Have you ever wished you didn't have to take time off of work during the day to fit in your hair appointment? Well, the gals (and guy) who work at this Salon have a very wide variety of hours--including all day Saturday and many late evenings during the weekday. Despite the convienient scheduling, I found the general vibe and atmosphere of this place to be friendly and upbeat. Everyone is full of energy and smiling. The location is not ideal for the downtown portlander since you'd probably have to drive, but the prices are worth it. I paid way less than I was paying downtown and but the service was quicker and just as good. I love my new cut & color and will be back for more. I go to Kim Gump here and she is the best colorist I have ever met! She highlights my dirty blonde hair and it looks completely natural but also very bright and clean. She also colored my mom brunette with subtle red highlights to get rid of her grey and it always comes out well. One of the other stylists even had her do his hair once when I was there! I have also had my brows waxed here several times and it is great. She is quick, friendly, and understood the shape I was going for well. Though I have heard the prices for other stylists here are a bit inflated, at least the two services I get here are well worth the money. I've been seeing Kellie Ross for almost 2 years now. Before her, I never saw a stylist more than once because they never listened to me and I ended up with a haircut I was unhappy with. Kellie is amazing. She's a great stylist, gives you exactly what you want, takes extra time to style it cute of I'm going out afterwards. On top of that she's one of the most fun people I know. If there was a half-star, I would say this salon deserves a bad review. To text a customer a few hours before an AM appointment (asking to reschedule an hour later) means that whoever looked at the schedule Friday night and made a 10am reservation, and on Saturday morning the stylist who needs another 75 minutes for her customer before me - both cannot estimate how long it takes to do what they agreed to schedule. I used a groupon for Nazy Cunningham and I would strongly never recommend her. It seemed she posted a groupon deal to make some money quickly and easily, and was not ready to deliver quality service. She kept repeating that I only paid "$55" and shouldn't expect more--even though the deal was valued at $55 more. I called the salon the day before coming in after seeing a deal for partial highlights and a haircut for $55. I told the receptionist that I did not need partial highlights but wanted to ask if the stylist could do a root touch up instead. She said that she would ask Nazy and call me back--she did, and said everything was fine. Upon my arrival, Nazy said she would not do a root touch up but would go along with the partial highlights and that they would tone down my color and mix the root color in. That did not happen. My roots are still there and they look worse next to my dyed hair color even than they did before. Not only did she not ask me about what I wanted for my haircut, when I tried to tell her she did not listen. My hair is choppy and it looks TERRIBLE. Seriously, do not go to her. And at the end, she was so rude. She kept telling me I was over picky when their were unconnected-to-anything bleach spots in my hair. At one point another stylist came over and had to advise her on what to do to cover up the bleach spots. The whole time, from the second I got there, she was sure to rub in that she was doing more on me than she had to and more than she should. Even though I got a "deal", it was not worth anything close to $55 and if I had known I would have probably paid to have that experience not happen to me. As a side note, she also didn't wear deodorant which added to an extra unpleasant experience. I am deeply unimpressed. Do not go here, do not use groupon for hair services because as it is valued lower they will value the quality of your treatment. And DON'T use Nazy Cunningham. At the end, she told me I was so picky that I would have trouble finding a husband. Although that was a hilarious touch, at the end of the day, I still care more about my hair than men and I only asked her to deliver in one of those domains. read more

I have been going to the Ritz for over a year now and cannot complain. My hair was a wreck from my hairdresser of nearly a decade leaving. I tried other places, but they just couldn't get it right. Kellie fixed me and I could not be happier. She takes time on my hair and I leave looking beautiful. She is amazing with hair, awesome to talk with and reasonably priced. Giving the actual salon 4 stars though, due to the waiting area seating being very uncomfortable as well as there is no way to pay with debit/credit cards. I've been getting my hair cut and colored by Kristy Miller at The Ritz Salon for the past 10 years. Everyone at the salon is friendly, but my experience/review is with Kristy. Kristy is an amazingly talented hair stylist: Her haircuts are tailored to work with your specific kind of hair and her cuts easily hold their shape through to the next appointment. But it's coloring/highlighting where Kristy really shows off her magic. She knows just how to pick the right products/shades to work with your hair, and she's able to pace out the coloring and highlighting schedule to keep your hair looking natural while shifting to the look you want -- all in the most economical way possible. An added bonus: Kristy is delightful to work with -- she's personable, a great listener, full of creative ideas, and on the cutting edge of her profession (staying up to date on new techniques and products). I've had my hair cut and colored by high-end, "designer" stylists in NYC and Tokyo, but I have never been so thrilled by my hair as I am in Kristy's hands in Portland (Lake Oswego), Oregon! Got my hair cut and styled by Kellie and thought I had died and gone to heaven! She did an amazing job and was extremely professional. I would recommend her to anyone and everyone. The hair cut I got was at least a $70-80 value and yet she only charges $50. She listened carefully to what I wanted and gave me genuine feedback and suggestions. I saw Nazy on a groupon as well and I was extemely happy. I showed her a picture from 10 years ago and the cut, style and color was exactly what I wanted. I also took my 18 year old for a trim. Nazy listened to her and instead of chopping her hair off, she did exactly what my daughter wanted. I have been going to Aubrey Reed at The Ritz Salon in Lake Oswego, OR, for almost 7 years now. My hair is medium length, medium to thick Caucasian wavy texture, light brown hair/but also very gray. She listens to what I feel like changing (changing 'something' at least ever so slightly every time I see her -- yes, I'm high maintenance like that!) She's a great colorist, so much so that she can deal with, "blond, very blond this time!!" and "I want reddish/brownish lowlights this time!!" -- I told you I'm high maintenance... My cut has been long layers, very long, half-way down my back, to much shorter, almost chin length -- I've always received positive feedback on her cuts, too. Whatever my general whim, she delivers and I'm always happy with the results. read more

After having one stylist dye my hair way,way darker than the picture I showed her, another stylist- Margie, did her best to fix my hair- for free. The stylist who ruined my hair in the first place- Linda P- refused to give me my money back or pay someone else to fix my hair even though she admitted that it was not even close to what I had asked. The owner says that her hands are tied and that when a stylist messes up someone's hair, she can do nothing about it. Since they are all independent contractors, the salon does not back up any of the work. Margie is great as are some of the others I have seen over the years. Just beware, that if you are unhappy about the service, you will have to take that up with the stylist, not the salon. Overall, I think the salon is fine and most of the stylists are great... unfortunately I had a really bad experience with one stylist and am still paying the price:( read more
