I have two pups six and three years and since they're a big breed dogs, I'm always looking for options where they can get some low impact exercises. I searched a lot, and then I found Alpha K9 for swimming. I wanted a place which can train and let my pups play for a bit. The process of registering my puppies was easy. I had to send a couple of documents online. Hannah was very quick each time giving me a call back and she explained everything to me. My first and second session were great Hannah helped and although me my pup was fussy she she got it. I think the place is huge. There's a lot for every pup. Boarding, training theres quite some activities. The only thing that could be a concern for me in the long run is $75 for 30 minutes, which is a lot for my budget. Be wasnt even 6 months yet so the 100 people with kids and dog in the tiniest room was super distracting but we gave it a shot . I did have to remove ourselves from the room multiple times due to distractions . The owner gave me a prong collar to control him... mind you this is a very submissive golden retriever puppy . After that class i started to have my doubt about this whole program . A few days later I had to bring my dog in for a checkup where we found out he had giardia . So I emailed alpha k9 stating this and how we would not be attending the other classes . Instead of refunding they did not care whatsoever . So why bother with a fecal test prior to the class ??if the fact that when the dog gets retested and comes back positive they will want you to attend or tuff shit . Our vet recommended this place and I will be telling them this story and emphasizing how they should stop sending patients here. The people that work here, especially the manager are the rudest, most unorganized and unprofessional business I have ever had to deal with. Let's go all the way back to June 5th when we first called this place seeking a consultation for our dog. We were told to email Rachel and that she would get back to us after her vacation the following week. I decided to wait until she was back to email her. My first email was sent on June 11th. My second was on June 13 and my third was on June 14th. Finally when there was no response within 2 days from the last email, I decided to call. She had a family emergency which is more than understandable! Rachel made contact with us on June 18th and from there we set up an appointment (see pictures below). June 27th rolls around. My fiancé and I both take time off work (I'm hourly so I do not get paid for this time). They only do consultations from 9am to 5pm, work hours for the typical person who works in an office like my fiancé and I do. I hadn't received an email discussing what we would need to do, or have, etc. I assumed it would be an at home consultation since that's where my dog acts like his true self. I was never told specifically though, so I will take partial blame on this for not asking for clarification. About 15 minutes before noon I called to see what was going on. I was then informed the consultation would be at their location. This wasn't a big deal since we live 5 minutes away. I was also informed that our appointment was at 3 and not 12... even though I specifically said 12 in my reply to her. I explained how I had a phone meeting from 2:30 to 4 and that wouldn't work. I told her that I couldn't take off work again because I would be losing more money and I had already done it, but that their mistake made the time taken off pointless. I said because of that it would really have to be after 5. She said absolutely under no circumstances would she do after 5. She also said I was partially to blame for the communication error (how is beyond me). Finally she said she would talk to her boss and see if they could do it after 5. She said they would call us in a few days. Given that the next week was the 4th of July holiday, we expected a call the week of July 8th. After not receiving a call that week (now 2 weeks after last speaking to Rachel) we call again. My fiancé speaks with the manager Roger. Roger says he can schedule us in after 5 but that he would call us later that afternoon to let us know. In addition to that he said he would email us the paperwork to get set up for the appointment(we never told until now that there was paperwork to fill out) we wait for the phone call and the email with the paperwork and neither of them get there. So my fiancé calls again today, July 30th, and is told by Meg that they can't help us because we want a consultation after 5. I call myself once my fiancé tells me this and ask to speak with Roger. I TRY (I capitalize this for a reason) to explain to him what has been going on for the past 2 MONTHS now with communication problems and how we just want to get our dog in because our vet recommended them to us and our dogs problems had been getting worse since our first contact. Before I finish telling my story I am CUT OFF by Roger. "Give me your email and I'll send you the paper work". I give him my email and go to continue on with my story. I am then CUT OFF AGAIN by Roger "Fill out the paper work and we will go from there. It's water under the bridge". At this point I'm just shocked not only because he keeps interrupting me but because the lack of respect overall. So I say "Well can't I finish telling you what's been going on? It's been really frustrating" to which he replies "No it's water under the bridge. It's either water under the bridge or you can go somewhere else". I am seriously at a loss for words here. I finally tell him that we will not be using their services and to have a good day". LONG STORY SHORT: - We wasted 2 months with them due to their lack of organization and communication. - The staff and manager that we dealt with are extremely disrespectful and rude - They do not take ownership to any of their mistakes and blame the customer If this is how they treat potential clients, how do they treat the dogs? I've worked in customer service for many years. I'm not trying to be one of those people, but when customer service is this bad, they need to be called out. My 7 month old Doberman puppy Blaze went here for a two week board and train with Hannah. The results were phenomenal. My expectations were exceeded and I am motivated to continue his training. Blaze immediately progressed to the intermediate puppy class with Dave. Among learning traditional puppy obedience Blaze was introduced to swimming. The first attempt to get Blaze in the water was met with him kicking and resisting with all his might. The second week was slightly better. When looking for a place to have our youngest puppy trained we kept hearing the name Alpha K9 from everyone, so we decided to give them a call. We were looking for a board and train. after speaking with staff they said they would make room in their schedule to get our pup in over the winter (late December) holiday season because they felt he needed the immediate attention. This was a 2 week full boarding and training package with a 6 week (1 day a week) basic obedience training after package. He came back better for sure, but after the 6 week class he was even better. We then decided to go through with the advanced obedience class after that and he is doing even better. He listens to everything, is super obedient and more patient. He still has some issues with other dogs getting to close to him but is so so much better. The staff here at Alpha K9 is amazing!! You can tell that every one of them really cares about the animals they are taking care of and really want to help them be better. But I will tell you that they do mean business, if you commit to a program they expect the pet owners to do just as much work as the pets. Don't think you can slack off and send a friend to work with your dog at training. This I love about them!! We have now sent our other dog through the basic training. Our family rescued a Belgian Malinois. Kyra was in training to be a police dog, got injured and then medically disqualified. Kelly's experience has helped us immensely. She has extensive experience with a difficult breed. She was able to tell us that Kyra did not exhibit any of the common genic problems with the breed. Alpha K9 U's training classes are exemplary! I've tried other dog training companies with previous dogs over the years, which were "average" at best in comparison to Alpha K9 U. I took the basic training course for adult dogs as well as one private lesson for leash walking with Wrigley, my daughter's 3-year-old Huskey/Shepherd mix rescue. Wrigley was stubborn and none attentive, pulled on the leash and frankly, just wouldn't listen. After the 6 week course, he now looks at me when on walks, walks right beside me without pulling, and has learned basic obedience commands. Overall, he just listens better. We still have a lot to work on but Alpha K9 has gotten us off to a great start! The trainers are very knowledgeable, caring and attentive. Dispite the large class size, they give one on one attention. The BEST dog daycare in the Indianapolis area (even though they offer much more than that, we've only used the daycare). We've been to several dog daycares here in town and the staff here is way ahead of most competition. The care and attention that they give our energetic boxer is amazing ... they're the friendliest people in an extremely nice/clean location and they really know how to handle different dog personalities. They have our complete trust, and that's a tough thing to earn for overprotective dog owners like us. We took our boxer here 1-2 times per week for about 4 months, and she always came home very tired and very happy. Even though I've changed jobs and now live/work 45 minutes away from this location, we still go out of our way every month or so to bring our dog back. A few months ago my wife and I rescued a puppy. You know, a cute, 6 month old, 75 pound Great Dane puppy. At 75 pounds he was only half grown and fully capable of pulling us around during walks. Clearly obedience training was necessary. A quick search of the Indy A list showed that Alpha K9 U was the place to go. Wow, was it right. Our first visit was a consult to decide which class we needed (they have several levels of group dog training). We met with Kelly, the owner. We were supposed to meet for about 30 minutes. She worked with our dog, Thor, for over 90 minutes because she liked him. We left that day with 2 private lessons scheduled before the start of our intermediate puppy class and an Amish made leather leash. The leash, at a price cheaper than anything I've seen at a pet store or online, is of the same quality as the training at Alpha K9-Truly the best. As previously mentioned, they offer several puppy level training classes. They also offer classes to teach your dog how to swim (no, they don't just know) and dock dive. Properly teaching the dog how to swim means teaching him how to listen to you in an emergency situation so he can always get out of the water in any situation. They also offer doggy daycare, boarding, board and train, grooming, nail services, and every dog product you could possibly need. They do it all. We have had our two personal training classes, done a doggy daycare, and purchased countless items from Alpha K9 (treats, other long leashes, deer antlers). All experiences have been fantastic and all prices are better than anywhere else I've seen. For example, the deer antlers at Alpha K9 are fresh and locally sourced and sold at the same price as the concrete rock antlers you can buy online through Groupon that are shipped from China. My wife, Thor (our dog), and I are very excited to start our puppy training classes. We posted previously regarding an issue of aggression with our dog. Kelly took him back for I think 9 days. Upon picking him up Rachael and Kelly walked us through helpful tools . They spent 2 hours with us. At home he is much much better. There are things we should never ask of Max and that's ok. As Kelly told us (more than once) with this type of personality in a dog.....choose your battles. We are very happy with AlphaK9 and the way they handled our issue. Very professional. We have taken our dog here for 3 different training classes--he graduated each class and moved on to the next. We absolutely cannot say enough great things about this facility. I would say the biggest advantage is knowledgeable trainers and swimming. Our puppy learned to swim at a very young age and was encouraged to listen to commands while swimming across the pool!! This was all especially helpful for us when we vacationed at a lake this summer! The classes were excellent and we were able to ask questions each week about the different issues we were all dealing with. Hearing the trainers response to other puppy owners was very encouraging for us. I know that everyone's dog is special, but our dog was a rescue and he was a bit more special than others. He came in very shy and skittish as he was never socialized and was aboused/neglected. Several months of training at another trainer just didn't have us moving in the right direction. Words can explain how happy we are to have found AlphaK-9 University! Once we spent some time with Keli and the staff at AlphaK9, our dog, George just blossomed. We started with some individual/one on one classes that got both the dog and I on the same page. Without the distractions of a group class we were able to build our bond and build the foundation of trust so that all of our further training was even possible. We have taken a number of classes since then and accomplished much in last several months. Our dog has completed the Canine Good Citizen Certification, has learned to swim and dock dive and is doing well on the agility equipment. Most importantly, he has gone from a terrified wall flower to a really fun and dynamic part of our family. She didn't ask my name or my dogs name didn't inform me on anything on the classes all she said was "email me your dogs shot records" now we all know when calling the vet to get the shot records that they will FAX them not email them. Any who 7 days passed by never heard anything from Rachel even after I emailed her to let her know all my info since it was never asked on the phone. I called again to ask to speak to a manager and they refused to allow me. I will not beg for their services so I will be heading elsewhere. NEVER TAKE YOUR DOG TO THIS PLACE. Took my dog to alpha k9 to board for a few days. Once I came to pick up my dog I was told he was a little dirty and needed rinsed off. Got dog in car and smelled a terrible odor. Noticed my dog had pee and poop all over him. Pictures provided to show proof. Had to wash dog several times to get stains and smell out. It appears the dog was sitting in his pee and poop the entire time. Owner stated dog had accidents 4-5 times a day. Dog is potty trained and does not have accidents. Regardless my dog would never choose to lay in its own pee and poop unless it had no other choice. They stated he was in the largest room they had. Went to talk to owner who tried to bully me and refused to apologize as I would not shake his hand. Owner made excuses on why they would give someone a dog cover in pee and poop. We never received a call that our dog was causing an issue as they stated. read more

We visited Alpha K9 University initially for a 1:1 training session with our brand new Labrador puppy to try and correct a few puppy training issues. We had a good first experience and we then enrolled our dog in puppy training class. Our dog loved the class and the other dogs, including the swimming. After she completed the class we enrolled her in the board and train program where she received 1:1 training over two weeks. Hannah, her trainer really took an interest in our puppy to ensure she learned the basic things included in the training. We received phone calls and texts with videos to show us the great progress our dog was making. Hannah worked real hard to meet our specific training needs. For example, we have a daughter in a wheelchair and Hannah was able to train our dog not to jump on the wheelchair and walk beside the wheelchair. Hannah was so enthusiastic and she really bonded with our dog. This place is great. We dealt with the owner Kelly and she worked on training our female lab. Our lab (Molly) was there for some obedience training as well as done anxiety that she had. Kelly and her staff did an amazing job with Molly. When we came to pick Molly up, Kelly took about 2 hours to let us interact with Molly on what she had learned and how to properly correct her. I was surprised with how much time Kelly dedicated to us and Molly and couldn't be happier with the results. I have had other dogs trained before but I can tell you that this is by far the best place I have ever worked with. I would highly recommend Alpha Canine to anyone that wants to have there dog trained properly. Before coming here we were using a shock collar. We took our dog Stella here for the board and train service. We were moving from an Acre yard in the country of Monticello, IN to and apartment in the Carmel area. Ryan was a fantastic resource and they helped make the transition super easy! My dog was struggling with leash aggression and anxiety toward other dogs. Oh my, I just can't say enough good things about Alpha K9 U!! I had my two dogs stay with them over the Christmas holiday, and let me tell you, it was a great experience for my dogs, and myself! Their facility is by far the best I've seen, and the love they showed for both of my dogs was beyond what I expected. They were able to take us in on short notice, which was rare given the timing (Christmas holiday) and were able to accommodate my one dog's special needs for allergy medicine. Both dogs had a great time in the daycare area, and were able to mingle with the other doggies that were there during this time! I also must say that the owner Keli must be some kind of a dog whisperer, because one of my dogs is a wolf hybrid, and Keli was able to bring out a gentleness in her that we thought would be reserved only for us !! I was really excited to start my 2 year old Standard Poodle into his next stage of training. I called Alpha K9 and spoke to someone who said a trainer would be calling me the next day to schedule a meeting to see what would be best for my dog. That call didn't come so a few days later I called again and got a call back, just to be told they don't meet us before we sign up for class and my only option was that I would have to have him take their basic training class before I could have my dog go further in his training, I explained that he's had basic training and is extremely smart, it would be more training for me than him. Rachel, who I spoke with was very rude and said my veterinarian (who said I should call them and had gone to them as well) didn't know what he was talking about and any literature he gave me was incorrect. We adopted a 8-month-old ACD mix in January and knew that she was going to need more than just our self-taught training in order to learn the ropes. We took her to Alpha k9 U after a friend mentioned that they have dock-diving; since we live on a lake, we wanted our puppy to be comfortable in the water and get some energy out of her system as well. We signed her up for dock diving and puppy obedience; we could not be happier with her progress! She has grown up so much over the last 5 weeks of class. Kelly is an amazing trainer and the classes have been such a great socializing experience. On the first day, our puppy was hyper, trying to get other dogs' attention, and a little out of control. Now, she is much better-mannered and focused. She has improved greatly in proper leash walking, biting/herding/nipping, barking, and jumping up. The physical resources they give you are so helpful as well. We also appreciate that they only take day care pups who have had an obedience class there. We feel really comfortable leaving her in their care, and I expect that we will use them for boarding as well! read more
