn't an issue that the dog bit someone or that her and the other employee took their sweet time to come help. read more

I was looking for a Boston terrier and found the cutest one at Petland. The experience was the best customer service I've ever had! I had some banking issues and they worked with me after already having to wait 3 hours. They helped me make sure the little guy could come home to my loving family. I left a review on Google a few days ago that stated that I purchased a puppy from Petland Westifeld/Carmel on September 2, 2023 and they told me that the puppy had been vet checked at both the "breeder" and at their store and that everything was good with him and he was up to date on his shots, yet I have spent a lot of money on him due to an eye condition that he has had since birth. Not to mention the fact that when I took him to my vet, they said he was NOT up to date on shots!! My puppy has an eye condition and can't see at all out of his left eye and very low vision in his right eye, which the two specialists I had to take him to said was a condition he has had since birth!! After leaving that review, I received a response from Petland stating something about the puppy warranty and that the puppy could have developed that condition once he went home with me - um, no! He has had it since BIRTH!! If they really had a vet check him, the vet would have discovered that!! I have spent so much money, not only the almost $300 a month I am paying for the puppy, but the vet bills, medication and the $700 I had to pay the day I purchased him in the store. This is ridiculous!! I am financing the puppy and I am wanting Petland to have the finance company close my account as paid in full. I do not feel that I should have to pay any more money for him since they lied about him already being up to date on shots and that they had a certified vet checking his eyes! My paperwork shows that the vet said his eyes are good.....well, that is a LIE because if a real, qualified vet would have checked him, they would have seen this eye condition and should have noted it on the papers I received. DO NOT buy your new puppy from pet land or uncle bills, most ALL puppies they have are from puppy mills, lots of inbred, unethical breeding... not only is it extremely unethical, it leads to ($$$$) LOTS of hefty vet bills. let's be responsible and go to authorized, ethical breeders. Look on google "breeders near me *insert breed*". I came to pet land to investigate the behaviors of a certain breeds puppy bc i was adopting one that was three hours away. I had no intention of purchasing a puppy from here. I wanted to see how much they sold these puppies for so I spoke about the cost in detail with a store associate, the cost of a "cheaper" puppy was $3,100. I was shocked bc that is (if not more) the same price of a puppy from an ethical breeder that won't give you a dog with 1,000 issues accumulated from unethical breeding. Beyond disappointed in these businesses, their only end goal is profit and commission. DO BETTER. Also will note that the puppies are covered in their own poop and pee and are on display in poorly maintained display cases like they are barbie dolls and not living creatures. So sad. Please do better, be better. spend your money ethically. think twice before taking the "easy route" and purchasing a puppy from here. It is a lot easier to go the ethical route than you'd think. Me and my friends came in to look at dogs for her birthday and we played with the dogs and she put one of the dogs up in her hands to get the other dog to move to put the dog down but the manager took it the wrong way and became very aggressive toward me and my friends. petland is all about money, they claim to match you with the right breed to the right person, but they will push a sale no matter what. the puppies are kept in cages all day, they do not get let out to go to the bathroom outside, they do everything inside the kennel. not only is this abuse, it will teach them to pee inside. so potty training is a thousand times harder. many vet hospitals complain abt petland, including coyne veterinary center, which is the main place petland uses and they even give you a free exam if you purchase a puppy. i went to coyne and spoke w the staff and manager and they all said most puppies end up sick or conveniently develop an illness, which petland covers in their contract, which is the puppy warranty, that they are supposed to cover illness if the puppy get sicks. but not if they develop it after going home w you. so conveniently even if the puppy gets sick and you bring it back to petland and say that the vet said the illness has been here since birth, petland will deny it and say it happened after you took the puppy home. DO NOT trust petland or give them the time and money. its all a scam. the puppies look healthy but more than half develop an illness, which you will then have to pay for. read more

I don't know where to start with my review. Upon first seeing Petland you are enamored by seeing all the cute puppies, but when you stay there long enough, and actually purchase a puppy you really get a good view of the store and the environment that the puppies are in. First of all Petland told us that their puppies come from the top 10% of breeders in the country which is untrue. They come from puppy mills. We called and looked up the breeder information, and verified that he wasn't the top 10% of breeders. That is not the last lie they told. We ended up deciding to purchase a puppy after seeing him, but when we first saw him the price for him was around $5,600 which was out of our price range. We asked if the prices ever go down for the puppies, and she said that each week they are here they lower the price by around $1,200. So we hoped and prayed that by waiting a week the price would be closer in our price range. A week goes by and we call Petland, and tell them that we would like to purchase our puppy and take him home. They said we could, but we had to wait a week. They said that he had come down with an upper respiratory infection, and had to be quarantined and put on antibiotics for a week. We were afraid of him being sold, so we decided to put a down payment on him to hold, but no one ever told us that it effects the price. The second lie or omission they told us. After two weeks we go to pick up our puppy, and they tell us the price is in the $5,000 range. We said that he was here for two weeks, and he should be in the $2,000 range. They lied and said he wasn't here for two weeks when we knew for a fact he was, and they said that since we put a down payment after a week they would only discount him for being there for a week. After our family became very attached with him we decided to take him home still. When we picked him up to bring him he smelled like death. The stench that was coming off of him was like he wasn't washed for over a month. And not to mention that they have the puppies in glass cages with a grate to lay on with no padding or beds, and they pee and poop on top of the grates. The pee and poop is meant to fall between the holes in the grate, but they don't and then the puppies either lay in it or eat it. So, when I tell you he smelled HORRIBLE I mean horrible. We had to wash him twice when we brought him home to get the smell off of him. We brought him to his first vet appointment, and the vet that we went to is the vet that works with Petland. They do their intake exams when the puppies come in, and take care of them if they get sick while in Petland's care. So the vet told us that when the puppy came in he was so under weight and skinny she could see his ribs. This is evidence that he did not come from the top 10% of breeders, but rather a puppy mill. Then she saw calluses on the bottom of his feet which were caused by laying over the hard grates all day in the store. Then the vet noticed that he had a skin infection by his groin which could have been caused by laying on top of the dirty grates. We finished the exam by him getting his required vaccines. When we went to check out they told us the amount which included the vaccines. We told them that Petland said that they covered his first exam and the necessary vaccines which is why the price of the dogs is so high. She said that Petland doesn't. That was another lie told by Petland. We then asked if it was true that Petland pays for their neutering and if there is a time limit on that. They said that Petland does pay for their neutering , but only until their first 6 months of age. We specifically asked an employee if there is a time limit on the neutering , because we like to wait until about 2 years of age for their growth hormones to be finished. And she said there is no time limit on when we had to get him neutered in order for Petland to pay for it. Another lie. Petland will tell you what ever lie they need to to sell a dog. This place should be shut down for the neglect that these puppies are put through. This place deserves 0 stars, and deserves to be shut down for the way they treat the animals, they lie about them not coming from puppy mills, and the lies they tell to the customers. read more

This place deserves Recognition. First off I would like to say that trying to find a breeder for a purebred animal online is almost impossible without being scammed at least once. Coming here you can purchase the purebred you want and walk out them the same day. No hassle with online scams and the dreaded wait time that are sometimes years long. I purchased my new French bull dog here, and he is a very healthy puppy. The price was around 6,000$ which is the same amount other breeders would charge. The difference between getting a puppy here vs a breeder is at petland there are no wait times, The puppy comes with AKC papers/insurance for a month, a new crate, vitamins, probiotics, hair skin and coat vitamin, a box full of treats/toys/housebreaking aids and more, and the first vet visit is free. Another perk is if you purchase the food (which has very good ingredients) and 3 vitamins every three months, so your puppy stays healthy throughout its lifetime, you can get a second puppy for the same price no extra cost. So paying the same amount for the same kind of dog but I get all these other benefits at petland, it's really a no-brainer. Petland not only sells purebreds but they also sell a lot of other different kind of animals like bunnies, fish, birds and hamsters (and more). Not to mention toys food and other animal necessities. I see no difference between Petland vs Petsmart or Petco. It's a good pet store where all my needs & my pets needs are met. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. There were probably 6 employees all just hanging out at the back of the store talking to one another and paying the customers no attention. My son and I were there to look at a puppy that we had seen online but no one seemed interested in assisting. A family there at the same time said they too had not been assisted. I made a comment that I guess no one was working today. Niko, an employee there, heard me and made a point to greet the next few customers who came in and walked right past us. I asked if we could get some assistance and he said "I'd be happy to but apparently no one is working today so I can't help you" and walked off. His manager (didn't get her name but long dyed red hair) told me that if I didn't like how they interacted with the customers that we knew where the front door was; all while the other employees just sat and giggled. And as for the puppy, Nico informed me that he didn't care if we were interested or not, he'd have the puppy sold by the end of the week. This was the most disrespectful and rude business I've even been in and I truly hope people do not give them their business. Because the staff was mostly young, I said I hoped their generation would learn better customer service. Nico said he hoped my generation learned to respect retail employees. I've worked retail, I respect those workers, but this was not the type of attitude or work ethic that earns respect anywhere, not just retail. I hope the employees will learn to value their customers better than that and value the opportunity to have a job and do it was class. Some may say that expecting the staff to greet their customers and offer to assist them to be an outdated concept of customer service and if you expect this than you are a customer that thinks they are "always right." But judging by the number of poor reviews this store has received due to rude, pushy and disinterested staff, it leads me to believe that more people than just myself believe that good customer service is something that is still desired in our society and people aren't content with just accepting being treated poorly. And staff shouldn't accept bad behavior from customers either but many times we set the tone ourselves for positive interactions. I visited petland today to inquire about a puppy I had been looking at. My daughter was with me and she wanted to pet some puppys one employee was super nice and and stated of course, but then a lady with long hair in a pony tail heard her she quickly snipped back "No, she can come back Monday through Thursday if she wants to pet them" then looked at my daughter and said "She's new she doesn't know what she is talking about." I understand that it is a Friday and they are extremely busy that they couldn't allow her to do this at that time, but I do not agree with the way she degraded a fellow co-worker in front of a store full of customers, and the manner in which she speaks to a customer even if it is a child.She definitly lacks the customer service aspect of her job. Several minutes later I requested to look at a puppy the man that was helping me and was super helpful went and asked the same lady about getting the puppy I was interested in out. She very loudly and very rudely stated "No, I already told her she had to come between Monday and Thursday." I then advised her that I wanted to look at the puppy and I was the one requesting it. She stated that she was discussing it with her team member like they were in a seperate part of the store, but I was standing right in front of them. There was no discussion she rudley dismissed it and stated that she had already told my daughter she had to come back Monday thru Thursdsy. I advised her that I was wanting to purchase a puppy, and I wanted to interact with it before I purchased and not to assume that it was for my daughter. She degraded yet again a second astounding team member in front of a store full of customers. I live over an hour away and the entire reason I made a trip down to petland was to look at 2 specific puppies. My daughter just wanted to play with them as all kids do. I would suggest that the lady I think she called herself a PC needs training in customer service and management. If a company allows their employees to be treated like this by a supervisor that shows how little they value their employees. It makes you wonder how their animals and products are treated when not in the public eye. Kudos to the employee that was so generous to my daughter and to the man who helped us. You definitely did not deserve to be treated that way. You both are astonishing employees and deserve so much better. read more
