    This is my After Photo. Spoiler Alert - That Orange Streak is not suppose to be there, that was my before hair color.

    I'm torn between rating my experience between 1 star and 2 stars. Mostly because I am happy with the outcome of my experience, however, I had to go home and fix it and finish the job myself. (Spoiler Alert - I am a former hairstylist, so it's not a big deal for me.. But if I was a random who never had the knowledge how to, access to professional products and skill set I would be LIVID.) I will spare you the details with the consultation which was excellent, my stylist was thorough and we discussed the different options we had available. I knew I could do either of these options myself. (After doing your own hair, I just wanted to feel pampered). However after talking to her I realized one option she was not comfortable with so we went with the fail safe option. Totally fine, I LOVED the color outcome we got. It is a beautiful RV, its stunning and I got so many compliments already. The haircut was perfect as well. She didn't take much length off and took off just enough on my layers to help when I use my Dry Bar Double Shot to give me a good blowout. It was amazing start to finish. I even had DoorDash bring us some coffee and lunch and had an amazing experience through the entire session. Now, lets get into why I'm peeved. Immediately after leaving the salon I visited a friend (also a previous hairstylist) and as she was admiring the color and cut, she pointed out a missed streak. You can see it in the picture of my After photo. I was a bit bummed, because I paid $300 for this. However, in the end, I was like no big deal, I can grab color at the Beauty Supply store (I knew what color line and formula she used) and fix it myself. It's totally fine I didn't mind doing that. However, after having second thoughts I decided I'd just call and let her know she missed a spot (not to get her in trouble or be a Karen about it), but because in my years behind the chair - I had my mistakes pointed out to me. It's a learning experience to grow and help stylist become better. It's just so noticeable that I wanted her to know that she shouldn't have let me leave the salon just to find it myself. So I call the salon, and obviously I get the stylist who did my hair on the phone. Immediately she gets defensive and tells me "I don't know how I could have missed a spot, like I would have seen that". I advised I had a picture and was more than happy to show her. Despite her saying she believed me, and knew I wasn't lying, she continued to state that she was sure she would noticed she missed a spot. She offered to fix it for me. But at this point I don't want her any where near my hair because of her becoming defensive towards me. She made me feel bad for even saying anything, when it was her error. At this point, it's principal for me that she realizes it wasn't necessary to get defensive and make me feel bad for letting her know she make a mistake. As a professional courtesy I will not name her in my review. If someone from Ulta Management wishes to reach out to me and get more background info, I would be happy to let them know. My goal of this review is not to bash her online, it's to merely educate her that human error is always a possibility, but the one thing is to not take it out on the customer. Woman up, own your mistake, and volunteer to fix it. Learn from the experience and do better next time. I paid $300 for my hair (not including tip), I deserve to be treated fairly.

    I went into Ulta to buy some shampoo and saw that they had a salon, I was in the need of a new hairstylist as mine had just moved away and I had had her for about six years. I met Maria ( master stylist) and from the moment I met her she was very sweet and very kind and very interested in what I had to say. So I made an appointment with her, but was still very nervous about meeting with a new person as anyone would be when they're changing stylist. I came to yelp and read her reviews and she had quite a few good reviews but she also had some not good reviews. I took the bad ones with a grain of salt , as sometimes the really really bad reviews have more to do with the person writing the review ,so I gave Maria a try and I'm so happy I did. She is a wonderful young lady working in a very different world than we were living in a few years ago, she did all the correct protocols everything was sanitized and clean she asked me what I wanted. She really listen to what I had to say, I asked her opinion as I really just wanted to cut my hair short because it was very very long and very heavy and I have recently completely transition to all gray after two years of not dying my hair. Maria knew this was a big deal since I was looking for a new stylist and also she would be cutting out the last part of the dye in my hair I believe she took off 6 to 8 inches I'm not sure exactly, we talked about different treatments what would work best for my hair what I was hoping for, we decided and she did a keratin relax on me and cut. I could not of been more happy. I waited until I wash my hair and did it myself before I left this review, because I wanted to make sure that the keratin relaxation treatment would really work and I would be able to do my own hair almost as good as Maria did it. I am happy to say that the end result was exactly what Maria told me it would be ,it was a bit pricey but I got about 35% off my total services, 15% off for a new customer and another 20% off because I opened an ultra card. I really feel like everyone at the store was super helpful. I even did my eyebrows with Irena and Carrie they both help me very much to pick up the correct products and I even got the tint for my eyebrows. I'm a very happy person that I found Ulta in Washington Square. I have seen a lot of reviews that are not very good , I would tell you to go onto that store and to look for yourself and determine what you think , they are just a great team trying to help in a very different world. I think they're succeeding , each and everyone of them that are working there , they're very knowledgeable they're very welcoming and their customer service to me was spot on. I have already made my next appointment with Maria.

    If I could give a negative star review I would!!!! MARIA WRIGHT COMPLETELY RUINED MY HAIR!!! I went in and asked for a nice bright and pretty blonde. The first time I saw her she said the lady before me was scared of the bleach and toner and that's why I kept getting an orange color. Well, I don't have a brassy color anymore but the breakage of my hair two weeks after the appointment scares me. My hair is now uneven and frizzy and dead looking because she demolished my hair. I by no means even got close to what I asked for. I have been having blonde put into my hair for years and have never had an experience like this one. She put in bleach and I sat for nearly two hours. She checked me ONCE!!! When she rinse my hair she was so upset at the thought of the salon closing due to COVID-19 that I had to ask her to stop because she was hurting me. I went home with a sore scalp and not much bothers my scalp. Now two weeks later, I am stuck with hair that is completely ruined and the breakage is so bad my hair feels rough and looks uneven. I have added hydration masks, deep conditioning masks and nothing is helping because she did such a terrible job. I called the same day when I got home and was told that only the salon manager could call me to take my complaint, no call! I'll NEVER GO BACK TO ULTA BEAUTY FOR ANY BEAUTY SERVICE AGAIN. I've been a faithful Ulta customer for years and I have never left a salon feeling so terrible about myself. You get your hair done to feel pretty and more often in not I am in tears because my hair looks so bad and feels even worse. Stay away from Ulta Beauty for any salon services. They mess you up and then don't call you back. Maria Wright messes up my hair. The salon manager doesn't call you back. Save yourself the money and the damage this salon will cost you!!!!!

    I've gone to Irina for brows ever since ever. I swear by her technique and skill. She has an eye for brows and really know what she's doing down to the nitty gritty. She's also very particular when trimming or plucking brows! I'm super picky and she always does such a job well done. I have full brows, but when trimmed the wrong way they can look bare in some areas. She's learned the way my hair grows and understands how to work around it when I have my stubborn brow days. I always feel taken care of when I'm in her chair.

    Selena always does such a phenomenal job with my hair!! One appointment, I had a special event that day and she took extra time to curl my hair. I left the salon feeling gorgeous and everyone thought my hair looked amazing!! She is exceptionally knowledgeable and really listens to what I want.

Shawna has years of experience, is so talented in her craft, and is wonderful to work with. She is so professional (clean, prompt, responsive), down to earth, calming, and open to feedback -- all qualities a nervous bride wants on her wedding day! I love Shawna's work for my wedding day. She made me feel beautiful, the hair/make-up lasted through the day/night, and her work photographs beautifully (without it looking too cake-y IRL). She also did my mom's hair and make-up, which my mom ended up loving (especially since my mom's has had poor experiences with professional hair and make-up artists in the past). In addition to my wedding hair and make-up, Shawna did two sets of eyelash extensions for me. I'd never gotten lash extensions before, but she was so patient and instructive in explaining the process and teaching me how to take care of them. I cannot recommend Shawna enough for your hair, make-up, or eyelash extension needs!

Not only is Shawna professional, clean, and efficient, all the things you want in a makeup artist - she is also so creative, talented and personable. Shawna made me feel so beautiful on my wedding day! I normally wear minimal makeup in my daily life, so for my wedding I was concerned about looking way overdone. Shawna absolutely nailed what I asked for. She made me feel like a more elegant, polished version of myself. She knew right away how to accentuate my features but still have a natural look. The touch up kit made it easy for me to fix my lip color in between photos. For my hair, Shawna did an amazing updo that I never would have been able to do myself! I gave her some creative freedom with the hairstyle and was so happy with the result. An updo is not easy with my hair because it's very thick and heavy, but somehow it stayed in place all night through lots of hugs and dancing. The lash extensions were done a couple days prior to the wedding. She had a few different options ranging from natural-looking to more dramatic. I loved that I didn't worry about sweating or crying off mascara or strip lashes during my wedding, and they looked beautiful! I was a lash newbie but Shawna gave me easy instructions on how to care for them. The process does take a couple hours if you're getting a full set, but it's absolutely worth it. I definitely recommend scheduling a trial if you can, to give you the opportunity to try different options ahead of time, show her inspiration photos, etc. It made me feel much better going into my wedding day knowing we already had an idea of the look I wanted. Even though she was helping another customer, she could have simply said, "Hi, I'll be right with you." Other times, it was clear assistance wasn't a priority, so I chose to purchase my items at Nordstrom instead. Over time, the inconsistent service led me to visit less frequently. I recently stopped by Bridgeport intending to shop at both Sephora and Bluemercury. I noticed that Chanel had moved into Bluemercury's previous location and asked where Bluemercury had relocated. After finding the new store, I walked in and found it empty except for three employees who appeared to be chatting. They stopped talking and stared at me, but no one offered assistance. It was a very uncomfortable atmosphere. I browsed the Chantecaille section but couldn't find the Corrector Pen I was looking for, so I asked for help. I was briefly told they didn't carry it and to check the Portland location. I also asked about SK-II products, items I've previously purchased there was given the same dismissive response. There was no effort to find a replacement product, offer to order the items, or to provide any meaningful assistance. Between the limited inventory and complete lack of customer service, the experience was unacceptable. I will no longer be shopping at ANY Bluemercury location.

After reading Yelp reviews I decided to book with Melissa at Studio 23. She was very sweet with my daughter and did a consultation to make sure she understood what my daughter wanted. After the cut she styled it and boy was my daughter so happy! We have gone back one other time and have another appointment coming up. We live in the Clackamas area so it's a good 40 mins to get to her studio but so worth it! Place is easy to find, it's a nice building with a bunch of other little studios on it. So that's cool too. There's also a Starbucks across the street that I go to before I bring my daughter in.

This not only stands out for sanitary reasons but it demonstrates she really loves what she does. Melissa is very passionate about the footprint she leaves on this Earth. She supports this by offering her clients a variety of products with less chemicals and doesn't do certain services that doesn't support this passion. Melissa is the only one who has done my hair for the past three years and I have NEVER had a bad experience. Her color and cuts keep my locks healthy and well managed. I get many compliments on my hair even WEEKS after I have seen her. I have NEVER had Melissa cancel on me. In fact I have cancelled in her NUMEROUS times and she has never been anything but gracious and understanding. I think in three years she has charged me TWICE for missing my appointments, and believe me there have been NUMEROUS times. I have seen that she has cancelled days herself for being sick, but I would APPRECIATE if she cancelled on me if she was sick. I use to HATE going to my hairdresser in the past only to learn she was sick and didn't tell me until it was too late. Melissa has never been late either, I have NEVER had to wait for her because she was running late with another client. On a personal level I adore that our conversations are real, she is a caring person and is the ONLY hairdresser I have been to (I'm 40 years old) who doesn't sit and gossip about those around her or other clients. She is truly a great person with a FANTASTIC talent. If you are looking for a great hairdresser, look no further~ Melissa is the one for you!

    I would not recommend. I disclosed having old ink (pic 1),…read morepretty thin lines, nothing massive or super dark. Pictures were sent. We talked about what I wanted before and at the appointment, I was NOT shown examples/photos at that time and aside from stating I wanted them to look more natural, I let her lead this is her area of expertise.... After my initial appointment (pic 2) of several hours, I was told I needed to come back for a touch up in 4 weeks. Of course, look picture 2!! Now I've paid over $800. My eyebrows look ridiculous. (Pic 3) After reaching out with my disappointment I was told "yeah come for yet another 'touch up', reduced charge of $150 for set up fee", she never even asked to see a photo for reference - I argued that fee, being my eyebrows looked awful. It shouldn't take 3 visits, but it should definitely be great after that many! In all of this I was told different after care instructions from one appointment to the next due to oily skin. Okay, you are the professional & I am going to take your instruction. Now she has had 2 appointments to get it right, & get a feel for my skin. Having to go back that 3rd time, after looking at my brows there was embarrassment because she could see what a fail it was. She was apologetic & admitted it was not great work. When I left that 3rd time, I was happy they appeared better/fuller. I waited for healing and as that process went on, I knew there was an issue. Once fully healed, one brow is a different size, they don't blend and just look cheap. (pic 4) This is absurd. I reached out yet again. She brought up doing a different kind of brow all together - why was this not brought up in the 2nd/3rd appointment??? She was insistent that I didn't mention anything wrong. How could I have really known yet, I was waiting for the healing to be done before saying anything. I blocked her number because I was done with the long winded messages telling me how great she is, how she stands behind her work, she knows what she's doing, making excuses & being very defensive as if somehow this is MY fault - she then started texting me from another number 7 more texts. How extremely unprofessional. The thing is, in the text she makes it very clear that due to old ink and oily skin a 'powder brow' is the only way to effectively cover up old work. Why was this not explained to begin with??? I 100% would have opted for that, even if I wasn't quite as "natural".. The hair strokes offered no additional blending, I didn't know that. It makes zero sense & it is very frustrating to feel like I'm being milked for money to do a job correctly. The unprofessional attitude, the continued cost, the just plain failure that I am stuck with on my face is damn embarrassing especially because I paid so much. I would not recommend Dovetail if you have any previous ink, or oily skin. Clearly she doesn't think she can give any kind of remotely natural powder brow - which by her own admission is the only way to cover up old ink. Thank for not disclosing that. I've heard it all, and have the texts & screenshots. No excuses are valid. I cannot be blamed, I am not the pro just person paying for cheap PMU. In all of her ranting and blame shifting she never even asked to SEE what I was talking about, yet again. I thought she was a professional, in every way she showed she is not. There is no response that can validate the job I paid over $800 for. None.
